IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT!: I WOULD APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE COULD KINDLY DO SOME FANART FOR THIS STORY, AS I SUCK AT IT. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO, THEN JUST SHOOT ME A PM OR A REVIEW; EITHER WORKS. THE DESIGN AND HOW TO GET IT TO ME WILL BE THOUGHT OF LATER. THANK YOU.
And I'm sorry about not updating in so long. I just needed a break. But I don't think I'll be posting on this story very frequently even now, since I have my midterms starting on the twenty- second. Thank you. I'll most probably start posting frequently again starting October. Thank you yet again.
Calypso curled up on the only sofa in her little apartment. She had just returned from her kitchen where ramen was cooking on stove. She had a little place near the police station with a small bathroom, bedroom, living room, and dining table in the kitchen. Anyway, her cozy white pajamas snuggled up to her as she sat, bringing out her phone. Calypso had just found a great app called "FriendFix" which as you can most probably tell from the name, was to help you find friends. If you couldn't find that out yourself, I worry about your mental health.
After bargaining New York taxi driver for a fair price (seriously, WHY SO EXPENSIVE!), you are hardly likely able to brainstorm a great name. If you can, you're probably a descendant of Einstein. So when Calypso's sister Zoe sent our dear main character for this chapter a link to the app on Whattsapp she just entered 'C' as her username.
As she opened the app, someone named 'L' who had apparently liked the sound of her profile had given her a friend request. She accepted, because not many people like the sound of this profile:
Name: not gonna spit it out to a potentially harmful dude.
Gender: Female
Song: ALL DESCENDANTS SONGS! (THAT'S ME GUYS! ME IS CALI!)
More info: I have a sister who I adore, I'm a police women, my favourite actresses are Sarah Jeffrey, Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson and ESPECIALLY China Anne McLain. I hate night- clubs. Oh, and want to harm anybody I care about? Get ready either for heaven (but I'll personally make sure you get a free one- way ticket to Tartarus ) or a lifetime in the hospital. Thank you. That's it. You may go. Bah- Bye. Good riddance.
L: Hello. You sound like an… interesting person.
C: Nice to meet you too.
L: So… You a police woman huh? I'm a Policeman. And we both have one letter as our username. So much in common.
C: Are you flirting?!
L: Umm.. Nope, not at all, def nope.
C: good, coz I don't feel hunting and killing right now. Tell me about yourself.
L: Savage. My Mom died when I was eight. Went through several foster homes. Became independent at sixteen. Went to year round summer camp. Bought my own place when I was eighteen by selling my machines and stuff. Here I am, six years later ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
C: That's harsh. My mom died when I was little. Dad was a drug addict and dealer. Reported him. Sis and I went to live at with our adoptive Mom Hestia at her place. Zoe's at college. Here I am. OMG! My ramen is cooking. I'll just go get it. Gotta sleep early. Tomorrow's my second day at work, and I haven't made the best impression on one colleague.
L: TTYL. Sleep tight.
C: You too dude. Sweet dreams.
Calypso gave a smile and sighed. This was going well so far. Her very first friend. She smiled. Then the smoke alarms went off and smoke started to fill the small room. The young woman of age twenty- five promptly remembered her instant Ramen noodles. Calypso ran to the kitchen (no run needed) and peered through the smoke at the noodles in pot. "Yup, time to make a new batch." She thought. So she opened a new packet, warmed the water, dumped in the noodles (eating like, half the packet raw. Seriously it tastes amazing.) and leaned against the counter. She decided to call her adoptive Mom and sister, Zoe.
"Hey, Star!" Calypso smiled widely at her mobile phone, using the nickname she always used for her little sister. "Hey sis!" Zoe waved. "Soo… What happened with Artemis?" Artemis was Zoe's college teacher who was trying to get Zoe into the gifted program for exceptional astronomy students.
"About that… I GOT IN!" Zoe jumped around, which was most unusual for her. She was usually a like a hunter of Artemis, from Greek Mythology. This only made Calypso more suspicious, because her favourite College teacher was named Artemis.
"That's great Star!" Calypso sighed. Zoe's smile faltered and flickered, like a tube- light down an abandoned alley at night. You know, like the sort with flies and mosquitos hovering over garbage that was spilling out of the dustbin and dog poop? "What's wrong?" She asked. Calypso sighed again. "Nothing, Zoe, nothing. I'm really happy for you, truly, but it's just that if I was there with you I would throw a party with all our friends, but now I can't do anything. Not even buy you a cake."
Zoe hugged Calypso through the phone. When she did, Calypso got a clear view of her black T- shirt. Zoe retreated and Calypso could see her silver jeans and sword on her T- shirt again. "Sissy, it's OK. Chase your dream. I'll support you in whatever you need to do, even if you want to adorn a diaper again, though that would be a bit weird."
Calypso laughed. How can one person make me feel better in a minute? She thought. "That's the Calypso Nightshade I love!" Zoe smiled. "How's FriendFix working for ya?"
"Wonderful! I made a new male friend already." Calypso exaggerated the 'male'. "Who's feeling bad for not being able to throw a party for her sister now?" Zoe fake pouted. "And… how did your first day at work go?"
Calypso sighed. "Not good. You remember Percy Jackson? He saved both of our lives? I wanted to date him but he wanted to date that Annabeth girl? Well, he's dating her now, and I don't think Annabeth's that thrilled to see me."
Zoe looked at her sister supportively. It's OK. She'll come around. If she doesn't understand how amazing you are, she's a monster who doesn't deserve to live."
By now, Calypso's Ramen was made, so smiling back at her sister, she poured it out and sat down at the very small table. "Hand the phone to mom, Star."
"Sure thing." Calypso felt a tiny bit homesick as Zoe ran around the house; first through her bedroom where Calypso read TMI (A/N: It's by Patty Blount) for the first time. Then, she jumped over the couch where Calypso had fond memories of throwing a party for her younger sister when she started high school and was scared she would not be popular. Then into the kitchen, where Hestia was chopping carrots. It was Monday, so Chicken and Hestia's famous (locally, but still) salad with carrots and cucumbers. Desert was going to be a fruit salad. Calypso was going to miss those home- cooked dinners instead of cheap take- out or instant somethings.
"Hey Mom. How's dinner coming?" Zoe asked, eating a piece of cucumber. "It'll be on the table in twenty minutes, Dear." She replied in her motherly tone.
"Calypso wants to talk." Zoe handed over the phone.
"Hi Mom." Calypso smiled. "Hey Cali! How was your first day at work?" Hestia smiled widely. "I erm, didn't make the best impression on one employee, you could say, and she has her reasons." Calypso said nervously. "Boy Drama?" Hestia nodded sympathetically when Calypso nodded. "It'll get way better, OK? She might even become your best friend. Keep faith." Hestia said in her comforting tones. "I'm sad I'm not able to cook dinner for you. But I know you're managing just fine on your own. If you've eaten already, then sleep Darling."
"Kay, Mama. Goodnight, and tell Zoe that I love you both to the moon and back." Calypso hung up somewhat reluctantly.
Sighing, she set the alarm clock on her phone and snuggled into bed.
"Operation be friends with Annabeth will continue tomorrow."
That was that! I'm really sick while writing this, so yeah. REVIEW PLEASE! You could make feel a bit better.
