Help is Around the Corner
Addison and Derek's trailer catches fire, and Meredith offers them a place to stay for a while.
Lunch in the cafeteria ends for the trio when Addison's pager goes off, and she beckons Meredith and Cristina to follow her.
"Alright, we've got a preemie to deliver. You're both scrubbing in," says Addison.
"Awesome," Meredith beams.
"Cool," says Cristina, always happy for surgery, even if it isn't cardio.
Mrs. Frazer is happy to see them, very ready to see her kid for the first time.
"Hello happy doctors," says Mrs. Frazer.
"Hello," Meredith and Cristina say in chorus.
"We'll take good care of you and your baby," says Addison as they wheel her to the O.R.
"Just count back from ten," says Meredith gently as they start the anesthesia.
And then they begin.
Addison allows Cristina to make the first incision, while she talks them through the steps of a c-section, and then she lets Meredith close.
"Great job both of you," Addison smiles as they scrub out.
"Thanks, Dr. Montgomery," says Cristina.
"Thanks, Addison," says Meredith.
Cristina smirks behind her surgical mask at Meredith using Addison's first name at work, and Addison accepting it.
"Let's celebrate, do you want to get some hot cocoa?" says Addison.
"Juju? Even when it's all good news?" Meredith giggles.
"We've got to have it when things go well too, otherwise we'll just associate it with bad things," says Addison.
"Can't argue with that," says Meredith.
Cristina looks at the googly-eyed expression that Meredith gets around Addison these days, and the way they're leaning so close they're almost touching.
"Do you want to come?" Meredith offers, because of course, she would because Cristina is her very best friend ever.
"That's okay, I'm going to go study for another surgery," says Cristina.
"Aww," says Meredith.
"Do you want a hot chocolate to go?" Addison offers.
"That's okay, thank you, Dr. Montgomery. It was a pleasure," Cristina says crisply, before she leaves Meredith alone with Addison.
Meredith is busy smiling at Addison when Cristina brushes past her, and whispers "lesbians!" in her ear as she walks past, and then walks away too quickly for Meredith to reply.
"Alright, we need to host an intervention," says Cristina, when she and Izzie, and Alex, and George are sitting together on the gurneys in the lower hallway.
"Who's on drugs?" says Alex.
"Not that kind of intervention," says Cristina. "We've got to do something about Meredith," says Cristina.
"What's wrong with Meredith?" says George.
"She's in love, and she hasn't even noticed it yet. And it's all gooey and annoying," says Cristina.
"I thought you didn't like her with Derek?" says Izzie.
"I don't," says Cristina.
"So what then?" says George.
"Oh, you mean her and Montgomery," says Alex with a shit-eating grin.
"Yes, thank you," says Cristina.
"What?" says Izzie.
"They're like, practically attached at the hip. They spend every waking moment together. They have their own secrets and jokes. They'd make a great couple, and plus it would McDreamy out of Meredith's hair," says Cristina.
"So they're friends. I thought it would be weird at first, you know because of the mutual-ex thing but I actually like having the she-Shepherd at the house. She cooks. And she cleans. Unlike SOME PEOPLE," says Izzie, while wiggling her finger at George and Alex.
"Whatever, one crisis at a time. We've got to help her!" says Cristina.
"What do you plan on doing for her exactly?" says George.
"We've got to make her realize that she wants to date Addison before Derek swoops in again," says Cristina.
"Okay, but I see one big issue here," says George. "It's actually the same issue as before. Addison is married. To Derek. They're married Cristina, why would want to set up our friend with a married woman? Wasn't the married man already enough?" he says.
"Right okay, so that's a clear obstacle but it's not like that marriage isn't doomed from the start. Maybe they'll finally split up," says Cristina.
"Look, what's your plan because we don't have all day," says Alex. "But for the record- I'm down for it, because I think girl-on-girl is cool," says Alex.
"Alex," Izzie groans.
"What, you don't?" says Alex.
"You're a neanderthal," says Izzie.
"Okay, so the plan is, one of you is going to hit on Dr. Montgomery whenever Mer is around. Enough so that she'll get jealous, and make a move," says Cristina.
"Why can't it be you?" says Izzie.
"Mer knows me too well, she'll just hassle me about it. Plus I'm with Burke," says Cristina.
"You're with Burke!?" says Alex.
"Old news," says George. "Also if it's a secret, don't kiss in the stairwell," says George.
"Wow," says Izzie.
"Can we focus!?" says Cristina.
"I'll do it," says Alex.
"Ew," says Izzie.
"I don't think I could pull it off," says George. "I mean, she's hot but it's weird, and I think Derek would beat me up, or kill me in my sleep, which he could do by the way, because he lives in our house right now," says George.
"Right, it should probably be a woman… Izzie?" says Cristina.
"Dude, you should do it!" says Alex.
"Oh, get your mind out of the gutter!" says Izzie.
"So you'll do it?" says Cristina.
"Please do it. So I don't have to do it," says George.
"Cristina…" Izzie whines.
"Come here-" Cristina motions to Izzie, who leans in while rolling her eyes at her.
"Come on, look how much it makes Alex want you," says Cristina with a grin of her own.
"For the record, you so owe me for this," says Izzie.
"Awesome," says Cristina.
"And for the rest of us?" says George.
"For the rest of you, pretend that this conversation never happened. It. Never. Happened. Got it?" says Crisitna.
"You don't have to tell me twice," says George, before he scurries away.
"You know, this is ridiculous but t just might work," says Alex.
"I still don't know how I'm going to do this," says Izzie.
"Come on, Satan already likes you, because you like moms and babies and stuff. Start with that," says Cristina.
"Alright, but if this backfires, I'm telling Burke that you told me he sucks at sex," says Izzie.
"He'll never believe you," says Cristina.
"Hah, I'll let you think that. He might get his ego bruised," says Izzie, as she runs off to find the girl Dr. Shepherd.
Cristina rolls her eyes, and smiles to herself as she sees Izzie go towards the OB-GYN wing. Her plan is absolutely foolproof, she thinks. Right?
