They had spent the rest of the previous day being lazy, and staying in bed watching tv. But today, Blake had been up early and off to work. Leaving Weiss behind to sleep for a few more hours and then to attempt to set up her new record player.
Turns out, Weiss was no good at plugging everything in the right way. So after an hour or so of struggling, she had resolved to wait for Blake so that she didn't mess anything up beyond repair.
About twelve and a half hours after she had left, Blake knocks on the door of the apartment and Weiss excitedly stands up and runs to open the door.
"Oh hi." Blake flashes her same old smile before Weiss rolls her eyes at her, smiling as well.
Turning on her heels and walking back into the apartment, Weiss turns her head to talk over her shoulder to Blake.
"So, I tried to set up my lovely new record player that my amazingly wonderful and thoughtful girlfriend got me. But I can't figure it out. Can you take a second look at it for me?" She asks, showing Blake her pouty face and puppy dog eyes.
"You have another girlfriend?" Blake teases as she sets her bag down and takes her jacket off, revealing her dark scrubs.
"Oh hush, you dolt." She slaps Blake's shoulder lightly as she walks past her. "How could I ever need anyone else when I have you?"
"Now who's the flatterer?" Blake quips back as she begins looking at the cables and connections to the sound system in Weiss' living room.
"Well, you deserved to be flattered." Weiss leans over and presses a kiss to Blake's cheek before wandering over towards the kitchen.
"And you don't?" Blake's voice is muffled as she speaks with her head behind a speaker and console table.
"Sometimes I just feel like I don't treat you as well as I should." This confession pulls Blake's head out from behind the console table, a look of disapproval on her face. "Like I take more than I give, and it shouldn't be like that."
"I hate to burst your bubble, Weiss Schnee, but that simply isn't the case." She walks over and boops Weiss on the end of her nose. "As far as I'm concerned, you are the best girlfriend I could ever ask for. And my greatest hope is that I can make you feel just as amazing as you make me feel." Weiss wraps her arms around Blake's waist, burying her face in her shoulder, finding the lingering smell of hospital and antiseptic in the fabric of her scrubs. "Not to mention, it makes me feel important when you need my help with stuff."
"Well, you don't have anything to worry about." Weiss places a quick kiss to the crook of Blake's neck, sending a shiver through her body. "It's pretty safe to say you make me feel all the best things." Before Blake can become too captivated, Weiss pulls away from her slightly. "So, let's see how this record player sounds, shall we?"
Pulling Blake by the hand, she allows her to sit down while she places a record on the turntable, situates the needle and makes sure it begins to play before returning to the couch to sit beside her. She nestles into Blake's side as she feels an arm wrap around her shoulder. Soft piano music begins to play as Blake starts to run her hand through Weiss' hair.
"Sounds nice." Blake whispers, not wanting to disrupt the music. "Something good for studying." Blake yawns quietly. "Or napping."
"It's too late for naps."
"It's never too late for naps Especially if they're naps with you." When she feels Blake's breathing begin to even out, Weiss leans up and presses a kiss to the underside of Blake's jaw.
"No sleeping until after dinner." She wiggles herself free from their snuggling spot and stands up, grabbing onto Blake's hands and making an effort to pull her up as well. "Come on. Let's eat and then we can go to bed early. I'm sure you're exhausted."
When they're both fully standing, Blake wraps her arms around Weiss and nestles her face into her shoulder.
"How do you feel about dancing?"
"In what way?" Weiss pulls away from Blake's grasp, not wanting to lose sight of her goal.
"Like if I wanted to dance with you. Would you want to do that?"
"It was never my forte growing up. I was able to excel at many things, but dancing was not one of them."
"Ah. Okay." Blake follows Weiss to the kitchen, leaning back on the edge of the counter as Weiss searches for something they can eat. After a few minutes of entertaining Weiss' fruitless search, Blake grabs her keys and Weiss' hand, pulling them to the door. "Come on Atlas girl, let's go get something to eat."
"Atlas girl? What's that supposed to mean?" Weiss snips back, not offended in the least. "Does that mean I can call you Menagerie girl?"
"Yeah. No. Never mind. Forget I said anything. Except for the food part. I'm hungry." She flashes that smile that Weiss loves, making Weiss playfully roll her eyes as they get in the car.
