Chapter 3: The Dance
Jane was finally rid of most of the angst that followed her sleepover at Mauras, a month ago. There hasn't been a new case in over a week which meant Jane didn't interact with Maura as much as they do when working a homicide. Of course, Jane missed her best friend but the constant flushness, high blood pressure to the point of feeling like she would faint and the overall lovesick feeling was getting to be too much for the detective. It had her feeling like she was in high school drooling over Samantha Portman, captain of the volleyball team, all over again. BARF Jane thought to herself as she swallowed a sip of her beer.
Then again Maura is a whole other ball game, not Samatha Portman nor anyone else in Jane's life could compare to the doctor and how she made Jane feel. Nope, we are not thinking about her. Not her hair that always smells so good and is soft to the touch. Not her hazel eyes that I lose myself in daily. Definitely not her toned legs or her ass that looks incredible in those tight-fitting dresses not to mention those breasts oh my gawd! I'm doing it again. No, no Jane, you just listed things you were NOT going to think about so...good job. Jane thinks to herself.
Jane sat back with a satisfied sigh, in her booth at the Dirty Robber, convinced that she's finally out of the woods with the whole 'feelings for Maura' thing. In walks Maura, looking as sinfully desirable as ever. You gotta be kidding me Jane thinks to herself as she moves involuntarily in her seat.
Maura sits down, less graceful than usual for the doctor. She looks at Jane across from her with a worrying look. Jane is immediately on alert, ready to kick as if need be. "What? What's wrong Maur?" Maura takes a sip of Jane's beer before saying "You'd wanna know if you had Marfan syndrome right?"
Jane relaxes slightly because it wasn't as serious as the doctor's face had led on but she clenches her jaw slightly as she remembers the honey blonde was on a date tonight. Jane had completely forgotten about it since she made a point not to think about the ME as much, which was harder than she could have anticipated.
"You did it again?" Jane couldn't deny it was kinda funny. She started giggling at the idea of Maura being so eager and random to diagnose everyone! Before long Maura was laughing as well.
"I missed you the past few weeks. I feel like getting drunk tonight. Will you join me?" Jane almost spat out her beer at the doctor's proposal. "What is your idea of drunk dr Isles? And I missed you too Maur. I don't think I have ever seen you tipsy". Hazel eyes hold a mischievous gaze and Jane starts rubbing the label on her now empty beer bottle.
"It's true. I don't drink enough to the point where I am intoxicated very often." Maybe a few drinks couldn't hurt, at least that will help with the anxiety. Is it called anxiety when it only happens when a particular blonde is present? On second thought alcohol isn't the biggest fan of one's inhibitions. Jane thinks to herself.
"But I've had such an awful past week. Bass is sick so I had to take him to the rehab facility at the vet. I just found out that my identity has been stolen by someone with more passion and imagination to live my own life than I do. I just ruined a perfectly good date by diagnosing him with a rare disease, we didn't even have starters before he practically ran out of the restaurant to call his doctor. And the worst part of it all is that my best friend has been MI6 for the whole week and I know you weren't working on an important case because then I would be working on an important case... Just tell me, Jane, is there someone else? Do you have another best friend? Or have you been avoiding me?"
Jane is crushed at the genuinely hurt look that Maura holds. The detective was so busy avoiding the doctor, to avoid feeling the feelings she has for the ME. She didn't think about how Maura would handle her sudden absence. To be honest Jane always felt the doctor was a little out of her league even as a friend. She figured Maura could have a fancy tennis match with her rich friends or eat lunch at a 5-star hotel with the mayor's wife if she wants so why would she care if she didn't spend as much time with her work buddy, Jane?
It's not like they've ever told each other that they consider one another to be best friends until Maura did right this minute. "It's MIA Maura not-". The doctor shoots Jane a warning look "Seriously Jane-". Fuck I hate it when she looks at me like that "Ok I am sorry. Muara I am so sorry you had a crappy week. I'm really sorry about your turtle, I know how much you love it-him!". "Tortoise" Maura corrects automatically.
"And I'm sorry that your date didn't work out-wait a minute did you say there is an identity thief out there using your identity? As in spending your money and using your name, when did this happen? I had no idea". Maura simply sat back and crossed her arms, looking at Jane pointedly "How could you? You weren't there. Why is that Jane?" Maura says as she unfolds her arms, leaning in, closer to Jane. Jane's hands start perspiring slightly and she's finding it harder to hold the doctor's gaze.
She can't tell Maura the truth about why she's been avoiding the ME. She doesn't want to lie to her either and deflecting the subject won't work now, the doctor is passed that, she wants answers. "I.. Maura I just needed some space.." Not a lie so far technically. "I was pretty stressed with everything that happened with Hoyt and other stuff.." Jane mumbles the last part. Also not a lie completely Jane thinks triumphantly.
"I guess I needed to process some stuff and so I created distance, it wasn't just with you though. I haven't really gone out with anyone much" Also true "And I am so sorry Maura it was selfish of me to just stay away especially with everything that happened with you this week, I should have been there for you. I am truly sorry." Jane lets out a small sigh.
That went better than expected, I mean do I feel good about bending the truth to Maura? No. Is this the most clarification I can handle around the situation right now? Yes. Jane thinks. The ME thinks for a minute "But why didn't you tell me what you were feeling? Isn't that what best friends do?" Jane sits up quickly "We are… best friends?" Maura's google mouth face appears and Jane just knows she is about to get an overload of facts and restated articles.
"Well granted I myself have never had a best friend to reference from but according to the research I did, the Oxford dictionary states that the definition of a best friend is a person who you value above other friends in your life, someone you have fun with, someone you trust and someone in whom you confide. The first person you call when you get good news or want to go out for a bite to eat. That to me is you, Jane".
Jane's heart melts right on the spot. Why does she have to be so damn cute all the time? She just said it loud and clear 'best friends' which is wonderful and surprising but what if I want more? Could I even have it all without ruining my career, her happiness, and our friendship? Jane asks herself before simply stating "You are that person for me as well Maura. Ok, bestie enough with the gooey emotional stuff for one night. Tell me about your identity thief. Please tell me you didn't try to meet her? She's a criminal and if I taught you anything it is that they are unpredictable".
Maura does a giddy little wiggle at the mention of the word 'bestie' "Ok but I still want to drink with you tonight, bestie-" ."Oh god, that is not gonna become a thing- juck!" Jane says, pulling a face, eliciting a laugh from the honey blonde. They order a round, wine for the honey blonde and Jane gets another beer.
Three rounds in and the two women are bent in half laughing. "Your turtle had explosive diarrhea all over a chihuahua in the waiting room- oh my god I'm gonna pee... What did you do?" Jane says between bursts of laughter. "What could I do? I handed the older woman a handkerchief that I thankfully had handy and just apologized repeatedly. It's not like Bass could help it. I felt so bad for him. And the chihuahua" Jane starts laughing again .''What a shit show"
Maura laughs at Jane's pun before asking "Shall we continue this at my house? Please we haven't spent time together in-'' Maura tries to calculate the precise time frame but three glasses of wine in and even the meticulous doctor comes up blank-"Too long. Waaaay too long Jane. Come on" Maura says as she calls for the check, comes around to Jane's side of the booth, and pulls the detective up by the hand.
Maura loses her balance a little as Jane stands and the honey blonde leans in flush against Jane. Jane looks down at Maura's parted lips, they are so close she could practically taste her. This is not happening- Jane says with half a dozen wtfs in her mind.
Maura starts playing with the detective's hair and asks "Jane?" Jane swallows audibly "Yeah Maur". Maura wraps her arms around the taller woman's neck. "Have I ever told you how much I love to dance?" Oh god I knew it. She wants to dance, doesn't she? Jane thinks in a panic.
It's bad enough that Jane has two left feet which the doctor knows but dancing with the ME could single-handedly ruin Jane's resolve not to take Maura right then and there the way she has wanted to for so long. "No, no no you know I don't dance Maura," Jane says ducking underneath, out of the doctor's hold.
"Please Jane, I can teach you and I promise you will love it once you get the hang of it. My instructor said I was good enough to teach the dance". There is very little in fact that the detective wouldn't do for the doctor, but this is not a good idea and Jane knows it.
"How about you dance and I watch, I am a visual learner rather than a practical one," Jane says confidently. Maura pouts but starts moving her hips to the soft beat of the music playing in the Dirty Robber. It's past closing time and they are the only ones left. Korsak gave a spare set of keys to Jane earlier and told her to lock up when they were done for the night.
Jane moves to the jukebox, without looking away from Maura who was dancing away and turns the music up slightly. The detective leans against the bar mesmerized by the swaying hips and bouncing hair as the doctor makes her way across the dancefloor. Jane realizes too late that Maura had been explaining the steps in the dance and was now holding out her hand to the taller woman to join her.
"Hmm? No Maura I told you, I don't dance. You don't even need me, honestly you are doing a fantastic job on your own". The honey blond sighs in frustration before a determined look possesses her face and she struts over to the brunette. Jane could swear she was moving in slow motion. Before Jane could protest, Maura pulled her by the hand with more force than was needed and the taller woman was once again flush against the honey blonde.
Maura positioned her hand on Jane's lower back and led the detective with her right hand. Maura whispered in Jane's ear "Since you clearly weren't listening to me earlier when I explained the dance I will just have to show you now. Just follow my lead". The doctor's breath on Jane's ear sent shivers down her spine.
Oh god, she smells good. And she's not wearing a bra under this dress, great. Does she even know what she is doing to me right now? Jane thinks to herself as she tries to move in sync with the smaller woman. With Maura's heels and Jane wearing sneakers, there is not that much of a height difference.
Jane forces herself to think of anything else besides Mauras breasts pressed against hers. Oh my god did she just put her leg between mine? Jane thinks as she squirms involuntarily in the doctor's arms "Jane why did you tell me you can't dance? You are a natural."
Jane is a little taken aback, every guy she has ever danced with has told her she is a terrible dancer and she knows Maura does not lie. "Really? Am I doing it?" Jane asks looking down at her feet. Maura giggles at the clueless detective and Jane could feel the motion from the ME's laughter on her stomach.
Maura breaks away and spins Jane outward then back in so the honey blond is now against Jane's back. Jane yelps at the sporadic movement. The new position with Maura's body against Jane's back sends jolts down the taller woman's body.
"My instructor said that dancing is a language, if you speak a different language than your partner, the dance wouldn't flow. Upon clarification, he said it's a compatibility thing. You just had the wrong partners Jane." Jane's knees feel like buckling as she hears the doctor say those words behind her ear. Jane decides rather impulsively against her better judgment to take the lead and spins back to face Maura.
"Mind if I try leading for a bit?" Jane asks mere inches away from the honey blonde's lips. "No please," the doctor says with a lower tone in her voice than usual. Jane places her hand on Mauras lower back and she swears she could hear a small moan escape the doctor's mouth. Jane proceeds to move them on the beat around the empty bar.
Glistening hazel eyes catch a glimpse of brown pools every now and then which elicits a dimpled smile from the doctor which in turn sends electric waves down Jane's body. What the fuck is happening? We should not be doing this but it feels so good… so right. Jane thinks to herself while squeezing the doctor's hand slightly.
I'll be damned. This is amazing. I could do this forever. Can she feel it too?... Fuck she is beautiful, how is it that I am the one dancing with her right now?. Janes thinks to herself as she spins the doctor outward and then in before she dips the ME. Maura giggles at the unexpected movement before she leans back into the dip on Jane's arm and a wide smile spread across her face. "You've been holding out on me detective".
The panic sets in for Jane and she is sure Maura could feel her heart racing against her. Jane gives a shy smile and Maura places her arms over Jane's neck. When the detective just holds her hand awkwardly where they left the doctors, the ME takes Jane's hand and places it on her lower back before returning her arms to Jane's neck. They sway back and forth as the song changes to one with a slower beat.
"Jane?" Jane forces herself to look into Maura's eyes. "Sometimes I don't know where you go.". They stop swaying but don't quite let go of each other. "What do you mean Maur? I'm right here". The ME proceeds. "I used to think that during a tough case you tend to zone out a bit more but lately you have been doing it a lot." Jane starts breathing slightly heavier "I'm sorry I don't mean to. I do listen to you. I promise". Maura smiles at the detective "Is everything alright? What is on your mind so much?". There it is, she's onto me. I knew it.
Jane thinks while trying to think of a response. "Honestly, the only thing that keeps popping up in my thoughts is your turtle's explosive diarrhea-" Maura bursts out laughing, letting go of the detective. Jane feels the absence of the doctor's body against hers. "Tortoise and you are deflecting Jane". "No really just the logistics of it will for sure keep me up tonight, I personally have never even seen a turtle poop before so imagine how baffling the thought is to me."
Maura crosses her arms "Ok you don't have to tell me if you're not ready but I am here Jane. If whatever is on your mind ever becomes too much, I am always here for you" That's the problem Jane thinks to herself.
"I know Maura. I am ok I promise. You don't have to worry about me. But thank you... Man we are genuinely the only ones here huh?". Maura starts twirling in the empty bar "Yes, we are, it's pretty romantic if you think about it". Ok, now she is actively messing with me, right?
This is a practical joke and some toupee-wearing jerk is gonna pop out of nowhere saying: "You have been pranked on this week's episode of lovesick moron." Jane thinks while searching her brain for a response. "Uh, I guess. So what's doing it for you? The low lighting from behind the bar, the criminally outdated music on the jukebox, or the crunch from the peanut shells under our feet right now?" Maura stops twirling and looks at Jane pointedly "All of it. Especially the peanut shells". The women giggle and Jane sighs a slight sigh of relief.
"We should go, it's getting kind of late" Jane says while slowly backing up to the jukebox, not breaking eye contact with the honey blonde. "Ok, but will you come over? We don't have work tomorrow and we finally have the full weekend off." Before Jane could refuse the doctor bats her eyes and walks over to the detective to take her hand.
"I am starving right now, let's make something yummy at my place and maybe watch a movie or something?" Jane can't help but get hung up on the last two words in the doctor's sentence. This is what I get. I avoided her for too long and now she's cashing in. Heaven help me, how much longer is this night? Jane thinks to herself as she turns off the jukebox. "Ok Maur whatever you want."
The women walk in the doorway of Maura's Beacon Hill home around midnight. Jane places her gun on the table by the door. Maura, you are too much sometimes setting up this little area for my gun and cuffs, Jane thinks. Hmm, the same way you kept the beer that I like in your fridge. The same way you... bought a premium sports package.
Ok either she is like the best person and friend in the world, which is plausible. I mean this is Maura. Or she likes having me around so much that she does all this stuff so I would be here more often? Too much. This is too much. Jane thinks as she goes to get a beer from the fridge. Maura pours herself some wine then kicks off her heels and sits on the kitchen island.
Jane watches the honey blonde's legs dangle off the edge. God even her feet are perfect. Jane says to herself. "So what do you feel like eating?" Maura asks before taking a sip of her wine. Jane moves to lean on the counter on the left of the fridge to create even more distance between them.
Maura's dress is hiking up a bit, giving Jane a view of newly exposed flesh. "Hmm, I'm gonna make you Arancini. Do not tell my mother that I know how to make it. It is her aunt's famous recipe and it's better than ma's. Actually, don't mention that I cook, period."
Maura's eyes go wide with intrigue, "You know how to make an authentic Arancini? I am impressed, Jane". Jane smiles shyly then breaks eye contact to search for the ingredients she needs.
"How can I help?" comes a soft voice behind her. "You can finely chop an onion and two garlic cloves and please tell me you have plain flour in your pantry," Jane says with her hands in a pleading motion "I have actually. I have kept it stocked since your mother started cooking here".
The taller woman swung around with a confused look "My mother is cooking in your kitchen? Why?" Maura expertly chops the onion finely, sending shivers down Jane's spine. Not just deft with a scalpel then. Jane thinks to herself.
"I asked her to teach me to make authentic Italian cuisine about three months ago. I've learned some complex recipes since then, '' Maura says proudly. Jane is taken aback by the fact Maura has been spending so much time with her mother. The woman can send Jahovas witnesses running for the door in a mere ten minutes of conversation and she has! Not to mention she drives Jane insane sometimes.
The women cook side by side and move in sync around the kitchen like it's a practiced routine. "What can I do next?" an excited Maura asks as she stands on Jane's left, her hand on Jane's arm, looking intently at the taller woman's near-finished product.
Jane takes an unnoticed intake of air at the honey blonde's touch and shakes her head slightly to rid herself of the thoughts flooding her mind. "Not much left to do, just gotta fry these bad boys up and voila '' Maura hums contently while she preis herself up to sit on the kitchen counter beside Jane.
She watches the brunette closely while she crosses one leg over the other. Jane watches helplessly as Muaras dress hikes up even further than before, flooding a heatwave into the taller woman's face. Jane clears her throat and brings her focus back to the task at hand.
"All done let's eat," Jane says hurriedly and the honey blonde moans in satisfaction and hops off the kitchen counter. Jane drops the bag of flour she was holding to the floor at the sound that escaped the doctor's mouth. It wasn't like a normal hmm as in yummy food.
It was a sound that the detective had never heard the ME make before. "Fuck a duck. I'm sorry Maur". Maura grabs her handy electric hoover from seemingly nowhere "Don't worry about it Jane" she says as she bends down beside Jane with the megafter in hand. "At least let me do it. It's my mess"
Maura crouches next to Jane who is reaching for the handheld hoover but Maura pulls it away "It can be tricky Jane just let me do it. Look it has a lot of confusing buttons and everything" Maura stands up and Jane follows. Jane reaches farther for it and she is now basically on top of the honey blonde who is holding it above her head "Maura just give it. I can do it''
Maura holds it behind her back forcing Jane closer. "You're gonna break it Jane just let me do it" Jane smiles at Maura, freezing in place as she finally holds the hoover in Maura's hands behind her back. They are flush against each other.
"Oh, I see... This is one of your little brain-satisfying thingies, isn't it? You like seeing the white flower disappear off the floor leaving a clean surface behind. You have just waited all night for me to make a specific kind of mess so you can pull out this thing, haven't you? Oh you are an oddball aren't you dr Isles?"
Jane teases and Maura starts giggling at the goofy way Jane said the last bit. "You know me so well, '' Maura says, then licks her lips at her suddenly dry mouth.
Jane realizes she's been this close to Maura, touching her arms behind her back for a few moments and she backs away slowly, flicking her mane to the other side. "I'll dish up for us while you deal with that. Do you want anything to drink?". "Ooh I'll have some wine, my mouth is suddenly quite dry". Jane closes her eyes in frustration, of the sexual variety.
The women eat their super healthy, past midnight meal on the couch. "God this is amazing Jane. Why have you been holding out on me? Suddenly you can dance, you can cook. What's next?" I can fuck Jane says to herself which brings a chuckle to the detective.
"What's so funny?" Jane is caught off guard. "Hmm?" just play dum Jane, you are good at that. "You were giggling. What were you thinking about? Unless I made a joke I am unaware of?". Think Jane, think. "Yes you said I can cook and this is only one meal so. Doesn't make me a cook. It made me think of a meme." Nice you actually thought of something in time Jane thinks to herself.
"What meme?" Maura asks as she puts her cleaned plate on the table in front of the couch and turns facing Jane with her legs bent on the cough. "It said, you cook one meal and it doesn't make you a cook, you write one song and it doesn't make you a songwriter but you kill one person..."
Maura nods slowly "Oh, funny" Jane puts her plate away. "It was funnier at the precinct when they sent it around" Maura grabs the remote behind her "You wanna watch a movie?" Jane is torn, she could spend all day, every day with Maura and not get tired of her but every moment with the doctor was agony for her.
So Jane made up her mind. She would see how far the doctor would let it go the next time they touch or flirt or god help her- dance. "I'd love to!". Maura's face lights up and she jolts up slightly.
"Just like that? No whining or 'I hate watching movies with you' or anything? Wow" Ok when she puts it like that I sound kinda mean Jane thinks. "First of all, I never said that I hate watching movies with you. I said I hate watching movies and you point out something that ruins it for me like the time you pointed out the faulty plotline in Homeward bound and I couldn't watch it again."
Maura turns and scoots closer to Jane. Lifting the detective's arm and placing it around her side. Maura places her head at the crook of Jane's neck and sighs contently. "I do that, don't I?" Jane is frozen in place. She could feel every breath that the doctor takes, not to mention she can see down her dress at this angle. Breathe Jane. The ball is in Maura's court. She thinks as she starts to relax into the new position.
They decide on a movie called Atomic blonde. Jane hasn't seen it but Maura says the reviews were good and it was full of action which she knows Jane loves. "Charlize Theron is in this, I love her movies, don't you?" Maura asks softly.
"Yeah I guess, this is an action movie right, not some sappy love story?" Maura looks up at Jane "For the third time it is an action thriller about a spy who has to find a list of double agents that is being smuggled into the West on the eve of the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989. What do you have against love stories anyway?" Jane sighs "Nothing, they are just usually cheesy, unrealistic, and stupid" Maura rolls her eyes "Is that all?"
Jane is blown away by the movie, to her surprise, she is fully invested and enjoys it when the smaller woman on her side jumps at the sudden loud explosions and sound effects. It never fails to amuse her.
Twenty minutes in and Maura looks at Jane "I want to stretch out on the sofa, will you lay with me?" Jane's first impulse is to run… like she's on fire but she remembers her resolve from earlier and clenches her jaw slightly "Yeah, let's get comfy".
They Stretch out, Jane lying against the back of the couch on her right side and Maura next to her on her back with her head turned to the screen. Maura takes Jane's hand and places it across her waist. Jane involuntarily takes a deep breath. If only Maura knew what she wanted to do to her right now.
With their new position, Jane watches the movie over Maura but finds herself staring at the doctor's features like she's memorizing every line, freckle, and curve of the face beside her.
An unexpected scene comes on. The scene is undeniably hot with Charlize's character going down on a woman. Maura's breath hitches at the sight of the women on screen. She starts to breathe slightly heavier and subconsciously fidgets with Jane's fingers on her stomach.
Jane's eyes are glued to Maura's reaction rather than the events unfolding in the movie. Maura bites her lip and it takes everything inside of Jane not to launch at the honey blonde and kiss her like she's been wanting to all night. Neither woman dares to look at the other. The scene was over much too soon, for Maura as well it seems. The doctor sighed softly when the scene cut away prematurely.
Jane is turned on to the point where she cannot even hear the movie playing. Jane has a whole other movie playing in her head. Maura squeezes her thighs together and brings them upward, bending her knees slowly.
Jane bites her lip hard. Fuck. Is she just as turned on as I am? Jane squeezes her eyes shut and tries to compose herself before she loses all control. She opens her eyes to find the doctor looking right at her. Maura's mouth is slightly open and the women are mere inches apart. "Maura?" Jane says, her voice nearly gone and sounding raspier than usual. "Yes, Jane?" the smaller woman says just above a whisper. "You're staring".
The ME licks her lips unintentionally "Was I? I just… wanted to ask you…" Silence. What is she doing? Jane thinks as her heart starts beating profusely. "What is it?" spills out of the detective with a more eager tone than she intended.
"I have been sitting at my desk a lot more than usual and... I have this knot in my lower back- actually everywhere." Jane moves her hand off of the doctor before she could think about her action. Maura glances down to where the detective's hand was before adding: "I tried to get an appointment with the masseuse but they are booked for the next 9 days."
Maura moves slightly on the couch. "I can't wait for that long. Would you mind um… rubbing my back? It's quite distracting." Jane's eyes go wide as she starts wiggling her feet nervously.
Is this how it's gonna happen? She hasn't mentioned any discomfort all night but Maura cannot lie yup, no hives. She is the suffer-in silence type though. Oh god, am I gonna touch her bare skin? Stop thinking about her like that, what if she's not into you? Jane thinks while her mind goes a million miles a minute.
The movie is still playing unnoticed in the background as the bright hazel eyes search dark brown ones for a response. "Uhm… O-k.. sure." Maura jumps up from her lying position eliciting a jump scare from the detective. "Great. I'll get the oils." Maura disappears upstairs before Jane could process what was happening.
Is she gonna take off her clothes? Oh god, this is how I die. I am gonna see her undressing, cause that woman has no ounce of modesty when it comes to her naked body, and I will simply pass away. Get it together Jane. It is just a friendly massage between friends- yeah right that ship sailed with the dancing. Or did it? Is she really just like this with her best friend? It's not too late to run, the door is right there. Jane thinks while rubbing her face ferociously.
The doctor comes back with two bottles of clear liquid and a big white towel. She places the items on the table then walks to Jane who is still sitting on the sofa looking wide-eyed at the doctor. The ME turns around and simply says "Unzip me". Jane makes a noise that can only be described as a petrified squeak mixed with a hint of arousal. Jane finds herself obeying and stands behind Maura.
The lights are still dimmed and the movie is paused. "Y-You want to do it h-here?" Jane barely manages to say before she clears her throat. Maura simply states over her shoulder. "I wanna finish the movie. It's good, isn't it? I can just sit upright while you work out the knots. I brought a towel to protect the couch from… the oils. Is that ok?"
Jane swallows audibly as she tries to grasp the tiny zipper at the back of Maura's dress "Yup, I like the movie..." Jane manages to say, her voice shaking as are her hands. "I know how skittish you are around nudity and everything that goes with it, so if you aren't comfortable with this you can tell me, Jane. It's ok"
The detective forces herself to calm down and normalize her breathing. She zips down the doctor's dress slowly, her eyes widening at the bare skin of Maura's back. "I am not skittish. I was just raised differently than you were. I'm fine Maura"
Maura's body breaks out in goosebumps as she lets the dress fall to the ground and steps out of it. It's not particularly cold in the room. Maura is still with her back to Jane who cannot manage to look away. "Catholic guilt. It's still common in almost sixty percent of people with a catholic background like yourself".
The doctor is now only in her blue lace panties. Before she could turn around Jane turns to the towel on the table and before she could take it, Maura beats her to it. She looks the detective dead in the eye as she spreads it over the sofa.
Jane refuses to break eye contact since she would then be tempted to sneak a peek at the gorgeously bare breasts in front of her. The doctor breaks eye contact, pointing to the now-covered coach. Jane glances for a split second at the almost fully naked Maura. She is even more beautiful than the detective could have imagined.
Her body curves in all the right places. If only the doctor knew how Jane wanted to kiss every inch of her alabaster skin. Her full breasts, light pink and firm. Her gorgeously toned legs and whatever the doctor was doing in her yoga classes does wonders for her ass.
"Fuck-" "-Sit," the women say at the same time. Did I say that out loud? Oh fuck. Did she hear me? "What was that Jane? Did you say something?" Jane moves to sit on the couch as Maura instructed "I'm sssitting. I-Is what I said". Maura looks skeptically at Jane. Then she bends picking up the oils from the table.
Giving Jane a clear view of her lace-covered ass. Maura backs up looking over her shoulder "I'm gonna sit between your legs. Can you focus on this area in particular right here?" Maura says, gesturing to her lower back.
Jane finds herself backing up and spreading her legs, making room for the doctor. "Y-Yeah ok. Do I..?" Maura sits and moves her long blonde locks to her front then looks over her shoulder to Jane "Here start with this one first. Spread it over my back. Then use your thumbs and the tips of your fingers in rubbing motions. Don't be afraid to apply a good amount of pressure, Jane". Maura says, handing the oil over her shoulder to the brunette.
Jane's hands start shaking again and she is sure Maura can feel her exhaling on her bare skin. Relax Jane. just get this over with, once the movie is done, so are you. Who am I kidding she's gonna make me spend the night isn't she? Okay just make it till then and you can take care of the ache in the shower later. Oh, fuck her skin is so warm… so smooth. God, I just want to drag my tongue over it. Jane thinks while spreading oil all over Maura's skin.
Maura drops her head backward and hums in satisfaction. Neither one of them is paying attention to the movie any longer "Hmm, go lower, Jane". Jane can feel the wetness pooling in her ruined panties.
Fuck she's gonna make me take her from behind if she moans like that again. Jane thinks as she moves her hands to where Muara desires. Jane places both her hands on the small of the doctor's back and circles her thumb over the tense muscles. "Wow I see what y-you mean, there are two knots here. Does it hurt?"
Maura opens her eyes and brings her mind back from where it wandered. "I wouldn't say it hurts but it is tense and uncomfortable at times. I shouldn't spend so much time at my desk. You can apply more pressure, you won't hurt me, Jane".
Jane relaxes a bit at the calming tone in Maura's honey-like voice. She shifts slightly to get a better angle at Maura's curved backside, her thumbs dipping slightly below the lace above the doctor's backside. "Oh, that feels good, Jane" Maura purrs. Jane bites her lip at the moan that once again escaped the ME's mouth.
"Another thing you've been holding out on me" Jane smiles a half-smile "I am full of hidden talents". Where did that come from? Am I seriously flirting right now? Jane thinks as the words leave her lips. "You certainly are. Don't stop... You're right on the spot that's been driving me crazy" Jane squeezes her eyes closed seeing as she can't clench her thighs together to relieve the throbbing.
After working the knots over fairly well the detective places her thumbs over them once more and applies pressure but holds them there. After a few moments, she releases the area to see the muscles spasm and the knots fade away. "Oh god, I felt them spasm. That feels so good Jane." Maura says as she drops her head once more and exhales loudly.
A cocky smile spread across Jane's face. She learned that from an ex-boyfriend who ended up cheating on her. If she had to go through that just to be able to do this for Muara it was worth it. Her smile fades. Fuck I have it bad for this woman.
She contemplates putting a gentle kiss on the honey blonde's shoulder, which was just begging to be kissed quite frankly. Fuck it I'm going for it she thinks as she leans closer, perching her lips in anticipation when suddenly, the doctor turned around looking Jane right in the eyes... "Do it".
Janes's heart stops right then and there. "M-Maura I-" the phone rings. It's almost 3 in the morning, it must be urgent whoever it is. The Honey blonde sighs in frustration and stands up. Jane rubs her face as if to wake up from a dream. A very good dream. Jane answers, her voice colder than usual and laced with annoyance "Rizzoli... Slow down, Frankie...Where? Oh for fuck sake are you serious?... I'm on my way"
Jane almost throws her phone but instead closes her eyes and lets her head fall back. "Fucking fuck". The honey blonde, covered up in the white towel, walks over to Jane "What is it? Did something happen?".Jane grabs her jacket, gun, and keys in a hurry "It's Tommy. They're saying he hit somebody. Fuck. They are arresting him. I have to go.-" Jane pauses and looks at Maura apologetically "I'm sorry I have to-" "Go Jane. Call me when you have any news.". Jane looks at Maura, covered in the towel one last time before heading for the door.
In her cruiser "Fucking dumb tits, good for nothing motherfucking Bratt, balls deep in stupid" Jane yells as she speeds off to once again deal with Tommy's mess. She hates herself for it but a very small part of her is relieved that she got out of there when she did, who knows what might have happened had she not gotten that call. "She's your best friend dummy. Get your shit together!" Jane says to herself in the rearview mirror as she drives to the scene.
**** I know this is an excruciatingly slow burn but the build-up, for me anyway, is the best. I am not saying that a big moment for the ladies isn't on the way cause it very much is. Lmk what you think, should the next part be told from Maura's pov? I kind of like the mystery of not quite knowing what she's feeling or thinking all the time. However her pov would be fun to write as well ;)*****
