Help is Around the Corner
Addison and Derek's trailer catches fire, and Meredith offers them a place to stay for a while.
Sunlight streams into Meredith's (and Addison and Doc)'s bedroom early in the morning, and it wakes up Addison first, and she opens her eyes slowly, and admires Meredith and Doc sleeping soundly.
She notes that Meredith does indeed snore quite loudly, and she's very happy that this particular fact doesn't bother her.
She loves every little detail about Meredith, she loves all of her quirks and flaws.
Addison is lying there lost in thought until Doc wakes up, and grumbles because he's displeased with the sun being so bright in the morning, and he starts burrowing himself under the blankets in order to avoid it.
"Rr…" says Doc.
"Morning Doc," says Addison.
"Rr…" says Doc, clearly not wanting to engage in a conversation with anyone at this hour.
Addison chuckles, and tucks Doc's head under the covers as she stares at Meredith again, and then reaches out to stroke her face, and her hair, and appreciate her more.
She thinks she'd be happy just staring at Meredith for a little while longer.
It's a very pleasant morning activity.
Addison was content to let Meredith sleep in a little longer when Cristina barges into the room.
"I need to talk to her-" says Meredith.
"Okay, I'll go get some coffee," says Addison, unthreatened.
She knows that she and Meredith are best friends, and that they often rant in the mornings.
"Mer, wake up!" says Cristina.
"Mm- Sleeping!" says Meredith, firmly pulling the covers over her head, and also Doc.
"I gotta talk to you!" says Cristina.
"Fine…" says Meredith, as she untucks herself from the blankets, hence uncovering Doc, who is irritated by this, and paws at the covers until he's underneath them all again.
"So Burke's out with George, and they're best friends now, or maybe they always were. He likes George's coffee better than mine. He likes George's company better than mine. Is George a better girlfriend than I am?" says Cristina.
"I don't know, are they like, y'know…" Meredith gestures.
"No!" says Cristina.
"Then he's not a better girlfriend than you are," says Meredith.
"Fine," says Cristina. "I know it's good that he has friends and all. I just wish I was the first person he'd want to see in the morning," says Cristina.
"Hey, don't take it personally. You're my best friend and I love you but I was looking forward to seeing Addison in the morning," says Meredith.
"Because you're lesbians," Cristina smiles.
"Well, I don't know about lesbian-lesbians, but we're somewhere in that ballpark…" says Meredith, smiling.
"Oh my goodness! You two did it! Finally!" says Cristina.
"Sh!" says Meredith. "We didn't 'do it, do it,' we only talked about it, and not like 'it-it,' just like, about 'us-us,' and stuff-" says Meredith.
"So you talked about how you wanted to be an 'us,' with Addison?" says Cristina.
"Yeah…" says Meredith.
"And!?" says Cristina.
"And she likes me, Cristina. Addison likes me!" says Meredith excitedly.
"Of course she likes you," says Cristina.
"What do you mean of course!?" says Meredith.
"Rrrrrrrrrrrrr!" says Doc.
"I know, I know, we're waking you up, sorry Doc," says Meredith.
"Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" says Doc.
"I think he's trying to say that it was obvious that Addison likes you," says Cristina.
"Rr!" says Doc.
"He isn't," says Meredith. "He's my dog, I would know," says Meredith. "Right Doc?"
"Rr…" says Doc.
"Doc!" says Meredith.
"Oh come on, Mer. You can't be serious. Everybody knows that you like Addison, and that Addison likes you for like, the past eternity, except possibly you and Addison," says Cristina.
"How has everyone figured it out before me!?" says Meredith.
"Now that is a mystery," says Cristina.
"Rr!" says Doc.
"Oh shush, Doc," Meredith sighs at him.
"Rr-" says Doc.
"It wasn't that obvious," says Meredith.
"Rr…" says Doc.
"Now you're just trying to make me feel better," says Meredith.
"Look Mer, I'm happy for you, now do you have any solutions about the George and Burke thing?" says Cristina.
"Hmm, maybe you could ask George to show you how Burke likes his cappucinos," says Meredith.
"Not bad," says Cristina. "Not bad…"
The two of them stay in bed just talking until Addison comes up the stairs with two cups of coffee.
"Coffee!" says Meredith.
"You have the best girlfriend ever," says Cristina.
"Oh, we're umm… we're not… umm…!?" says Addison. "I mean not that I have a problem with that or anything, it's just, Derek and I, we're still officially married which is changing today by the way but we're umm… We're waiting…" says Addison.
"Until another marriage!?" says Cristina.
"No!" says Meredith. "I mean, unless that's what you want…" says Meredith awkwardly.
"Oh, no! I mean, that's not what I meant…" says Addison also awkwardly.
"Rr!" says Doc.
"Yes Doc, I brought you breakfast too," says Addison.
"Rr!" says Doc.
"You're welcome Doc," says Addison.
"Rr?" says Doc.
"No, no treats for breakfast," says Addison.
"Rr?" says Doc.
"No, we're not giving you treats in bed, that's the line," says Addison. "You've got to walk for those."
"Rr," says Doc, shrugging and deciding that that's as good of a deal as he's going to get.
"Room for me?" says Addison, as Cristina moves over to make room for Addison.
Doc hops off of the bed to enjoy his food, while Addison hands Meredith and Cristina each a cup of coffee.
"None for you?" says Meredith.
"I've had one," says Addison. "And I figured you'd share with me," she says with googly eyes towards Meredith, and Meredith shares her coffee with googly eyes back at her.
"Alright I'm gonna leave you two lesbians to it," says Cristina, as she heads out the door.
"Rr," says Doc.
"Yeah, good morning to you too, Doc. Sorry for waking you up," says Cristina.
"Rr," says Doc.
"Glad you forgive me," says Cristina, as she walks out the door.
Once Meredith and Addison are alone again, they sit and share the coffee back and forth, and giggle endlessly.
They try not to stare at each other, which they of course do, and then they catch each other staring, and then they blush, and then they cuddle, and then they have to try really really hard not to kiss each other.
"This is torture, I want you to get a divorce so we can make out," says Meredith.
"Patience," Addison chuckles.
"But I want to kiss you, and touch you, and do all kinds of naughty things with you-" says Meredith.
"Mm, that does sound quite nice," says Addison, flushing at Meredith's teasing.
"RRRRRRrrrrrr!" says Doc.
"Sorry Doc," says Meredith.
"Oops!" says Addison.
"Rrrrr…" says Doc, shooting Meredith and Addison an exasperated look before he finishes his breakfast, and heads downstairs while muttering to himself.
"We're going to traumatize Doc," says Meredith.
"You're going to traumatize Doc, you're the one doing all the dirty talking," says Addison.
"Oh yeah? You've got to start keeping up with me," says Meredith.
"Mm, I'll see what I can do about that," says Addison, as she whispers into Meredith's ear.
"YO LESBIANS ARE YOU COMING OR WHAT!?" says Alex all the way from the kitchen.
"Guess we better get going," says Meredith.
"Yep," says Addison.
"Oh, thanks for letting me borrow your coat the other day," says Meredith.
"No problem," says Addison.
"I'm wearing it again today," Meredith announces.
"Okay?" says Addison.
"It makes me think of you," says Meredith.
"Awe," says Addison.
"LESBIANS!?" says Alex.
"We're coming!" says Addison.
"About time!" says Izzie.
"We're gonna be late!" says George.
"Is there more coffee?" says Burke.
"You drank it all!" says Cristina.
"No I didn't!" says Burke.
"Mark drank it all," says Derek.
"Did not!" says Mark.
"I had one cup," says Callie.
"We're here, let's go," says Meredith.
"Bye Doc," says Addison.
"Rr!" says Doc.
And they all pile into the cars to Seattle Grace Hospital, and Doc sits on the porch and waves until they're out of sight, and then he crawls back up into bed again, happy that he'll have the house all to himself for a little while.
