Alucard woke up to find his son on the floor near the bed playing with some decorations he had managed to reach, and some that were far out of his son's reach; he would have to look into that. The elder vampire was hardly surprised he was awake, his son was an early riser. When Lisa was still alive, it was easier because she would get up with their child. Now he was on his own. For the first time, he wondered if he was good enough for his son. Dracula was gone. Only Alucard remained. Can I raise him as I would have a century ago? He wondered. Dracula had learned restraint because of Lisa. Dracula could devote all his time and energy to his son. Dracula could show Adrian the world. Alucard could do none of that. What would happen if both Integra and Adrian needed saving? Would he even have a choice? The No-Life King was at a loss. His undead heart broke at the idea of losing his son but was this the best place for the boy? On the other hand, what would be the best place? Vampires didn't exist to the masses; how could a half vampire child be explained.

In his brooding, he didn't notice the little body on the bed until there was a sudden weight in his lap. He broke from his thoughts and looked down at the boy. Adrian looked up at his father with a worried expression. "Ce s-a Întâmplat (what's wrong)?" He asked

Alucard shook his head. "Nimic nu este În neregulă (nothing is wrong). Iti esta foame (are you hungry)? Vrei micul dejun (do you want breakfast)?" He asked, hoping to distract his son from his sour mood.

Adrian perked up at the mention of breakfast. "Mic dejun (breakfast)!" The boy cheered and rushed over to pull his father off the bed. Alucard allowed himself to be led to the door. He debated phasing to the kitchen but Adrian needed to start learning where everything was.

Alucard led his son to the kitchen to see Walter had already started preparing a small breakfast. "Ah, I thought you would be up soon so I took the liberty of making him something to eat." The butler set the bowl of oatmeal down in front of Adrian along with some milk and brown sugar. The boy played with his food until a sharp look from his father made him start eating. "Some clothes also arrived this afternoon. I didn't know Adrian's size and assumed you wouldn't either so I took my best guess. Walter grabbed a nearby bag and started to set the clothes on the table. Alucard lifted up a shirt with a t-rex wearing sunglasses saying "you're dino-mite!" He rose an eyebrow at the butler. "It was the best that could be done on short notice," Walter defended. He pulled a picture book from the bag as well. "I also took the liberty of ordering some tools to help him learn English." Alucard leafed through the book and examined the large colourful pictures with boldly printed words in Romanian and English. Walter also pulled out a video with two puppets on the cover pointing at the background. The elder vampire sneered at the video. He would get the Police Girl to watch that with Adrian.

Adrian had finished his breakfast and was now inspecting the clothes. He kept running his hands on the denim jeans, unable to figure them out. He set the jeans down and continued to examine his clothes. He pulled out a pair of briefs and held them up for his father to see. "Ce sunt ei (what are they)?" He asked.

"Lenjerie (underwear). Vezi dacă se potrivesce (see if they fit)," Alucard answered. He studied the underwear for a moment to determine which side was the front. Walter pointed to the front and Hellsing's trump card handed the article of clothing back to his son. Adrian pulled them on and nodded, thankfully, they fit. The clothes the boy settled on was a navy-blue tee shirt with thick white stripes on the sleeves, the jeans, a pair of white socks, and a pair of black and neon green runners that lit up when he took a step.

"Ah, yes, Sir Integra wanted to speak with you once Adrian is settled," Walter informed. "Would you like me to take Adrian to Miss Victoria?" He asked,

Alucard considered his options. After a moment of thought, he nodded. "He can watch the video with the Police Girl," he instructed. He looked down at his son who was fiddling with the Velcro on his shoes. "Walter te va duce la Fata Polițistă (Walter will take you to the Police Girl)," he instructed.

Adrian started crying and clung to his father. "Nu (no)! Vin cu tine (I dome with you)! Nu mă părăsi (don't leave me alone)!" he sobbed. Walter watched sympathetically as Alucard weighed his options.

"Police Girl, come to the kitchen," the Master Vampire ordered. "Am treaba (I have work to do). Nu va dura mult (it won't take long). Fata Poliţiei va fi alături de tine tot timpul (the Police Girl will be with you the whole time). Vei armări un film (you will be watching a movie)," he informed.

He stopped crying long enough to look up at him in confusion. "Ce este un film (what's a movie)?" He asked.

Alucard mentally celebrated that his plan worked. "Imagini În mişcare cu sunet (moving pictures with sound). O să-ti placă (you will like it)," he answered.

Seras arrived in the kitchen, hair still damp from her shower. "What is it, Master?" She asked.

The elder vampire handed her the movie and nudged Adrian forward a step. "Take Adrian and sit with him as he watched this," he ordered.

The Draculina eyed the image on the cover and looked back up to protest but he was gone. Adrian noticed as well and was getting ready to start crying again. Seras knelt down to be eye level with the dhampir. She put on her friendliest face and smiled at the boy. "Why don't we watch this? We can have popcorn too. Tati won't take long." She knew the child didn't understand what she was saying but hoped that her tone would help. She stood up and held out her hand.

Adrian remembered that she was his father's servant in a special way that he was still too young to understand. He eventually took her hand and she smiled at him. "Walter, could you make some popcorn, please?" She requested. The butler nodded and the two left to the nearest tv room. Seras got Adrian settled, the Draculina plugged the movie in. Walter showed up a few minutes later. Having never seen the food before, Adrian looked at her and then back at the bowl. Seras mimed talking one and eating it. The dhampir grabbed one and ate it. He liked the crunchiness of it and started to eat more.

Now that he was ready, Seras started the movie. The puppets appeared on the screen and the boy nearly leapt from his seat. He looked over at her, alarmed, but Seras smiled and started watching. Adrian followed her lead and watched the puppets point at objects and say their name in Romanian and then in English. The puppets clapped and encouraged the audience to repeat the English word.

Adrian started to repeat the words and noticed Seras wasn't. He tugged on her arm and pointed at the tv. She chuckled and joined in on repeating the words. At least I'm learning a little Romanian, she thought.

Alucard sat in the chair opposite of Integra's and watched her from across the desk as she lit a cigar. He wondered what she would order. Would she demand Adrian leave? Could he follow such an order? Would it matter? Was he strong enough to break the seals if it came to that? He wasn't when he was under Arthur but it was just him then; now he had a fledgling and a child. Their futures would rely on him if Integra forced his hand. "A son," Integra started and pulled on the cigar, "a half vampire son." The Master Vampire waited in silence, much to Integra's surprise. He has never been this quiet, she thought. She could practically feel his apprehension. "I thought about sending the boy away," she admitted. The room grew darker and she was glad she was not a fearful person. She was sure the bonds would hold but had no desire to test them. She was also not a cruel woman. "But that would be needlessly cruel to you both," she continued and the heavy atmosphere dissipated. "Besides, he provides a rare opportunity. Legend says that dhampirs are excellent vampire hunters." She pulled on the cigar. "I will not send him away. He will be permitted to stay. He will learn how to hunt vampires and get the best education we can provide. If he proves himself able, I will make him my heir," she concluded.

Alucard ginned. "A child of mine being unable to excel? How absurd." He moved to stand up but Integra gestured for him to stay seated.

"I haven't dismissed you, servant," she scolded. "Documents will need to be made and strings pulled. It will take time. I will put myself as his legal guardian for obvious reasons. You will still be in charge of raising him." She pressed the buzzer for Walter. The butler arrived a few minutes later. "We need to create documents for Adrian. Contact Sir Irons and let him know of our situation and the papers Adrian needs." Walter bowed and left. She looked at Alucard. "I want him at the very least conversational in English by the end of the month and I don't want him crying every time he sees me," she orders, "dismissed."

The ancient vampire phased out of the room and joined Seras and Adrian. Seras paused the video and nudged Adrian and pointed at Alucard. "Tell Tati your new words!" She prompted. The boy still didn't know fully what she was saying but could guess what she wanted.

Adrian turned to his father and grinned. "My name is Adrian Tepeş!" He crowed.

Alucard grinned and ruffled his son's hair. "Very good," he praised, "foarte bine."

The boy beamed. "Foarte bine. Very good!" He chirped.

It was a few days later when Alucard was called to Badrick to deal with a ghoul infestation. There had been much discussion about what to do with Adrian. Seras needed to go and get some practice but the boy was still attached to his father's side. Eventually, Alucard had his way and the child was brought along with strict instructions to stay with his father and listen to him without question or hesitation.

With the three off, Integra turned to Walter. "Is this the right decision? He's five," she wondered.

"Alucard has a point, he does need to learn to fight and how to use his powers," Walter answered, "and you did say raising the boy would still fall to him." Integra unhappily puffed on her cigar.

Alucard sat on the stairs, sucking on a blood bag and watched Seras as she shot at the ghouls. Adrian was on the other side of the Master Vampire with a juice box as far from the ghouls as Alucard could get him. Adrian seemed unfazed at the carnage and was more interested in his juice than Seras slaughtering meat puppets. "She's better than I thought. But she'd have to be good for me to make her a blood relative," Alucard mused. Half a ghoul landed next to him. The ghoul groaned and tried to grab past the vampire to get at the dhampir. Adrian watched curiously as his father shot the puppet through the head. "Tinteşte Întotdeauna capul (always aim for the head)." He poked Adrian in the forehead. "Sau inima (or the heart)." He poked Adrian in the chest.

"Head or hear," Adrian repeated.

"Police Girl! When you aim, make sure to take out the heart or the head," he instructed, "these people didn't become ghouls because they enjoy it. There's no way to change humans back once they get like this. All we can do for them is to blow them away quickly."

Seras could feel the vampiric blood in her awaken. "Sir, yes, sir. My master." She reloaded her gun and Alucard was pleased as her reaction. The Draculina tore her way through the remaining ghouls like they were paper. Her Master walked towards her with Adrian holding onto his coat and staying close like he had been told.

"Looks like you're catching on…to what it really means to be a midian. Now! The trash has been taken out. Time to find the host vampire and take care of him too," he ordered. He watched as his fledgling started to cave to her hunger. He watched in anticipation when a bayonet pierced her neck. "What?!" He shoved Adrian behind him. More bayonets pierced through Seras. She fell to the ground in a bloody heap. Bible pages flew and attached to the outer walls. "A barrier?!" Footsteps approached and Alucard pushed Adrian towards Seras. "Rămâi cu Fata Poliţisă (stay with the Police Girl)," he commanded. The boy scurried over to her and crouched behind her, trying to make himself as small as possible.

Anderson approached with his bayonets in the shape of a cross. "We are God's representatives, earthly agents o' divine punishment. Oor mission is tae destroy doon tae the last wee bit thae fools wha' would oppose oor God. Amen."

Adrian recognized the cross and priest outfit. He had been told by both parents to avoid holy men no matter what. "Rămâi cu Fata Poliţisă," Alucard repeated at his son's whimper.

Integra had been unable to focus on her work and had taken to staring out the window when one of her intelligence agents came rushing in. "Sir Hellsing! Sir! A report from out Vatican attaché!" She turned to face the man. "The Vatican…Section XIII, the specialized secret agency Iscariot is on the move!"

"Iscariot Section XIII…the Catholic hit squad? How many agents?!" She demanded.

"They've only dispatched one person! Father Alexander Anderson, the Paladin!"

She pulled out a cigar. "Section XIII Iscariot…! The Vatican's unofficial enforcement squad…! It's the single strongest force they possess. Bearing the name Judas, the Section XIII that's not supposed to exist. Professionals in exorcism, oppressing pagans, and exterminating heretics. But why would they go to that town?! Bedrick is on our side of the agreed upon demilitarized zone. It's protestant land. This is a direct treaty violation! They don't particularly care about that. A vampire's raising hell near the Protestant/Catholic border. The fact that it's there means they'll stop at nothing to destroy it. Treaty violation isn't the only issue. There's Alucard, the girl, and the boy." The agent gasped. "What'll happen if that lot and Section XIII's Father Anderson bump heads?! A right bad scene." She picked up the phone and called Walter. "Walter!"

"Yes, My Lady. I have already received the report."

"I must contact the Vatican! Is there a way?!"

"I have already gone through the Archbishop of Canterbury. He is in contact with the Vatican. In anticipation of this development, I took the liberty of putting two of our combat units on standby."

"Excellent, Walter, gear type?!"

"Heavy. There's a chance they may encounter this Father Anderson fellow. Father Alexander Anderson, Paladin Anderson…Hit Man Anderson, Bayonet Anderson, Killing Judge Anderson, Angel Dust Anderson. Place of origin, race, age, all unknown…We only know one thing about him besides all the nicknames. He's a warrior and a supernatural creature specialist. In the same way that Alucard is out trump card against the supernatural... he is the Vatican's Section XIII counterpart trump card."

"…I'm going to Badrick soon as well. The Vatican negotiations are in your hands, Walter. Have units remain on standby. They aren't to move at all until further orders. I'm afraid if we mobilize, it will stir up trouble with the Vatican."

"Very well then, My Lady. Please do take care of yourself."

"I need a gun and sword…and two guards."

"Yes, Sir!" The agent saluted.

"When the monster killing Paladin, that Kill-em-all ideologist…meets up with Alucard and company, it will be a sight to see!"

Anderson was temporarily stopped by Adrian's presence but the shine of the boy's eyes and pale skin told him the child wasn't human. "Nice moon oot, ah? Ya freaks." Alucard drew his gun and Seras groaned in pain. Adrian managed to pull a bayonet out but somewhat burnt his hands in the process. Anderson noticed how Alucard's attention left him for a split second to look at the child. Interesting, Anderson thought. "My, my, wha' ae sweet voice. Thon maun really hurt, Lassie. Tha' on its laine widna' be enough to kill yer kaind thoo. Because no aw yin o thae went through yer hert. It's been a long time since ah went vampire hoontin'. Got taw hae some fun."

"Vatican Section XIIIthe secret service Iscariot!" Alucard smiled. Seras' eyes widen at the title. She had been warned about them. Ardian didn't know what Iscariot was but knew well what "Vatican" meant and crouched lower behind Seras.

"How right ye are…ya Hellsing moongrels. Sae ye're Alucard. Hellsing's trashman, the vampire wha's sided wi' humans and hunts ither vampires."

"What happened to the vampire that was here?"

"Ah dealt wi' him ae while ago. He was just ae punk. Nae time for even ae spot o' fun." The two walked towards each other until they were back-to-back. "The only yins left…are ye filth."

A manic grin split his face. "You don't say."

The two whirled to face each other. Anderson stabbed Alucard through the throat and Alucard shot the priest through the head. The Master Vampire pulled the blade out and walked towards the two.

Seras saw the body start to move. "Master!" She shouted as loud as she could.

"Don't speak, Police Girl. He attacked a vampire head on at night without so much as a surprise. He was a brave priest, though a fool. But…guess that's how it is with humans…" He dropped the blade. "These blade…he had the nerve to bless them all in some church. Even we need to worry about getting cut by these. Even vampires can't plug up the wounds they get from these. I'll pull them out now. Don't move."

Seras and Adrian were both looking at something behind him. "M…Master," Seras tried.

"I told you not to talk."

"Tati!" Adrian pointed behind Alucard.

Alucard felt the presence behind him and leapt away from the man. "The hell?!" Anderson simply laughed. The Master Vampire fired shot after shot and the priest kept getting back up.

Anderson pinned Alucard with bayonets through his hands. He grinned as the bullet holes in his forehead healed. "…A Regenerator…!" Alucard cursed.

"Aye! Ae technique humanity had tae develop tae fight the likes o' ye!" Alucard was turned into a pin cushion.

"Master!" Seras cried.

"Tati!" Adrian screamed.

Anderston laughed maniacally.

Integra landed just outside the building. "This is no time to be quarrelling with the Vatican! If Alucard's gotten into a fight, we have to stop it! Hurry!"

Anderson Held Alucard's head and continued to chuckle. "This, this was Hellsing's trump cairt? Wha' ae joke." He turned to deal with the other two but saw them gone. "Ho ho, saw she can still move after thon much damage. Seems ah underestimated the Draculina a wee bit."

Seras panted as she leaned against the wall as she walked. Adrian clung to her side, silent tears falling down his face. She pulled the last bayonet out and let it clatter to the ground. She managed a brave, if watery, smile at the boy. "We'll be okay," she comforted. We've got to run! G-gotta, got to run! Have to escape and report to Sir Integra. This whole mess is way over my head! She thought.

"Whaur ye heidin' off til? There's nowhaur tae run." Echoed down the hall. "Dust til dust. And dust is wha' ye're aboot tae become."

Seras grabbed Adrian's hand and pulled him along as she ran.

Laughter followed closer behind her. "Run, vampire! Run!"

She reached for a window and was repelled by the barrier. "Wha…what's that?"

Alucard's severed head was pinned inches from her face. "Tati!" Adrian sobbed.

"Tha' is ae barrier, wee lass. It's impossible for ye midians to get through yin. Just lie at peace and let us wipe ye oot. Ye fell beasts."

Seras looked around frantically for an exit but the barrier was everywhere. She pushed the boy behind her. "You're really going to kill a child? He's half human!" She had to do something to try and save Adrian.

"So?" Anderson walked closer. Seras stepped back and Adrian was trapped between her and the wall. "Wha' difference does thae make? Still a fell beast beyond savin'."

We're gonna die! We're gonna die! We're gonna die! She panicked.

"Is this any time to panic, Police Girl?" Alucard's voice echoed in her head. She watched the head liquify.

"Master?!" The blood formed a message on the floor.

Drink my blood, Police Girl. Then you won't just be a servant vampire anymore. You'll be a true member of our clan. Drink my blood by your own will, walk the night under your own power. As a No-Life Queen. Drink my blood, Police Girl. No…Seras Victoria!

Anderson was in front of her. "Ye're through."

Integra shot his bayonets to pieces. "They're two of ours. What do you think you're doing, Father Anderson?!" Integra demanded.

"Sir Hellsing. Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing…this maun be important indeed tae send the director hersel' furth."

"Father Anderson! This is in violation of an important treaty! This area is supposed to be under out jurisdiction! Withdraw at once! Failure to do so will result in an intense religious crisis situation! We can not let you do this, even if you are with Section XIII!" She commanded.

"Widraw? Widraw, ye said? We? We, the earthly agents o' divine punishment, Section XIII Iscariot?! Dinna provoke me, Babylon. Ye really think we'll give ground taw ye filthy protestants?!" He rushed towards Integra and her two body guards stepped in front of her and fired. Anderson cut through them both.

He tried to with Sir Hellsing but she locked blades with him. "Biological regeneration! And healing, too! Bloody monster!" She cursed.

"Every yin o' ye are. Jessies. Wha' ae joke. And yer high n' mighty Alucard! He lost his heid. Ah sawed it right off!"

Integra chuckled as she held him off. "You cut his head off? That's all?"

Seras levelled her gun at Anderston, huffing at the effort. "Get your hand's off Sir Integra! You freak of nature!" Anderson kept laughing.

"There's no way for you to win, Anderson. Walking away quietly would be in your best interest," Integra suggested.

"Just after ah finish ye off, fool wench…"

"Then you'd best hurry. If you dally…the one whose head you cut off will come back to life." Integra smiled.

"Whi…whit?"

Bats burst through the building. Adrain peeked out from behind Seras. "Tati!" He cried happily.

"So, you didn't drink it. Little simpleton," he chided in her head.

"Cut off his head? Stabbed through his heart? Don't think of him as one of those vampires. He won't die from just that!" Sir Hellsing triumphantly informed. "Just as you're the crystallization of anti-monster technology…the Hellsing family has spent 100 years gloriously building him into the ultimate undead. The Vampire Alucard."

Alucard reformed and Seras had to hold onto the boy to keep him from rushing over. "Master!" She cheered.

"So, what now, then? Anderson!" Integra demanded.

"Tha' figures. There's naw way ah can kill him wi' the gear ah've got noo." Bible pages fluttered around him. "We'll meet again…Hellsing. Next time ah kill a' o' ye."

In Seras' shock, Adrian slipped her grip and ran to his father in tears. Alucard scooped him up and Integra approached him. "How do you feel, Alucard?" Adrian eyes her suspiciously but didn't cry. He did cling to his father harder.

"Been a long time since my head got plucked off. So that's Father Anderson." He rubbed his son's back to help comfort him.

"A border skirmish in violation of treaty…an attack against agency members, with casualties…this will end up with a big demerit for the Vatican. But this is no time to be fighting with them, I think investigating the vampire here will prove me right…but I've discovered something important." She was interrupted by Seras emptying her stomach. "How was she, Alucard? Anymore useful than before?"

"Oh, the Police Girl? The usual." Seras fell over at his response.

"M-master!"

"Hm?" Alucard was inspecting his son's hands, pleased to note that they were already healing.

"Please, enough with 'Police Girl'. I have a name, Seras Victoria."

"Pipe down, you coward. Police Girl is good enough."

"You must be joking!"

"What does a lughead like you need with a name?"

"I have no clue what you two are on about," Integra sighed. All four left for home. Adrian staying firmly beside his father.
