A/N: What will happen to Izuku now that his dad's onto him? More importantly, what will the other vestiges do? Hisashi isn't exactly around very often so confrontation is probably out of the question, (also realistically he should be in Tartarus but, well, that'll be explained later) so he'll have to think of something else to say. And what about those residual Quirk factors?
Izuku felt himself grow very cold, and very still. "Uh… What exactly did you plan on doing with that info, dad? Kill me? Maybe All Might now that he doesn't have it?"
Hisashi shook his head. "No, no, honestly you having both All For One and One For All is perfect. And don't think I didn't recognize that floating you did in your entrance exam. You must have the previous users' Quirks as well, don't you?"
"Uh…" Izuku trailed off, and that was all the answer Hisashi needed.
"In any case, my lifelong quest to reobtain One For All is finally over, so with that being said, I may well consider retiring from villainy," Hisashi explained. "Tomura will need guidance, of course, but I certainly won't be making any big entrances."
"OK… dad…" Izuku said, not very clear about a lot of things. "Speaking of Tomura, do you mind giving me some info about what sort of stuff he'll have? I heard from the other vestiges that his Quirk is… Decay, if I remember right, so…"
"Now, that wouldn't be fair, would it?" said Hisashi. "Not unless you want Tomura to know you have One For All."
Izuku gulped. "Uh… no, no I really don't."
"Understandable," said Hisashi. "Have you even told anyone that you have it?"
"Well, obviously All Might, well Mr. Yagi, knows, but I haven't even told mom actually," Izuku said. "Mom does know about All For One though."
Hisashi nodded. "Ah, from your time with Uraraka. This Kodai girl will too, you know."
"Crap, you're right," Izuku groaned. "I should probably tell her not to mention it when I'm done."
"Yes, you certainly should," Hisashi said. "As for One For All, admittedly some of its Quirks aren't particularly obvious and could be attributed to a number of other things. There are some that are rather, well, obvious."
"Ah… right," Izuku said. "I guess I'll try limiting my use of it then, aside from the strength-enhancing."
"Speaking of that," Hisashi added, "You really need to learn better control, son. Breaking your bones every time you use One For All is absolutely not what you want to be doing."
"OK, but, uh, how?" Izuku asked.
"You're a smart kid, you'll figure it out," grinned Hisashi. "Now, my boy, it's time for you to get back to work with interpersonal communication." Suddenly the void blinked out, and Izuku found himself staring at Yui again.
"Oh, uh, Kodai-san?" Izuku said, finally. "Can you… make sure not to tell anyone about this?" Yui said nothing, but nodded. "Great, thanks," said Izuku. "Oh, and hope you get in!" Kodai visibly smiled after that, and Izuku let out a sigh. At that moment, however, his mom got home.
"Oh, uh, hi mom!" he said, quickly, as Inko watched the unfamiliar girl walk away.
"Izuku, that wasn't Ochaco," she noted. "Why was another girl here?"
"Ah, right, I, uh… had to give something back to her," Izuku explained.
Inko nodded. "I see… Well, glad that's sorted! Anyway, I bought more noodles since I'm making katsudon tonight! Do you want to help?"
Izuku beamed. "DO I!?" With speed neither he nor his mom really knew he had, he got to work setting up the kitchen because it was katsudon, dammit, he was absolutely going to help.
Soon enough the katsudon was ready, and Izuku eagerly began to slurp it down while he watched and read the latest news about All Might. As he scrolled through, however, something caught his attention: an article titled, "All Might Considering Retirement?" His eyes bulged nearly out of their sockets then and he started choking on his noodles.
"Izuku! A-are you OK!?" Inko shouted as he calmed down.
"I-I'm fine, mom!" he replied even as he set his phone down on the table. "J-just have a look at this…"
Inko read through the article and her jaw dropped. "Wait, what brought this on!?"
"I dunno!" Izuku said. "Mr. Yagi didn't say anything about this!"
"Well, that's, that's… I don't know what to say…" Inko sighed.
"Without a Symbol of Peace, what happens then?" asked Izuku.
"I don't know, Izuku," Inko said. "But what I do know is that Mr. Yagi likes you, and anyone Mr. Yagi likes is clearly the type of hero All Might would want someone to be. So get out there and be that hero!"
"I-I will, mom!" said Izuku, even as he rushed into his room. From there, the mindscape seemed to overtake him once more.
"Mr. Yagi!" he shouted as soon as he was inside. "Y-you're retiring!?"
"I'm nearly 60, young Midoriya," Toshinori sighed. "…And All For One gave me this." He showed off a nasty gash on his left side. "Blew out my stomach and a lot of my left lung… I'm lucky I can even stand with a scar like that."
"B-but then what do I do!?" Izuku shouted.
"Be a hero, young Midoriya," said Toshinori. "You always wanted to. And make sure that everyone knows who you are and who you aspire to be."
"O-OK, Mr. Yagi," said Izuku. "Still, though, weren't you supposed to be a teacher at UA?"
"I can still do that, you know!" Toshinori said. "You'll be seeing more of me yet, Izuku."
"Got it…" Izuku sighed. "But, uh, what about your secret?"
"Well, once I retire, there's not much point in keeping that secret, is there?" said Toshinori. "Besides, you're the one with secrets. More than one, really."
"Ah, right…" Izuku groaned. "By the way, when do you plan to officially retire?"
"This summer, likely…" Toshinori explained. "I'll be teaching as All Might for one last semester just to get to know everyone. After that, all Mr. Yagi."
"That… makes sense," Izuku muttered. "OK, so hopefully I got in! Oh, uh, Mr. Yagi, do you…"
"Signed an NDA on that, young Midoriya," Toshinori laughed. "You're not going to know just yet!"
"Damn," Izuku faked frustration. "Well, see you soon!"
With that, Izuku was out of the mindscape once more, and knew it was only 6 more days before the results would be revealed.
Those 6 days were the longest in his life as he stared at the PO box to see if anything had changed at all. But after nearly a week of waiting, finally a letter arrived from UA, and Izuku opened it up to reveal… a metal disk. That's odd… he thought. Suddenly a small note popped out of the letter. Oh, it's a projector… Izuku noted. Tapping the power button, the message played.
"Ah, Izuku Midoriya! It is I, All Might, here with your UA entrance exam results, for I will be teaching you this next semester! Now, on the written exam, you scored within the top 1 percent of all the examinees, which is impressive in its own right, and you're well on your way in! But that's not what you're here for, now is it!? Yes, the practical exam, which pitted you against hordes of villainous robots, had an excellent showing too! A solid 62 villain points for you, which would already lock you well in to the hero course, but that's not all! No indeed, for your selfless charge and evisceration of the zero-pointer, as well as the removal of the rubble around your fellow examinees, you've earned an additional 117 rescue points! That's right, you've earned a whopping 179 points on your practical exam, which even tops my score of 154! So without further ado, welcome to YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!"
Izuku stared at the projector, which blinked off, and he could hear his mom's excited shouts and crying behind him, and he found himself jumping for joy because seriously, who wouldn't!? And beating All Might!? He wasn't just in; he was the top of his class! "MOM I MADE IT!" he eventually shouted once he could form a coherent sentence.
"My baby Izuku!" Inko shouted through tears of joy. "You go on and show the world what you can do! Do it for the world! BE A HERO!"
"I WILL, MOM!" Izuku exclaimed. "I'LL BE THE GREATEST HERO EVER!"
After a few days to both a) collect himself and b) get his school supplies, Izuku was finally ready for his first day at UA, and as he walked through the blue gates once more, he soon found himself looking around at the other students with him. He saw Katsuki elbowing his way past people like he owned the place, Ochaco bubbling over with excitement, Kirishima very subtly flexing, (and was that red hair?) as well as Jiro and a whole host of others he didn't recognize. Eventually he got to his assigned homeroom, 1-A, and after staring up at the massive door, he stepped inside.
Once inside he noticed the room was chaos incarnate: The strict boy with glasses from the entrance exam was lecturing Katsuki about "disrespecting UA property," a blonde boy with a black streak in his hair was trying (and failing) to get one of the girls' attention, Ochaco was talking with another green haired girl who seemed to be croaking like a frog every other sentence, not to mention the flashy blonde with flamboyant taste seemed to be very subtly butting heads with a pink-skinned girl who Kirishima seemed to know. She introduced herself as Mina with a quick wave. As Izuku walked over to his desk, he also noticed the rather quiet Kodai, but then he was stopped by the stern boy and gulped.
"Uh, hi?" Izuku asked. "I-I'm Izuku Midoriya and I apologize for all the muttering!"
"I am Tenya Iida," the other boy said, "and it is I who must apologize! You managed to find the true spirit of the exam and in the process earned a score so high it surpassed All Might's!"
"Uh… thank you?" Izuku murmured, confused. He made for his own desk but then Katsuki got up.
"Alright, Deku, were you fucking with me this whole time!?" Katsuki shouted.
"Uh, n-no, Kacchan!" Deku said. "I just, y'know… did really well?"
"'Did really well!?' Fuck that, you cheated! What the fuck was that eruption thing you did at the end, huh!?" Katsuki demanded.
"I-I don't know!" Izuku shouted. "I just… saw someone needed help, and I, well… went for it!"
"Huh, so you grew a pair, didya!?" Katsuki shouted. "Well I ain't gonna let this bullshit slide! Next time we get the chance I'm gonna beat you, you hear me!?"
"Uh… OK…" Izuku sighed as he sat down.
Out of nowhere there was a rustling noise from the corner of the room. Glancing over in its direction, the class noticed a yellow sleeping bag, and out stepped…
"A hobo!?" the wannabe Casanova shouted.
"Not a hobo," the man corrected, "Your homeroom teacher. I'm Mr. Aizawa. Change into your gym uniforms and get outside. We're doing a Quirk Apprehension Test."
"Uh, Aizawa-sensei?" Ochaco asked. "What about the opening ceremony? Or orientation?"
"Real heroes don't have time for that nonsense," Aizawa said. "Now get outside. Anyone who isn't out there in 10 minutes is expelled."
Everyone rushed out the door then, not wanting to be expelled on their first day.
Once they were all out, Aizawa checked the timer on his phone. "5 minutes, 37 seconds. Not bad, but in a real life crisis someone may have already been lost. Work on that. Anyway, for this test, all of you are going to be doing 8 standard exercises, Quirks allowed."
"Quirks… allowed, Aizawa-sensei?" asked a boy with odd elbows and large teeth.
Aizawa groaned. "Your middle schools probably preached maintaining equality but the world's unequal. Don't know why the Board of Education doesn't let students use their Quirks for these things, but anyway, Midoriya." The green boy looked up. "You got first place on the Entrance Exam. What was your best baseball throw back in middle school?"
"Uh… 57 meters?" Izuku said.
"Use your Quirk this time." Aizawa ordered. "No stepping out of that circle, and the moment the ball touches the ground, that's your score."
Izuku nodded. Concentrating a flame in his hands, he wound up for a toss and used the massive buildup of heat and pressure to fire the ball like a cannon into the air. After a few seconds there was a beep. "504.7 meters," said Aizawa, checking the device.
"This looks fun!" said Mina as she watched the flaming ball soar through the sky.
"Fun!?" Aizawa shouted, glaring at her. "Let me ask you this: is a villain attack fun? Is losing a disaster victim fun? If your answer to either of those is yes, you are walking out the door right now. For all the rest of you: whoever places last in this test… will be expelled."
"Expelled!?" shouted a tall, black haired girl. "But surely that's unfair!"
"Life's not fair, kid!" Aizawa said, voice much harsher than before. "Especially not the life of a hero. If you're not up to the pressure, well you can walk out right here, right now. Or I can make you. Am I clear on that!?" Everyone nodded. "Alright, let's get on with this."
The first test was a 50-meter dash, which Iida handily landed a top spot in with a time of 3.04 seconds. Izuku, for his part, employed a similar trick to the ball throw, utilizing his heat to generate high pressure air currents to launch himself forward, (as well as a subtle use of Float) clocking in at 4.53 seconds.
After that was a grip strength test, which one Mezo Shoji, a large teen with multiple arms, absolutely dominated, with a force of 540 kilograms. Izuku used his fire to loosen the springs on the device slightly, causing it to register a force of 126 kg. Kodai shrunk the device, meanwhile, and after pulling on it she registered a force of 104 kilograms.
Then there came a standing long jump, which the sparkly boy Yuga Aoyama used his Navel Laser to blast past the sandbox, as did Katsuki with his explosions. Izuku employed a similar trick to the dash and also cleared the sandbox, although admittedly only just.
With the repeated sidesteps, Katsuki bounced back and forth with rapid explosions, completing the 50 reps in 30.27 seconds. Izuku's Quirks didn't really help, so he eventually got a time of 45.82 seconds.
Then there came a distance run of 1 kilometer, which once again Iida dominated, finishing in 1 minute flat; yet more fire floating carried Izuku over in a minute and a half, while Katsuki clinched a time of 1 minute 22 seconds. The frog girl Tsuyu's leaps landed her a time of a minute and 40.
After the distance run was a seated toe-touch that Shoji once again top-scored in, not only touching his toes but reaching nearly half a meter beyond with his extra arms. Izuku, meanwhile, had to resort to just using his natural flexibility, but after all that training with All Might he managed to just about touch his own toes, as did Katsuki. Additionally, an orange-haired girl named Itsuka Kendo used her larger fists to reach about a quarter of a meter past her own toes.
Then came a set of 50 sit-ups, and here Aoyama once again did noticeably well thanks to his natural core strength from bracing against his own laser. He finished the 50 in a minute and 36 seconds.
Finally, there was the ball throw. With Izuku having already proven himself in this regard, he sat out, while Katsuki blasted it away 705.2 meters, while Ochaco used her gravity nullification to land a score of ∞ meters. Kodai, meanwhile, shrunk the ball down and managed to toss it 345.7 meters.
With all the tests done, Aizawa flashed the scores on a screen, and Midoriya grinned as he saw he placed a solid 10th on the leaderboard. Jiro eventually found herself at the bottom. As she prepared to leave, Aizawa cleared his throat. "Alright, Jiro? Don't worry, you're not leaving. In actuality that expelling threat doesn't apply to the person who came last, it applies to anyone who's either not taking this seriously or is majorly crippling themselves to compete. Just so happens that usually that's whoever comes last. With that in mind…" Suddenly the disheveled man whipped around to glare at the half-and-half recommended student, Shoto Todoroki. "Todoroki. You've got Half-Cold, Half-Hot as your Quirk." Todoroki nodded. "Alright, well out there I saw nothing but cold. If you think this is some kind of game, then get out of my face right now. I don't care who your dad is, I can deal with the flak from him. But I am not having a student not bothering with half their Quirk on my watch. Do the exercises again, but use your fire if it makes more sense. I could see a few very obvious places for it."
Todoroki stared in surprise at Aizawa, but said nothing. He went back through the entire test again, very subtly adding some heat or fire to things like the ball throw (similar to Izuku) and the 50-meter dash. At the end his cumulative score was bumped up enough to just barely edge out Yaoyorozu.
"Alright, that'll do it," Aizawa said. "You're all dismissed except Bakugo and Midoriya." The two students in question stayed behind, a little confused. "Alright, I heard what you were shouting about, Bakugo, when Midoriya walked in to homeroom. Now I don't know much about him holding out on you but we do not threaten classmates. Am I clear?" Bakugo nodded. "If I catch you trying to pull something with Midoriya again it's detention. 3 times, you're out of here for good. Now get going." Bakugo scoffed, walking off. Aizawa turned to Izuku. "Alright, so I was watching your entrance exam footage and I'm fairly certain that Bakugo is right about one thing: you are holding out. Care to explain?"
Izuku sighed. He'd figured something like this was coming. "Well, you see, recently my Flamethrower Quirk seems to have… awakened, I guess; it's not just about flames or heat anymore, but energy release. Mostly still fire, though."
"Go on," said Aizawa.
"Well, during the entrance exam with that whole zero pointer thing, I… kinda let it all out," said Izuku. "I haven't really had the time to learn how to control the output, so I… broke bones."
"I see," Aizawa nodded. "I've had a few students like that before. Try and work on it before your internships start. You'll never know when you'll need it."
"U-understood, Aizawa-sensei." Izuku said.
"Alright, get to class," said Aizawa. Izuku nodded, and sprinted off to find Katsuki. He had to tell him something very important.
Eventually, Izuku found the spiky blonde in the bathroom, and he called out to him to get his attention. "Kacchan, I gotta say something!"
"What the hell is it, Deku!?" Katsuki shouted.
"Look, I… I was kinda holding out on you," Izuku said. "Wait, wait, before you, well, y'know… Let me explain!" he shouted frantically, raising his hands to block.
"This had better be good or I'm gonna deck you," Katsuki grumbled.
"Alright so, uh… y'know how I know All Might?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, still don't get how, but yeah," Katsuki said.
"Well, uh, I kinda… took his Quirk." Izuku explained.
"What the fuck!?" Katsuki shouted. "How the – hang on is that what you did to me when we were kids!? That was YOU!? Get over here!"
"Wait, wait, hold on!" Izuku exclaimed. "Yeah, that… was me. I didn't mean to, honest!"
"I'll believe you since I fucking got it back." Katsuki said coldly. "You take it again and you're in the floor, got it!?"
"Uh, y-yeah…" Izuku said. "Anyway so long story short I took All Might's Quirk which he probably was going to give to me anyway because he can do that, and, well, I used it during the Entrance Exam. Honestly wasn't really trying to, but y'know."
"Huh," said Katsuki. "The fuck does that mean for All Might then?"
"He's… gonna retire in a couple months," Izuku said. "I'll have to take his place eventually."
"Yeah, right, like that's gonna happen," Katsuki scoffed. "Gonna be me."
"Anyway, so uh I'm just saying you might have a bit more competition at the top…" said Izuku. "I mean, current number 2's Endeavor."
"He's got fire, I can deal with fire," Katsuki laughed. "Had to deal with you since forever. And I'm gonna make sure that whatever bullshit you pull out, I'm gonna be there to stop you."
"Yeah, uh, you go ahead and do that," Izuku laughed. "Just… don't tell anyone I took All Might's Quirk, got it? Kinda need to keep that secret."
"Wasn't fucking gonna anyway," Katsuki said. "If everyone knows your secret that shit ain't gonna be fun to deal with anymore."
"Only you would call me taking Quirks fun, Kacchan," Izuku laughed. "Now we gotta get to class."
"Ha. What even is it, anyway?" Katsuki asked.
"Uh… Modern Art History," Izuku said. "With Midnight."
With that, the two left the bathroom and mentally prepared for the comments Midnight would inevitably make about two young men hiding in the bathroom discussing things. Among several other things, some of which might be tangentially related to modern art.
After their first day, things gradually settled down, but considering it was UA, 'settling down' was a relative term. Because on their second day, Aizawa made an announcement after lunch. "Alright, so as some of you may have heard, UA is getting a few new staff members to assist with teaching you about heroics, and one of them is coming in now."
"Is it All Might?" Kirishima asked. "Man, that'd be so manly!"
"Since when does All Might have time to teach?" asked the tail-having boy, Ojiro. "I mean, he's All Might. I feel like he wouldn't have spare time."
"Isn't he retiring soon?" noted Kaibara. "I thought I saw something about that."
Izuku suddenly spoke up then. "I've got some insider info that says that he is retiring kinda soon but he will still be teaching."
"Really?" asked Jiro. "Who's your source?"
"Yes, this seems like significant confidence in your statement!" Iida added.
"I know his chief secretary," Izuku said. "We've met a few times."
"Deku over there ain't kidding about that," Katsuki added. "I've met the guy, he's a freaky skeleton man in a yellow suit."
"Well, if you're sure," said Yaoyorozu. Suddenly the door opened. "I suppose we'll see now…"
"I am… COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" shouted All Might.
"Oh my god it IS All Might!" shouted Kaminari.
"He's really here!" exclaimed Ochaco.
"Isn't that his Silver Age costume? Kero," asked Tsuyu.
"Looks like it," said Izuku.
"Well, students, I am here to assist in your learning of Foundational Heroics, or as I like to call it… HEROING 101!" All Might explained. "But first, no proper hero is without a costume! And I have in these briefcases your costumes, as developed to your standards! Everybody get suited up and meet me at Ground Beta, you zygotes!"
"Zygotes?" asked Todoroki. "Hardly appropriate wording, especially from All Might."
"Maybe he learned it from somewhere?" asked Izuku. Suddenly he heard Nana's voice. A friend of mine, Gran Torino, used to call him a zygote during training. "OK, yeah, just remembered something about his old mentor doing just that."
"Well, odd wording or not," said Kendo, "We'd better get going! Don't want to be late to class with All Might of all people!"
"That we should, Kendo-san!" said Iida. "Let us proceed!"
With that, 1-A headed to the locker rooms to get ready for their first Foundational Heroics class, most of them hiding a noticeable smile. After all, it was a class with All Might! This was going to be great!
When Izuku eventually finished up changing into his costume, (it was mostly the same one he'd planned to have as a kid but after some advice from Ochaco he changed up the hood and mask to not be as blatant of an All Might reference) he stepped outside, and immediately noticed Ochaco's own costume, which made her look rather more… developed than he was used to. "Oh, uh, hi Ochaco…"
"Uh, hey Izuku…" she said, cheeks flushing. "I was going for a spacesuit theme but I guess I should've specified the bulkiness… Right now it's, well…"
"Oh, no, I think you look great!" Izuku blurted out. "I just… wasn't expecting it, that's all." He had no more time to comment anything else because at that moment All Might spoke up.
"Alright, future heroes! Today, we will be doing… a battle trial!" he said.
"Uh, battle trial? Kero," asked Tsuyu. "What about combat drills or other training?"
"What better way to establish a baseline than with an actual battle?" All Might explained. "The premise is simple: You will all be paired up with another classmate as either a team of heroes or villains. Villains, you are defending a nuclear weapon you are threatening to activate. Heroes, you must detain the villains with capture tape or deactivate the core by touching the weapon. You have 15 minutes to do so. You'll each be paired off randomly, so make the best of who you're with!"
"Randomly?" Iida asked. "Surely that's not accurate to real hero work!"
"It actually can be, Iida-kun," said Izuku. "Lots of heroes have to team up at random to handle incoming crises since they're the only ones available."
"I see…" remarked Iida. "Well, in that case that makes sense! Continue, All Might-sensei."
"Alright, so, everybody take a ball out of this box! Whichever letter you get is what team you're on!" saying this, All Might hoisted a large box. Soon enough, everyone had a ball, and the teams ended up being as follows:
Team A: Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka
Team B: Mezo Shoji and Shoto Todoroki
Team C: Mina Ashido and Denki Kaminari
Team D: Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida
Team E: Tsuyu Asui and Eijiro Kirishima
Team F: Yuga Aoyama and Sen Kaibara
Team G: Kyoka Jiro and Hanta Sero
Team H: Itsuka Kendo and Koji Koda
Team I: Yui Kodai and Mashirao Ojiro
Team J: Fumikage Tokoyami and Momo Yaoyorozu
The first match was then announced, with Team A as the heroes and Team D as the villains. Izuku gulped as he heard this, and Ochaco sighed. "Kacchan's coming for me, I just know it," he said. "Well, I guess I'll keep him distracted while you go after the nuke?"
Ochaco nodded. "Yeah, and I can make myself float, so that should mean Iida-kun can't hit me…"
"Alright, that should work," Izuku said. "Wonder how the other two are doing?"
The answer was… not very well, considering the moment Katsuki and Iida had deployed the nuke in a secure location, Katsuki had stomped off, grumbling about "getting Deku to show his all." Iida caught up to him with his speed, but Katsuki wasn't having it, and eventually he told the uptight boy to "fuck off and deal with Round Face or else." Iida scoffed at the language but obliged.
The actual battle itself ended up in a victory for team A, with Izuku's flames managing to throw off Katsuki a number of times by igniting his sweat before he could do it himself, while Ochaco used the rubble and debris to create an obstacle course for Iida to navigate while she floated over the trapped teen. Katsuki, for his part, did manage several solid hits, including one that sent Izuku flying into a nearby wall, but Izuku had somewhat planned for that: Using Float to cancel his momentum somewhat, he kicked off the forming crater and decided that hey, if Katsuki wanted him to give his all, he'd give his all. Letting One For All's power course through him, he channeled it into his arm for a meaty punch into the blonde's torso, sending him careening into the floor. Izuku glanced at his arm to ensure it wasn't too badly mangled, but was aghast when he noticed that aside from his fingers, he seemed to be fine. Suddenly he heard Yoichi's voice in his head. Alright, kid, I just dialed back the power supply for you, so that's why only your fingers are broken. Don't pull something like that again unless you have to though, got it? I'm not gonna be your safety net next time. Izuku nodded, remembering the tip to concentrate his power into his fingers for later. In the meantime, he went back to the observation tower.
After the fact, All Might had asked who was MVP, with the answer being Iida, thanks to his constant and dedicated defense of the bomb without risking damage to the surroundings, compared to Katsuki blowing up several walls, Izuku cracking the floor, and Ochaco swinging around a massive pillar with reckless abandon.
The next match was also fairly intense; team B vs team I saw Todoroki freeze the whole building, but Yui had tricked the hero team by shrinking down the bomb; it didn't end up in team I's favor, however, as eventually Shoji tracked her and Ojiro down, allowing him to occupy Ojiro while Todoroki froze her and the bomb in place.
Then came team C vs team F, which ended up being a wash for the villains after Kaminari incapacitated himself shocking Aoyama and Mina found she couldn't get her acid to do much thanks to Kaibara constantly drilling the ground near her, throwing off her aim.
Team E vs team J was after that, and here the villains once again curb stomped after cutting off all the power, allowing Dark Shadow to rampage throughout the building, easily overwhelming Kirishima's defenses. Tsuyu managed to temporarily evade but then the A/C went to full blast set to 15 °C, and she felt herself slowing down enough to also be taken out.
Finally, team G faced off against team H, and here the hero team won once again thanks to Sero using Kendo's own big fists against herself and trapping her in his tape, with Koda being unable to call any support thanks to Jiro blasting the building with soundwaves that echoed throughout the empty structure, allowing for easy disarming.
Once the full battle trial was over and the students were dismissed, Izuku caught up to Katsuki as he walked out, and Katsuki made a subtle motion to his fingers, and Izuku froze. He'd noticed!? Katsuki said nothing, just tapped his wrist as though there was a watch on it, and Izuku got the message: they'd talk about what happened… later.
As it turned out, later was when the two got home, only to find that Mr. Yagi had shown up at Izuku's apartment for some reason, discussing something with Izuku's mom. The skeletal man turned to the two teens and motioned for them to sit. "Ah, welcome, young Midoriya, young Bakugo! I was just telling Mrs. Midoriya here about something rather important relating to All Might…"
"Cut the crap, Yagi, we know you're All Might." Katsuki said, causing Mr. Yagi to cough blood out.
"May I ask how you know this?" asked Mr. Yagi.
"I figured shit out during the Entrance Exam and then today I noticed that Deku noticed his arm wasn't broken after he punched me into the floor," Katsuki said. "Something's up and I'm pretty sure it's you."
"Well, you would be correct," Mr. Yagi said. "I hope you understand all this is confidential."
"Yeah, yeah, old man I got it," Katsuki said dismissively. "I also know how Deku got it."
"Don't tell anybody else that!" Izuku interjected.
"Nerd, I thought you were fucking smart," Katsuki grumbled. "He's the one you got it from and don't think I don't know that Auntie Inko doesn't know about you taking Round Face's Quirk."
"DON'T SAY ANYTHING ELSE!" Izuku shouted. "Uh, Mr. Yagi, what is it you were going to talk about?"
"Well, you seem to be having… control issues with One For All," Mr. Yagi said. "Unfortunately, this is not something I have ever had to deal with, so I don't really have much of a clue…"
"…And since you won't be All Might much longer it'll be hard for you to teach me…" Izuku noted.
"Well, you'd better learn fast, Izuku!" Inko scolded. "I don't want to hear about any more broken bones from just using your Quirk!"
"Alright, mom…" Izuku sighed.
Katsuki smirked. "Or don't, actually. Makes my job easier."
"Ha-ha, very funny, Kacchan," Izuku droned. "But yeah, seriously how should I go about that… is it like my fire's temperature or general output or something like that-"
"Cool it with the muttering!" Katsuki shouted.
"Oh, uh, whoops," Izuku laughed. "But uh, Mr. Yagi, I'll certainly think about it."
"See that you do, young Midoriya!" said the man. With that, both he and Katsuki left.
A/N: Apologies for the rehashing of admittedly somewhat boring early events, but since Izuku has Flamethrower obviously some things will go very differently. Oh, and I've also decided to change up 1-A's roster slightly, subbing out Toru, Mineta, and Sato for Kodai, Kendo, and Kaibara. Mineta for what should be obvious reasons, Toru because she does inherently not get much screentime, and Sato because he's kinda… boring. Kendo is, of course, Kendo, and I like Kodai, and as for Kaibara, well he's at least more interesting than Sato in my opinion.
