Summary: What if Kate Todd and Leroy Jethro Gibbs met way before Kate joined the Secret Service and were together for a few months before a big fight broke out, pushing the two away from each other. 20 years later, the two meet again, will they be able to work things out between them? WASHINGTON, DC
Gibbs opened the front door of his house and the smell of food hit his nose.
"Mmm, something smells good." Jake whispered as Gibbs chuckled and closed the door after Jake entered. Jake put his bag near the couch before following Gibbs into the kitchen to see two young girls. One of them was a redhead who was wearing shorts and a hoodie. And the other was a black-haired girl who was wearing ripped jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. The two young girls were talking and laughing at something before they turned around and smiled.
"Hi, Daddy!"
"Hey, Dad!"
Layla and Kelly ran to Gibbs and threw their arms around his neck, hugging him tightly as he smiled and hugged his two favorite girls back.
"Hello, princesses. Whad'ya got cookin' in the kitchen?" Gibbs asked, forgetting they had a visitor. Layla and Kelly let go of Gibbs and grabbed his hands to lead him to the kitchen when they noticed Jake standing in the living room, looking at some pictures on the bookshelf.
"Who is that?" Kelly whispered to her father as Layla eyed the young man.
"Yeah. And what's he doin' in our house?"
Jake turned around and smiled at the young ladies.
"Girls...This is Jake. Jake, this is Kelly and Layla. My daughters." Gibbs said, introducing them to each other. Jake nodded while Kelly and Layla gave a small smile.
"What's he doin' here, Daddy?"
"Oh, well I'm um…" Jake said looking at Gibbs who smirked before turning to the girls.
"He's here to help me with something. He's a friend's son and he'll be staying here for a bit." Gibbs lied as the girls looked at each other before looking at Gibbs and shrugging.
"Alright."
"That's cool. Welcome to the Gibbs house, Jake." Layla said with a smile before walking towards the kitchen with Kelly. Jake let out a breath of relief as he turned to Gibbs.
"When are you going to tell them I'm your son? Their half-brother?" Jake whispered as Gibbs sighed.
"I don't know, Jake. I'm still getting over the news myself." Gibbs said making Jake chuckle and Gibbs smiled.
"You can take the guest room, it's right next to the bathroom. The girls' bedrooms are upstairs and so is mine."
"Oooh, three-bedroom house?"
"Four actually. But the girls share a room." Gibbs shrugged as Jake nodded.
"Alright. Well, I'm gonna go and change and probably rest for a while if that's alright with you."
"Fine with me." Gibbs said, walking up the stairs, towards his bedroom.
NAPLES, ITALY
Kate and Jaiden got out of the taxi after giving some cash to the driver and ran into the airport with their bags. They bought their tickets and boarded the plane to DC. Sitting down, Kate felt her heart racing up again. She took deep breaths to try and calm herself down but it wasn't helping her. Jaiden looked over to his mother and seeing her upset and nervous like this, he reached over and grabbed her hand making her look at him.
"It'll be okay, Momma. Everything's going to be okay." Jaiden whispers as Kate gives him a small smile. She leaned over and kissed his head before settling down as the plane started to take off.
WASHINGTON, DC
Gibbs came up from the basement after he hadn't heard a noise in his house. Curious, he opened the door and stepped out to look around. He heard the T.V. running in the living room as he walked. He peeked into the room to see Jake, Kelly, and Layla laying on the couch together, cuddled up, asleep while the T.V. was still playing. Gibbs smiled as he grabbed a big blanket and covered all three before turning the T.V. off. He then turned around and placed a kiss on Layla and Kelly's heads before heading out of the room and up the stairs to his bedroom.
After a relaxing, hot shower, Gibbs got into his bed and just stared at the ceiling, thinking about the events of the day.
He found out he has two sons. Two sons! And with the beautiful brunette he fell in love with before meeting Shannon two years later.
Gibbs sighed as he tried to close his eyes and go to sleep but, just thinking about the brunette kept his mind awake. He couldn't go to sleep knowing that in just less than 10 hours, he would be face to face with Kate, the gorgeous, feisty brunette he met 20 years ago.
