Author's Note: I found these stored away, handwritten in a notebook from when I had just finished re-watching Voyager. They are a few of my favorite scenes from the show between the Captain and members of her crew, written from the character's perspectives. No plagiarism is intended; I just wanted to share my snippets and let you enjoy them if you want to! I'll post whenever I get time to type one up. Thank you, and please review!

A Captain's Heart

Chapter 10: From "Twisted"

Tuvok

As the rippling green wave drew closer, he could not cling to anyone or hold anyone's hand. He was Vulcan; however, that did not mean he never experienced emotion. He simply was better at repressing it. Now, though, he wished for some form of comfort. In all likelihood, they were all going to be swallowed by this phenomenon, twisting gruesomely for eternity. He watched as it engulfed the senior staff one by one. He stood ramrod straight as it creeped closer. Logic could not help him. He was powerless. And he was alone.

He glanced down to his Captain, lying sedated on the Sandrine program's couch. Throughout this short time into their journey, she had been a source of undying hope and strength to the crew, including him. He wondered if they would have succeeded in their efforts if she had not been one of their first casualties. Perhaps her determination alone would have been enough to find a way. Maybe it would have made all the difference just to have her working alongside them as she had so many times before. He marveled at how one person could have such an enormous impact on so many lives, stirring up great loyalty and faith in even the most unemotional and indifferent crewmembers.

She breathed in and out peacefully, her features almost angelic in the soft, dim candlelight ambience of the program. And yet, he realized that in her own way, she, too, was alone. No one noticed as he gently laid his hand near her head in a small gesture of solidarity, gratitude, farewell, and very human care.
