"In other news, two dead bodies were found near the edge of the forest. Two adult men, both with deadly rips in their throats. Cause of death is clearly an animal attack. However, what animal did this remains unknown."

Well, it clearly had to be something with sharp teeth, Lloyd thought. Look at those bite wounds. Clearly no rabbit could do that. Maybe a wolf.

Yeesh. The thought of wolves always made him shiver. He wasn't scared of them, he just always felt a strange connection to them. Whenever the moon was full, he felt like he wanted to howl his head off. He always thought he was insane, but his mother said it was normal.

Why would she think that's normal? Hell, maybe that's why he doesn't have any friends.

"Turn off the TV, Lloyd, you need to get to school."

"Yes, Mother." He shut off the TV and stood up.

"Did you hear?" Koko began, "There's going to be a full moon tonight. Isn't that great?"

Lloyd frowned. "Joy. Hey Mom, did you hear that report on TV? Two hunters were killed by a wild animal."

She shrugged. "Well, they had it coming. Anyone who hunts animals for sport is disgusting."

Lloyd couldn't disagree with her. There was a taxidermy shop in the city and every time he passed it, he cringed. Seeing those poor things, knowing they were once alive and free to roam as they pleased, now sitting trophies in a window. It disgusted him.

"Out, out. Go to school." His mother shooed him out of the room.

"Yes, Mother." He grinned.

Koko smiled. "I'll be home late tonight, so I left some money on the table in case you wanna order something."

"Kay."

….

Now he was inside of his school. Kids didn't straight up bully him, they just didn't talk to him. He never understood why. Maybe because he was the quiet type.

All through his early classes he didn't speak once. Didn't raise his hand, didn't murmur to someone next to him. Nothing.

During lunch he always liked to stay in the library. It was sort of quiet, the only noise being some kids talking. He walked down an isle of books about animals. As much as he didn't want to, he couldn't help it. He stopped and pulled out a book from the shelf. The book he was looking for.

A book about wolves.

He sat at a table and opened it. After reading a few pages, in seemed like all the normal stuff. What they eat, where they live. Hell, even pack ranks.

But then he turned to a page that really surprised him.

Wolves in mythology

It was honestly fascinating. So many cultures outside of Ninjago had such amazing theories and ideas and stories about wolves. But a thought occurred to him. Did Ninjago have any wolf legends?

He turned a few more pages to look. Then he found it.

Wolves in Ninjago mythology

He read through carefully. What he found was truly fascinating. It was something called...human-wolves.

What in the hell are those?

He read the page carefully:

Human-wolves are humans who have the power to transform into wolves. They were said to be given that power by a witch who wanted to use them to take over Ninjago, and it frightened the citizens of Ninjago so much that they exterminated them all, and burned the witch at the stake. No human-wolves are known to be left on earth. Some people believe they're still out there, but no evidence of one has turned up in centuries.

Wow, Lloyd thought. Those poor things went the way of the dodo.

Then a different thought struck him. What if those hunters were killed by human-wolves?

He shook his head to clear it. No, that's impossible. They've been extinct for centuries.

He continued to read the page:

The way humans could tell they were in contact with a human-wolf was that when there was a full moon, the people would look up at it and just stare and tremble, like they wanted to get something out but couldn't. Some were even said to transform into the wolf forms right in front of a regular human's eyes. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes on accident. No matter what the situation was, it put them in danger.

So people just killed them because they were different? They were technically humans, just a different kind. Then Lloyd had a different thought. They killed them because they were scared. Humans are scared of things they don't understand. His mother had told him that once.

Then he thought about himself and how he would behave during a full moon. He would always feel strange and loved to stare at its beautiful glow. He closed the book and sighed, getting up from his chair. He walked over to the front desk of the library and said, "I'd like to borrow this one please."

Notes!

Oh wow look two chapters in one night, haha.
