Consciousness slowly crept in for Kat. She felt a sharp pain. Her head was killing her, and when she tried to hold her head in her hands, she realized her hands were bound. That's when she opened her eyes. The room was dark, but there were dim lights in the ceiling all the way around the room. It was a stark white room. She tried to get her bearings, it was hard to concentrate. She was groggy. Like she'd been drugged.

The last thing she remembered, she was walking back to her room. She watched Sherrif Cooper backing his truck out to head to the campsite. She remembered waving goodbye to him, opening the door to her room, then...nothing. She woke up here. Kat looked around the room. Willing her brain to clear the fogginess. She was on some kind of table. An exam table. Fear hit her like an electric shock. She tried to pull her hands free. Looked down, and saw she was bound to the table with handcuffs. Police issue ones it looked like. She wasn't getting out of those. Her feet were bound with straps to the table too. She was dressed only in the shirt she was wearing and her underwear. Vague memory of taking off her jacket and pants before going to bed...

She heard a whimper from over to her right and twisted her body so she could look. A line of empty animal cages ran the length of the room. Empty except for one. Inside she saw a girl. Her face was swollen, but Kat immediately recognized her. It was the woman who'd disappeared the previous night. What was her name? Kat's brain fought through the fog. Something with an S...Sofie, Sofie Lee.

"Sofie"? Her mouth felt like it was full of cotton. Kat wondered if she'd been gagged too.

"Who are you"? The soft voice whispered from inside that dog cage. Kat barely heard her.

"Sofie, my name is Katriona, I'm a detective from the NYPD. I was up here with my partner looking for you but...I don't know what happened, I can't remember how I got here".

"He took you". Sofie whispered again. "He took you just like he took me. And he's gonna kill both of us when he comes back". Then she started to cry.

"Sofie, did he talk to you? Is that what he told you? Sofie, if this is who I think it is, he isn't killing either of us today". Kat wasn't sure if she was happy about that or not. At least it would give Rollins more time to find them. She had no idea what time it was, or how long she'd been in this room.

Sofie continued to softly cry.

"Sofie, do you know where we are? Did you see where he took us"? But Sofie was past being able to talk and just cried quietly from the corner of her cage. Kat tried to free her legs, tried to get her hands out of the handcuffs, but it was no use. She tried to scan the room, to get any sort of clue where they were. It was a windowless room. The walls were like corrugated cardboard but appeared to be made out of metal. Maybe they were in one of those cargo crates.

"Noooo". She heard Sofie cry out, and then everything when dark. She felt the cloth over her face, and struggled to pull away from it, but as soon as she took a breath, she knew. It was chloroform. It only took that one breath for the room to fade to black again.
