It had been a few weeks. A few weeks of Weiss keeping a diligent eye out for her neighbor. Not the blonde one, obviously. But they had both managed to elude her since she had spotted them in the coffee shop on campus. She had seen the darker haired woman get into her car one day with her backpack on her shoulder, but that had been by chance. The noise levels had also become considerably controlled since their second conversation. But other than that? Nothing. Honestly, Weiss would've almost preferred the loud music to return so that she would have a reason to go back and knock on the door.

But today, her seemingly inescapable interest in her neighbor was going to be the least of her concerns. Or so she thinks, when she leaves her organizational behavior lecture and finds out that it's pouring down rain. Weiss definitely didn't have a jacket or an umbrella. Rain hadn't been in the forecast when she checked this morning. And she always checked. Seeing as how she really has no other option, she risks it, taking off in a brisk walk in the direction of the campus coffee shop. After a few long strides, well they were long for her, she feels the rain stop hitting her.

"You look like you could use an umbrella."

She recognizes the voice immediately, before looking over to see that her raven haired neighbor is now walking beside her, holding an umbrella over both of their heads. A small smile tugs at the corner of the woman's mouth.

"It definitely doesn't hurt. Thank you." Weiss slows her pace to a normal walk, continuing along the path to the cafe.

"Not a problem. Can't have you catching a cold or something from the rain. Wouldn't be good." She reaches out and grabs the door and pulls it open for Weiss, waiting for her to step inside of the warm coffee shop.

"No it would not." Weiss says before clearing her throat, trying to prolong their conversation.

"The weather didn't call for rain today though, so I'm kind of surprised. Glad I keep my umbrella in my bag. You know, just in case." The woman rolls back on her heels, still holding both the umbrella and the door.

"Would you like to have a coffee with me?" If she hadn't heard the words come out of her own mouth, Weiss would've denied she would've ever asked someone to have coffee with her. Why was she so embarrassed? "I mean, I think I owe you one as well." Brushing off her nervousness with a sigh, Weiss steps into the shop and turns to look back at her neighbor.

After shaking the excess rain from the umbrella and placing it in the holder near the door, the woman turns back to face Weiss. Her golden amber eyes are soft, yet seem to pierce through Weiss' chest at the same time.

"Sure. If you don't mind the company. I don't have anything else going on for the rest of my day."

"Oh. Okay. Excellent." Weiss gently clasps her hands together, still unsure of how she successfully had gotten herself into this situation, hoping her neighbor doesn't pick up on her nervousness.

"Blake." The other woman states, matter of factly, as they take their place in line. Weiss can't help but look over at her with a slight look of confusion on her face. "My name. It's Blake."

"Right. Of course." Mentally kicking herself for her lack of manners, Weiss moves to introduce herself properly. "How silly and rude of me. My name is Weiss. And it is very nice to finally, officially meet you, Blake."

They order drinks and take a seat at an empty table nearby.

"So, I'm guessing from the bag full of books and the fact that you were running out of the behavioral sciences building, that you were leaving class?"

"Mhmm." Weiss hums as she slowly nods in confirmation as she takes a sip of her coffee. "I was leaving my organizational behavior lecture."

Blake looks like she's contemplating something before speaking again. "You don't seem like a Master of Psychology kind of girl, so my next guess would be… business? Not that there's anything wrong with psychology, if that is your area of study."

"Management specifically. But yes." Not wanting to seem unobservant, Weiss tries to take a quick once over and see if there are any giveaways, but judging from her outfit alone, Weiss comes up empty. "You don't happen to have a bag, or any books. But you were also over near the behavioral sciences building. So what are you at Beacon for, Blake?"

"Well, Weiss," she notices how Blake straightens herself in the chair ever so slightly before continuing, "I had to pick up some forms and information for my psychiatry rotation that begins in a few weeks from a professor in that building."

"You're studying to be a psychiatrist?" It wasn't the answer she had been expecting. Not that there was anything wrong with it.

The small laugh that falls out of Blake's mouth lets her know that she's probably wrong in her assumption.

"No, no. Definitely not. I don't think I could make a career out of that alone. It's just one of my last rotations at the hospital that I need to complete so that I can take my board exams and graduate."

"So you're a doctor?" Weiss is unable to hide the surprise from her voice, and immediately feels slightly inferior.

"Hopefully soon. But not quite yet. I have one last year of school to get through and three rounds of board exams to pass before I can be that fancy." She shrugs her shoulders lightly.

Suddenly, Weiss realizes that all the previous times she had encountered Blake, and subsequently complained to her about the noise coming from her apartment, she had been exhausted from working her hospital rotation shifts in addition to her regular classes. And Weiss couldn't help but feel guilty.

"Wow. I feel absolutely awful for bothering you about the trivial noise. I bet you get hardly any rest, and here I am burdening you with my complaining." Hanging her head in shame, Weiss releases a heavy sigh.

"Oh no, it's fine. After the first year or so, you get used to being tired all the time. And honestly, you have every right to complain. Yang can be pretty loud and annoying."

Weiss can't help but huff out a small laugh as she notices the same small smile on Blake's face. Unfortunately, Weiss also notices the clock on the wall behind her.

"I'm so sorry. I lost track of time, and I have class in fifteen minutes and it's about time for me to have to leave."

"May I walk you there?" Stunned into silence by the offer, Weiss fails to say anything. "I mean, I have an umbrella so at least you wouldn't be rained on the whole way."

Of course Blake is just trying to be courteous. Nothing more.

"Only if you're sure I'm not keeping you from anything." Weiss says as Blake grabs her umbrella from the stand and motions for Weiss to walk out the door.

"You are not keeping me from anything. And I most definitely would never mind."

Blake stands exceptionally close to her as they make their way towards Weiss' next lecture. Closer than Blake had stood next to the blonde from before. Yang. Her other neighbor's name is Yang. But Blake was probably only close enough so that they wouldn't get rained on. It didn't stop the thoughts from swirling through her mind. Or from her noticing the heat from their proximity in contrast with the cold rain. When they reach the business building, Blake pulls up the hood on her jacket and hands the umbrella over to Weiss.

"Here. You'll need it for the walk after class."

"Don't be ridiculous. I can't take your umbrella." Weiss presses as she tries to hand it back. But Blake refuses.

"I have a raincoat. And you don't. You can always return it whenever. No rush. You know where I live." Blake jokes as she takes a few steps back down the front steps of the building. "Also gives you an excuse to knock on the door. If you wanted to." The tone of Blake's voice changes to reflect a bit of hopefulness that Weiss doesn't miss.

"Oh okay. I'll do that then." Stammering out her response, Weiss internally kicks herself for the lack of grace in her answer. And unwilling to admit that she may be a little too interested in looking at Blake's smile than anything else.

"Don't be late for class. And have a good rest of your day, Weiss."

"You too!" She yells after Blake as she begins her journey through the rain, Weiss watching her until she can't see her any longer.
