Over the next few weeks they didn't discuss what had happened between Blake and Yang that day, or anything about that day. Blake didn't want to risk upsetting Weiss again, and Weiss didn't want Blake to be angry with her.

Blake had gone home to Menagerie for a few days to be with her family at the beginning of holiday break. She had of course invited Weiss, who declined the invitation. Mostly due to the fact that Blake had chosen to put in extra time at the hospital over break instead of going home for the entire month.

Weiss had decided to remain in Vale and not go home to Atlas at all, seeing as how neither of her siblings would be going home either. And she had volunteered to pick Blake up from the airport this afternoon.

So here she was, waiting for her girlfriend at the end of the terminal area. Her chest fluttering lightly with anticipation. Even though she had only been gone for five days, Weiss had still missed her as though she'd been gone the entire month.

Blake had text her to let her know the plane had landed, so it was only a matter of moments before they would be back together. When she sees Blake rolling her luggage behind her, holding a jacket over her arm, Weiss' heart skips a beat. And she can't help but smile.

As soon as Blake makes eye contact with her, she begins walking toward her a little faster. Once Weiss is within arm's reach, Blake pulls her into a hug and lifts her off the ground, spinning them around once before carefully setting her back down. Weiss immediately pulls her in for a kiss, feeling Blake smile against her lips. When she pulls back, she sees the familiar dazed look on Blake's face.

"You look as beautiful as always." The dazed look settling down into a lopsided grin. Weiss takes her free hand and squeezes it in her own.

"Flatterer."

"Only because you deserve to be flattered." Blake leans to the side as they walk and presses a kiss against her cheek this time.

"Well I would be remiss if I didn't say that I was eagerly awaiting your return."

"Aw, you missed me?" Blake teases, bumping their shoulders together as they make it to the car.

"Of course I did." Weiss rolls her eyes as she gets into the car while Blake tosses the luggage in the back.

"Well, you are very missable as well." She flashes Weiss her typical Blake smile. "So how were your five days of freedom? I wasn't here to bother you, and Yang's been gone, so it was actually quiet. Must've been like heaven for you."

"Not quite."

Blake hums in response, looking out the window and smiling softly when Weiss reaches across the center console to hold her hand.

"What do you mean not quite? I thought it would be relaxing." Blake's brow furrows slightly.

"It's not heaven." Weiss shrugs as she gets out of the car and begins to make her way towards the apartment. "How would it possibly be heaven if you aren't there?"

When she no longer hears the sound of rolling luggage behind her she stops and turns around to look at Blake. There's a softness in Blake's eyes that Weiss hasn't seen before. But the smile is gone, and her expression is almost… sad?

"Blake?" Weiss' voice shakes Blake from her thoughts and she looks up and her expression changes.

"Hmm?" She hums lightly as she begins rolling her suitcase once again, this time continuing past Weiss by a few paces.

"What's wrong? You seemed, I don't know, not exactly upset when I said that, but I don't think I've ever seen you look like that before."

"Oh, I uh, I just don't think I've ever had someone say something like that to me before. That's all. I mean something that nice." Blake says as she holds her apartment door open for Weiss before pulling her suitcase down the hallway to her bedroom.

She leaves Weiss standing in the living room, feeling like someone had just shattered glass in her chest. She knew Blake had meant it to compliment her, but something about it left her feeling empty. It made her feel like she needed to hug Blake as tightly as possible and never let her go. To make sure she cared for her until the end of time.

Quickly making her way to Blake's room, Weiss finds her unpacking her things. She walks up behind her and carefully wraps her arms around Blake's waist, resting her head on the back of Blake's shoulder. She huffs out an empty sounding laugh before she brings her hands up to rest over Weiss.'

"Everything okay?" Blake's voice is tiny, barely more than a whisper.

"I just needed to hug you, is all." Weiss confesses as she squeezes her tighter.

"Oh, well then that's okay." Blake says, lifting her arm up above Weiss' head before spinning around to face her. "You give excellent hugs."

"Flatterer." Weiss mumbles into the front of Blake's shirt.

"But you give better kisses." She looks up into Blake's deep amber eyes and smirks.

"Is that so?" Blake only nods and smiles back. "Well, I could possibly be bribed into giving you a kiss or two if you were to agree to making hot chocolate and sitting on the couch and watching holiday movies with me for the rest of the day…"

"I would've done that anyways. But I am going to do more one thing first."

"Hm?"

"I'm going to steal just one kiss first."

Without hesitation, Blake closes the small gap between them and presses a chaste and quick kiss to her lips.

They spend the rest of the cold and snowy winter afternoon snuggled up on the couch drinking hot chocolate and watching tv. Weiss isn't sure if she's ever been this happy in her entire life.
