Help is Around the Corner

Addison and Derek's trailer catches fire, and Meredith offers them a place to stay for a while.

Burke's patient is quite emergent, and Addison and Meredith are happy to arrive minutes after Burke has summoned them.

Izzie and Cristina are already there scrubbed in, and Cristina is delighted to at least be in the presence of cardio.

While Izzie re-focuses herself on pretending to be attracted to Addison, Cristina re-focuses herself on pretending to not be attracted to Burke as they take their places in the operating room.

Derek summons Meredith to assist him, and Meredith does, while Addison sits and monitors the fetal monitor.

The surgery is going quite smoothly, aided by everyone's assistance.

"So, I was thinking of having a date night," says Preston Burke.

"Oh?" says Cristina.

"Is there a night where you are not occupied by Meredith's house's organized activities?" says Burke.

"Hmm, well, Monday I'm working, but how about Tuesday?" says Cristina.

"That works," says Meredith. "It's not games night, it's not movie night, and it's not cleanup night," she offers.

"Hmm, I'm working," Derek frowns.

"Another time," Addison shrugs.

Meredith's eyes shoot up at them, and Meredith remembers at that moment that Addison is married again. So of course they're going to plan dates. And of course they would want to spend time together.

Why does it make her feel so weird?

Cristina nudges Izzie, and makes a gesture with her eyes, but Izzie whispers to her "I have a date with Alex!" loud enough that everybody hears.

Cristina rolls her eyes at Izzie, and Izzie shrugs at her.

"Well, George will probably be out with Callie…" says Addison. "I think I heard Callie talk about it."

"Guess we'll ah, have the house to ourselves…" says Meredith shyly.

"I guess we will," Addison smiles. "Or we could go out?" Addison asks her. "If everyone is, then why not?"

"Sure!" Meredith says excitedly.

"Watch the brain!" says Derek.

"Sorry!" says Meredith. "But I didn't move, I promise!"

"So you're going to date my wife?" says Derek.

"It's just an evening," says Addison. "We're friends, right, Meredith?" says Addison.

"Right… Friends…" Meredith smiles a bit sadly.

"What do you want to do?" says Addison.

"Well, we might actually want to stay near the house, for Doc," says Meredith.

"Or we could take him out," says Addison.

"True," says Meredith.

"How about taking him for a walk in the park," says Addison.

"Yeah, that sounds really great," says Meredith.

"You could walk him on my land if you want," offers Derek.

"There's poison oak there…" says Addison.

"Oh right…" says Derek.

"How are you people doing in here?" says the Chief, as he pops into the room.

"Great!" everyone says, as they look up from their work.

"Well, that's nice to hear…" says Richard.

Everyone stops talking about date night, and focuses on their work while he's there.

"Well, alright then…" says Richard, as he leaves the O.R.

"You know, he seems a bit lonely," says Addison.

"Yeah," says Derek.

"We could talk to him," says Addison.

"You think, really?" says Derek.

"Yeah, I mean he's our friend, he mentored us both," says Addison.

"Alright, why not," says Derek.

Seeing them get along makes Meredith happy for them, but also sad because they're fixing their marriage, and also a bit jealous, admittedly, and then guilty for feeling jealous. It's a lot of emotion at once, and it's a bit overwhelming.

Fairly soon, the surgery is over, and a success.

Everyone scrubs out, and gets ready to go home. Meredith gathers her crew for her rather large carpool, and they all head back to the big house on Harper Lane.

"No need to cook tonight," says George. "Callie and I are treating everyone to take out because Callie made a man a new arm today, and she wants to celebrate that," says George.

"Cool," says Meredith, secretly happy that Addison won't be occupied in the kitchen.

"Thanks, George," says Izzie, a bit happy that she gets a break from her act.

"Food," says Cristina, happy to be fed because she can't do that part herself anyway.

"Page us when it's here?" says Alex.

"Sure," says George. "Callie's on her way," he adds.

Not having to cook, Addison heads up to her and Meredith's room, and Meredith joins her.

"I was thinking of doing some yoga, could I move this carpet aside?" says Addison.

"Sure," says Meredith, helping her. "I didn't know you did yoga," she adds.

"Yeah, sometimes. There wasn't much room in the trailer to do it," says Addison.

"Right," Meredith giggles. "Umm… Do you want me to leave or…?" says Meredith.

"You don't have to, it's your room too," Addison smiles.

"Okay," Meredith nods, as she hops on the bed, and picks up a book from her nightstand.

She scoots back so she's resting against the headboard, as she watches Addison sit on her yoga mat.

And then, Addison begins stretching, and Meredith looks up over her book to watch her.

Addison puts her hair up in a ponytail and sits cross-legged before stretching her arms up and side to side.

Meredith admires Addison's soft skin, and her long arms, and how Addison's body looks when it stretches.

Addison has her eyes closed the whole time, as she stands up, and stretches out completely, puffing out her chest which Meredith admires.

Meredith has admired Addison's chest before, but that was when she used to compare herself to Addison, back when she cared about who Derek picked.

Now she's admiring Addison's breasts because they look pretty big, and perky, and Meredith kinda wants to touch them. She wonders if Addison would like that, someone fondling her breasts, maybe even touching them with their mouth, and-

Okay, now Addison is doing the downward dog, and her ass is in the air, and now Meredith is looking at her ass, and it's a nice ass. A very nice ass, Addison's ass is gorgeous, and hot in a sinful and deliciously sexy way.

The lust that Meredith has been feeling for the past little while builds up in her body, until all she can do is stare at Addison with a glazed-over expression, practically drooling watching Addison transition through her poses.

She's so smooth, and elegant, and her hair is cascading over her face.

A bit of sweat breaks out on Addison's body as she concentrates on the exercises, and Meredith finds it hot.

Seeing her just moving, and existing, and stretching in all of those bendy ways is doing unspeakable things to Meredith core, and she tries not to fantasize about Addison moving in all of these ways, wearing far, far less clothing.

And speaking of less clothing, Addison must be getting hot, because she takes off her sweater, so Meredith can see Addison's form closer. Her top is clinging to her skin, and it rides up so Meredith can see the thin band of skin around Addison's waist.

Her abs are showing, and Meredith just wants to run the pads of her fingertips over them, or if she's even more daring, maybe even lick them-

At that thought, Meredith almost moans aloud, but she bites her lip instead, not wanting to make it so obvious that she's ogling Addison so hard.

Addison doesn't seem to notice though, she just keeps going on with her routine as Meredith stares, her eyes darkening, her pupils darkening, and her palms getting a little bit sweaty.

The things that Meredith is picturing are so obscene and explicit, she could never ever tell anyone what they were, not even Cristina, not that she'd let her get into that kind of detail anyway.

She thinks she might spontaneously combust if this goes on any longer, and just when Meredith was going to get up, or leave, or do something rather than sitting these helplessly, Addison stands up to her full height, and turns towards Meredith, whose eyes open wide in alarm, and then dart down to her book again.

"I was thinking of grabbing a shower, if you don't mind," says Addison, smiling.

"N- n- no, umm, not at all, umm, yeah-" says Meredith, stumbling and blushing out of her mind.

"Oh, okay?" says Addison.

"What!?" says Meredith, as she watches Addison squinting at her.

"Umm, it's just that… Do you always read your books upside-down like that?" Addison points to the book that she's reading.'

Meredith groans internally, as she tries to figure out some plausible sort of excuse. "Yeah, I totally do. It's good for vision, or the brain, or something," says Meredith quickly.

"Huh," says Addison, shrugging as she walks past Meredith on the bed to reach the bathroom. "Enjoy your book then," says Addison, as she grabs a towel before heading out of the room.

"Enjoy your shower-" Meredith calls out, as she watches Addison walk away again.

In the deepest corners of her mind which she doesn't want to talk to Cristina about, Meredith wishes with all of her might that Addison would ask her to join her.

***** END OF CHAPTER 12

Author's note:

Hey folks, it's been really swell concentrating on this fic lately, I'm so glad everyone is enjoying it, your comments certainly make my day! As a fun fact, the 'Meredith staring at Addison doing yoga,' plotline from this chapter had originally been planned for the fic "Bubble" but then the plot moved past the window for it, and I'd forgotten it. And now there was this chance to write it in, so I hope you enjoyed its appearance. Have a great one :D.
