Season 2
Episode 1
November 25th Picks up immediately where we left off. The ship is commandeered, and Tom escapes the facility with his family.
November 26thDaybreak when Tex meets the kid on the street, Granderson is shown around Avocet and Hamada is still searching for the Primordial. Team sneaks into power factory. Day ensues, Kara is kidnapped from the James and taken to avocet.
Episode 2
November 26th Picks up immediately where we left off. Kara is being held and Tex and Rachel are looking for her. Night falls, Tom, Thorwald etc. attack Avocet compound. Crew of the James takes back the ship. Situation in Baltimore resolved overnight.
November 27thGround teams return to Nathan James during daybreak. Tom tells kids they will straighten things out in Baltimore and then go home to Norfolk.
Episode 3
Opening shot shows Neils washed up on the beach in Florida. It states the scene occurred 13 days prior. A RHIB is pictured in the background. Scene establishes he washed up in Biscayne Bay. Assuming the RHIB had a full tank 400 of the approximately 680 nm from the Russian's sinking position could be travelled by motor. 19 hours or so at optimal speed for maximum distance. From there, drift using the gulf stream at approximately 1.5 knots, and average 10 to 15 knot winds, if he drifted at an average of 5 knots it would take 2 days 7 hours to traverse the remaining 270 nm. Total time stranded at sea = 3.5ish days, consistent with how long he could survive without fresh water.
Therefore, I assume Neils arrived in Florida on November 17th, placing the beginning of this episode on November 30th.
November 30th Tom and team are in the White House retrieving the hard drives and checking the Presidential bunker. Rachel's video diary states they have begun mass producing cure in the lab in Baltimore. And they are transporting some Doctors and Scientists to Norfolk. The opening shot shows its daytime. This would have to be pretty early in the morning., and the Helicopter is shown landing back on the James when it's underway.
Travel time between Port in Baltimore and Norfolk:7 hours at 20 knots. 4 hours at Flank speed. I think they'd probably go at Flank at this point.
Decrypted data from Whitehouse shows infection rate of Norfolk at 70% dated nine weeks prior. (On or around September 28th). This seems to be consistent with things going totally FUBAR in terms of things going dark in early October across the board.
September 9th, Secretary of the Navy records his message discussing the network of labs.
Flashback: 11/21 – Neils leaves the beach, everyone is dead.
Scenes on the ground with the SEALS. Rachel is wearing the same t-shirt as the scene connecting with Doctor Hunter. Just added a jacket. Scientists are dispersed via plane. When the kids are fishing it looks like later afternoon sunshine based on the shadows.
Flashback: 11/27 – Neils in Port St. Lucie meets the first immune.
November 30th Tom back on ship, Mason confirms their plane landed in Phoenix at 16:46.
December 1st I always side-eyed the lack of cold weather clothing, and particularly Tom's lack of winter attire when cleaning up his house since it's December in Norfolk. However, after checking the weather data on this day in 2014, the high was 75F and sunny in Norfolk Virginia. Color me surprised! I didn't realize that area can have warm spikes, and generally has temperate afternoons between 55-75F in early December... not that I believe the continuity team paid that much attention, but, I'll allow it cause at least Tom looks hot. Later that afternoon ground teams come back to the ship. Tom leaves home, Jed has not changed clothes from the scene where he told Tom to suck it up and go back. At sunset, Kelly leaves the ship.
December 2nd I'd imagine they affect some repairs and general maintenance during this pitstop also, and since multiple ground teams were leaving on rotation to find their families an extra day is warranted.
Episode 4
Flashback: Opening shot shows Ramsey's left sole survivors on their sub. Establishing shot states 5 months prior, putting this at the beginning of July.
December 3rd Rachel previously established she intends to come to Florida to meet with Dr. Hunter in his lab. Opening shots establish that the ship is underway. In all the shots everyone seems melancholy and thinking about home, so I imagine they'd departed a few hours prior.
Distance Between Norfolk and Palm Coast: 1 day 5 hours at 20 knots. 16 hours at Flank Speed.
December 4th Rachel records video diary for Dr. Hunter stating the cure has landed in Europe and they are on their way to him in Florida. She states they will first stop in Savannah to set up that lab. A few scenes later, they find out about the Solace. Scene introducing Wolf and Ravit establishes that shit really hit the fan in Norfolk 3 months ago. (Beginning of September). Tom commands they look for the Solace at flank speed. They find the Solace, and the mission commences. (Rachel has put on a sweater, but in the scenes where they return, she's wearing the same shirt from the day before and it appears to be sunset. Best guess is this all occurred on the same day.)
December 5th to December 6th overnight. Neils is shown being taken toward Sean after he told the immunes where to find Solace. I am going to assume it is either close to or just past midnight.
Episode 5
December 5th to December 6th Picks up immediately where we left off. Neils is on the submarine. Interesting note, Sean Ramsey had encountered Ruskov, and they are happy he's dead. The Spanish prisoner states he was drafted two weeks prior off the cost of Cadiz. Therefore, Sean was in Europe still. It would take Sean around 7 days and 17 hours to make it across the Atlantic at flank speed for a submarine. That means Sean arrived off the coast of America on or around 11/25… the earliest Neils could have met with the immunes is 11/27. So, we will add two days, and say Sean did not arrive off the coast of America until 11/28.
December 6th Early AM hours –The James is searching for the submarine, references stating their location being closer to the Bahama Bank. Neils tells Ramsey's about Chandler, Ned is wearing the same clothes. Nathan James goes to Quiet Two and proceeds at 4 knots toward North Bahama bank. Sean Ramsey states they are only 40 nm away from the bank. By sunrise, the Spanish mercenary is now dead. After clearing canyon, Ramsey's sub heads toward FL and they radio instruct the ground immunes to find Dr. Hunter's lab. Later on this day, after killing Hunter and finding the data for the Labs, Ramsey fires his missiles onto land to destroy all the labs.
Episode 6
Between episodes Ramsey travelled to the coast and was dropped off. Slattery states the canyon is 200nm out from the coast. Travel time = minimum 10 hours at 20 knots. The Ramsey's then begin recruiting in person.
December 9th Rachel states she's running out of everything, and she's spent the past 20 hours trying to figure out how the labs got nuked. Nathan James is still searching for the sub. Mike states they are going to run out of fuel soon if they keep doing so. Tom eventually agrees to set course to the lab off the palm coast. Anywhere from 10 hours depending on where they were hovering close to Bahama Bank.
December 10th Mission to Dr. Hunters lab to replenish supplies. Ground teams split, later Chandler finds the immune camp and get on busses. The team arrives at the hotel, secures Michener and makes it back to the James at sunset. Closing shots appear to be Golden Hour.
Episode 7
December 10th Picks up immediately, Michener is interrogated throughout the remainder of the evening, before trying to kill himself in the early hours. News broadcast shows Michener right after landing in Tallahassee right after the first case was reported in Florida. Broadcast states he was head of the US response, and they believed they had contained the virus already. Broadcast states Europe was already swept with cases.
Timeline Goof: Flights manifest states Brian Michener was flown to Tallahassee on August 2nd, 2013. Infection rate dates on the computer for Michigan are all dated in 2014.
December 11th Opening shot before Tom confronts Michener and turns him to their cause establishes its sunrise. Later that day, after some sleep and getting dressed, Michener is shown to his Presidential quarters and the episode concludes with Chandler saluting him.
Episode 8
December 11th Picks up in the same day as the last episode. Michener is shown appearing before the crew and gets his bearings, etc. They determine to set a course toward New Orleans, the course gets changed to St. Andrews bay when Rachel states they need to procure fresh water muscles.
Episode 9
December 12th Neils is woken up. Prior episode said they would keep him in a medically induced coma for 24 hours. It's a different day, Rachel has changed clothes and hairstyle from the wardroom scene in Episode 8. The mission to get muscles commences that day, Tom mentions they should be back by sundown, but they get delayed and are still on the ground at nightfall.
December 13th It's sunrise again, Ground team is just now heading back to the ship with Diaz and the kids. Toward the end of the day, Tom tells Diaz he can come check out the safe zone they may have located. Rachel kills Neils while Tom is checking out the safe-zone. Their timeline and continuity gets really squirrely here. When Rachel kills Neils she is wearing the same outfit and hairstyle as the entire episode. As is Neils, indicating this is a singular day, however she kills Neils while Tom is off the ship. I'm not sure why Tom would choose to review a safe zone overnight… but that appears to be what he's done.
Episode 10
December 14th Tom returns and states the safe zone is a no-go. Establishing shots show its early sunrise. Crucially, Rachel has changed clothes and hairstyle and has had time to dissect Neils body. Therefore, Tom must have gone to the safe zone overnight with Diaz. Neils body has set in with Rigor and discoloration in the opening shots of the episode. Michener has also changed clothes from the ones seen on the day Neils was killed.
They re-set course toward New Orleans. 11 hours from where they picked up Diaz at 20 knots.
Goof: Ravit states Kara is 15-16 weeks pregnant by her estimates. That puts the conception date around August 25th, 2013. Unclear why Kara wouldn't have noticed 2 to 3 missed periods by the time the vaccine trial commenced. Will just have to assume she is irregular, and perhaps attributed the missed periods to stress, which I think is acceptable given the circumstance. At 16 weeks, Kara's due date would be May 18th, 2014. Massive goof in the timeline from show. Frankie therefore must be born prematurely.
They spend the day investigating what Rachel did. By Noon she confesses. New Orleans is blown up that evening, and Tom sentences Rachel to confinement.
Episode 11
December 15th Picks up the next day. Crew launches a mission to assist in rescue efforts. Sonar needs to be repaired. They deploy sonar buoys but are pinned around the coast because of the submarine. Mission to the Oil Rig occurs.
December 16th Jeter gives speech regarding the deaths they suffered on the oil rig. Tom had to be down the rest of that day and night with an injury like that.
Episode 12
December 17th Nathan James is still hiding in the pass doing repairs. At least a day has passed. Val's Steri-Strip is gone, but her face wound is still fresh. As with everyone else's injuries. Tom decides he's sinking the sub that day. Final showdown commences. Ramsey is sunk toward the end of the day.
Episode 13
Preface, the timeline of this episode is especially problematic because there are multiple conflicting points, BUT, Tex's snakeskin Cowboy boots are the absolute highlight here. (34:53 if you want to see their glory).
December 17th Monologue where Jeffrey Michener states Nathan James will land at the docks in Vicksburg the next morning on December 18th.
December 18th Arrive in Vicksburg, Tex disembarks to find Kathleen. They get delayed because of the poor turnout but are running low on fuel to where delaying six hours is a problem Per Garnett.
December 20th Michener previously stated in the monologue they will arrive in Memphis, Tennessee on 12/20. Arrive in Memphis and encounter the immunes. Tex finds Kathleen. They dispense the aerosolized cure.
December 21st Michener states in the monologue that they will end the journey on the 21st at 10 am in St. Louis. Nathan James reaches St. Louis.
In Season 3, Episode 13, a shot of the plaque in the presidential cabin establishes the following: "This seal commemorates the at sea home of the United States Presidency, December 11th, 2013 – December 23rd, 2013"
Additionally, in Season 3, Episode 7, Javier Cruz' diary entries establish that somewhere between 12/21 and 12/23 the following occurred:
Michener was formally sworn in (we see that shot with the judge).
He was able to speak with his sister, Maria, who is bringing his nephews Manny and Luis to St. Louis.
The inaugural ball happens either on 12/23 or 12/24. I would imagine the night of 12/23 makes sense based on the plaque, establishing it as Michener's first night in the White House.
Javier's next entry is dated 12/25 or Christmas.
It establishes that they had caught the immune Curtis and that Danny and Kara are getting married 'tomorrow'.
December 23rd (evening) Inaugural ball, Danny proposes to Kara and she accepts. Scott is killed by Curtis
December 26th Danny and Kara get married.
Note: Thanks kelliebell & mks57 for pointing out that the crew would need time to secure the area before the President formally inhabited the new "white house" aka. old courthouse. I believe this makes a lot of sense and is the plausible explanation for the dates given on that plaque.
