OF MOONSTONE FAIRYS AND LIGHTNING BIRD
It had been a few days since Sam and Rory left the Pokemon center and headed back to Saffron City to their respective homes. Sam decided to take the time to relax and do some shopping for a new jacket since his old one had been scratched when he had saved Max from the fallen debris, as well as purchase some books for his own library at his apartment, specifically some books on the various regions as well as their Pokemon.
Stopping at a nice coffee shop to read his new Sinnoh book "Let's see, the Sinnoh region... it's the second-largest region in the nation and is filled to the brim with Pokemon that are not found in Kanto. In fact, Rory's Infernape is from the Sinnoh region, it's one of the starter pokemon new trainers can receive." He took a sip of his coffee as he looked through the book, looking at the various Pokemon. "Let's see... wow, check that Pokemon Ava!" He said as he showed his Espeon, who looked up from her food, a picture of a large cat-like Pokemon with black and blue fur.
"It's a Pokemon called Luxray, An electric type that's native to Sinnoh!" He said, bringing the book back to his face. "Says here this Pokemon is capable of seeing through most objects with x-ray like vision." He looked back at Ava. "I think it'd be pretty cool to have a Pokemon like that don't you think?"
"Espe." Ava agreed.
Sam took a sip of his coffee, finishing it. "I wonder if we'll ever get the chance to visit Sinnoh..." Just then he felt his Holocaster start to vibrate. Sam looked around to make sure no one was looking and pressed a button. A holographic message appeared 'Agent Archard, you are to report to headquarters for your new assignment.'
"Whelp, duty calls." He stood up. "Let's get going Ava."
"Espe!" Ava replied, jumping up and landing on his shoulders. Both walked off to their next assignment.
The sun was setting in the sky as nighttime nearly reached the hour, creating colors of orange and blue along the horizon. The duo of Sam and Rory both stared at the entrance to a cave that was located at the base of Mount Moon, both clad in their Team Rocket outfits. Sam was currently looking at the mission plan on his Holocaster.
"Let's see...we need to capture Clefairy, Cleffa, and Clefable alongside a few Moon Stones, and according to the information they should be gathered near the center..."
At Team Rocket HQ, both Sam and Rory stood in an office like laboratory as a chief Rocket scientist sat at his desk speaking to both of the Rank A agents. Other scientists worked in the background. The scientist showed them holographic images on his miniature holograph panel.
"As you both are probably aware of, there is a mountain located to the north of the Kanto region called Mt Moon." He said as he showed them a holograph of the mountain. "This mountain is not like others, many stories surround this mountain, such as its frequent meteor falls. The shards of meteorites that fall here eventually became the reason for its namesake, Moon Stones."
The image changed showing images of the moonstones. "These moonstones are said to possess extraordinary abilities, which is said to increase the power of Pokémon, even allowing a certain few to evolve. Including Celfairy." Next to the Moon Stone, an image of Clefairy appeared alongside its evolutions. "Celfairy, a fairy type pokemon. It's a Pokemon that was said to have come from outer space, and it shares a strong connection to Moon Stones, which are also from outer space. Your mission is simple, catch a Clefairy, as well as its fellow evolutions. To be sure you succeed, I'll require one of each from both of you. Is that clear?"
"Yes sir!" They both saluted.
"Excellent!" The scientist said. "Now go and make Team Rocket proud!"
Sam looked down from his holopad and checked the Rocket Balls, three each. "Ok, according to the information, they should be gathered near the center of the base, where we should find a large number of Moonstones as well. Theirs also a large one as well, but we don't need to worry about that." He turned to Rory. "So, shall we begin?"
"Yes." he got out his Gengar "Gen Ge Gengar?" 'Am I here for bugs?' "We're here to catch some Clefairy's, Gengar. With me" he ordered. "Gar" 'Ok' she said melding into his shadow. He then turned to Sam "So what are you gonna do to catch the Clefairy's?"
"Well of course," Sam replied, looking at his holopad. "Were each supposed to catch one Cleffa, one Clefairy, and one Clefable. That's a total of six pokemon, three for each of us."
"That doesn't seem too difficult," Rory said.
Sam looked at the information. "Well according to the dossier, there have been reports of a professor doing work here alongside what is believed to be his assistant. They could potentially get in our way."
"Who's the researcher?" Rory asked.
Sam looked back at the holograph and scrolled down. "Let's see it says that it's...!" He gasped. "Professor Oak!"
"Ash's professor"
"Yeah, which means... he might be here"
"We'll just have to avoid them as much as possible. Gengar cloak us in shadow!"
Rory's own shadow began to glow outlining in purple, It grew and grew to twice its size and then began coming off the floor. "Whoa! What is happening?!" said Sam who was then shushed by Roy. The shadow then wrapped itself around Roy making him as dark as the void where Gengar had come from. Sam looked him up and down "I didn't know they could do that? How...?" asked Sam "Apparently the pokemon and its master need to have a high amount of trust and to learn the move Destiny bond," Roy said although sounding muffled.
Both Sam and Ava just stared at the moving shadow with baffled expressions, sweat-dropping. "Well...good to know you and your Pokemon have strong trust with each other..."
"Peon.../Yeah..." Ava said, also slightly disturbed.
"Ok, well I suggest we split up to cover more ground," Sam suggested. He looked at the pad and scrolled to the right, switching to a layout and map of the mountain. "OK, there are a few paths that lead directly to the center where the big moonstone is located. Oak may be there doing research, I suggest we stay away from there and focus on the outer caves that are close to the entrance. Those will have the Cleffa, Clafairy, and the Clefable, as well as some Moon Stones."
"Ok. I'll go left you go right," he said then entered the cave melting into the darkness
"..., That is still so creepy," said Sam
"Es/yeah"
Rory had never actually tried this before; the Team Rocket scientists had just theorized it. When he felt Gengar essentially wrap herself around him it felt cold at first, incredibly cold and he did everything in his power to stop himself from shivering. After a second it began getting warmer and warmer and now it felt like he was covered in a blanket the numbed his sense. He couldn't feel anything really, the wind, when he touched his body he couldn't feel it either. His eyesight didn't change though (Great), he could hear fine, the other thing that felt weird was his breathing. Just like breathing through a cloth, it felt musty and warm not at all what he was expecting. As he moved down the caverns he started hearing the fairy pokemon tale-tale noises and the movement of their feet. He made himself flush against the wall and proceeded with silence he made his way to the mouth at the end of the hallway and saw a group dancing across a bunch of Moonstones. 'Only one of each, let's see if we can pick them off one by one he thought'; then a strange feeling came across his stomach like a thing was moving across it. Looking down he saw what it was; his Gengars face appeared on his stomach cigar and all. (How did it still have the cigar?) The face opened its eyes and spoke! "Gengar Gar" 'That's them right?"
After Rory had left, Sam pulled the Hoodie over his head and pressed a button on his headgear, his visor sliding from both sides of his head covering his eyes and walked down the right path. "Ok then, we're in a cave so I need a Pokemon that can find their way around here...I know just the one!" He brought out a Pokeball and brought out his Gligar, Fang. "Gligar!" It said as it landed on the ground.
"Hey Fang, I need you to use your echolocation to help us find our way through the tunnel and locate Pokemon for us. Can you do that?" Sam asked.
"Gligar!" Fang nodded. He turned and sent out a sound wave that sounded similar to a screech. After a few seconds, it pointed down the tunnel "Gligar! Gli gar Gli!"
"You found something?" Sam asked. Gligar nodded. "Alright lead the way!" Gligar jumped and glided down the tunnel with Ava and Sam following behind. They soon came to a clearing with a big rock, which they hid behind. Sam and his Pokemon peaked from behind and saw a group of Cleffairy skipping around a few Moon Stones.
"Alright, there are the Clefairy," Sam whispered. "And a few Moon Stones too..." Then he had an idea. "OK I got a plan, listen carefully...
As the fairy Pokemons continued their dance one of them noticed a shadow of a Clefairy dancing and waving at him from the tunnels. It waved back "Clefairy Cle" 'Come Join Us' but the shadowy mirror shook its head and made a come-on motion dancing away down the tunnel. The Clefairy, not one to miss out on a dance simply followed it merrily. As it turned the corner the expecting the other to be there, there was nothing. He kept walking down thinking maybe she just missed it "Cleflairy" 'Helloo?' she said going down the tunnel, not noticing Gengars face appearing on the sidewall; "Hypnosis," said Roy.
That same Clafairy came back to its group acting like nothing and got back to dancing. She then began picking up some of the moonstones and then signalling for his big sister and little brother to do the same 'Claf Cla Clafairy Clafairy" 'Get some and come with me' she told them. They did and followed their family member. "Clafable Clefa" 'Where are we going?" asked the older one. The middle child answered without looking back "Clafairy Clafairy Claf" 'There a party going on over here' her eyes glowed a sheen of purple as they turned the corner.
The two Clefairy continued to dance around the Moonstones, roughly six of them gathered in a small pile. As they continued to dance, they were suddenly stopped as they found themselves being levitated over the ground and covered in a light blue outline. Both looked at each other in confusion.
"Fang, use Guillotine!"
Out of nowhere, a Shiny Gligar few from the darkness in front of them and with a Glowing light blue claw and slashed Clefairy hard, sending it flying into the wall creating dust. The other Clefairy watched in shock, when the dust cleared the Clefairy had swirls in its eyes. Out of nowhere, a Pokeball with an R on it flew by and hit the Clefairy, catching it automatically. The ball was then outlined in a blue glow and hovered to a trainer in the shadows, him stepping out with an Espeon by his side. "Nice work, Fang. " He said to the Gligar as he flew over to the trainer's shoulder. The trainer, whose face was covered with a visor and hood, spoke to the Clefairy.
"Sorry about that, didn't mean to scare you." He then nodded at his Espeon, who released the Clefairy. The Clefairy backed up and looked at the Moon Stones. "If you want to evolve, go right ahead I won't stop you. " The boy said. "In fact, If you evolve, I'll give you the chance to get your friend back, if not, well..."
He motioned to the Espeon, who charged and started to attack the Clefairy with a quick attack. The Clefairy staggered back feeling the pain and grunted. It jumped back as the Espeon attacked with a Shadow Ball.
Clefairy frowned, It didn't want to evolve like this, but it would lose if it didn't. It reached for a Moonstone and concentrated. The Rock began to glow, and Clefairy doing the same. It grew as it evolved, becoming a Clefable. "Clefaaaable!" It shouted.
The Trainer smirked. "Nice evolution, a shame I won't get to see much of it."
The Clefable raised its eyebrow but noticed too late that the Gligar was gone. It turned and saw a Light Blue claw aiming toward it, and everything went black.
Sam looked at the two Rocket Balls with his recent additions. He put them away. "Ok, let's grab these Moon Stones. We'll need about 5 more and a Cleffa and were out of here."
Meanwhile, deep in the caves at the center, surrounding a Giant Moonstone, Professor Oak and his assistant Tracey had set up a miniature lab as they did Research on the Moonstone, and the Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable surrounding it. Just then Oak heard a noise and felt a distant rumble. He looked up from his notes. "Is something wrong professor?" Tracey asked.
Roy examined the moonstones, their constant twinkling reflected off his black body. The swirls of muted yellow and purple running through the bluestone like veins. 'These don't look "Crescent like" more shard-like than anything. Should tell them to change their description once we get back' his musing was interrupted by his Pokemon "Gengar Gengar Gar" 'I can't keep this form' he wasn't prepared as his Gengar unwrapped itself from him and the cold draft of the mountains reached his skin. This time he couldn't stop his body and shivered, wrapping his arms around himself "Give me a warning next time" he glared at her. "Gar Gar" 'I did' she retorted tired. Once Roy rubbed some heat back into his bones he got up and thought of things to do now that they had completed their initial mission 'We should scout for that giant Moonstone the talk about. Giving our excavating team some information in advance for us to steal it... yeah good idea' he thought pulling out his Holo-communicator. "Stay Gengar we're still continuing the mission" he activated the communicator "Sam, response."
"Yes, I'll have a cheeseburger with a side of fry's please, hold the ketchup." Was the response, followed by an 'Espe!' and 'Gligar!' "Oh, and some treats for the Pokemon too please."
Rory's eye twitched at the joke. "Sam...!"
"Sorry! Sorry!" Sam laughed as he threw Rocket Ball at the unconscious Cleffa. "Couldn't help it. Anyway, what do you need?" He reached down and grabbed the Rocket Ball. "If it's about the Pokemon, I just caught the Cleffa. I just need a few more Moon Stones and I'll be finished."
"That's good, cause I'll know where exactly to get some Moon Stones," Rory replied.
"Great where at?" Sam asked.
"The giant Moon Stone at the center." Rory replied.
"...What?"
"Is something wrong professor?" Tracey asked. Oak looked around. "I thought I heard something..." He shook his head. "Nevermind, let's get back to work, this research isn't going to finish itself."
Roy walked through the caverns, evading fairy dancing groups while heading deeper. Since the Moons stones released a certain unique set of energy their trackers could catch. Considering there was only one giant moonstone it overtook the smaller shards signals and they could follow it without problems. Arriving at a certain stretch they could visually see the bright glow of their prize "Looks like we don't need this anymore" Roy said putting back his tracer. As he walked up to the entrance he saw the giant twinkling Moonstone right beneath a full moon, but before he could get close he heard a voice and it wasn't his partner. "... This stone really is a mystery" went the voice. Roy flushed back against the walls and peaked his head around. He saw 2 men looking over some machines 'Unwanted company. Where is Sam?' the agent got out his communicator "Sam, where are you currently?"
"I'm at the cavern with the giant Moonstone," Sam replied. He was behind a rock blending into the shadows, he had recalled Fang and he and Ava were overlooking the giant stone. "I am currently staring at the giant rock in question." He glanced at the side "I can see that we have guests."
The guests were Professor Oak and his assistant Tracey, both examing the giant stone. Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable were around the stone dancing or playing. Sam didn't really care.
"Ok, why are we here? We just need to gather Moon Stones, I don't think we can carry that one." He glanced at the smaller stones surrounding it. "Unless we're here to grab the smaller ones?"
"For the most part yes, I'd figure we scout the caverns to the giant Moonstone before we leave to make it easier for the actual extraction team to get it," However there was no information of professors being here and they didn't know how long they would be here. "That's all it was, but there are civilians here. Team Rocket is going to try and get the actual big Moonstone in a few days if the studies find their aura and power is actually useful, but we don't know how long these scientists will be here."
Sam hears his partners concerns, but has his own "Well what are we gonna do? We can't just fight them, if they escape they'll get the local police in this and then we'd have to wait even longer to get the big one. If we were to capture them and detain them for a time, it's professor Oak. Well known and well connected, people would start asking questions and look for their last sightings which will lead them here."
Rory went silent for a while and then "...Let's do this then..."
Oak and Tracey were in front of the stone analyzing it with their machines. "I say, the fact that the Moonstone is this big is astounding! Just imagine the effect it has on all the Pokemon here." Oak said as he looked at the research.
"I agree," Tracey replied. "The fact that it causes them to evolve is proof of the connection."
"Quite right!" Oak said. Just then both of them heard a loud voice echoing from the tunnel behind them.
"Face it, man, we're lost." Both turned around and saw shadows on the cave wall appearing closer. "Were not lost, I know exactly where we are." A gruff voice replied. "Were inside Mt. Moon."
"Were lost inside Mt. Moon!" The first voice sighed. "Leave it to the old man to get us lost." The shadows grew closer as silhouettes of people appeared The owner of the second voice was caught off guard and spluttered. "Old?! I'm just a year ahead of you, we're essentially the same age!"
"Well your 'stache seems to say otherwise."~ Both Oak and Sam looked in confusion as two trainers that looked around 16-17 years old walked in with their Pokemon. One had long red hair that reached his neck, amber eyes, and wore a black and grey cap with a red Poke-Ball logo on his head. His clothing consisted of a grey and white t-Shirt with a white and red poke-ball insignia on it that is covered by a black leather jacket. and black finger-less gloves. He also wore faded black jeans with a gray belt with a dark gray belt buckle that held his Poke-ball. He had a red backpack. On his shoulder, was an Espeon with black color rhinestones.
The second trainer had black hair in a flattop with a fade with eyes with brown eyes. He had a dark blue blazer with purple stripes running diagonal and a black undershoot. He wore matching black pants with a dark brown belt and golden buckle and black combat boots. He had a brown messenger bag on his chest to the right and a pouch on his left that had his Pokemon.
Both were in an argument until Oak broke them up. "Excuse me...hello...BOYS!"
Both boys turned and saw Professor Oak standing in front of him. "Uh...who are you?" The redhead asked.
"We should be asking that," Tracey said as he walked up. "We weren't expecting anyone else to arrive. Are you two lost?"
The red hair trainer sighed. "Apparently so, because someone doesn't have a map." He gestured to the trainer beside him who rolled his eyes. "You were supposed to buy one." He responded. Before there was a fight, Oak put a hand on his shoulder.
"Now now, let's not fight." He said with a smile. "Perhaps introductions are in order. My name is Samuel Oak, and this is my assistant Tracey."
"Please to meet you," Tracey said.
The redhead smiled and shook their hands. "You name Samuel? Mine is too, but you can call me Sam." He petted his Espeon. "This is Ava, and my friend over here...".
"Ethan. The names Ethan." He replied also shaking hands.
Oak then got a curious expression. "Those names sound familiar. Tell me, Did you two ever come across a young trainer going by Ash Ketchum by any chance?"
"NO! Eh we mean, nope." they both went "Ketchum? that seems like a weird name, who even names their kid after a condiment," said Sam.
Roy rolled his eyes, small, but noticeable "Yeah, who would name their kids that."
Oak thought for a bit but ultimately decided it was nothing "Yeah his dad had a weird name, but he's a fine kid. Gets in a lot of adventures tho that boy. Hard to keep track of the people he's met. I really wanted to meet that man he fought. He apparently had an extremely well endowed Heracross, would have really liked to study that one hahaha." While he laughed it off the others sweatdropped at the professor's words and how they came across. While he was laughing Oak, in the back of his mind, still had some doubts over these strangers and their intentions.
Sam meanwhile, had other thoughts. 'Wait, so Ash mentions Rory's Heracross, yet he doesn't mention Ava or any of my Pokemon?! Why that little twerp I oughta...keep it together, you're sounding like Jessie, James, and Meowth.
"So, what are you doing here? Not every day you see a Professor in a cave." Sam asked.
"Oh, I'm simply studying the MoonStone," Oak replied.
"Moon Stone?" Both boys looked behind him at the giant rock in question. "That hunk of Rock?" Sam asked.
"What are you studying that for?" asked Roy
The 2 scientists escorted them to their workbench. "See, we're studying this meteor and its connection to the Clefairys," said Tracy showing them their on-screen data.
Roy caught to that little word and looked at Oak "Meteor? You're saying this giant twinkling rock is a meteorite and from space?"
Oak smiled "Yes, at least that is our theory based on our data. That also may reveal more of the Clafairys past. Considering the incredible connection they have to the meteorite. We hope this could tell us more about them and pokemon physiology."
This got Roy really intrigued (Not really) "Oh, really professor? Tell me more, now that I'm here might as well learn more about them."
Oak put his hand on his shoulder happy to have someone else who's interested in their research "Well, with whats we have gleaned..." he dragged him off to the front of the supposed steroid.
Meanwhile, Sam saw what Rory was doing and knew what he needed to do. _'Gotta distract Tracey somehow...and he had the plan for it. "So Tracey...who is this Ash the professor mentioned anyway?" Sam asked. "He sounds like one heck of trainer."
Tracey looked up from his notes. "Ash? Oh, he's a trainer from Pallet Town, he's gone on lots of adventures!" As Sam distracted Tracey, Sam reached into his back pocket and pulled out a flash drive. He gently nudged Ava with his head and gestured behind him. She looked down at the drive and understood.
She jumped off, taking hold of the drive with her tail and walked towards the computer. Acting quickly, she found the slot for a drive and inserted it with her tail, and pressed the button on it Instantly, the flash did its work, and all the files on the computer were copied and downloaded. Within a few seconds, the download was finished and Ava took it out with her tail, quickly running back up to her trainer, and back onto his shoulder. She placed the drive in his pocket.
'Good work, girl' He thought as he pet her head. She purred with affection. "Wow, Your Espeon looks amazing. It's been well trained," Tracey said as he looked at her gem. Then reached up and patted her on the head. Ava, safe to say, loved the attention.
Soon Roy and Oak came back to the group "And that's the difference between pokemon stones and regular stones." While Roy was trained to be patient and respectful of his elders, he was not a science guy though and since it was already late he almost fell asleep at the end of this speech/lecture. "Yes, that was certainly... enlightening Professor. Glad I now know that." he said getting next to Sam "Well it's always good to inform the next generation. Y'know knowledge is the most valuable resource young man." Sam responded this time "Sure is sir. But thank you guys for all this. Now it's getting late though and we've had our fill of adventure and I think it's time we go. Wouldn't you agree Ethan?" Roy stretched his back and yawned "Yeah, we should be going." "Oh! Well then since you guys got lost here you should take the way we got here" he pointed to a certain cavern with a white light on it "We've put lights along that way. Just follow that and you should be able to find your way out."
"Thanks," Sam said as they went down the path. "See ya later." He said as he waved goodbye.
"You two take care of yourself!" Tracey said as they departed. After they vanished, Tracey turned to Oak. "Well, those two seemed nice."
"Indeed," Oak replied. However, he had different thoughts 'I don't know why...but those two gave me a bad feeling. Let's get back to work, Tracey."
Meanwhile, after taking the exit, both boys had made it outside and had contacted HQ and the scientist. "So, the mission was a success then?" He asked.
"Affirmative," Sam replied. He and Rory showed them their Poke-balls and Moonstones. "Cleffa, Clefairy, and Cleffable. All ready to send to HQ with Moonstones."
"Marvelous!" The scientist replied.
"We've also obtained valuable information from Professor Oak as well," Rory said.
"Sam" Roy motioned to him
"Right" he pulled out the flash drive "This drive has all the information that the scientists have collected over their days inspecting the big stone as well as their info on the Fairy pokemon. This will more than help our R&D department."
Now the scientist was ecstatic "Great job giving us a great start. We will be more than ahead of those scientists. It seems when they told us that you were the elite among the elite, they weren't kidding."
"There is never any doubt. Now we expect you guys to repay us with this research," said Roy
"Oh, we will. You 2 will be the first to know of our breakthroughs after the boss of course hehe."
Roy smiled "Ok good to know. We will send the data over to the local lab. The file would be too big to send over comms."
"Understood"
"Team Rocket!" "TeamRocket!"
Once it was done Roy called for their ride.
Sam sat in silence as their drivers drove them to their respective homes. Professor Oak was close to figuring out our lie...makes me wonder how long we can keep up appearances until Ash and his friends figure out who we really are...we have to be more careful from here on out.
Ava noticed her trainers worry, so she stood up from his lap and rubbed her head against him with affection. He smiled and petted her. "Something on your mind?" Rory asked.
"Nope. Nothing at all." Sam said as he look outside at the night sky.
For the next few days, Sam and Rory each did their own thing. Sam would either train his Pokemon at the arena, shopping for supplies, or pay his bills...which he hated. But for the most part, he would just relax and walk around town or fiddle with the tech given to him by Team Rocket.
Rory on the other hand focused on training himself and his Pokemon. Like Sam, he too was concerned about Oak nearly discovering who they were.
Xanther was fighting fellow Team Rocket agents in a 6v12 match. Commanding his Pokémon like the leader he was born to be. The match or matches were going his way easily so he had stopped giving orders and instead researched on his pad. 'Can't let this Professor Oak catch on. I think after this next mission we should be transferred I'll see what my connections could do.' he saw a message from his mother, but ignored it and continued his research. Then a pokemon was sent flying above him hitting the wall and sliding down passing out. He looked behind him and saw his pokemon standing over a group of other knocked out Pokemon; Gengar their ring leader. "Well, looks like we need to find better partners," he said with the Pokemons agreeing with him.
Sam was at the Pokemon Center healing his Pokemon when he received a notification from his Team Rocket Holocaster. After grabbing his Poke-balls from the nurse and thanking her, he went into a nearby alley and pressed the button. It was a holographic message. Agent Archard, you and your partner are to report to headquarters for your new assignment from Giovanni. These are orders directly from Giovanni, himself.
"Giovanni?" Sam wondered. "He doesn't give out missions directly, just his admins or executives. Granted a few missions we reported to him but..." 'Those circumstances are different giving our relationship.' He thought. "This must be a big one."
He walked out of the alley and went over to his ride that he uses to travel when not on a mission, a black sports motorcycle he had gotten years ago, with modifications by Team Rocket tech. He reached over and put on his helmet.
"Well then, let's see what my old man has in store for us!" He revved the motorcycle and dashed down the street.
Roy was sitting cross-legged in his grey and blue business suit, his eyes closes, and head inclined forward. Sitting right across him with his Persian laying behind his grand chair was the leader of Team Rocket; Giovanni. The grand leader regarded the young stoic agent "You could have just arrived in your agent or trainer uniform, young Xanther" Roy responded "That is not how our family meet the leader of team rocket, sir" without missing a beat Giovannis closed smile opened "The Xanther family, always the business type, although always loyal to us. Which is hard to find especially in such a line like yours." Roy opened his eyes for the first time and regarded his leader "No need for words of praise. sir. The family is more than content serving Team Rocket" making Giovanni chuckle "What a Xanther way of answering"
They waited in comfortable silence for a minute, before the door opening and Sam walking in.
Sam walked in, wearing his Team Rocket uniform. Black gloves and combat boots with a dark grey long-sleeved undershirt with matching pants that are protected by a solid black military-like vest with matching legwear that contains the rocket symbol on the left side on a badge. His hoodie was down and he didn't have it on his visor. Ava walked next to him,
"Greetings sir, Rory." He said to Giovanni and his partner as he took his seat, Ava sitting beside him. "I apologize if I was making you wait."
"I just got here myself, you're not late," Rory replied.
"Sit," Giovanni said motioning to the chair beside Roy.
Once both boys were sitting comfortably, Giovanni began "I'm sure you're both wondering why I have called you to my office... Something I seldom do. You have proved to be the very best Team rocket has to offer. Proving the lineage of Team rocket and how this organization can elevate those which society has deemed.. undesirable. Now we seek one mission worthy of your talents and which is gonna be your parting gift before you leave for the Sinnoh league."
This was news to Sam
"Sinnoh? We're being transferred to Sinnoh?" Sam asked in surprise.
"Correct." The lights went dim, and pictures of the Sinnoh Region, as well as Pokemon native to it. "As you know, Team Rockets goal is to change the world, as well as capturing powerful Pokemon to assist us in this Endeavor. However, in order to do that we need to expand our operations to various regions. As of now, we have no branch in Sinnoh, which is where you two come in. Your assignment is simple, establish a Team Rocket outpost, and catch power Pokemon native to the region."
Sam pondered this. "That doesn't seem too difficult, in fact, it sounds like an honor," He said.
"It is, however," Giovanni said suddenly. "Before I give you clearance, you need to prove yourselves that you have what it takes. Which brings me to your mission." The images showed pictures of a certain Pokemon. "I trust you both know what this Pokemon is?"
Sam and Rory gasped in surprise, the images, albeit fuzzy, showed a giant yellow Pokemon flying through thunderclouds. "That's...a Zapdos!" Sam exclaimed. "A legendary Pokemon..." Roy said.
"Indeed," Giovanni said. "According to our resources, this Zapdos, in particular, was seen flying from the Sinnoh Region and was seen entering Kanto. Its last known location was at this abandoned power plant, which attracts electric type Pokemon." The images faded and the light turned back on. "Your assignment is clear, you two are to capture the Zapdos."
Sam was in shock. 'Capture a Zapdos? I've never been on an assignment like this before, he trusts us that much? What an honor! Ava could feel Sams excitement.
Rory put a thumb to his chin. Capture a Legendary Pokemon...now this should be a challenge. "A Zapdos huh? In that case, we'll have to prepare ourselves." He turned to Rory. "We should speak to the science division for some gadgets-."
"That won't be necessary," Giovanni said catching the two by surprise. Matori then walked in from a side door. She was pushing a tray, on it was a Rocket Ball, but with a slightly different design with two red circles on either side. "Sir, the Pokeball."
Giovanni picked up the ball from the tray "This, gentleman are the fruits of your labor." inspecting it in his hand.
"The master ball," said Roy
"The Rocket master ball. That information you took from the company led us to finish this beauty faster than that company. And now" he put it back on the tray with the lady walking away. "It is for your usage. capturing this Zapdos is something that will put you in the history books. Unfortunately not in any official history books, but what do we care about them. Ready to write history, gentleman?" eyebrow raised?
"Yes sir!"
"Good, your mission begins tomorrow, I suggest you prepare yourselves. You are dismissed."
After receiving their mission, both boys left and prepared themselves and their Pokemon. And at the next morning, both had set out on their assignment.
They were both given a ride to Lavender Town, the town closest to the power plant. They leave the boys as to not bring attention, leaving them to walk the rest of the way in their trainer outfits. Not a problem as the route wasn't long and they soon see the power plant in the distance.
"There's the power plant," Sam said. He noticed that the clouds near the plant were dark and gray, and thunder could be heard. . "Look at those clouds...it looks like a storm is about to brew. Is Zapdos really inside...?"
"So the legends say." Said Rory moving ahead.
Sam went to catch up "Hey, do you really think we can catch it?"
Roy raised an eyebrow "You don't usually show such degradation, Samuel."
"Yeah, I know, but it's a legendary Pokemon, Zapdos! Nobody has been able to actually see it except in blurry images and footage... and not to... we don't even know if the Master ball works, we're the test drive"
Rory kept walking " Rocket master ball. And when has Team rocket let you down before, Agent."
Sam cringed as he followed. "Team Rocket has never let me down! Not since I first joined when I was a kid."
"You were an agent at that age?" Rory asked.
Sam shrugged. "Well...not exactly. I didn't become an official agent until I was ten years old, before that I was just the common grunt that would help the other agents, then my old man was so impressed with my work he recommended me for field Agent." He chuckled, putting his hands behind his head. "He had a lot of expectations for me, still does." His eyes became determined. "So I can't let him down, not on this mission this important." He reached over and petted Ava. "Isn't that right Ava?"
"Pee!" (Right!) She replied.
Rory said nothing but was deep in thought. 'His father...when I read his report his adopted father's name was in black ink...my parents just explained that it was classified information...I wonder...'
Sam noticed his silence. "Something on your mind?"
"No. Let's keep moving." He said as he continued forward. Sam just shrugged and followed, Ava silent on his shoulders. Meanwhile, just a few ways away there was a fork in the path that lead to the Rock Tunnel, and out of the tunnel emerged Ash and his friends. "Ah, finally, we're out of that tunnel!" He said as he stretched his arms.
His friends followed suit. "I thought we never get out of there!" Brock said. He turned around. "See May? Did I tell you...uh May? Max?"
May in question was shivering slightly with Max holding onto her. "So many Zubats...so many Zubats!" May whimpered. "I never want to go through those tunnels again!" Max agreed.
Brock, Ash, and Pikachu sweat-dropped. "Maybe we should have taken another path," Brock said. "But this was the fastest way to the Power Plant!" Ash said. May sighed. "Remind me again why we're going to that power plant? It's been abandoned for years hasn't it?"
Ash turned towards her with a smile filled with excitement. "Because there's a Zapdos their and I wanna see it!"
After defeating Brandon the Pyramid King and obtaining his final Frontier Symbol, they were informed by Brandon's assistant that a Zapdos had been spotted in Kanto, and Brandon theorized it would be at the Power Plant due to the electric type Pokemon it attracts. Brandon couldn't go because he had other priorities but suggested Ash and friends check it out.
"But we don't even know if the Zapdos is even there!" Max said. "Brandon just assumed!"
"Yeah, but you know how smart he is, always exploring those ruins! I'm sure he's right! Now come on, let's go!" Ash charged, leaving his friends behind. "Ash wait!" Brock called.
"Don't leave us!" May and Max screamed as they followed. Meanwhile, from high above in their balloon, Team Rocket peered down with binoculars. "Leave it to the twerps to go chasing after a Zapdos," Jessie said. "Of course the only one's catching that Zapdos will be us!"
"But Jessie it's only just a rumor, remember?" James asked.
"Yeah, how do we know if this 'dings even here?" Meowth asked.
The 2 arrived at the chain link fence entrance to the plant. "Time to get our plan into position" Roy told Sam taking out his 2 flying pokemon Gengar and Scyther and climbed over the fence. Gengar fazing through the fence and the Scyther flying over.
"Well there's no harm in trying, and if it isn't there we'll just grab all the Pokemon instead! And with the twerps Pikachu as the cherry on top, It's a win, win!"
"So let's dig in!" James agreed.
"We'll become Rocket King Pins!" Meowth said.
"Woooobbuffet!"
Ash charged down the path at a quick speed. "Oh man, I can't wait to see that Zapdos, how about Pikachu?"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu agreed. Ash continued to charge and saw the Power Plant. "There it is, and look at that storm cloud...huh?" He suddenly stopped. Up ahead he saw two familiar figures at the plants' entrance. "Is that...Sam and Ethan? What are they doing here?" Ash's friends eventually caught up. "Ash, you really need to slow down!" Max said as he panted.
"Hey, isn't that Sam and Ethan over there?" May asked. Brock and Max looked over and saw Rory and Sam were both climbing over the fence, and Sam had just released a Misdreavious as he hopped over the fence.
"What are they doing here?" Brock asked. "Maybe they're here to see the Zapdos too?" Max suggested.
"Let's go find out!" Ash said as he and his friends followed him down the path.
Meanwhile, Both Sam and Ethan had entered the building. Both of them quickly switching into their Rocket uniforms, for extra protection against the Zapdos. Ethan had pulled on his hood and put on his Visor. He tried to search for any Pokemon, but his visor was on the fritz, glitching in and out. Missy had gone out to follow Ganger and Scyther
"Dang it..!" He muttered as he pressed a button that made it retract. "I can't get any readings...theirs too much electrical interference!"
"Well then let's see if we can counteract it" he pulled out his Electabuzz.
"Electaabuzz" 'Reporting, sir!'
"It's a special treat for you today. Drain, drain it as much to your heart's content"
The electric cat pokemon had already felt the buzz of electricity when it came out of the Pokeball. In fact, it was so much of it his body had already started draining it before his master had said anything. The pokemon's eyes squinted even harder 'No plant I've been to had been brimming with so much power. There's another extremely powerful electric pokemon…. like me' were the thoughts running through Roys Pokémon. "Elect Electab" 'Alright I'm on it' it said running to the core of the plan ready to make itself as powerful as possible to face that certain powerful pokemon that he knew his master was preparing for him to fight.
After a few minutes, Sam's visor started beeping "OH! It's working now, not perfectly, but it's good enough for me to get a slightly blurry image" he said starting to scan the area.
"Where is it at?" Rory asked. Sam looked at his visor for the Pokemons infrared readings. He had indeed seen it, and it was MASSIVE. "It's deep in the complex, I think at the very center...and boy it's huge! The readings are off the charts! It's gotta be the Zapdos!"
"Then let's move!" Rory said as he and Sam went deep into the complex. Just a few feet behind, Ash and his friends peeked from behind the door. "Huh...was that them?" May asked.
"I don't know I can't see, it's too dark!" Ash complained.
"Let's go and stick together!" Brock said. They moved deeper into the building.
After a few minutes of wandering around, Sam and Rory walked into a huge clearing, it seemed that this was where they made their products as many old machines laid around. There was a hole in the ceiling. "That's odd...the readings say that the Zapdos is here..." He checked his visor. "Ah, dam it's acting up again!" He said as he banged it on the side. "I know the Zapdos is in here, but now we won't be able to find it.
Just then Ash and his friends had turned a corner and saw two people walking around with an Electabuz. "Hey, is that them?" Ash asked.
"I don't know, it is too dark to tell!" May said.
Meanwhile, Rory decided if they couldn't find the Zapdos, they would bring it to them. "Electabuzz let's bring out the enemy to us, use Thunder!"
Elecatbuz complied charging and sending out electricity that illuminated the building. Ash and friends covered their eyes, but then Max saw the badges on their chest and gasped. "Guys look!" He said pointing to the emblem. "That symbol its...!"
"Team Rocket?!" They all asked in surprise.
"But that doesn't look like Jessie or James!" Brock said.
"But then...who are they?" May asked.
Just then, there was a large shriek that could have pierced the heavens. "ZAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Then a bolt of lightning came down from the clouds and hit Electabuz, stopping his Thunder. Before the boys could comprehend, there was another bolt that struck the floor, and standing on a machine Podium, wrapped in the lighting, was a very angry and large Zapdos.
"ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"
The legendary bird regarded them, daring them to move. All of them, including the pokemon, were in awe of the regal lightning king. Their hair standing on ends due to not just the goosebumps and the electric buzz coming off of its majesty.
Roy acted quickly ¨Trick room!¨ Even with his quick action, the Zapdos was too quick for the Gengar and was already gone before the ability could take place. Roy gritted his teeth ¨Come on, Agent. We got it in our grasp!¨ he said running out of the building.

As the 2 team rocket agents left, the adventurous trainers left their cover. ¨They´re trying to capture the Zapdos!¨said Brock. Ash got serious Ït doesn´t matter if they´re Ethan and Sam. They´re Team Rocket and no good can come of that. Come on we gotta stop them!¨ he said hyping them up ¨Right!¨they followed the 2 TR Agents.
Sam and Rory followed the Zapdos as they fled outside. "It's heading outside!" Rory said. "Well then so are we! Ava, Missy, use Shadow Ball!"
Both pokemon complied and fired two Shadow Balls that made a solid hole in the wall that both Agents burst through. They looked up and saw the Zapdos. "There it is!" Sam shouted, the Zapdos trying to escape, a storm brewed in the sky. He threw out a Poke-ball. "Go Rhyo!" Sam yelled. A Rhydon burst from the Poke-ball. "Rhyhorn!"
"Rhyo, use Smack down on that Zapdos!"
Rhyo looked up and saw the bird flying. "Rhyyyhorn!" He said as he charged a metallic gold orb of energy that is surrounded in orange energy appeared in its hands in front of it. Rhyo then threw the orb at the Zapdos.
"Zaaaugh!"
It hit its mark, exploded, and Zapdos was sent falling to the ground with a slam by the super effective move.
"Now Missy, mean look!" Missy's iris glows purple and it releases a black ring from its eye at the opponent. When the ring hits the opponent, the opponent becomes surrounded by a purple aura at the Zapdos. The Zapdos tried to fly away, but was covered in a dark ghost glow, stopped by a ghost force preventing its escape! "Zaaagh!"
"Use trick room, now!" Sam said.
"You heard the man! Trick Room!"
A crystal clear room covered the bird and that let Missy release its mean look. "Hold the room as hard as you can Gengar. You're holding onto a king, let us put the sword through him," ordered Rory.
"Gengar Geng!" 'Easy for you to say!' she said sweat dripping down her face.
Roy called his Electabuzz "Pull out your slowest pokemon. Makes full use of the room"
"Way ahead of ya!" Sam shouted as he threw out his two Poke-balls, calling out his Tyranitar Tyro, and his Gligar fang. Rhyo, Tyro, Fang, use Stone Edge!" Sam ordered.
All three of his Pokemon dashed at Zapdos with incredible speed, thanks to the trick room, and quickly charged up the attack. light blue rings appear around their body. which then glowed white and formed into white stones that span around them. The white glow then fades into gray rocks. and all the Pokemon fired directly at the Zapdos.
"Rhyooorn!/Tyraaaan!/Gligaaaar!" (Stone Eeeedge!)
Zapdos had barely any time to register as the stones hit directly, causing major damage. "Zaaauugh!"
"Great job guys, don't let up!" Sam shouted. At that moment, Ash and Friends ran outside. "Look there they are!" Ash shouted. "Stop Team Rocket!" Max yelled out.
Sam and Rory turned and gasped. "What the hell are they doing here?!" Sam shouted in shock.
"Who cares, focus on the objective!" Rory replied, getting ready to send out more Pokemon to distract the kids. Just then, out of the sky, multiple bombs, planted with a familiar R emblem dropped down onto the unsuspecting members. The bombs landed and exploded all around, causing everyone to jump back.
"Now what's going on?!" Rory shouted. Just what they needed, more distractions. A familiar laugh was his reply. "Oh for the love of-!"
Everyone, Pokemon included looked up and saw what appeared to be a Robot Zapdos with a Giant R Emblem on its forehead. "Guess who twerps?"~ Three voices sang out.
"Its Team Rocket!" Brock said.
"Prepare for trouble, you little nerdo's !"
"And make it double, were stealing Zapdos!"
"An evil as old as the galaxy!"
"Sent here to fulfill our destiny!"
"Meowth, there's-!"
"ZAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"
Zapdos, apparently furious that there were even more intruders now, and in a terrible metal imitation no less, unleashed a furious Thunder attack directly from the clouds. That struck the machine, electrocuting everyone inside and destroying the robot.
"Guaaaahahahahaaaaaaaagh!" Team Rocket let out a scream as they were both electrocuted with their machine. After an explosion, the Trio fell to the ground still screaming as their broken machine fell with them. "No faaaaaiiiir!" They all yelled as they landed on the ground with a bang.
The Zapdos, still angry, turned its Thunder to all present, sending out multiple lightning strikes laying waste to all the land. "EVERYONE GET DOWN!" Sam shouted.
Rory and Sam and their Pokemon were protected by Sams ground type pokemon who shielded them, while Gligar shielded Gangar. Ash and his friends had to dodge for their lives. When Zapdos finally stopped its attack, it landed on the ground, barely conscious, having to use a lot of energy, as well as still feeling the damage from earlier. Ash and the others weakly got up, having taken cover.
"Ugh, is everyone OK?" Ash asked. "Piii-kaa...!" Pikachu replied. (Barley..!)
"I'm alright...!" Brock grunted. May, who had shielded Max also replied. "Were Ok...!"
Just then, Max gasped. "Guys, look!" Everyone turned and saw one of the two unknown Rocket Agents stand up with their Pokemon, but with some differences, one that was blown off, and the others hood was pulled down with a broken Visor that fell of his face revealing...
"SAM?!" The others gasped in shock. Sam turned and saw the others and exclaimed, knowing his cover was blown. "Ash!?"
"Ash?" Rory asked as he also stood back up, slightly dazed. "ETHAN?!" They all exclaimed. Rory turned and saw the others and cringed, realizing he wasn't wearing his hat. "Sam...!"
Sam: "Rory...!"
Ash and friends: "RORY?!"
Rory: "SAM!"
Sam: "RORY..!"
Just then the rubble of the destroyed Zapdos mecha moved and out popped James. "Jessie?!" From right next to him, Jessie emerged. "James?!" Both then turned to each other. "MEOWTH!"
In front of them, burst Meowth, ridding on top of "WOOOOBBUFFET!"
"ENOUGH!" Sam shouted, which echoed all over the power plant, "Can we please stop with name announcing for like three seconds, please?! It's giving me a headache!"
Tick. Tick. Tick.
"Ugh...thank you." He said with a sigh, wiping his forehead.
"Goddamn idiot. No time to talk. Keep them contained! Electabuzz start draining the Zapdos!" ordered Roy
"Okay," he turned towards the still shocked heroes "Hey, Sorry about this, not really tho. Imprison Missy!"
The 4 trainers had a purple ring of energy constraining their arms to their side. "How could you do this Sam!" shouted May.
While those had their little thing Roy prepared the Rocket Master ball. As much as he trusted Team Rocket he wasn't too sure of the brand new untested capture device. He saw the bird weakening further 'Come on just a little bit more Electabuzz'
The pokemon on his end was having a good time 'This is great. So much power, seems I won't even have to fight and then he looked at the Zapdos' eyes, the eyes of a defiant king 'You want this power? You can have it and he overcharged one more time "ZAPDOS!"
"How could you do this Sam?!" Shouted May.
Sam cringed. Ava and Missy were next to him. Missy was currently using Imprison to prevent the kids and their Pokemon from moving while Ava stood next to him for support. "Look, guys, I'm sorry we didn't tell you we were in Team Rocket, but-!"
"Sorry?!" Sam stepped back as Ash shouted. "How could you?! I thought we were friends!"
" We were, we are!" Sam shouted back. "What does us being in Team Rocket have to change about that?!"
"What does it change?!" Ash asked as if it were a stupid question. "You guys are criminals! You try to steal other people's Pokemon!"
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed.
Meanwhile, still in the rubble, the Trio were having their own revelations about the two. "Those two twerps were Team Rocket operatives?! This whole time?!" Jessie asked James. "If that's true then we've been messing with the wrong people! This could be bad for our reputation!" James responded.
"Let's get going while the going's good!" Meowth said.
"Wobbu!" Wobbufett agreed.
They began to tiptoe away while Rory just rolled his eyes at Ash's retort like he had heard of this before. "Ugh for crying out-Look Ash! Despite what those three have done, were not bad guys! Speaking of which...!" He turned to the fleeing trio. "Where are you going?!" He shouted at the trio that cringed in fear. They tried to flee but were caught in Missy's Imprison. They all screamed in indignation as they were moved next to Ash friends.
"You three are staying here as well! You have been incredibly annoying getting in our way, trying to steal our Pokemon, and nearly ruined our mission to catch Zapdos!"
"Well, uh...no harm no foul?" James asked, sweating nervously. Sam just narrowed his eyes. "You three don't even know who Rory and I are, do you? You never heard of us back at HQ? Or from the Boss himself? You're lucky that I'm not going to tell him what you've done cause If I was, you'd be out of a job faster than a quick attack!"
"It doesn't matter who you are!" Max said. "You'll never get that Zapdos!"
"Don't be so sure Max!" Sam replied as he gestured back to Rory. "With the new Rocket Master Ball, that Zapdos is as good as ours!"
"Rocket Master Ball?" Brock asked. Just then he remembered the incident at the Silph Co. and what Jenny theorized what was taken. "Wait...it was you!" Brock said, getting everyone's attention. "The ones who stole the data about the Master Ball from the Silph Co, it was you two!" Everyone gasped. "And the Pokemon from the Safari Zone, you two did that as well!"
Sam smirked. "You always were the smart one Brock." May glared. "How could you?!"
"How could I not?!" Sam responded. "The Silph Co. was hoarding the Master Ball all to themselves! They wouldn't share it with anyone! And even when they did release one of their prototypes, which is rare mind you, they sell them for extremely high prices making it next to impossible to get one! As for the Safari Zone, We just did what any other trainer that's ever set foot in and caught Pokemon! It was no different when you Ash caught those Tauros!"
"How do you know-?!"
"I read in your trainer League profile after a bit of hacking of course but back to the matter at hand-!"
"ZAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"
Electabuzz got run over by the amount of electricity being poured over him "Elect ELECTAABUZZ" 'Too much POOWWEERR'
Gengar's Trick room also got destroyed blasting the poor ghost type back on her butt.
Everyone else got blinded by the light emitting from the bird. Using that little flash it kawed one last time and flew away.
"NO! Damnit! To the skies Sam!" he then turned towards the trio "You stay here or I'll set our captured Zapdos on you!" he let out Scyther and jumped on its back "Follow that bird!"
Sam watched Roy fly away and looked back at the dazed and now unbound kids with a sad look "Sorry you had to find out like this." He took out his Magnetzone and hopped on it "Just don't get in the way Ash, don't want to hurt you" he said flying away on them.

He return his Pokemon besides Missy and Ava and rushed over to Gengar with a Super Potion that he used to heal her. "Rory needs our help, let me hop on and let's get that Zapdos!" Gengar nodded, usually she would decline but her trainer needed help. Sam hopped on and held his hand. "Ava, Missy, to me!" Ava jumped on his shoulders and Missy flew alongside. "Just don't get in the way Ash, I don't want to hurt you," he said flying away on them.
"Hold on, wait!" Ash called Sam and the Pokemon flew after the Zapdos.
"We just can't let them get away, can we?" May asked.
"No way!" Ash said. "No matter what Sam says, catching Zapdos will just make things worse!" He turned to the others. "We have to stop them!"
"How?" Brock asked. "None of our Pokemon are strong enough to fly us through the air!" Max put his thumb to his chin and got an idea. "I got it!" He said. "We may not be able to fly..." He turned to Team Rocket. "But I know can!"
Meanwhile, the trio was not happy. "Just who do they think they are!?" She shrieked. "Team Rocket or not they do not get to humiliate us like that and get away with it!"
"And who gives them the right to order us around!" Meowth said. "We give the orders around here, not those two!"
"Were the Rocket OG Team!" James said. "We should be ordering them not the other way around!"
"You said it! let's get to the balloon and...What are you twerps looking at?" Jessie asked with annoyance as she, James, Wobbufett, and Meowth found the twerps staring at them.
Sam caught up to Rory as he chased after the Zapdos. He tossed out a Pokeball and recalled Fang. "Alright! Ava, Missy, Gengar, use Shadow Ball! Fang, Stone Edge!"
Zapdos managed to maneuver around the shadow balls but didn't counter due to its weakened state, That was going to change however as it aimed to rise high above the thunderclouds to gather back its power. Roy was hellbent on catching this yellow bird and knew what it wanted to do "Keep it from reaching the clouds! Come on Scyther, Faster! We need to get in as close as possible, We only have one shot!"
The next minute continued just the same "Damn, Legendary bird. Stop moving!" yelled Sam as it still dodged its attack. Just then he heard a certain rat make its move "PI-KA-CHUUU!" Lightning went past his way and hit Zapdos giving him energy. The 2 Agents looked behind to see the group of twerps and a crying trio giving them a look something fierce. Roy gritted his teeth "Damn, twerps..."
Sam growled. "Rory, go after Zapdos and take Fang with you! Hell protect you from electric attacks, I'll deal with them!"
"Understood! Gengar, listen to Sam and take those twerps down! Show them the real power of Team Rocket!" He said, clenching his fist. "Gen!" 'Right!' Gengar replied. Rory, Scyther and Fang flew after Zapdos while Sam stayed behind.
"Oh no, you don't!" Ash shouted, "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"
Zapdos was gearing up for a thunder attack "Counter with Stone edge Feng!" "Gli"
The 2 attacks clashed in a cloud of smoke.
"Quick attack, closer closer. We need to be right beside him!"
Back with Sam and the twerps.
"Counter Gengar!" Said Pokemon threw out a shadow ball.
The shadow ball absorbed the electric attack and then imploded on itself.
Ash gritted his teeth. "Swellow I choose you!" Ash said as he threw out the Pokeball. "Beautifly let's go!" May shouted. Both Pokemon appeared and shouted a war cry. "Aerial Ace!" They both shouted.
Both Pokemon flew towards Sam and Gengar.
"Double Team!" Sam shouted. Gengar created multiple illusions that both Pokemon flew through. Gengar's double team surrounded the balloon, the real one above them "Ava, Missy, use Psybeam!" Sam shouted,
Both Pokemon fired their attacks, knocking the Pokemon back into the Balloon knocking it backwards. "Ugh, careful!" Jessie shouted. "Watch the balloon!" James said.
"Why did we agree to dis?!" Meowth wined as he hugged Wobbufet. "Wobbu...!"
"What are you kids doing?!" Sam shouted. "Do you WANT to get zapped by Zapdos?! And what the hell are you three doing here?!"
Dodging thunder after thunder the gruelling chase kept going and it was Scyther who was beginning to waver. Their species are natural weak fliers, even though Team Rocket had helped it to be decent, training could only take the pokemon so far and none was showcasing more as he began to fall behind the King of thunder. "Scyther push, we can't let him get away. You can do it. You're Team rockets best. Go! Go! Go!"
For all his encouragement it did not help the bug pokemon. Zapdos recognized this failure and saw it as his opportunity to finish this. So he turned around and unleashed his thunder. That's when Feng dashed in front of them and released his biggest stone edge nullifying the attack. "Thanks, Feng" the pokemon didn't respond except it flew beneath the failing Scyther and helped push it to go faster.
"Scyth Scyther" 'Take master. I cant'
"GLIGAR GLIGAR" 'Your master. You will do it'
Rory didn't know what was going on, but he accepted it "Alright Chaaarge!" They made their way up to the Zapdos. Roy looked at the bird right in the eye "Your mine this time, Zapdos!" He threw the Rocket master ball.
"What are you kids doing?!" Sam shouted. "Do you WANT to get zapped by Zapdos?!" He then noticed the huddled trio in the corner. "And what the hell are you three doing here?!" Sam yelled as pointed at them.
"Dis wasn't by our choice!" Meowth replied. "Yeah, blame the twerp brigade, !" Jessie said, pointing to Ash and friends.
"Were innocent!" James quipped. "Wobbu!" Wobbufett said.
(now for lightning round, which ends when they hear Zapdos being caught! how's that?
"We know your plan and Team Rocket is only going to use Zapdos for bad reasons! Thunder Pikachu" Ash ordered "PI-KA-CHU!"
"Bad?!" Sam shouted. Gengar dodged. "Oh and I suppose the man who adopted me is bad too?!" He shouted as he flew around the balloon.
May through out her Beautifly "Silver wind!"
"Wait someone from team rocket adopted you?" said a shocked Brock.
Sam dodged the Silver wind. "Shadow Ball!" Ava and Missy used Shadow Ball, sending the butterfly back into the basket. "That's right!" He shouted. "He took Ava and me in when we were all alone! He showed me what it was like to actually be part of a family!"
"If it's a family that steals and breaks the law, Sam. Then I think you should find a new one! Thunder one more time!" "Beautifly Psychic on thunder!" The 2 combined to make an exceedingly strong thunder
This pissed Sam off. "Ava, Gangar Missy, grab it with Psychic!" The combined power of the ghost and psychic pokemon grabbed the Thunder and started to circle it around them like a barrier. "What the-?!" Ash shouted.
"Send it right back!" The pokemon followed his command and sent the powered up Thunder directly to Pikachu and Beautifly. "Pikachu/Beautifly!" They shouted to their Pokemon.
"How dare you suggest I betray my father!" Sam shouted. "After everything, he's done for me, how could I?!" He then smirked. "I wouldn't be able to hide anyway, he's very high up in the chain of command!"
"Who is he!?" the trio yelled hungry to know who was the father of their friend.
His grin just increased "Oh now that one You'll just have to find that out if ya meet him" He was about to send one last attack when Roy appeared behind him "I got him. Let's go we've been here too long." he left then came back "Don't forget the 2 doofuses."
"Who is he?!" The trio yelled hungry to know who was the father of the young rocket agent, wanting to get on his good side. Sam just grinned. I won't be in Kanto for some time, so it wouldn't matter anymore. Plus I could always erase any records of me if they put me in a database. "Well then, I do suppose you deserve to know the truth, considering what I've hidden from you it's only fair. But first, let me answer your question, with another question. Tell me," He said. "Have any of you ever heard of... Giovanni?"
The Rocket Trio cringed at that name, and the air suddenly grew colder and silent. Thunder clapped in the sky. "Giovanni?" Ash asked. "I don't know anyone with that name," May said. "It does sound familiar..." Max muttered.
Brock then remembered. "Wait I know that name!" He said as he pounded a fist into his palm. "That was the name of the Viridian City City Gym Leader!"
"But wait a minute, didn't Team Rocket use to own that gym?" Ash said, recalling the battle for the Earth Badge. He then turned to the Trio who were looking nervous. "Do you guys know who he is?"
The trio was shaken from their nervousness and looked at the twerps as if they came from another planet. "Where have you twerps been living, under a rock?!" Meowth shouted, catching them off guard. "He just so happens to be Team Rockets leader!" Jessie said as if she were telling them something they were supposed to know. "And he's not someone you oughta mess with!" James said in a warning tone.
"Leader... GASP !" Max turned to Sam. "Sam, that means he's you're...!"
"You guessed right," Sam said with a calm smirk. "Giovanni's my father."
There was a pause...followed by shrieks of shock.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!"
The Team Rocket Trio themselves were in more shock.
"UAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH?!" They screamed.
"You're FATHER?! " Jessie shrieked. "The boss is your father?!" James screamed.
"You're the boss's son?!" Meowth yelled
The Rocket master ball hit its mark and captured Zapdos. He swooped in and captured the holding device and held it in his hand just as he held his breath looking at the ball shaking. Shaking and shaking it went in his hand before finally stopping and giving that familiar noise of completion. "YES," he shouted pumping his fist in the air with the 2 pokemon celebrating with the agent.
On his way back to his partner he had heard the last part of what Sam said. 'So he's Giovanni's adopted son' he thought wide-eyed 'I'll have to ask my partners if they knew. and if they put him with me. There they go again doing everything for me' he scowled "Again."
He called to his partner "Hey, boss' boy! I got Zapdos! Time to make our exit!"
"What?!" Ash gasped. "No way!" Max said.
"They stole our catch!" The trio shouted.
"Wait you actually caught it?" Sam asked. "The ball works?! That's great now we can wait for a second, did you just call me boss boy?" Sam asked.
"Yes, I did."
"...You heard what I said didn't you?"
"Yes, I did."
Sam looked at Ava who had the same expression as him, then back at Rory. "...Ok I'm sure you have some questions...!" He said as he raised his hands. "I do!" Rory said. He was not happy that this information was hidden from him. "But first, we need to make our exit now!"
"You're not getting away!" Ash shouted, more determined than ever to get that Zapdos and release it. "Pikachu, use Thunder!"
"PI-KA-CHUUUUU!" Pikachu fired, but both boys dodged on their Pokemon. "Into the clouds!" Sam shouted and they flew into the storm clouds, hiding from sight. "Where they'd go?!" May asked as she and the others looked around. "I can't find them!" Brock said.
"ZAAAUUGH!"
All of a sudden there was a large flash of light above them in the clouds, followed by a thunderclap. The silhouette of Zapdos appeared in the flash and vanished just as fast. "Was that Zapdos?!" Max asked.
"Well now that the cat is out of the bag, we can do it, Agent Samuel."
"Finally! I've been dying to use it!"
There was a clap of thunder, followed by a strong gust of wind that blew away the clouds and pushed the balloon back. When everyone looked back up, they saw Zapdos silhouette in front of the sun along with two others, a Gengar, and an Espeon.
Sam: Allow us to reintroduce ourselves...
Samuel: "From the depths of darkness, we make our stand!"
Rory: "The tyranny of the light shall soon meet its end!"
Samuel: "Bringing an end to corruption and power!"
Rory: "Creating chaos and tearing order asunder!"
Both: "The rebels in black are striking back!"
Samuel: "The dweller of the darkness, I am Samuel!"
Rory: "And the blight of the light, I am Rory!"
Sam: "At last, It's our hour!"
Rory: "Now, Fear and cower!"
Both: "Under Team Rockets true power!"
Ava/Gengar: "Espeon/Gengar!" "That's right!"
Everyone looked in shock as Sam and Rory revealed themselves, riding the Zapdos. "You better hold on to something kids, you're going for a ride! Zapdos!" Sam shouted. "Aim for that balloon, and use Hyper Beam!"
"Zaaauuugh...!" Zapdos opened its beak, charging the attack.
Everyone started to panic. "IT'S GONNA BLAST US!" They all shouted.
The energy got bigger...

"ZAAAAAUUUUUUGH!"
...And Zapdos fired. It hit the balloon with incredible speed and power, creating a huge hole in the balloon. An explosion was soon followed, and Ash, friends, and the trio were sent rocketing high into the sky, still inside the balloon basket. "What's happening?!" Max shouted. "We're being blown away by Zapdos's Hyper Beam!" Brock yelled. "Everyone hold on!" Ash said as he held Pikachu close.
"Now you twerps no how we feel!" Jessie shrieked.
"Welcome to our world!" James yelled.
"Yeah, 'cause for the first time ever...!" Meowth said.
"WERE BLASTING OFF TOGETHEEEEEEEER!" The trio said as they and their guest flew into the distance. "WOOOOBUFETT!"
DING
They watched their pain in the necks twinkle off into the dark skies of the thunderstorm.
Sam jumped in excitement and jubilance "THAT. WAS. AWESOME! We finally did our motto and I wrote it!"
Rory agreed "It was a good motto, Agent Samuel"
Sam gave him an incredulous look "Good?! it was fucking great! And we did it on top of a muthafucking ZAPDOS! God, I wish someone was here to film this. I would watch that shit on repeat! Like..."
Sam was blasting Roys ears off as he kept blabbing about how awesome this was. Although he also thought the same, flying on a legendary pokemon, how does that not make you happy, he kept that to himself. Roy stopped Sam's yapping "Yes, yes this whole thing is awesome. However, we still have to finish the mission" Sam blushed embarrassed and rubbed the back of his head "Yeah, I just. Hmph, it felt so good y'know?" Roy clarified "Yeah it does, but we must put work first" he turned to start their journey back home "Also I have some questions for you, of the parental nature" Sam knew what he was saying "Oh, yeah. guess since I already spilled the beans," he said sheepishly. Roy just hummed "Uh-huh" and they flew down to a quieter area to have this discussion.
"Zapdos return," Rory said, and Zapdos went inside the poke-ball. "Huh, it really is tamed, just like a regular Pokemon. Now onto you..." He and Gengar turned to Sam, who was just casually whistling and looking away. Ava all doing the same, playing on the ground with her tail. "You've got some explaining to do."
"Oh uh right but before you ask let me just say this...please don't Giovanni!" He said with fear. "It's not exactly something he wants people to know!"
"Yet you told those guys we just sent blasting off not five minutes ago."
"Well yeah..." Sam replied. "But what are they gonna do? Tell the cops of Giovanni's, the 'rumoured' leader of Team Rocket has a 'rumoured' kid? They don't have any proof! Not to mention that I have no file in the Pokemon League database, to them I basically don't exist And if they are added, which is a big if I'll just erase them! Same for you!"
Rory was silent. "I suppose that's fair. Fine, I'll keep my mouth shut, but only after you answer the rest of my questions."
Roy was silent "... 2 things. That group of kids is no ordinary group of kids. They've had dealings with not only team rocket thanks to those idiots. They've also dealt with the police and from what I got on their file, they've been a constant credible source for Team Rocket attacks so them telling Local authorities is NOT out of the question and them investigating it is an actual concern! Secondly, I'm not Giovanni's rumored stepson and I constantly went under an assumed name so hide my tracks, but all that got blown out of the water when you said my name." He took them into the place they were staying, Team Rocket owned obviously and sat down at a table. "Look I'm sorry, alright. Can we just start talking about something else?" Roy motioned for one of the help to bring over drinks "Let's start then. How were you adopted by Giovanni?"
Sam sighed. "Well long story short, he found me and Ava when we were living out on the streets." He took a sip of his drink. "He was impressed with our potential and took us in." He said as he petted Ava on the head.
Potential? What potential."
Sam's eye twitched. "Stealing and battling of course!" He replied. "When living on the streets, I quickly learned that if the world turns its back on you, you don't whine or cry, or even turn your back on the world, you fight back! So I made of living off stealing whatever I needed, becoming one hell of a thief!" To prove his point, he held up Rory's sunglasses, causing the other agent to look up and realize they were gone!
"As for battling..." Sam smirked as he put them on his face, loving Rory's expression "Ava and I worked together when it came to battles, using whatever we could to win, Once, we took down three thugs with fighting type pokemon when she was still an Eve, and we won! Remember that, girl?"
"Espe!/Yup!"
"It was that same battle that caught Giovanni's attention," Sam said.
"So, that's why you were our second-youngest grunt to be on the scene."
Sam went to give Roy back his glasses, but he refused.
"You earned them and they look good on you. Plus they're only 500. Cheap" he said drinking coffee.
That shocked Sam looking at the aviators "500$! FOR THESE?"
"On to the next matter," Roy said nonchalantly putting down the drink "Who put you with me?"
"Giovanni did," Sam replied. "He told me that besides myself, you were the youngest field agent. Also, he said that you could...keep me in check, whatever that meant. Before that, I mostly did solo missions with my Pokemon. ranging from catching Pokemon or stealing information."
The first bit of information gave some thought to Rory 'So it was Giovanni who personally assigned him to me, but that still doesn't rule out my parents. they could have whispered into Giovanni's ears to partner him with me. They are after all more seasoned agents that are also hardliners if he wanted someone to keep an eye on his boy...' his mind continued musing.
Sam just sweatdropped as he was enveloped in the awkward silence while Roy seemed to be lost in thought "Uh earth to Roy"
Roy visually righted himself "...Sorry. So solo missions and counter-intelligence. Tell me did you know of my family?"
Sam put a thumb to his chin. "Only that you're parents work alongside Giovanni as some of his admins I think..." He said. "Apparently, you're family's been in Team Rocket for generation, right?"
"... Yes and let's keep it at that. Don't want you embroiled in the Xanther web."
"Xanther web? So what, you guys are like spider's web or something?" Sam asked. "Or is that an intelligence network of some kind?"
This made Roy chuckle "Intelligence network? You give them too much credit." He took a sip of his coffee enjoying the bitterness of the black coffee "More of a political web. And trust me you do not want to be a part of it. Did you ever consider Giovanni has given us these high profile missions cause of our family's?
"I guess...I mean I never really asked what a 'normal' Team Rocket mission was. You guys do sound like big deals so I guess it wouldn't surprise me."
"As a team, we've only done 3 missions by ourselves. Where it would've taken a batallion to do the same mission. That fighting ring mission, never would it have been just a pair of normal TR agents. And now we've captured a Zapdos. The first of the agency or perhaps the entire history and yet they've passed older, higher-level agents and given it to us. Doesn't that sound a little suspicious?"
Sam's eyes widened "Wow, you're right! It would have made sense to send in a squadron besides just us..." Just then he remembered. "Wait a second..." He brought out his holocaster and entered in his Team Rocket passcode. "I just remembered, we're not the only members to get a mission like this!"
He then showed an image of two Team Rocket operatives, both donned in Silver, uniforms of 'Elite Class' Rank Agents, AKA Officers, the highest level for field agents, second only to Field Executive status. This meant that these two were a rank higher than their own 'Class A' Rank status.
"Do you recognize these two?" He said, showing the image. "These guys apparently got an assignment where they had to capture a Raikou, a legendary Pokemon! An assignment almost similar to ours!"
Roy regarded the picture "Don't know their names, no. However, that's what I'm saying. We are getting missions out of our current class." He finished his coffee "Like we're getting groomed for something."
"Groomed?" Sam looked at the picture and his eyes widened. He and Ava exchanged a look. "Are you saying...?"
Roy chuckled and began getting up "Well, there's no real use in thinking about it now. What are you gonna do?" He said throwing up his hands and started leaving having gotten all he wanted to know when he stopped "Oh and when I told you to not get involved in the web? I think you're already in it."
Sam was silent. Many thoughts going through his mind. Until he remembered. "Agh, wait! We have to send Za-ugh-the Pokemon to headquarters wait!"
He and Ava dashed out the exit...then came back to leave a tip for the waitress. "Thanks, sweetheart!" They dashed back outside. "Wait for me!"
After informing Team Rocket HQ that the mission was a success, they were given a ride via helicopter to HQ where Giovanni and two admins, along with Matori waited for them in his office. After giving them their congratulations in person, he revealed to them that they were indeed being promoted to Elite Agent' class, often called 'Officers' for short. And tomorrow, they would be shipped out to the Sinnoh Region with the objective to build a Team Rocket outpost.
After being dismissed, they went to the barracks station as grunts packed up their belongings at their respective homes. " Officers...can you believe it?! Oh, I can't wait to get my new uniform!"
"Espe!" Ava said on his shoulder.
Yeah... like it was planned." he muttered the last part to himself, getting his own personal briefcase.
"And now we get to go onto a new region with brand new pokemon! Oh, this is so exciting! What Pokémon are you gonna catch from there?" Sam asked jumping with giddiness.
Roy thought about it "None unless there's a really strong pokemon that covers some sort of weakness from my lineup or we need a certain new type of pokemon."
"Well, I know what I'm gonna get! I wanna go for a Luxray! I need an electric type Pokemon and it fits the bill!" As they both went to their barracks, they transferred some of their Pokemon to fellow grunts, under Giovanni's orders. "They will do wonders for you're Pokemon, consider it a bonus for you're hard work and dedication. Not to worry, they'll be fine I assure you."
He had said. These Pokemon were Fang, Vaea, Rhyo, Electabuzz, Magmar, and Scyther.
"I wonder what he meant by that?" Sam said as he went to his room. He shrugged. "Well, as long as they'll be OK. Let's go, Ava, see ya tomorrow Roy."
Early the next morning, both boys walked onto a helipad where a Helicopter was waiting to depart them to Sinnoh. Sam had donned a new outfit, now that he was going to Sinnoh. He was wearing a white Ski cap with the sunglasses that Rory had given him resting on his head. Matching the cap was a white t-shirt with a black shirt on top of it that was rolled up at the sleeves. He had on matching black pants with matching black and white tennis shoes. Ava walked next to him. She was donning her black color with white rhinestones, not needing anything else.
Sam put his glasses on his eyes and fluffed up his collars on his neck. He turned to look behind him. "Come on Rory, Sinnoh's waiting for us!"
