Every morning, James found it hard to leave his wife in bed. If he would listen to himself, he would linger in bed, making love all day. He had just finished this huge case for Mr Howard in Pembroke and needed his signature finalize the paper work. He would do the travel back and forth in one day.

Sarah was looking at him getting dress and enquired about his planned day. She asked if she could accompany him, which he gladly accepted. The ride would be better and she could have tea with Mr Howard's daughter, who was probably around her own age.

In the coach, they could not keep their hands off each other. Their lips would stop touching only when they were out of breath. His hand slid under her skirts as she parted her legs. She moaned loudly under his touch, but he reminded her that Jeremiah, who was driving the coach, might heard her. Her hand caressed his hard member thought his trousers.

"How long until we get there?" James asked Jeremiah though the window.

"Less than an hour," he replied.

Plenty of time, James thought. Sarah must have heard his thoughts since she started to unbutton his pants. Once his erection was free, she started to rub him as he showed her. He started to lift all of her skirts to allow her to straddle him. The space was small and it was the only position possible. Sarah held on to his shoulder as she sank onto his length. His head felt backward as he felt how tight she was against him. She started to move up and down. Both of their breathing changed, shortened. He held on to her buttocks and helped her to move faster. Her fingernails dug in the back of his neck as she felt her contract against him. He groaned loudly as he released his seed inside her. He kissed her deeply as he held her tightly against his chest.

She lifted herself off him and sat down by his side, putting her skirts back in place as he closed his breaches. The rest of the travel was uneventful and they reached Pembroke in time. They were greeted by Mr Howard, the general store's owner. When he saw Sarah, he fetched his daughter Anne and both girls left to tour around the small town meanwhile the men when inside to talk business.

Their life together was punctuated by several dinners in important families of Charles Town. James was working during the day meanwhile Sarah was enjoying her socialite lifestyle. One particular night, they had agreed to attend dinner at Charlotte's house. She was hosting Mr Benjamin Martin and his children, who have come to town in prevision of the assembly.

They had just sat down when James' assistant knocked on the door and hurries James to the office for some business that could not wait for the next day. He excused himself and granted Sarah permission to stay for the evening.

She really enjoyed the company of his many children, especially Susan. The poor girl lost her mother at such a young age; she would climb in Sarah's arm every time they would see each other.

After the meal, Sarah went outside on the balcony. She joined Charlotte and Benjamin, looking down to the street below. Since the assembly was tomorrow, a lot of people from different townships came to town and the atmosphere was tense. Men were shooting pistols, burning dummies, yelling. Sarah kept looking anxiously at the crowd, hoping to see James who had not come back yet.

"Harry Burwell is here recruiting. The governor has vowed if the assembly votes a single shilling to the Continental Army, he'll dissolve the body," Gabriel said as he walked toward them.

"Wouldn't that force our delegates in Philadelphia to vote for Independence?" Charlotte asked.

"Yes. Send us off to war alongside Massachusetts," Martin said.

Martin sent his children inside Charlotte's house. The festivities in the streets were not ceasing and it was late at night.

"Burwell will be counting on you vote. And he'll expect you to be the first to enlist," Charlotte told Martin.

"Yes, I imagine so."

She did not hear James walking behind her, but felt his hand on her back. He greeted Benjamin and Charlotte when they heard glass breaking inside Charlotte's home. It was a good timing to wish them a good night and the couple went home, locking the door behind them. The night had already fallen and they were getting ready for bed.

"I am not sure I liked what I saw in the streets today," Sarah said, as she brushed her hair.

"Me neither," James replied with a sigh.

He slid under the sheets and patted the space beside him. She joined him and he put his arm around her, holding her close, dropping a kiss on her forehead.

"If you have to vote for a levy tomorrow, what will you do, love?"

"I cannot believe this rebellion could become anything more than a flash in the pan. Of course I will stay loyal to king and country."

She nodded as she leaned herself against the pillows. He blew the last candle and hugged her from behind.

"Whatever happens tomorrow, I want you to be safe," he said just before he felt asleep.
