To say that Weiss had spent a little too much time trying to find the perfect holiday gift for Blake would be an understatement. But she wanted it to be amazing and perfect. Something Blake would love, but never ask for.
The day the mystery gift had been delivered, Weiss practically sprinted to the complex's mail center to get it. After she made sure it was the correct thing she'd ordered, she put it back in the box and wrapped it pristinely and hid it away until it was time.
What she hadn't planned on was waking up on Christmas morning with an arm hanging loosely over her waist, and the feeling of Blake leaning her cheek against her shoulder.
"Good morning." Blake mumbles into the shirt Weiss is wearing, instinctively tightening her grip on Weiss, pulling her in for a hug.
Rolling over to face Blake, Weiss brings her hand up to rest against her cheek, running her thumb back and forth over Blake's cheekbone slowly. Blake can only sigh lightly, her eyes still closed as Weiss' repetitiveness calms her.
"Good morning." Weiss whispers as she leans forward to give Blake a kiss before pulling back just far enough to still be able to whisper against Blake's lips. "And merry Christmas."
Her eyes are still closed as a smile makes its way over Blake's face, before she quickly opens her eyes with a look of excitement.
"It's Christmas." She grips tightly onto the extra fabric of Weiss' shirt.
"It is." She can't help but giggle softly at Blake's enthusiasm.
"It's Christmas. We have to get up." Blake rolls over on top of Weiss, giving her another kiss as she moves to crawl the rest of the way out of the bed. "Come on!"
"Slow down, Blake. Christmas isn't going anywhere."
Blake rolls her eyes playfully before walking back over and tossing the blanket off of Weiss, grabbing her hands and pulling her up off the bed.
"Let's go brush our teeth. Then we can make breakfast." She presses another kiss to Weiss' lips.
Weiss melts into the kiss, stealing another one before poking Blake hard in the shoulder and walking around her towards the bathroom
"You have morning breath." Blake looks at her with a mildly shocked expression.
"And you don't?" She quips back as she follows Weiss into the bathroom, where she is immediately handed her toothbrush with toothpaste already on it.
"Just hush and brush your teeth." Weiss says before shoving her own toothbrush in her mouth and begins brushing.
While they stand in front of the mirror, Weiss can't help but feel incredibly… domestic? She felt completely normal standing there looking like a mess, having just woken up, brushing her teeth with Blake. And when Blake occasionally makes a face at her or bumps her hip with her own, it makes Weiss smile. After they finish, they make their way to the kitchen.
"What would my favorite person like for breakfast this morning?"
"Coffee." She leans back in her chair and yawns, stretching her arms out.
"Coffee isn't breakfast." She gives Weiss a knowing look. "So what else would you like to have?"
"Nothing fancy. Cereal or something is fine." Blake nods, not looking to argue herself into making a full meal for them both.
"Would you like my cereal, or the marshmallow filled one that Yang eats?"
"Is it Yang's cereal?" Blake looks over at her and nods. "Then I'll eat Yang's cereal."
"Just because it's Yang's?" There's a half hearted smirk on Blake's face.
"Yes." Weiss sticks her nose in the air haughtily before looking back at Blake. "I'm sorry about causing the two of you to argue."
Blake's eyes immediately soften when they meet with blue ones.
"You didn't cause any argument."
"Well, you only started arguing once I left. Which I'm also sorry about."
"Yang was being rude, and making assumptions that were uncalled for. So we had a disagreement. And I slept at the hospital for two days." Blake shrugs like it's no big deal.
"Two days?" Her spoon clatters against the side of the bowl as Weiss looks up, wide eyes, at Blake. "Blake, why didn't you just come stay with me? You shouldn't have to sleep at the hospital. That's absurd."
"I just needed to clear my head and oddly enough, shoving myself into work helps." Blake shrugs again.
"What was the fight about?" This time, Weiss' voice is much softer. Mostly because she already knows the answer, her. Blake sighs but doesn't look away.
"Yang thinks I'm focusing too much on our relationship and allowing it to distract from what she calls my 'one true dream' of graduating from medical school." When Weiss moves to say something, Blake stops her. "But, she is incorrect. Only once have I gotten a grade that was lower than my average, which is still well above average."
"Are you sure? I don't want to cause you to lose sight of your dreams in any way." Weiss is the one to break eye contact, looking down into her cereal.
She hears the chair slide back, but is too focused on trying to hold back tears to see what Blake is doing. Within seconds, she feels herself being pulled up from her seat and moved to sit on the couch next to Blake, who turns to face her directly.
"You have never, not once, ever made me lose sight of my dreams. And you never will." She pulls Weiss into her lap and holds her when Weiss buries her face in her neck. "At the very least, you make me feel like I can achieve anything. It feels like I can do anything if I know you believe in me. And no one else has ever been able to make me feel that way." Blake reaches up and moves so that she can rest her forehead against Weiss.' "No one but you."
"I don't want you to have to choose between school or being with me. And if you do, you have to choose school. Promise?"
"Weiss, that's not-"
"Promise me." Blake breaks eye contact, not wanting to make a promise she can't guarantee. "You've worked too hard to let it go."
Her mind flashes back to her argument with Yang. And how Yang's insinuation that her spending time with Weiss and investing in their relationship was causing Blake to lose focus on her dream of graduating medical school. And how she was so angry with Yang, causing her to storm out of the apartment for two days and not speak to Yang for the subsequent time being.
"I promise." Blake's voice is so small that Weiss can barely hear it. She sighs deeply and closes her eyes again, continuing to rest her forehead against Weiss.'
She flinches in surprise when she feels hands cradle her cheeks. It's quickly followed by a calming sensation when she feels Weiss press a kiss to her lips.
"I won't bring down the mood anymore." Weiss whispers against her lips before kissing her one more time. "What would you like to do for the rest of the day?"
"Well, it is Christmas…"
