Okay, I know I've been ignoring my other stories and keep updating this one, but I'm currently obsessed with it. I mean, can you blame me? Freed and Lucy are so cute together.
Lucy hummed happily as she slid a newly finished letter into a small box. She closed it before gently brushing her fingers over the smooth wood. "I wish you could meet him, mom. Freed is magnificent." She sighed. It had been a week now since they got married, and Lucy was already feeling more at home with Freed than with her father. Freed was so sweet to her, and even excitedly agreed to help with training each other in secret.
Surprisingly, he knew some hand-to-hand combat and was more than willing to teach some moves to her. She had only learned a little bit the previous day, and they were supposed to continue tonight after their meeting with the the head of a shipping company. They were recently founded and she figured they just wanted their money to help "fund" them in their early times.
Lucy sighed and walked over to her bed to glare at her dress lying on the sheets. The maid should be here soon to dress her, she needed to look like the perfect object for standing next to Freed while he spoke business. It infuriated them both but they were willing to play the parts just to get on everyone's good side.
There was a soft knock on her door and Lucy called for the maid to enter. She reached her hands up to grasp the straps of her night gown and tug it down her shoulders, letting the fabric fall to the ground. She stood in her underwear set and turned to give the maid a smile after she heard the door shut.
It fell as soon as her eyes locked on the grinning face of a rugged looking man with brown eyes and a grey beard. He was very tall and muscular, sending shivers of fear coursing through her. She brought her hands up to shield her chest and took a step back. "Who are you?"
He slowly started walking towards her, cracking his knuckles before rubbing his hands together. "We were gonna ship you off for some good cash but I didn't expect you to be such a looker. Maybe I'll have a little fun with ya before takin' you to the boss." He cackled and reached for her.
Lucy's mind was swirling with dozens of emotions in that moment. So that's what kind of shipping company it was. They didn't want funds from Freed, they wanted his wife. She was probably worth more than what Freed would give them.
She swallowed as he got closer and tried to remember yesterday's training. He hadn't taught her much, just the basics, but it was all she had. She had never been more grateful for him starting off with self-defence lessons.
A hand shot towards her and she dodged just in time, opening her hand and shooting her palm up as hard as she could to hit his jaw. He grunted and staggered, giving her that bit of confidence to do the only other thing she could think of.
She brought her leg back before swinging it to hit him between the legs.
He let out a sharp gasp and crumpled to the ground, letting out a small squeak. "Y-You bitch."
Lucy grinned and stuck her tongue out at him. "Don't underestimate me." She saw the fury in his eyes as he started to stand and quickly ran out of the room, hearing him stumble behind her. She needed to find Freed, she left her keys in the bedroom so she couldn't properly fight him. She made a right turn down the hall and smiled brightly when she saw her husband leaving his office. "Freed!"
Freed blinked in surprise when he saw his almost naked wife running towards him, a look of relief on her face. He blushed when she crashed into him in an embrace. "Lucy? What's wrong? Why are you-" He heard heavy footsteps and watched as a man stumbled around the corner, rage in his red face.
"Hand the bitch over before I kill ya too! I'm gonna tear her to shreds!"
Freed watched as the man started approaching them and glared hard. He held Lucy to him tightly and lifted his chin. "You will do no which thing. Insulting her is insulting me, and now you must pay."
Lucy flinched when she heard the man behind her scream in pain. She turned her head away from Freed's chest to peek and fisted her hands in his coat when she saw the stranger holding his stomach in pain, his eyes wide and full of tears.
"S-Stop! Make it stop! H-Help!" He screamed, bile rising up his throat.
"Fear." Freed spat, gently pushing Lucy back to take off his coat as the man cried in terror. He wrapped the coat around Lucy and stopped his spell when he heard footsteps coming closer. He gave her a small smile and kissed her forehead. "You are alright now. Did he touch you?"
She shook her head and held the coat shut. "No. I was waiting for a maid to help me into my dress when he walked in instead. He said they were going to ship me off for money. I was able to hit him in the chin because of what you taught me yesterday. I think he was mostly mad because I kicked him in the balls."
Freed flinched at that last part but chuckled nonetheless. "You were excellent, My Dear. I'm very glad that you are safe." He brushed her hair out of her face. He watched as some guards came around the corner and stared at the intruder in shock.
Lucy glanced at the guards before looking back up at Freed. "They're definitely going to hire more guards now. Fuck, this just made our plan that much harder." She whispered.
He frowned and nodded, lifting his eyes to the approaching guard. "I assume you can handle the rest?"
The guard nodded. "Yes, Sir. Do you happen to know why he was here?"
His gaze wandered to the now unconscious man. "He came in with our client, I believe he was looking for the restroom and accidentally walked in on Lucy and gave her a fright. She ran to me and he must have chased after her to tell her it was a mistake. He ended up running into the wall and I suppose it knocked him unconscious." He ignored Lucy when she looked up at him in surprise and gave the relieved guard a firm stare. "Please bring him with me to meet my client and he and I will discuss things privately."
"Yes, Sir." The guard turned to explain everything to the other guards present.
Lucy blinked up at him and smirked. "You really just came up with all of that on the fly? I'm impressed."
He smiled and brushed his thumb over her cheek. "Yes, perhaps this will keep them at bay and we can avoid my father hiring more guards." He started leading her down the hall towards their bedroom. When they passed the men, he gently pushed her forward. "Please get dressed and meet me in the meeting room."
She nodded and waved, making her way back to their room.
Freed sighed and turned to walk towards the meeting room where he knew his guest would be waiting for him. He heard the guards walking behinds him and had to rub his temple. This was going to be a hassle, but he was just grateful that Lucy was okay. He didn't want to think about what would have happened if she wasn't able to escape.
They stopped in front of a door and he opened it, walking over to his desk across from the man that was seated on a couch directly across. "Please place him on the couch." The guards nodded and he saw the look of fear cross his clients face when he noticed that his companion was unconscious.
The guards placed the rugged man next to the cleaner looking man before bowing and taking their leave. The room was deathly silent, and the conscious man swallowed hard before his gaze landed on the furious glare of the green haired man. "I-I can explain."
"Go on then." He spat.
"W-Well, we are technically a shipping company." The man was sweating now, bringing a hand up to wipe at his forehead. "We just d-don't ship the paper that I told you about in the letter I sent."
"I figured that much out." Freed crossed his arms over his chest, making sure to stay standing behind the desk to peer a bit more intimidating. He was beyond angry, yes, but he has never had to confront someone like this so he wasn't entirely sure what to do. "So then you send off people, is that it?"
"Something l-like that-" He jumped in surprise and let out a squeak when he heard the door open. He heard the clicking of heels until a blonde woman came into view. The same woman from the picture he was sent. "Lucy Justine." He stared.
Freed slammed his fist on his desk, making the man jump. "Do not speak her name."
"Sorry!" He stiffened. He heard groaning from next to him and a bit of hope filled him. The guards must have taken him down, so without any guards around they were sure to succeed in their mission. He grinned and folded his hands together.
"What's so funny?" Lucy frowned.
"You two have made a grave mistake by not having anyone in here to protect you." He saw his companions eyes open. "He's awake and no one is here to stop him a second time."
The couple looked at each other in confusion before realizing what he meant. Lucy placed her hand over her mouth and snickered, watching the rage fill the short mans face.
Freed sighed and shook his head. He supposed it can't be his fault in thinking that since he didn't know that they possessed magic. The rugged man sat up and paled when his eyes landed on Freed
"P-Please! I'm sorry! Just let me go and I won't ever do it again!" He waved his hands in front of his face.
The grin fell from the other mans face and his eyes widened. "It wasn't the guards that took you down?"
"Hell no!" He trembled.
"Look," Lucy sighed, walking to the front of the desk to lean on it, placing her hands on the smooth wood. "We're in a bit of a predicament, so we'll make you a deal." She gave them a smile. When they nodded, she continued. "We've made up a story for the guards and let them know he was just confused while looking for the bathroom and then ran into the wall and was knocked unconscious. If you can play along with it and promise to never show your face here again, you won't be locked up in a dungeon where I'll shackle you to the wall and slowly slice your little dicks off before force feeding them to you. Sound fair?"
Freed's eyebrow twitched but was able to keep his face neutral. If there was anything that he learned this past week, it was that Lucy's vocabulary was nothing short of colourful, her mind working in almost scary ways. Yet somehow it just made her that much more appealing. He saw the men nod in fright and felt a swell of pride for his wife.
"Wonderful!" Lucy smiled, clapping her hands together. "We will have a maid show you off and we will let Freed's father know that we couldn't come to an agreement for funding your company." She then glared at them and leaned forward. "But if we find out that you're continuing to sell people off, we will show no mercy."
They nodded and a maid was called before she escorted the guests out of the room.
Lucy sighed and gave Freed a pout. "You're not very good at threatening people, Hun."
Freed chuckled and walked around the desk to stand in front of her. "I do apologize, I've never had to do something like that before. This is why I wanted you by my side. No matter how much I didn't want you near them again, I needed your wonderful brain." He brought a hand up to cup her cheek, smiling when she leaned into his touch and closed her eyes. He brushed his thumb over her cheek, "I am so happy that you're okay."
Lucy opened her eyes and looked up at him, her breath catching when she noticed he had moved his face closer to her. They stared into each other's eyes and she brought her hands up to his shoulders when she felt his hand slide from her cheek to hold the back of her neck. She saw him slowly lean closer and felt her eyes flutter shut.
Freed heard a gasp behind him and pulled back quickly, blushing brightly and turning to face the maid standing at the doorway. "Is there something that you need?"
"A-Apologies, Sir, I didn't know that you were in here. I just came to clean but if you're busy then I will excuse myself." She quickly bowed before skittering away.
He sighed and turned back to Lucy, a small flush on her cheeks with a grin. "What is so amusing."
"You're cute when you blush." Her grin widened when his blush deepened.
He cleared his throat and took a step back. "I apologize for invading your personal space like that, I must learn to control myself."
She tilted her head with a lazy smile. "Are you saying that I'm irresistible?"
Freed sputtered, her laughter filling his ears. "I-I will not deny that you are very tempting, but I am no heathen that will throw myself at you because of my own feelings."
Her heart fluttered. His own feelings, huh? I guess it mutual. "I'll forgive you this time, but maybe try asking permission next time if you wanna kiss me."
"Yes, of course! I'm very sorry!" He bowed.
Lucy laughed and reached for his swinging hair, tangling her fingers through the ends as he stood straight. "I'm only teasing, I'm not actually mad. I was really happy when I thought you were going to kiss me."
His heart jumped and he stepped closer once more, placing his hands on her waist. "May I kiss you?"
Lucy blushed and glanced at his lips. They looked soft and she would love for them to be her first kiss "No." She giggled.
He pulled back and blinked. "No? But I thought you said you would like to kiss me."
She saw the pout on his face and held in a squeal. He so cute! "I do want to kiss you, but the mood is ruined. Maybe next time." She chuckled.
He sighed and let out his own small laugh. "Yes, and I will make sure that this 'next time' will come very soon."
Rough hands left her waist to grasp her own. "You think so? You must be very good at setting moods."
Their fingers entwine and he places a kiss to her knuckles. "I would say I am fairly good at it considering I set it just fine after you threatened someone's genitals."
She threw her head back and let out a throaty laugh. "You got me there."
He chuckled and pulled her back up into an embrace. "Indeed."
"I should really find some kind of leg strap so I can have my keys on me at all times." Lucy sighs as she brushes her hair at her desk in their room.
Freed looks up from his book from his spot on the bed. "That would be a good idea. I won't be around all of the time, and who know what else might happen."
She places her brush on the desk and turns to face him with a frown. "It's not only that, I don't want to have to rely on you every time I'm in trouble. That's kinda the whole point as to why we're training together." Her eyes fall to the ground. "I don't wanna be some useless mage that needs saving all of the time."
Freed shuts his book and places it on the bed before making his way over to her. He hooks his finger under her chin and lifts her gaze to meet his. "You are far from useless. You managed to escape from someone who was twice your size with your physical skills alone. You even managed to scare the living daylights out of them with just your words. Our training is very limited at the moment but I believe that you will find your true strength in no time."
She grabs his hand from her chin and fiddles with his fingers. "I just want to make you and Laxus proud."
"And I am very proud. Do not fret that you came running for me, if it is what you're heart tells you, then you must follow it." He leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead.
She smiles and stands, wrapping her arms around his waist in a tight hug. "I hope we can leave soon. I wanna explore the world with you."
He buries his nose in her hair and wraps his arms around her shoulders. "I would like that as well, My Dear."
They stood there for a moment before there was a soft knock on the door. They pulled apart and Freed called for them to enter. A maid opened the door and gave a bow. "Master Frederick would like to see you, Miss Lucy."
Lucy nodded and the maid left. She looked down at her nightgown and sighed. "I'm not dressing up at this hour. It's late and I don't even want to see him."
Freed walked over to their closet and pulled out her robe before handing it to her. "I wonder what father could want at this hour. Would you like me to come with you?"
She shook her head and slipped on her robe. "No, it's probably something stupid and I don't want him to get mad at you since he only called for me." When she saw him nod, she flashed him a quick smile before making her way out of their room and down the large hallway. She stopped in front of her father-in-law's office and tightened the knot on her robe. She brushed out any wrinkles on her clothes before giving a soft knock. At his gruff voice, she entered. "You called, Sir?" She shut the door behind her.
Frederick looked up from his paperwork and gave her a firm stare. "Yes. Sit down."
She quietly made her way to the chair in front of his desk and took a seat. As he continued writing things down on the papers in front of him, she couldn't help but think he was exactly like her own father. Straight to the point without any greeting. They sat in silence and she twiddled her fingers to distract herself so she wouldn't ask him why she was there. She had never been alone with him and her heart was pounding in nervousness.
He finally brought his eyes back up to meet hers. "I expect that you and Freed have completed your duty on your wedding night. I have made arrangements for you to see a doctor next week for a pregnancy test. It will be on Monday at noon, do not be late. You are dismissed."
His eyes went back to his paper and she let out a quiet breath of relief. She didn't know what to expect, so she calmed down at the fact that it was just about being pregnant. "Yes, Sir." She stood and took her leave.
Of course it would be about a baby, she didn't know why she didn't think of that. It didn't surprise her that he wanted to get her tested right after the two week mark from their wedding night. She's sure that if he was available on a Saturday, he would have definitely brought her in on that day. Her father would have done the exact same thing.
As she made her way down the hall, she couldn't help but wonder if he would make them both take a fertility test after he found out that she wasn't pregnant. She sighed. She wouldn't put it passed him, he seems like he wants her to have a baby boy as soon as possible. She frowned and crossed her arms. She was only eighteen, she didn't want any kids now. She was still a teenager and wanted to live her free life in a guild before settling down with Freed.
A blush bloomed on her face and she stopped in front of their bedroom. Why did she think of Freed right away and not another man? Yes, she had feelings for him, but she was still trying to figure out if they were only there because he is the first man her age outside of her mansion that she had met. Besides, who's to say he wants to continue the relationship outside of the convenience it brings with their escape.
He did try to kiss me. She brought a hand to her chin. Romance was so confusing, it was never this hard in the stories that she read. She really did like Freed. He was handsome and gentle and caring, he even put up with her foul mouth. He was strong and intelligent, and she loved how he smiles at her before kissing her forehead.
She nodded and gave a smile. She's decided that she wanted him to stay by her side for as long as he'll have her. She cared about him a lot. The way that he was so protective over her that day made her heart soar. Maybe he really did feel the same way.
She took a deep breath and opened the door, her eyes landing on Freed who was once again sitting on the bed with his book.
Freed lifted his eyes and gave her a smile. "Welcome back. How did it go?"
She took off her robe and laid it on a chair before making her way over to the bed. "It went fine." She said while slipping under the covers. "He said that he arranged a pregnancy test for Monday. He's gonna be pretty upset when he sees that there's no baby." She chuckles.
He shut his book and placed in on his nightstand. "Indeed. He will probably want a fertility test done on both of us."
She nodded. "That was my exact thought. My father never bothered to do one on me and I'm guessing you've never had one either."
"I have not." He confirms.
There was a soft glow coming from inside Freed's nightstand that caught Lucy's eye. "Uh, Hun? What is that?" She points to the glowing drawer.
He glances down and smiles. "Ah, it must be Laxus." He pulls open the drawer and grabs the flashing lacrima. He send a burst of magic into it and is met with a scarred face. "Hello again, Laxus. It has been a while."
Lucy leans closer to Freed excitedly and waves. She hasn't seen the other blonde since her and Freed's first meeting. "Hi, Laxus!"
"Hey, Freed, Blondie." He nods. "It's been a week now. How are things going with the plan?"
Freed chuckles and rubs the back of his head. "I would not necessarily call it a 'plan'. But, all is going well so far, my father thinks that we are here to stay."
"There were some assholes that almost ruined our plans today, though. If it wasn't for Freed's quick thinking, his father would have hired more guards." Lucy frowned.
"Oh?"
Freed nods. "Some men came in under the disguise that they were from a paper shipping company and tried to kidnap Lucy to sell her." He watched as Laxus' eyes widened and he wrapped an arm around his wife. "However, she was able to escape a large man with her combat skills alone and then threatened their manhoods." He laughs.
Lucy blushes. "You make it sound like I did all of the work."
Laxus blinked and stared at the blonde woman. "Fuckin' hell, Blondie, it's one thing for someone as small as you to escape some big brute, but did you really have to go that far?" He grinned teasingly. "What did you say?"
Her blush deepened and she looked away form the amused eyes. "I said that if they came back that I would shackle them in a dungeon and slice off their dicks before force-feeding it to them."
Laxus howled with laugher and threw his head back. "That's too good!" He cackled, looking back to the snickering woman. "Who knew you would have a mouth on you, you'll fit right in to Fairy tail."
She beamed at him. "If that's all it takes to fit in, I'll have no problem threatening people's junk!"
Laxus chuckled and shook his head. "You sure got lucky, Freed. Careful she doesn't go after your dick next."
Freed cleared his throat. "Yes, I will be sure to stay off of her bad side."
Lucy giggled and kissed his cheek. "You're never on my bad side."
"Right, well I can see where this is going. I'll let you two have some privacy. Make sure to wear protection!"
They both blushed brightly and Lucy stuck her tongue out at him. "Don't be a pervert!"
Laxus cackled one last time before the lacrima went black.
"I'll definitely give him a piece of my mind when I meet him for real." She huffs.
Freed chuckles and placed the lacrima back into his nightstand. "I'm sure you will have to do it a few times, he never holds back with his words. Unless it's an apology of course because he's too prideful."
She rolls her eyes and slides under the covers before shutting off the lamp next to her. "Great. Maybe I'll have to reconsider wanting to be in the same guild as him."
He shuts off his own lamp before sliding under the covers as well. His left arm opens for Lucy to cuddle up next to him and wraps it around her shoulders. "I think it'll make things more interesting to have you two fighting all of the time."
Lucy yawns and shuts her eyes. "Whatever, I just hope we can leave soon. Goodnight, Freed."
Freed kisses the top of her head and lets out a contented sigh. "Goodnight, My Dear."
Ugh who's writing this story, what's with the teaser for the kiss? LAME
