Hello there! We are back, I think I like writing this story a lot.
So Reading a few reviews and suggestions I think I should make the distinction in the story clear early on: God Eaters are Superhuman, as are Huntsmen and Huntresses but for different reasons.
God Eaters are very watered down versions of the Hulk. Fast, Strong, Durable, Healing Factor.
The RWBY Cast are humans in peak physical condition, their only edge is their durability via Aura, and a trump card via the Semblance.
I'm saying this now, because considering all the media I have at my disposal for both series. I want to explain the abilities and feats of the God Eaters before the story proper and I end up glossing over some things to save time in the chapter.
If all God Eater media is considered as canon in terms of feats. (The games, anime, etc.) Then God Eaters are way tougher than we give them credit for, they're all superhumans who can casually perform olympic level athletic feats. I think my favorite feat is courtesy of the anime, where several squads of God Eaters jump from a fleet of helicopters and land feet first with little to no effort showing no signs of damage or discomfort. (God Eater Episode 11) However, this should also speak for how strong the Aragami actually are. If a single paw swipe is enough to knock the wind out of a God Eater or in some cases knock them out, then it makes sense why they move around so much and incentivize the use of their shields, because one hit is more or less fatal for them. They are glass cannons in the truest sense of the word when battling an Aragami. They won't risk getting hit and duking it out with the Aragami, cause they will die.
The Huntsmen are a different story. The amount of punishment a character can take is dependent on their Aura, and the only characters who have enough feats to gauge their Aura are Yang and Jaune. Yang is strong enough to get thrown around by a small mech suit and have Aura to spare, while Jaune had used his Aura/Semblance to protect Nora during the fight with Cordovin who was in a mech suit the size of your average Power Ranger Zord and fall unconscious after. However, they're both outliers. Yang and Jaune may be similar in terms of capacity, while the average person will only have an Aura as strong as say...Weiss.
What I'm trying to get at is that there aren't many people who can contend with a God Eater in the RWBY Cast (There are exceptions: Salem, Hazel, the Maidens, etc.). There are some who come close, but will ultimately get one shot the second their Aura is depleted and takes their Semblance along with it.
I won't go into combat abilities here, I'll do it in the story proper. I hope I gave those who aren't familiar with God Eater something to think about.
Ruby Rose let out a quieted groan as she trudged forward. Her new partner for the next four years at Beacon: Weiss Schnee dragged her on. They'd been walking for the past hour or so, and she didn't know if they were even getting remotely close to their goal of retrieving a relic. To make matters worse, she and her new "friend" if she could even call the white haired girl that; had managed to start a forest fire after a failed skirmish with the Grimm.
"Today could not get any worse." Ruby sighed.
"That's the first thing that you've said, that I actually agree to." Weiss commented with a sideways glance.
Ruby sighed, kicking a pebble along the path as she trailed behind Weiss. She felt so frustrated, she was being belittled. Even though she wanted to blend into the crowd, Ruby at this moment wanted nothing more than to show Weiss up and prove that she was skilled as well.
She wondered how Yang was doing, she hoped her sister had better luck finding a partner. Ruby was sure that Yang's partner was a nice person, maybe someone as sociable as her. Yeah, that would be nice. An extrovert who would be friends with her on sight, because that's what extroverts do.
"Are you dragging your feet?" Weiss called out. "Pick up the pace, I'd like to be done with Initiation sometime in the next century."
Ruby muttered an insult under her breath, and carried on. Kicking the pebble at her feet with a little more force than she meant to, sending it tumbling into the nearby bushes. It landed with a thump. Ruby noted that the impact did not sound anything like a tree being hit, it sounded fleshy.
Ruby's hand immediately moved for Crescent Rose that was strapped to her belt. She knew better than to think that it was a person, if it was another student then they would've said something if the pebble had hit them in the head or something.
The foliage was unnaturally still.
Ruby glanced over to Weiss who had managed to walk off a fair distance. "Hey Weiss, I think there's-" Ruby didn't even have time to finish her thought before she dove out of the way. A white bipedal creature had pounced, and landed near her. Crescent Rose transformed to its full length as a scythe.
The creature looked up at her. She kept her eyes on it, the creature resembled the Creep species of Grimm. Her brain went into overdrive to analyze the creature before her. "Strong legs, and a large tail which it uses for balance." Ruby noted, and got into a lowered position. "Sharp teeth, and a large head which it probably uses for ramming and bashing." Avoid both, another mental note.
Ruby cocked her weapon as the creature roared, and the pair rushed into one another. Ruby stuck close to the ground, using her superior speed to get in close and slashing the area where she assumed it's Achilles tendons would be. Then slicing upwards in an attempt to decapitate it.
The creature was silent, so Ruby let out a calming breath. "What was that thi-" Ruby groaned, her side suddenly shooting with pain as she was launched from where she stood. Her back colliding against the trunk of a nearby tree, her head snapping back from the impact.
She gasped, the creature loomed over her. "How was it not dead?" Saliva dripped from its mouth full of jagged teeth. Her mind was racing, how was this Grimm still alive?! She'd swung hard enough to decapitate it, or at least slit its throat. She'd done it with countless Grimm back on Patch with Uncle Qrow.
No, she realized. It wasn't a Grimm. The Grimm aren't white, they're obsidian black, and have those stone like masks. This thing was a…
"Monster…" Ruby squeaked out.
The creature roared and rushed at her. Ruby was frozen, her body just seizing up.
FWOOOM
"Are you hurt?" Ruby blinked, her silver eyes locking onto her savior.
"Weiss?"
"Get up." Weiss instructed, looking at the state her partner was in. Tearstained eyes that seemed to have accepted she was about to die not a moment ago. "It's over now." The girl before her was a child, Ruby was only fifteen if she recalled correctly.
Ruby was shaken, and picked up Crescent Rose off of the ground. It went into its collapsed form as she looked back at where the creature once stood. In its place now was a raging fire, Weiss had essentially shot a flamethrower at it from her weapon.
"Thank you, Weiss." Ruby said.
The heiress smiled. "Don't make it a habi-look out!" Weiss shoved her partner to the ground as a triad of spikes pierced the ground Ruby stood on not moments ago. Her eyes widened, there was something moving in the flames.
The creature stepped out of the flames. The tufts of fur it had on its body had caught fire, but it didn't care. It simply shook itself, extinguishing the flames like how a wet dog would dry itself.
"That's impossible!" Weiss exclaimed.
The creature roared and pounced at her. Weiss was undeterred, and brandished her blade. She slid in close punching puncture after puncture into the beast.
Her eyes narrowed, it wasn't bleeding.
Hopping in place the creature tucked in its legs and spun. Its thick flat tail hit her in the hip, and forced her to the ground.
The sound of a gun going off echoed throughout the forest. The creature had paused, its slit eyes moving towards Ruby who had shot at it. "Leave her alone!" She cried out. The creature was more than happy to oblige, it charged at her.
Transforming her weapon, Ruby swung at it. The creature met the blade of her scythe with its jaws, and clamped around it. The young girl yelped as the creature thrashed, dragging her along with the weapon that was embedded in its cheek. Her body slammed into the trees, then the ground. Her Aura flickered as she was brutalized.
"Enough!" The sound of flesh being carved up reached Ruby's ears. She lay on the ground bruised, and sore. Her eyes then landed on the creature's face or rather its decapitated head. Beside the head was a pair of boots.
A hand came into view, Ruby weakly looked up. "Weiss?" She asked.
"No, if you mean your friend then she's safe." Upon blinking a few times, Ruby's vision adjusted. Before her was a girl about Yang's age. Dressed in white, and a red beret like hat. She was beautiful, Ruby noted.
Ruby carefully took her hand, and got into a seated position. Then noticed the massive scarlet blade the girl was toting around, how had she missed that?
"Ruby!" Weiss ran towards her, then stopping before the new girl. "We're grateful for your help, thank you for dealing the killing blow."
"No thanks needed." Said the girl. "My name is Alisa, Alisa Illinichina Amiella."
Alisa, Ruby noted the name. It was different, but it suited her perfectly for some reason. "I'm Ruby Rose, this is Weiss."
Weiss did a little curtsy as a way of greeting. "It's nice to meet you both." Said Alisa, effortlessly moving her blade and resting it on her shoulder. "But please, you should know better than to try and fight an Aragami. Please leave it to the trained individuals."
"Excuse me?" Weiss asked, she appeared to have taken offense.
"Alisa…" a weak voice came from the treeline. A young male also dressed in white, with auburn hair limped out. He was leaning against a nearby tree for support.
"Kota!" Alisa exclaimed, then rushing to support the male who seemed ready to collapse. "I told you to wait, you're still hurt."
The male who Alisa called Kota chuckled. "Sorry, I guess being electrocuted takes a lot out of a guy."
"Hey! We're not done here!" Weiss raved. "Are you suggesting you're better than us? Do you have any idea who I am?"
Alisa's eyes narrowed. "I see a girl who was mere seconds away from being devoured, and a second who wanted to martyr herself to save her friend from an Aragami." Weiss relented, Alisa's icy tone had gotten through to Weiss who began to pout.
"Alisa?"
"Yes? Ruby was it?" She asked.
" What's an Aragami? Is that the name of this monster?" Ruby questioned, Weiss turned her head. Also curious for an answer from the girl who seemed to know more than they.
Alisa and Kota blinked, shocked. "You...don't know what an Aragami is?" The pair shook their heads. "The creature that attacked you is called an Ogretail, as for what Aragami are. Well…"
"They're monsters, it doesn't look anything like a Grimm." the blonde who had introduced herself as Glynda Goodwitch concluded. Soma nodded, that wasn't an incorrect conclusion. His eyes moved to the corpse of the Ogretail he had dispatched a few moments ago, watching it dissipate into nothingness.
Ozpin simply stood transfixed at where the corpse was. "Soma, what can you tell us ab-"
"I'd hate to interrupt." Yuu interrupted. "But a thought occurred to me, if we're here and this Ogretail is here. Then...what else is here?"
Soma's eyes widened. "The Venus."
"Or worse." Yuu added, the leader of the First Unit looked over to the two individuals they had just met. "Professors, we'd love to stick around and chat, but there's a chance there's an Aragami in the forest over there."
"I'm sure the students can deal with the creatures, they're not professionals. However, they are well trained." said Ozpin.
"I'm sure they are Professor." Yuu began, and walked over to the edge of the cliff he and Soma had nearly gone over earlier. "But they don't stand a chance against the Aragami." Yuu's eyes narrowed, his mind shifting over to mission mode. Lives were in danger, if this was an Academy then there were obviously students, and if he were to read into what Ozpin had just said, then there were people in the forest. "Soma, we're heading out."
"Hold on!" Glynda interjected. "This is their Initiation, you can't interfere."
"This won't be an initiation, it'll be a massacre." Soma replied, slinging his God Arc over his shoulder. "Orders leader?"
"We'll retrieve my God Arc first, it went over the edge when I caught you." said Yuu. "Let's hope no one tries to touch it, or they're gonna be hurting all over. God knows being devoured hurts like a bitch."
Ozpin was taking note of the terms they used, it was too serious. Too morbid, just who were these people?
Yuu took notice of the look Ozpin was giving them, and sighed. "If we make it out of this alive, then we'll explain. We'll meet you back here if you decide to wait for us." Yuu and Soma shared a look, and then stepped off the edge of the cliff together. Yuu heard Glynda shriek as they stepped off, he smiled. "This place has no idea who or what we are."
It took only a moment, but Yuu and Soma reached the base of the cliff. The ground crunching beneath their feet from the impact. "Do you see it anywhere?" Yuu asked, his head swiveling around.
"Over there." Soma pointed. Sure enough, there it was. Yuu's God Arc, impaled and sticking out of the ground like a legendary blade.
"Good eye." Yuu complimented, and rushed to retrieve his weapon. His hand wrapped around the hilt, as he lifted it off the ground with relative ease. He inspected it, there were no signs of damage visible.
"So did you mean what you said?" Soma asked. "Will you really fill them in? I don't doubt your ability to judge character, but-"
"I won't reveal any military secrets." Yuu finished. "I know better, this place looks totally free of Aragami. They don't know what God Eaters are, and I don't think the concept even exists." Yuu placed the blade on his shoulder, and placed a hand on Soma's. "He reminds me of Doctor Sakaki, hiding something with kindness. I mean no offense to the Doc, but if Ozpin is like him..."
"Then we'll play our cards close to our chests." said Soma, to which Yuu nodded. "I'll follow your lead."
Yuu smirked. "Wow, it's almost like I'm your leader or something."
Soma rolled his eyes. "You do have a plan correct?"
"Of course." Yuu replied. "I'm going to gather everyone."
"And how are you going to-?" Soma didn't even get to finish his thought, as Yuu waved around a flare in his hand. It was standard issue to all God Eaters, but no one save for Yuu seemed to like to use them. "You never cease to amaze, leader."
Yuu smirked. "I try."
When Lindow Amamiya had seen the white light fill his vision, he assumed the worst. However, waking up in a strange forest when he had just been inside the abandoned carrier filled him with hope. He wandered, and found himself standing at a clearing in the forest. They were ruins from what he could tell, and seemed to be a good point to rest.
"Let's hope the others are okay." Lindow breathed, lighting a cigarette and took a drag from it. "You two especially." he muttered, his thoughts drifting to his wife and unborn child.
"Aw man! We're not the first ones here." Lindow glanced over to the side, and spotted a pair of teenage girls. One blonde, and one sharing his raven hair. The blonde one walked forward, and took notice of him. "Hey, are you here to supervise us during the initiation?"
Lindow had no idea what she was talking about, so he answered to the best of his ability. "Uh..no." Lindow replied, putting out the cigarette by stomping it under his boot. "Hey uh, have you seen anyone else around here?"
The blonde looked over to her friend. "You mean besides my partner here?"
That was on him, Lindow should've been more specific. "I'm looking for someone, about your friend's height, raven hair in a bob cut."
The blonde shook her head. "Sorry, can't say we have. Everyone's mostly out for themselves, kinda the point of Initiation." The word initiation was mentioned once again, Lindow was really starting to not understand his current predicament. Why were these kids out here, and from the looks of the one with the black hair and bow, armed with weapons.
"Let's start over." The blonde said. "I'm Yang, Yang Xiao Long. This is Blake, my partner." Blake threw up a hand in greeting.
"I'm Lindow." He introduced."Lindow Amamiya."
Yang tilted her head. "Weird name, but nice to meet you Lindow." Yang walked past him, and seemed to observe one of the many pedestals behind him. "So, who're you looking for?"
Lindow scratched the back of his head. "Well...I'm looking for my wife, her name's…"
"Sakuya Tachibana, or well Amamiya. I am married after all." Sakuya introduced herself to the pair she had managed to stumble upon as she wandered through the dense forest.
"It's nice to meet you as well." The girl before her who had introduced herself as Pyrrha Nikos, was a girl of tall stature who had long flowing scarlet hair tied into a ponytail.
"And you're Jaune, right?" Sakuya made sure, the blonde male nodded. He seemed a bit jumpy, and a bit awkward. She tilted her head, he reminded her of how Yuu acted when they'd first gone out on a mission together. "Are you nervous?"
"Huh?" Jaune jumped. "Oh, uh...no."
Wow, this boy was a terrible liar. Sakuya placed a hand on his shoulder. "Loosen up, or you'll find yourself freezing up at crucial times." Word for word, the same line she used on Yuu. She doubted it would work immediately, but it was something now Jaune had to keep in mind. "What're you two doing out here?"
"That's an odd question." said Pyrrha. "We're here for Initiation, same as you."
Sakuya tilted her head, she didn't understand what the red haired girl had meant but having people around her was a good sign. "I see? I won't lie, I'm a bit lost, and I don't know where I am. Can I tag along with you two for a bit?"
"Yeah, sure." Jaune was the one to answer that. "I don't mind, do you Pyrrha?"
"No, I don't." she replied. "A pleasure to be working with you Mrs. Amamiya."
Sakuya chuckled. "Please, call me Sakuya."
After a few more rounds of banter, the group moved on. Jaune and Pyrrha led Sakuya forward, and toward a cave that seemed to have been carved into the very rock. "Think this is it?" Jaune asked.
"Is what "it"?" Sakiya questioned.
"Jaune and I are looking for a relic to pass our Initiation." Pyrrha explained. "We were tasked with retrieving a relic, then returning to the staging area." Pyrrha stepped forward, and glanced around. She seemed to be getting a feel for the area, she knew the look. She'd seen many God Eaters do so to avoid getting flanked by secondary targets.
"Okay, I've got a torch ready." Jaune exclaimed. "Let's go in!"
"Hold it!" Sakuya cried out. "Just like that? You don't even know if this is the right place."
"I mean, it could be." Jaune argued.
"It also couldn't be, and you'd risk your lives for nothing." Sakuya countered. "I don't understand your reasoning for just going into some dark crack in the wall. No sane person would hide anything in there."
"Well I doubt the headmaster is sane." Jaune muttered under his breath. Sakuya shook her head, this was asinine. All her basic instincts were telling her that going into the cave was just bad news, couldn't these two tell that much?
"Pyrrha, do you agree?"
"I-" Pyrrha didn't manage to complete her thought as a blood curdling scream of pure agony resonated throughout the forest. Pyrrha felt a chill run down her spine, as did Jaune. Sakuya however, had somehow immediately identified the source of the scream and had broken into a sprint.
People were in danger, never mind her current predicament.
Pain, white hot burning pain.
That was what Russel Thrush was currently feeling, his back pressed up against a nearby tree as he held his arm; or what was left of it. His breath was labored, and he could barely think straight.
He'd encountered a monster. Not some Grimm, but a genuine monster that had managed to attack him and his partner. Bile surged up his throat. Oh Gods, his partner. He muttered a curse under his breath, that thing that had attacked them.
He thought he and Cardin could take it, after all there was only one of it and it was no bigger than a Beowolf. Gods he was so stupid, rushing in and stabbing it in the throat. The damn thing didn't even flinch, it just took it and then bit his arm off. Russel could remember the sensation, the razor sharp teeth piercing his flesh, crushing bone with no effort, and then tossing him aside with enough force to rip what little skin and muscle held his arm together.
That demon...then Cardin stepped in. It just took Cardin's attacks, and threw him back 10 feet with a hip check. Then he ran…
He left Cardin to deal with that thing alone.
Russel shut his eyes, screw Cardin. He was probably dead, he had to worry about himself. He had to get away from this place, he had to survive.
A heavy thud.
Russel paled, footsteps. Heavy footsteps, if it wasn't that thing then it was probably a Grimm. He'd dropped his weapons when he ran earlier, there was nothing he could do to defend himself right now. Russel forced himself to his feet, and peeked around the tree he was leaning against.
There it was.
The monster that had taken his arm. He'd never forget it, the white face, and sharp teeth. Walking around like the Creep Grimm. It didn't seem interested in him, and was more focused on something in the other direction. Perfect, he could sneak away.
When Russel turned he emptied his bladder. Standing right in front of him, were two more of the creature. They simply stared at him, their lack of lips baring their teeth into some sort of twisted grin.
They roared, and pounced. Russel could only scream, he was going to die.
A gunshot rang out, no it was louder than a standard gunshot. It was like someone had fired off a cannon. Russel could only look on in awe, a woman holding what he assumed was some sort of mobile cannon stood a few meters away.
"Get up!" She exclaimed, firing another shot from her weapon. Russel watched as the shot tore straight through the creatures. Leaving only bloody splatters, and scattered bits of flesh. She aimed down her sights once again, and fired. He heard a third thump from behind him, he assumed it was the one he'd seen first.
The woman rushed to him. "Are you okay?"
"You killed them all." Russel muttered, his head was getting light.
"Shit, you've lost so much blood." She had said. "Jaune! Pyrrha! I need help!"
Russel felt so far away, he could barely keep his eyes open as the woman before him screamed from what he could understand where instructions. Something about pressure, he didn't really listen...he just felt sleepy.
"Look Lindow." Yang sighed. "We don't know what to tell you, we don't have any idea where your wife could be."
Blake side eyed the two that were still conversing, Yang and Lindow seemed to communicate easily. She supposed it was for the best, she didn't really like being involved in long dragged out conversations. Blake was honestly more concerned about the relics in front of her, the Headmaster seemed to be fond of chess.
Blake lingered on the white knight piece. She always did like horses.
"Yeah, but I mean there's someone in charge here right?" Lindow asked. Blake rolled her eyes, she was convinced that Lindow was some distraction added by the Headmaster. Probably something about being public servants, helping people. She scoffed internally, too bad it didn't work.
"Who in their right mind would believe that a man's pregnant wife was somewhere in this forest full of Grimm?" Blake breathed, and turned to the pair still conversing. Yang was probably just humoring him, making sure that he did his part, at least she hoped so. If Yang believed this act, then she really wished her partner was just very nice and not stupid.
"Hey, here's a clearing!" A new voice had said, Blake spotted a pair of males exit the foliage, and head towards her. "Hi there!" one of them greeted.
"Yuu! Soma!" she heard Lindow exclaim, and rushed past her to greet the two newcomers. Blake blinked, not at how Lindow seemed to know them, but at their weapons. A pair of massive blades, and the two males were holding them as if they weighed nothing.
Yang approached Blake, and nudged her. "Any idea who those two are?"
"Lindow called them Yuu and Soma." Blake answered. "Don't know which is which though."
"Sakuya, is she with you?" Lindow asked, desperate. Blake had to admit, this man was committed to his role.
"Sorry Lindow, Soma was the only one I found." said Yuu. Going off what he had just said, then the tanned male with blonde hair was Soma. "I was going to use this, and get their attention." he said, showing Lindow a cylindrical object in his hands.
"A flare, good thinking." Lindow complimented.
"Who're they?" Soma asked, she could feel his eyes on her.
"Yang and Blake." Lindow answered, making sure to differentiate who was who to Soma. "I ran into them here, and I'm officially weirded out."
"That makes two of us!" Yuu cried out from his crouched position. "Flare's ready." On cue, the bright red ball of light shot into the air, and lingered there as a trail of smoke caught up to it. "Now we wait, and hope that the others aren't the only ones that notice the flare."
"What do you mean by that?" Blake asked.
"Yeah kid, what do you mean?" Lindow asked.
"Soma and I modified the flare a bit." Yuu admitted. "We laced it with Taunting Scent, about three ampules worth." Lindow's eyes went wide when Yuu had said that. "Yeah...we should get ready for a fight, like soon."
Blake didn't have time to ask what he meant by "Taunting Scent" as a sudden rumbling and what sounded like the roars of wild animals resonated throughout the forest. She and Yang locked eyes, immediately brandishing their weapons. Blake however was on edge, she didn't recognize any of those vocalizations.
"Taunting Scent." Blake muttered, realizing what Yuu had meant when he said to be ready for a fight.
"Let's not waste time, Soma and Lindow you two are the vanguard." Yuu instructed. "I'll play support and call out any changes."
"Roger that." Another thing that had caught her attention. Yuu didn't look any older than she was, and Lindow and Soma, who she assumed were in their twenties, were just taking orders from him.
"Blake and Yang was it?" Yuu asked, Blake nodded. "I'm going to need the two of you to stay behind me, or maybe get out of here. Actually I'd prefer the second option."
"Woah there." said Yang. "Yuu right? Listen, Blake and I can fight. So how can we-"
"You can't help." Yuu had cut her off, his tone was sharp and firm. "You'll only be in the way, now please leave or stay out of our way." Yuu had brushed her off with a sense of finality, and walked forward.
Blake had a feeling that she and Yang should be getting a move on, but Yang had gone after Yuu. "Hey! We're not done here!"
"Yang, maybe we should listen to the-" Blake's ears twitched, not her human ears. The ears she had hidden beneath her bow, picking up the sound of something screeching. Blake barely caught a glimpse of it as it descended.
She could only describe it as a fetus that had grown an adult woman's body. Where the head would be was this massive black growth that was attached from the head down to the lower back of the body. The single scarlet eye it had was locked onto Yang as it screeched, and the black mass had parted from the head revealing a second much larger mouth.
"Yang!" Blake exclaimed, and rushed to her partner.
Yang had barely turned around, and seen her attacker before she saw Yuu shove her out of the way. His massive blade thrust forward, and the creature had run itself through on Yuu's weapon.
The creature thrashed, and screeched before falling silent. Blood spraying as it tried to free itself from impalement. Yuu did not care, and threw the creature aside with a swing of his sword. The creature landed with a squelch, and ceased movement.
Yang simply stared ahead, her eyes moving to Yuu who stood in front of her. "Like I said." he turned to her, Yang gulped. The male's eyes were serious, the blood that had splattered on his face giving more definition to his eyes. "You'll be in the way."
Yang flinched when Blake had approached her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Let's do what he says." said Blake, her voice shaky. Whatever Yuu had just killed was no Grimm, and if more of those things were coming, then Blake did not want to be anywhere near this place when it happened
Yang nodded, and moved with Blake. A rustling in the foliage stopped them in their tracks, the trio of males they'd met were immediately on alert. An Ursa burst from the trees, thrashing and roaring.
"The heck is that?." Soma asked, as a pink explosion went off from behind the Grimm and knocked it to the ground. A girl, who she assumed was a fellow initiate rolled off the Grimm and onto her feet.
"That was amazing!" The newcomer exclaimed, then seemed to notice everyone present. "Hi everyone, did I miss anything?" Shortly after an out of breath male had appeared, and began scolding the girl.
Blake was just in awe of the absurdity of the situation.
"Great." Soma sighed. "More problems for us."
"Keep going!" Exclaimed Alisa, she was keeping pace with the people she had just met. Ruby and Weiss had Kota to support, while she covered their escape. A group of small Aragami had gathered, and were now chasing them. They'd just appeared, and Alisa was not enjoying this one bit.
She pointed her God Arc at the approaching horde, she'd shifted the weapon into its ranged form the second she spotted the first Zygote. Gunfire peppered the group, the gatling gun design of the ranged form of her God Arc was serving her well in this scenario. Allowing her to mow down an Aragami the second it got close.
Alisa looked over her shoulder, Ruby and Weiss were getting ahead. Kota who was still leaning on the girl in white for support was looking back at her. "Don't stop!" Alisa instructed, spotting a Zygote that had managed to slip past her. She pursued, firing round after round at it, but to no avail.
Alisa clicked her tongue, and morphed her God Arc into its melee form. Alisa gave chase, leaping into the air to deliver a slash that would cut the Aragami in half.
She missed.
"Ruby!" She managed to yell out, the hooded girl's eyes filled with fear as she saw the maw of the Zygote open up as it tried to get to her. However, it would not get the chance to harm her. Kota, raised his God Arc with a single arm and pulled the trigger.
The Zygote fell, splattering Ruby with its insides. "Don't stop." Kota reminded her. "I'll keep you safe, so don't worry." Ruby nodded, and kept moving in tandem with Weiss as Alisa barred the other Aragami from coming near.
"That will be the last of you to come close." Alisa growled, and rushed into the horde. She swung wide, cleaving three Aragami at once.
They were close, she'd seen the flare that had gone up. Yuu was the only one she knew that liked to use those, and if it wasn't Yuu then she'd deal with it then. Morphing her God Arc into her ranged form once again, she blasted the Aragami that continued to pursue.
She couldn't fight and keep track of Ruby and the others, especially when Kota was in that state he was in. Kota needed medical attention, and even with the enhanced healing that came with being a God Eater, she'd rest easier when a professional looked at him instead of relying on his own innate healing ability.
Alisa took a step back as an Ogretail lunged at her. "Why are there so many of you?" she growled, and took the head off the one that had just lunged at her. Then ran, she had to stick close to the group.
It took Alisa only a moment to catch up to them. "Give him to me." Alisa instructed. "You two need to run as fast as you can, now!" Alisa finished, grabbing Kota from the two girls and slung his arm over her shoulders.
"Alisa, I can-"
"Don't try anything, you dolt." Alisa countered. "Just try to move, we won't die here." The roars of the Aragami were growing closer, she had to keep moving. Alisa pushed forward, she could see a clearing only a few feet away. "Don't stop!" Alisa yelled, these girls had to survive. No one dies on her watch.
When Alisa had broken free from the forest, Ruby and Weiss were calling out to her to hurry.
"Move!" Alisa recognized the gruff voice, and threw herself and Kota to the side. Soma descended, swinging his God Arc that had gathered enough destructive power through his Charge Crush ability. Alisa turned, seeing the Ogretails that had pounced on her and Kota be blown away as Soma swung.
Alisa coughed as the dust began to settle, only to see a hand before her. "You made it." Yuu smiled, she returned the smile and took his hand as Lindow helped Kota to his feet.
"Sakuya?" Lindow asked.
"She wasn't with us." Alisa replied. "The only reason I was with Kota is because I was holding onto him when the blast happened." She saw Lindow's face fall, she supposed it was natural. Sakuya was his wife, his pregnant wife.
Alisa seemed to remember. "Ruby and Weiss, the girls I was with?"
"Over there." Soma added, pointing in the direction with his thumb. Ruby had jumped into the arms of a taller blonde who seemed to be equally happy to see her.
"Heads up, we've got company." Soma added, directing their attention to the treeline which had dozens upon dozens of glowing red eyes glaring at them.
Creatures colored obsidian black began to move from the treeline, and were stalking them. Alisa readied herself, as did the others. "Move back." Yuu instructed. "Kota's hurt, I won't have him in range of these things. Lindow, mind handing Kota over to our new friends?"
Lindow nodded, and picked Kota up.
Alisa stood with Yuu and Soma as they stared down these creatures that seemed to be gauging them. "They...look like animals." Alisa began, recognizing the look of some of the creatures. Russia did not have as many bears since the emergence of Aragami, but she still recognized the form that the creature took on.
"Orders leader?" Soma asked.
"Observe for now, I don't want us breaking formation until we see an Aragami." said Yuu. As if on cue, the first Ogretail had stepped from the treeline and then the second, more and more appeared, followed by the occasional Zygote. "You know, sometimes I hate the fact that the sensors at the Den are tuned to not pick up small Aragami."
Alisa couldn't help but agree, Hibari had warned them about the several larger Aragami that were headed their way back at the carrier. However, there had to have been many many smaller Aragami trailing with them.
The black creatures glanced at the Aragami, and Alisa noticed the animosity in their eyes. One of the larger bear-like creatures charged forward, and tackled an Ogretail. It roared and tore into the Aragami, but did not seem to be affected as the Aragami simply stood back up and bit off its head.
"Seems that they hate them too." Soma commented, Alisa could only watch as these small Aragami ripped the other creatures apart and then focused their attention on them immediately after.
Yuu sighed, readying his weapon. "Same crap, different day." Alisa did the same, and stood ready. "You know your orders, now let's get to work."
The sound of combat was nothing new to Pyrrha Nikos, she was practically desensitized to it at this point. However, something she was not desensitized to was the bleeding body of the male Jaune had on his back.
"Press forward." Sakuya told them. Pyrrha wanted to ask Sakuya regarding the creature she'd killed earlier, but Sakuya had brushed her off while she did her best to stabilize the initiate on Jaune's back. Then a flare had been shot up into the sky, and Sakuya had begun to move towards it with great urgency.
"Sakuya, ca-" Jaune began, only for Sakuya to cut him off with a raise of her hand.
"Something's coming." said Sakuya, and readied her weapon. Pyrrha had never seen anything like it, it was something of a mobile cannon, but it had the aesthetic design of standard handguns she'd seen before. "Get behind me." Sakuya instructed and pointed the barrel of her weapon behind her.
Then Pyrrha noticed it, the trembling of the earth.
"Oh my god." Sakuya paled. "Go! Run!" She urged, Pyrrha immediately obliged as did Jaune. Sakuya fired off a few rounds from her weapon, and then broke into a sprint. Something had worried Sakuya, the woman who did not seem perturbed when she found the disfigured body of a young man in the forest. Almost as if she'd seen countless bodies in the same state.
Pyrrha did not know how Sakuya was still faster than them when she carried that massive weapon. She and Jaune could hardly run straight due to the uneven ground and many trees in their way.
The rumbling grew closer, Pyrrha couldn't help but turn back. She paled, something was pursuing them. It resembled a woman with long flowing red hair much like her own, but her lower half was attached to a reptilian body like that of a crocodile, and was lumbering towards them at a great pace. Pyrrha fought back the urge to scream as she picked up the pace of her sprint, she did not want that creature to get a hold of them.
"Go!" Sakuya screamed, turning back once again. Pyrrha wanted to protest, but there was a loud click as Sakuya pulled the pin from what looked like a grenade. One flash of light later, Pyrrha saw the creature rear up on its legs in what seemed like discomfort. "Didn't you hear me?!" Sakuya added, shoving Pyrrha forward to continue her run.
Heeding Sakuya's instructions, Pyrrha continued forward.
She and Sakuya broke from the trees, with Jaune following shortly after. There were ruins before her, and chess pieces on pedestals. Sakuya had been correct, that cave was not where the relics were hidden.
"Sakuya?" A voice called out, as an older man had approached and immediately wrapped Sakuya in an embrace. This must've been her husband, Pyrrha looked a little ways off and spotted an additional group of people, among the others who she recognized as fellow initiates. Three were equipped with large blades, while one a younger male was holding a weapon that resembled Sakuya's.
"Sakuya!" Jaune cried out, catching her attention. "I don't think this guy can hold out any longer."
Sakuya's husband released her, allowing her to check on the male on Jaune's back. Pyrrha did not know much about medicine, but she knew that the human body could only lose so much blood, and if the paleness of his skin was any indication he was about there. Pyrrha noticed one of them
"We need to get him medical help." said Sakuya. "He won't last."
"We've got bigger problems." Sakuya's husband called out. Pyrrha's eyes widened. More of those creatures she'd seen had stepped out from the treeline, snarling and growling at them. Grimm followed, and would get eviscerated for their trouble.
Then Pyrrha remembered. "Sakuya, what about the one chasing us?"
"The one chasing you?" The husband asked.
"The Venus." Sakuya said. "Lindow, we need to get them out of here."
"I don't think that's an option." Lindow growled, his gaze tracking something in the treeline. Then it stepped out into the open, the creature that was chasing them. The one Sakuya called, the Venus.
Ruby Rose had never been afraid of the Grimm, ever since she'd learned to fight she was sure she was capable of taking on anything so long as she knew enough about it, and had Crescent Rose by her side. Today that all changed. These creatures, the Aragami as Alisa had called them, couldn't be hurt using their weapons.
They were surrounded on both sides, smaller Aragami who bickered and killed the Grimm were on one side. The other was a grotesque abomination that had crawled out of the forest, and the thing that scared her the most was that it looked human.
"We can bust through." The girl who she was introduced to as Nora said, but was stopped by Yang. Who pulled her back slowly, who glanced over her shoulder to Lindow occasionally as if she was asking for help.
"We're trapped." Yang's partner announced.
"Can't you do anything?!" Weiss asked Lindow. "We can't seriously be cornered?"
"There's no escape." Said Yuu. Weiss' face fell, as did Ruby's. She thought back to the encounter she had with the Ogretail, how scared she was, and how she could do nothing because nothing she could do would make a difference. Her hands shook, was she going to die here?
"Orders Leader?" That was Soma. "I think if we start now, we have a good shot at saving the injured one."
Ruby glanced over to Yuu who walked towards Soma, the others looked to him as well. "Standard rules of engagement." Yuu began. "Sakuya, Kota stick with the group and provide covering fire. Soma take out the small fry."
"Roger." Soma replied.
"Alisa, Lindow, the three of us are gonna take care of our friend over there." Ruby blinked, only three of them were going to fight the big one. The one they called the Venus. "This time, it doesn't get away."
Alisa stood beside Yuu, her weapon shifting into its ranged form. "Naturally."
Lindow sighed, and held his hand out. "Just another day at the office." It was only then Ruby realized something, Lindow didn't have a weapon like the others. He had a golden gauntlet on his right arm, but that was it. "Hey kids, make sure you all stay close to Sakuya and Kota." And with a flex of his fingers, a mass began to form in Lindow's hand. Ruby's eyes widened, a serrated blade made of what looked like to be flesh formed in his waiting hand.
Ruby's mouth hung open, and Yuu seemed to notice. "You know your orders, now take them out!"
On Yuu's command the group sprang into action. Sakuya and Kota began unloading shot after shot into their targets, all of them falling after taking a few.
Soma focused on the ones that weren't being shot at, but his blade made quick work of them. The way Soma swung it around was a dead giveaway that it weighed a great deal, which explained why it seemed to cut through his opponents much more violently compared to Alisa's.
Speaking of Alisa, she along with Yuu and Lindow seemed to have their hands full. Their attacks seemed to take effect, but the Venus carried on. As if it knew if it lost, then it would die. Yuu roared, landing a horizontal slash on the Venus' hind legs that stopped it from moving.
"Alisa!" Yuu cried out, the Russian God Eater rushed forward. Driving her blade into the Aragami's hide. Lindow followed up, his serrated blade cutting open its side, it squirmed and screamed. The fact that it could make such human sounding noises was what bothered Ruby so much, how it screamed like how she would assume a human would scream if they were being butchered.
The sound of flesh tearing caught their ears, a new appendage had sprouted from the Venus. An eyeball on a stalk, Ruby felt her stomach churn.
"Move!" Alisa called out, before a wall of light erupted from the ground. This thing was capable of shooting out weaponized beams of light, what next?
Yuu's weapon shifted this time, letting out a blast that Ruby could feel in her ribs. The recoil must've been stronger than Crescent Rose, it would've sent her flying if she tried to shoot it. Yuu rolled out of the way as more flesh tore from the Venus, a pointed stinger hovered like a scorpion's tail. It struck the spots where Lindow and Alisa were, but they were quick. Moving out of the way and countering with a few quick shots of their weapon's ranged form.
"It's up!" said Lindow, Rushing in as the Venus swiped at him. Electricity surged around the Venus, while the other two continued to fire on it.
"Out of Ammo!" Yuu announced.
"Same here!" Alisa said, shifting her weapon back into a blade.
Yuu growled, sending a glance over to their group. No, that wasn't right. He was looking at the bleeding boy that Jaune was carrying, they still couldn't move. Not with Soma dealing with the ever increasing horde, and not while Yuu and the others were dealing with the Venus.
"Let's risk it." Yuu announced, catching Alisa and Lindow's attention.
"Kid, we don't have enough data on the thing." Lindow reasoned. "We have no idea where its core is."
"Then I'll get close." Yuu answered. "Back me up, if you won't then someone dies."
Ruby didn't know what they were planning, but it filled her with hope. "Go Yuu!" she found herself screaming, and that brought a smile to Yuu's face. Lindow and Alisa rushed at the Venus, hacking and slashing at it to get its attention.
Alisa deployed her shield just as it swiped at her, the impact sending her flying back. Lindow swung at the human body, but an electric field made him fall back.
"Gotcha." Yuu smirked.
What followed was insane to watch. Yuu held his blade as if he was about to thrust it into the creature, but he did not. With a forceful tug of the weapon's hilt, a pair of fleshy black jaws sprouted from the weapon and launched forward. The Venus reacted too late, only managing to notice the maw just before it clamped around its human upper body.
The jaws clamped down hard on it, the Venus struggled. Squirming and clawing at the jaws, then Ruby heard the crunching. Then the jaws clamped shut, the Venus' human parts vanishing in a spray of blood and a cut scream.
As the jaws retracted, Yuu immediately transformed his weapon. There was a glow to him now, Ruby didn't know what it was, but she was mesmerized. "Sakuya!" he exclaimed.
The older woman turned to the voice, and Yuu fired off a glowing shot that was colored in the same glow that enveloped his body. Sakuya rushed to meet it head first, Ruby almost screamed. Then it melded with Sakuya, harmlessly entering her body as she was enveloped in the glow.
"Leave it to me!" She announced, pointing her weapon heavenward. The weapon charged up the shot, and released the glowing energy into the air. Ruby could only watch as the formless blast began to take shape, and formed into what she believed was a missile.
Soma jumped back just as the missile came, when it hit the area was engulfed in a sea of fire. The Aragami fell like flies, while some disintegrated immediately. Soma let out a breath, and turned to Sakuya. "Nice shot."
Sakuya nodded, and then turned to the group. "If any of you know where the nearest medical facility is, then start running." Sakuya approached the bleeding male with a worried expression. He must've gotten worse, because Sakuya's expression was grimm.
"Go now!" Sakuya exclaimed, no one even thought to stick around after what they'd just seen.
After the chaos that ensued in the forest, exhaustion seemed to have finally caught up to the God Eaters. Yuu Kannagi sat by a small round table surrounded by his comrades, his God Arc pointed down at the ground and leaning against his shoulder. He could only really focus on his breathing, that's how tired he was.
In the distance he could hear the voice of the man he'd met earlier, Professor Ozpin. He was speaking on what Yuu assumed was an intercom, not unlike the one the Den used to make big announcements. He didn't dwell on it, Yuu opened an eye to take in the area he and the others had been led to or perhaps a more accurate term was locked in.
It was something akin to a staff room, a few tables and personalized chairs were around the room. Some appliances like a kettle were on the counter in the corner. Lindow held Sakuya's head as she leaned against him, keeping a watchful eye as usual.
Alisa was in a similar position to Yuu, but she seemed to be asleep as was Kota.
Soma on the other hand was busy reading, his eyes transfixed on a tablet made of hard light. He'd been at it since they were put into this room. "What're you reading?" Yuu asked.
"World history." Soma replied, not removing his eyes from the screen.
"Didn't think you had an interest." Lindow commented.
"Normally I don't." Soma slid a finger on the screen to move the paragraph upwards. "However, I took it upon myself to get acquainted with our surroundings. I'm just glad Glynda was kind enough to lend me this, albeit with a little warning."
Yuu swiveled his neck for a moment, trying to rid himself of the tightness. "So...people don't know what Aragami are." deciding to get to that specific detail first. Soma nodded, as did Lindow. "This is going to sound like complete insanity, but did we die? Or hop dimensions or something?"
"We fight man-eating monsters everyday." Lindow began. "I don't think it's too far-fetched. I mean hasn't science always made these crackpot theories about alternate dimensions?"
"Regardless, we are in a world where the concept of an Aragami or God Eaters does not exist." Soma placed the tablet down for a moment. "I can say that with some certainty, that we are in some sort of parallel world. As for how we got here…" he trailed off.
"None of that." Yuu cut in. "No more brooding Soma, I understand wanting to make amends for the mistakes of those before you. However, you've atoned for more than enough." Yuu hoped Soma understood, Soma was invaluable. Dealing with the Devouring Apocalypse, the Hannibal Incident, and then the resurgence of the Nova. Soma was there for all of it, and had done more than enough.
"Right." Soma nodded. Yuu hoped he got the message, if not then he was more than willing to remind him at every turn. "Now that we know where we are, or at least to some degree. I want to bring up what we'll be telling them."
Right, Yuu hadn't forgotten his promise to Ozpin. He'd promised to explain to the man what he knew, but not everything was on the table. Fenrir had its secrets, and to be indoctrinated into the staff or as a God Eater, there was a long screening process and many contracts stating to keep certain things secret.
"I thought about it earlier." Yuu explained. "Why not just explain the important stuff? Aragami and God Eaters."
"They'll prod into our other affairs." Soma added. "If we tell them the bare minimum, then they might think we're hiding things and we might even be put under watch, maybe even separated if they wanted."
"I doubt they would." Yuu argued.
"I don't know, kid." Lindow cut in, his free hand stroking Sakuya's hair. "We don't know anything about these people, and if this Ozpin guy is shifty." Yuu could fill in the rest, he shouldn't assume the best in people, especially in this new environment. "I have a proposition, if you're willing to listen."
Yuu gave the floor to Lindow.
"We oversell the God Eaters." He said. "Make him want us, because if there are Aragami, then we're the only ones capable of handling them."
Soma thought on it for a moment. "Not a bad plan, and in exchange he gives us the essentials."
It wasn't a bad plan. Yuu turned to Soma, a thought occurring to him. "What if he asks us about the God Arcs?"
Soma shook his head. "You let me answer that when the time comes. This is sensitive information, I'll do it myself. If they get the idea to try and manufacture their own God Arcs or similar tech, then this place turns into the Far East."
Yuu nodded, that was for the best. He looked towards the door, noticing that the Professor's voice was no longer being broadcasted over the intercom. Shortly after, the door opened revealing Glydna Goodwitch.
"I apologize for keeping you all here, if you'd all follow me." She said, Soma and Lindow stood up stirring Sakuya and Kota awake. Yuu patted alisa on the shoulder, she flinched when she awoke.
"Morning." He said, then pointed to a spot by her lips.
Alisa blushed, and quickly passed her gloved backhand over her lips.
Glynda led them all at a brisk pace, Yuu took note of all the landmarks. A statue of people beating down what seemed to be one of the dark creatures he'd seen in the forest, then a large ornate building that resembled the castles in old books.
Then they stared down a massive building, Yuu craned his neck up. It just kept going, he'd never seen a building this tall before, and if he had it was partially devoured by the Aragami.
"Please follow me." said Glynda, allowing them to squeeze into an elevator before following in herself. The air was tense, Soma stood by his side and nudged him. "We'll get through it." he mouthed.
Yuu nodded, and not long after the doors to the elevator opened and they all flooded out. They stepped into an office, and marveled at the design. Gears were everywhere, in the ceiling, on the walls, and even in the glass floor.
"Woah." Kota commented.
"Yuu and Soma." the all too familiar voice called out to them. Professor Ozpin sat at his table, and at his sides were two men they did not recognize. "These are my associates, Peter Port and Bartholomew Oobleck. They are members of Beacon's faculty, who managed to come face to face with the creatures from initiation."
Yuu nodded, they wanted answers. Better to get it over with he supposed, then he noticed the four individuals standing at one side. If he remembered correctly, their names were: Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren.
The elevator dinged from behind them, and opened to reveal the group of girls from the initiation. Ruby and the others pilled into the room, remaining silent as they took their places beside Jaune and his group.
"Now that you're all here, we can begin." Ozpin said, turning to Glynda who stood at his side. She fiddled with the tablet in her hands, and presented the images of Soma dealing with the Ogretails from earlier. "What can you tell us?"
Yuu stepped forward, standing with his God Arc propped up beside him. "My name is Yuu Kannagi," he introduced. "This is my team, and we're collectively known as the First Unit or the Retaliation Squad as part of the Anti-Aragami Punitive Force; The God Eaters."
Yuu couldn't help but crack a smirk, that was the most formal he'd ever been. Maybe he should've asked for a promotion back at the Den.
"Nice to formally meet you." Ozpin remarked, the rest of the First Unit followed suit. Exchanging introductions, and standing beside Yuu. "I hope you don't mind, but I assumed it best to have the students who were with you be here for this."
"Not at all." said Yuu, then turned to the groups. "I'm glad you're all okay."
"All thanks to you guys!" said Ruby.
The one Yuu remembered as Nora blew a strand of hair out of her face. "I still think I could've taken the big one."
"You're overestimating yourself." Soma's voice cut in, Yuu supposed it was time to set them all straight. He allowed Soma to take the floor. "I'll say it outright, no one in this room who is not a part of the First Unit is capable of fighting against the Aragami." that seemed to have gotten a reaction out of them.
"I mean sure, those things were pretty intense." Yang spoke up. "But I'm pretty sure if someone played it smart they'd-" Yang stopped speaking, noticing that Ruby's hand was on her shoulder. The caped girl shook her head.
"Yang, they mean we literally can't." said Ruby, then turned to Alisa. "Right? We can't hurt them."
"Yes." Alisa answered. "The Aragami are nigh invulnerable, nevermind killing one, harming one with your weaponry is a pipe dream."
Some still seemed defiant, that Nora girl especially, as well as Yang and her partner. Yuu suspected that Ruby and Weiss were the only ones who actually tried to fight back at first. "Miss Goodwitch, how many people were a part of this initiation in the forest?"
Glynda tapped a few spots on her tablet. "Around 200."
"What're the statistics for the incident?" Yuu continued, Glynda tapped a few more spots and looked away.
"17 alive, 73 wounded, 23 are in critical condition, 62 are dead, and 25 are unaccounted for." The faces of the students paled as they heard the figures, Glynda looked at them. "The eight of you are the only ones who managed to pass the Initiation unscathed."
"J-Just us?" Jaune asked, his mouth hanging agape.
"Do you get it now?" Yuu asked. "And this is a good day."
"How is this a good day?!" Yang exclaimed. "People are dead!"
Soma nudged Yuu, a signal to keep going. "It's because the Aragami aren't native to this world, they're native to ours. Through some act of divine intervention, we and along with the Aragami we were currently hunting got transported here." Yuu looked over to the Headmaster. "Tell them how we met."
Ozpin glanced at his students. "Miss Goodwitch and I met Yuu and Soma after they appeared in a flash of light. After that, we were attacked by one of the Aragami."
"There you have it." Yuu finished. "You have your explanation."
"I have a question." Ruby said, raising her hand. "How come you can hurt the Aragami?"
Soma stepped forward this time. "It's because of our weapons, our God Arcs." Soma presented his God Arc for those to see, the God Arc known in the Norn as: The Evil One. "The God Arcs are our weapons to fight the Aragami, the only known weapons that can harm an Aragami."
"Then just make more." Jaune suggested. "If everyone here has a God Arc, then we can fight back."
"Good plan." Lindow praised. "In theory, but in practice not so much."
"The God Arcs are living weapons." Soma explained. "They're Aragami that we can control, the problem is that the success rate of being matched with a God Arc that won't devour you when you touch it is low." Soma shook his head. "Any solution you can think of, we've tried it. The Aragami have been running around for over 20 years, and they've taken multiple continents. Don't think you can do anything because you're determined, the Aragami won't care and you'll die."
"Then...what can we do?" Pyrrha asked.
"Nothing." Yuu answered. "Leave it to us, so long as we're here we won't let the Aragami near you."
"It sounds hopeless." Weiss countered.
"The word Aragami can be roughly translated to violent god in one language." Alisa began, looking at the white haired heiress. "Ruby, what do they call us?"
The caped girl flinched, stammering as she tried to remember. Then her eyes widened. "God Eaters."
Yuu nodded, and the silver eyed girl's lit up. Yuu turned to the Headmaster who sat at his desk, looking at the group before him. Yuu stepped forward. "Professor, I think we ought to have a discussion about our living arrangements."
A/n: I promise to write the next part for Remnants of Fate next, just give me some time. I wanted to get this one out cause I felt like I didn't leave it at a good spot last time. Anyway, please leave a review on what could be done better and comments. (I like reading those) Maybe tell a friend about it, cause it's pretty niche.
