Chapter 12
Rex vs Ursula Part 1
With the final match of Round 2 coming in mere minutes, everyone was getting rather restless to see their final fight for the day, murmurs and whispers echoed around the seats as they questioning whom would come out on top this time around, between Dr Ancient's son Rex and Dr Z's last remaining member of the Alpha Gang, who was also his step daughter. Needless to say Dr Z felt an immense amount of pressure weighing on his shoulders knowing that despite his victory over Blaze, should anyone else under him do anything disgraceful it would tarnish the great image and respect he managed to build up so far. As the crowds became impatient and grumbled, he sweated anxiously as he paced back and forth, eying the clock as the sunset descended upon the arena and still no sign of Ursula to be seen. Not just him who was worried about her, the rest of the Alpha Family was rather uneasy or worried something may have happened to her, while others thought she may be goofing off somewhere else like shopping for new clothes at the mall or fallen asleep in the spar or something.
Unable to control himself any longer, Dr Z fumed red and gritted his teeth immense with rage as he hissed as though he were in excruciating pain, "Grr! Where is that lousy no show Ursula!?" He growled stomping his foot impatiently, as it brought back unpleasant memories of her being 'fashionably late' yesterday while being a fashion disaster herself, "If she makes a fool out of me for the umpteenth time in front of all these people again I'm going to-"
"Excuse me? You're going to do what Dr Z?"
"GAH!" Dr Z yelped in a panic at the female voice that spoke to him out of nothing. As he turned around to see Ursula smiling at him rather casually, "There you are Ursula! About time you showed!" He gasped in relief now he could save face.
"Hee hee, would I ever let you down?" Ursula giggled cheekily, though it served to further annoy Dr Z as he fumed red with rage.
"Grr! What kind of a question is that you twit!?" He growled shaking his hands frantically while stomping his feet in a childish tantrum.
In response to his ungrateful outburst, she frowned and narrowed her eyes, yet said nothing back to Dr Z, who was oblivious to her new change.
"Not just that! Where were you this whole time!? Ever since the first round ended you disappeared to who knows where! You didn't even come to see Ed or Tank like the rest of us!" He pointed out at her, "I demand a valid explanation! Anything else will be completely unacceptable!"
Despite his threats, Ursula remained unfazed and instead of either making excuses or grovelling before him, she merely folded her arms and calmly replied, "Hmph, you wanted me here on time and here I am, that's all that matters. You should grateful I actually showed up this time around and didn't turn out fashionably late like I wanted to." She said which made him blink his eyes unexpectedly, "Plus, do you think you have the right to demand or complain anymore?"
Dr Z could find no way to respond her calm and respectful reply, "Err….well I…err…." He scratched his head uneasily, the way Ursula used her words she was putting him into the position of being in the wrong. Plus he expected her to grovel and beg as usual, he hadn't expected her to talk back to him like this so he was really unprepared. He then shook his head clear unwilling to let it bother him for long, clicking host tongue and pointing at her with a hard scowl, "Tch! Just make sure you win this! Put that brat Rex in his place! No way am I going to have any threats to my throne! Especially not from Ancient!" He yelled with authority as she listened on, "After all you and I are the only ones left in the Alpha Gang, so it rests on both our shoulders now to make sure our future place as prehistoric pioneers remains so!"
Ursula though remained unfazed as she waved her hand at him, "Rest assured Dr Z…..I don't plan on doing anything….disgraceful like last time I can assure you." She told him most politely in a well mannered way.
"Eh?" Dr Z once again stared at her speechlessly, he was prepared to berate and reprimand her should she make some sort of excuse but he had no way to respond to this. "Did you hit your head or something? You don't sound right to me….." He questioned her n narrowing his eyes with suspicion. He knew his lackeys weren't right in the head but he didn't think she'd have it so bad that she'd be so out of character….as he began to wonder if she was acting out of stress or whether he did something wrong.
"Hmph! Whatever, just as long as you don't disappoint me…." He then scoffed shrugging it off as nothing, "Which you and your underlings are the only things you've ever been good at!" He added at the end.
Ursula frowned with annoyance at Dr Z's continued berating and lack of faith, but it sound turned to a light smile as she calmly replied, "Well then, I believe you'll find this round to be quite….different than you'd expect Dr Z." She said to him, as he blinked his eyes at her once again surprised, "I intend to perform this time with a little more grace and elegance after all." She said her last piece with a smooth kindness in her tone before making her way up to the stage on top with Dr Z staring blankly at her as he was still trying to process what was going on.
"O….kay?" Was all he could say as he let Ursula walk past him as she made her way up the stairs as the MC called out announcing her arrival.
"As we now arrive at the final match of Round 2, let's all give a warm welcome to the Alpha Gang's fiery femme fatale! Ursula!" Despite his best efforts to encourage cheers from the audience all the MC ended up doing was ensure everyone's silence as they began shooting hard and furious glares towards her for what she did to Marina, while others either watched or looked away in fear and unease.
"About time Ursula showed up." Rod muttered with a mild frown as he folded his arms.
"After what happened last round kinda thought she'd be a no show." Laura added before shrugging her shoulders, "Which I wouldn't really blame her if that were the case but guess not."
"She may be doing herself along with the rest of us a favour if she didn't come though…." Rod then commented after her which made their parents frown at them both.
"Kids, don't you think you're treating her a little too harshly there?" Caroline asked them both with concern. Even if Ursula wasn't the nicest person she knew, she still was family in a way, a sentiment shared by her husband Steve.
They both then sighed in response to their parents, "Actually I think we're being too generous mom." said Laura rather pityingly.
"I mean you do know this is Ursula right dad? You've grown up with her as long as you could remember and you know all the mean things she and grampa did with Ed and Zander right?"
As they looked to one another and considered their kids' words, "I….suppose if you put it like that…." Steve scratched his head while Caroline found nothing else to say.
Ed and Zander through took offence as they scowled at them for being so insensitive, "We're right here you know….." They muttered grumpily which of course went unnoticed to their annoyance as the kids paid them no heed.
Dr Z wanted to cheer but he couldn't bring himself to do it all alone less stirring up the fire of an angry mob.
"It's her…." the Water Captain frowned with sadness, recalling her previous match and remembering how she was unable to reach out to her heart.
"Hmph…." Blaze scowled angrily towards her, before he may have been neutral or somewhat friendly towards the lady form the Alpha Gang but now he only harboured a grudge against her for what he put his wife through, unfortunate he won't be able to get the chance to avenge her now that they both were out.
"Tch! The nerve of her to actually come….." Craig grunted sharing a similar expression to Blaze.
Raina and Hua said nothing though, and while they didn't always agree with each other, here they were on the same unnerved or concerned wavelength as the memory of Ursula' earlier battle had been burned deep into their minds, leaving behind a rather unpleasant mental scar there, which was to be same for everyone else as they made it clear to her.
"BOO!"
"Get out of here!"
"How dare you show your face here again!?"
"What you did was unforgivable!"
"You should just leave!" All kinda of rants and jeers echoed from around the stadium seats so loud bystanders or pedestrians outside the arena could hear! Several of which also did the same from the comfort of their homes.
Meanwhile Dr Owen had the loyal die hard for Ursula fan in him screaming in agony to cheer her on in the hopes she wouldn't feel unloved or discouraged. But looking around and sensing the immense hatred or fear building up around him from the other spectators he just couldn't bring himself to do it less he wanted to get backlash in return like last time or worse. In fact not long after her last battle, he and Patrick were chased by an angry mob and several other vicious dinosaurs after her battle ended and he didn't want to go through that again. Plus Patrick was there to literally muzzle him this time around, having it on hand and at the ready.
"Oh dear….." Cera sighed feeling real sorry for the old lady.
"Ooogh….Tough crowd…." Max commented before breathing out a sigh of relief, "Glad I'm not out there right now…."
"Uh oh! She's gonna blow any second!" Rex covered his ears as the D Team braced themselves for another eruption of Mount Ursula!
To their surprise though, all Ursula did was huff rather uncaringly as she looked away, "Hmph! Just for that, none of you will be getting any autographs." She scoffed calmly which made everyone "Plus if I just left none of you would be able to see me give you all a good fight like you always demand from everyone else." She added shaking her head in disapproval, "You really ought to make up your minds." While feeling a little ticked off she didn't let it bother her in the slightest much to everyone's surprise.
Everyone blinked their eyes in shock, stunned that they witnessed….nothing out of Ursula. They were expecting the worse to occur but no way did they expect her to do nothing at all about the insults hurled at her. Though no one was as surprised as the Alpha Gang as they stared with mouths agape and speechlessly back at the hospital room.
"Sh…She's definitely sick or brainwashed by aliens!" Dr Z cried out in shock, freaking out completely in bewilderment. But he soon calmed down as another thought crossed his mind, "Or maybe she's finally grown up and matured?" It was only momentary though, as he quickly shook his head and got his thoughts straightened out, no way Ursula would ever do that. If she didn't act vain and narcissistic every 10 seconds it just means she isn't Ursula at all in his book, "No! After this match I'll straighten her out myself! I'll bring her back to the person she once was and how she should be!" He growled to himself as he made a mental note for later.
"Okay…..Did not see that coming." Was all Zoe could say as she and the others couldn't comprehend what just happened.
"M…Maybe she's just holding herself back for now, she still does have a short fuse after all." Max thought still feeling rather suspicious.
The mood was about to take a 180 degree turn with the arrival of the next round's second contender, "And her opponent, the son of the great Dr Ancient himself! Let us all welcome Rex Ancient!" The MC then announced for Rex, which attracted a way more positive fanbase than Ursula did needless to say.
"Blow away that old bag!"
"Avenge Marina for us!"
"Don't you dare lose!" They cried out to him, though it wasn't their input that mattered to Rex, but that of those he held dear to him.
"You can do it!"
"Do your best honey!" His parents called out to him cheering on their son and hoping to inspire great morale in him.
"We look forward to your remarkable performance master." Jonathan added with a firm nod and smile on his mechanical face.
"Go Rex my boy! Make me proud!" Dr Owen suddenly cheered shaking his arm out in a twirl, only to realise he said so right next to his actual parents as he took his words back, "Oh! Sorry…it's just that…well…." As he scratched his head unsure of what to say to them, Rex's mom shook her head.
"Hee hee, there's nothing to worry about." Cretacia giggled in amusement taking no offence.
"While we may be his parents you are the one who raised him to become the man he is today Owen." Ancient added after his wife, "If anything you deserve to cheer as much as we do, or maybe even more so."
Feeling deeply honoured, Owen smiled back at them, "Th….Thank you…." No matter what it was clear he was as much a father to Rex as his birth parents were and that he was most assured of now, as Patrick smiled patting him on his shoulder commending him.
"Senor…."
The other parents also smiled at the most touching moment they had. Though deep down Dr Owen was fighting an inner conflict deep within, to choose between his adopted son and crush was tearing him up from the inside out so it was a miracle he was able to keep a straight face.
Seeing everyone rooting for him and how they couldn't wait to see him in action, "Well Rex, looks like it's your turn now." Max encouraged his best friend as he patted him on the shoulder.
He nodded back at his friends in response, "I know." Deep down he vowed not to let them all down.
"Just be careful out there, there's no telling what underhanded stunt Ursula's got planned." Zoe said to him with concern.
Cera narrowed her eyes after her, "Yeah, don't let your guard down for a second Rex, you know she's always up to something sneaky." She said to her friend, knowing from experience how unpredictable the Alpha Gang usually were especially Ursula, the phrase fickle as a woman's heart couldn't be more true for her….but then again sometimes she does the actual kind of unexpected in a good way before….so she wasn't ruling that possibility out completely.
"Mhmm…." Rex nodded in agreement to keep his guard up, and yet like Cera he could feel something was off but not the worrying kind. He then shook his head deciding not to worry about it too much as he then smiled back at them calmly, "Relax, I've got it covered. No way will I drop my guard down even for a second." He put a hand to his chest retaining his cool composure, "I'll be sure to fight with my head as well as my heart." Rex then held a thumbs up at them, "Don't worry I'll be sure to make the D Team proud." He promised to which they smiled back at him.
"We know you will."
"Good luck!"
"We're rooting for you!" They cheered for him as he nodded in turn, feeling most motivated and carrying on their hopes and wishes thus spurring him to fight a battle they can all be proud of.
"Mhmm." Turning his back to them he then turned rather serious as he pondered over the kind of battle he would soon face against the old lady, normally he was used to her playing her underhanded games where she often stacked the deck in her favour, but this time around he felt something rather different this time. Thinking to himself perhaps he'll find out what it is in their battle, after all from what Cera once told him a battle is what reveals a person's true self based on their moves and behaviour during said battle. Whether Ursula was really trying to psyche him out or has changed, he'll soon learn as he made his way up to the stage.
As Rex neared the top he began to narrow eyes tensely, as he began to realise he never actually once beaten Ursula before one on one, remembering past incidents like in the museum and at Niagara Falls. As dirty as she was Ursula was a very strong fighter capable of holding her own given her T-Rex was stronger than any of their dinosaurs one on one, having defeated each of them at least once before. He swallowed hard as he readied himself mentally for the task he was about to brave, "It'll take every ounce of skill to pull this off….but if anyone can do it, it's me and Ace." He told himself with assurance as he sported a more confident look on his face as he arrived at the top face to face with his opponent.
"Well, looks like it's finally down to you and me now old lady." He said firmly towards Ursula, who simply folded her arms and didn't respond much to his forbidden words to his surprise.
"Hmph! I'd appreciate it if you save your petty insults for the battlefield you rude little delinquent." She scoffed which further deepened the mystery for everyone, having self control was one thing but to not react to her taboo was something all too bizarre.
He blinked his eyes in surprise, "Huh? She's not exploding and throwing a fit?" Something must be up now he just knew it. No way could Ursula of all people get over those hated words in just 1 night….could she?
Seeing how confused he was, "Hehehe, I can assure you that I'm not the Ursula you know anymore." Ursula smirked with a hint of her trademark snobbish attitude in her words and yet with a newfound elegance too, "After the unfortunate incident that happened last round, I've been reborn!" She proclaimed before striking a pose, "What you see before you is a new Ursula, fully dedicated to be as refined and respectful as she can, not to mention having undergone a journey of the strictest self control and discipline one could find in life."
Rex raised an eyebrow at her suspiciously, "Really? You and self control? That's something I never thought could be possible or even have in the same sentence…." He said rather bluntly, though he could see traces of her usual vanity there so maybe he was overthinking it….but still she was acting rather rationally, not like herself at all.
"You can choose to believe it or not, but frankly I don't care one bit." Ursula then huffed as she shrugged her shoulders, before putting a finger to her chin in thought, "Rather I'm curious to see how well you'll fare against me this time around, though I do hope you'd leave out whatever bitter history we've had a while now." She added, "In this arena, we're not enemies but merely rivals on opposite sides of the ring playing the same game and aiming for the same goal." She then said.
Once again her calm and cool attitude caught everyone by surprise as they stared still unable to comprehend what she just said, some felt they needed to get their ears checked.
"Well….That's a mature way of saying it…." Spike whistled.
"Yeah, never thought we'd get that from her." Cretacia muttered not believing it herself, "Is she sick or something?"
"Must be a bluff! Don't fall for it Rex!" Zoe and Max cried out to him as others also chanted similar words his way.
Despite the warnings of his friends, Rex narrowed his eyes, to his surprise he could sense no hidden hostility or deception in Ursula's words. With their many months of battles behind them to prove it he kinda had an understanding of the way she ticked based on his instincts alone, so for her to act out of her usual behaviour was rather puzzling to him. As if she was brainwashed by someone or perhaps she had changed as she said…..
Regardless he still kept his senses on high alert after all this was still an arena after all she was right about that much at least. Though then again a battle could be just the way to either confirm or disprove his suspicions, "We'll just see how much of what you say is true in battle then!" He said firmly, deciding to take it with a grain of salt as he took out his card, "Dino slash! Carnotaurus! Blow em away!" Slashing his card, Rex summoned forth his partner Ace to full size as he appeared on the ground and roared fiercely by his side, his appearance causing the crowds to cheer with excitement as another fan favourite of theirs' had made it on stage!
Ursula smirked in response, feeling an easy win coming her way, "Hee hee, I look forward to it." She giggled responding to Rex's challenge which she gladly accepted as she did the same as he! "Alpha Slash! Go Tyrannosaurus! Flame up!" Terry appeared on the field in battle form and let out a tremendous roar at the top of his lungs which shook the area around them! The crowds having felt the immense strength from him and also recalling the immense firepower he wielded, enough to overwhelm Marina, they all quieted down and hardened their gazes with unease and fear, others tensing up with anger towards them as the aura in the arena became very heavy.
Ursula herself could feel the unease and glares of disdain aimed at her, but she didn't let it get to her, for she felt she deserved it given what happened previously. However, she felt she could at least try to change their minds and even if she couldn't she'd have no regrets at least,. and she was prepared to give it her all rather than give up and accept things as they were. Meanwhile Terry and Ace stared down one another and roared ferociously, as they were raring to go at it tooth to claw with each other! While Terry looked forward to putting Ace in his place as before, the carnotaurus intended to break his losing streak against Terry one on one, and today was that day he swore.
Seeing both dinosaurs present on both sides of the field, glaring at one another and exchange fierce snarls and hisses at each other, the MC knew it would be rude to keep the crowds waiting or to force the dinosaurs to hold in their battle instincts given this place was where they could unleash their power to the fullest. "Well folks, now with our contestants' exchange of words out of the way," He held out his arm before giving the signal! "Go time warp!"
Light enveloped the 2 duelists and their partners and as it died down the field took the form of a plain surrounded by a small grove of trees with a large cliff at the back with a waterfall roaring down into a large lake below, which Rex recognised as the field they battled alongside Torosaurus against the Alpha Gang back in Africa.
"Come on Rex, don't get careless now." Max thought to himself as he sweated seeing both combatants and their dinos stare down one another.
"This is still Ursula though right?" Zoe asked hopefully, "I mean we've known her for a really long time and we also know she's…you know….herself…." Looking back not only was she wacky and had a short fuse, like Zander and Ed she was easily impressionable and fooled, not to mention really vain too, which detracts the threat she posed.
"True," Cera nodded understandingly, but there was no excuse to throw caution to the wind, "Still Rex better not be careless. After all fire does beat wind don't forget that." She said which made Max and Zoe rather uneasy when she put it like that.
"Even if it weren't about type matchups we can't forget the power Terry does have as well…." Zoe then recalled the last few times before how powerful Terry was, there was no question about that.
"Y….Yeah…." Max had to agree, while there were times Ursula couldn't use him effectively there were also times she did so Rex and Ace had better keep on their toes at all times. Plus the both of them also had major rage issues too as made evident last round, if their rage were to synchronise and they truly fought as one like that…..no way could anyone win against that…..
As Rex and Ace glared hard towards their rivals, Terry snarled back at them viciously as he and Ace began to circle one another looking for an opening to exploit. Seeing the hostility aimed at her, Ursula frowned a little but decided to accept it since she pretty much deserved it given what happened earlier, but she preferred not to dwell on the past too much now as she then spoke up, "Well now, let's have a good clean fight shall we?" She then said trying to sound as polite as she could and hope that this fight would be one everyone can be happy with, determined not to replay the events from before.
No one was more bewildered and shocked beyond belief to hear her say such forbidden words…..than Dr Z himself, "WHAT!? Good!? Clean!? I can't believe my ears!" He screamed widening his eyes as they nearly bulged out of his sockets and even restarted to pulling on his beard and slapping himself believing this was a horrible nightmare to wake up from! But after a few self aimed knuckled sandwiches and recovering from them, Dr Z saw it was no dream but a living nightmare, as he teared up in sadness, "Everything I did to raise my kids to be the most diabolical and despicable henchmen ever….oh where did I go wrong!? Ugh….." Suddenly he felt his heart ache deep inside of him, turning pale as his heart erupted out of control in a seizure before his eyes rolled into the back of his eyes before fainting on the ground, foaming at the mouth.
Rex squinted his eyes in response to her outrageous claims finding them hard to believe, "Clean? That's the last thing I'd expect from the Alpha Gang of all people….." He muttered, to say he was sceptical would be putting it lightly, "Just what is she up to?" He wondered raising an eyebrow, confused as to why his instincts weren't telling him she was trying to deceive him or have some sort of ulterior motive. Realising contemplating will get him nowhere he shook his head deciding to focus on the now, "There's no way I'm going to let her psyche me out! Gotta make the first move and get the drop on her when she least expects it!" He told himself firmly as he thrusted out his hand, "Alright Ace! Go in and strike hard!" The carnotaurus roared out a battlecry and rushed forward hoping to both outspeed and outflank the larger theropod who held his ground!
Ursula however didn't feel threatened or bothered in the slightest as she chuckled, "Ho ho ho! Terry, be a dear and show them the folly of their efforts." She chuckled as Terry charged forth and lowered his head! When both carnivores collided it was no contest as to who'd win, as the smaller abelisaur was easily overpowered! It felt as though he collided with a bullet train head on as he was sent back! Ace though had faster reflexes as he managed to dig in his heels and stabilise himself before shaking his head clear from disorientation.
Rex narrowed his eyes, it was clear Terry was the more experienced fighter here, which meant he'd have to fight with strategy now, "Try and flank him!" he called out to Ace hoping to get around him instead hoping that Terry wouldn't be able to respond in time. Ace nodded and rushed in, this time making a wide turn around Terry to aim at his vulnerable flanks.
Ursula then wagged her finger playfully at him seeing what they were attempting to do, "Naughty! Naughty! Can't have that now can we?" Turning her eye to the t-rex who made eye contact with her, "Terry, do it now." He snorted a little in annoyance but obeyed her instructions as they planned, though to him he much rather bite first and ask later since he prefers the more direct approach to get things over with fast.
As Ace came around attempting to leap up and bite at Terry's thigh, he misjudged they tyrannosaurus' manoeuvrability, who spun and turned, using his head like a sledge hammer he avoided Ace's flanking move and sent him flying across the ground with tremendous force and to Rex's alarm!
"AH!" He gasped in alarm along with his friends and everyone else too.
"No way!" Max and Zoe both widened their eyes.
Cera narrowed her eyes seriously, "Didn't see that coming…." Being an expert duelist herself it wasn't easy to surprise her, the fact Ursula managed to do it of all people was a real eye opener for her and others too like Lunensis and the captains.
"What incredible reaction speed! We're seeing a whole new Ursula here and now folks!" The MC announced in amazement himself as the crowds gasped in awe and surprise themselves.
Dr Owen blushed red, feeling as though he were falling in love with her all over again, as if both his heart and soul were on fire now! But seeing Rex losing, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "You can do it my boy!" before wincing with inner pain as he grasped his head in conflict, "But then again….My lovely Ursula….GARGH! Why must the world be so cruel!?" He screamed in agony to himself requiring Patrick to pat him on the back. For no matter whom he roots for, one will still lose and he couldn't bring himself to look at their face again for not supporting them. With no other way around it, "Oh heck! I'll cheer them both on! Win this!" He cried out shoving Patrick aside and he began shouting out generic cheers that weren't so focused or direct so no matter who came out on top he could still save face….much to Patrick's dismay as he sighed pityingly.
"Oh señor….When will you ever learn…."
Nearby Dr Ancient put a finger to his chin in thought, "This isn't like Ursula at all, normally she'd charge in first without a plan and just get it over with with minimal effort and as quick as possible."
"Yeah so she can go do her nails or search up the latest trends…." Cretacia shrugged her shoulders before leaning in for a closer look, "Here she's actually….taking her match seriously and committing fully to it?" She found it hardly in the old lady's nature to do something like that out even be capable of doing so, she thought she knew all she needed to about them given their history together but apparently even scientists like her still have much to learn and experience. Still she felt she wouldn't be able to live it down if her boy lost to the A Team of all people, plus not to mention the endless bragging by Dr Z it'd make her entire life a living nightmare as she shouted out, "Come on Rex! You can still make a comeback! Don't you dare lose to Ursula of all people!" She screamed.
"She's fighting with a degree of elegance and purity….it's almost…remarkable…." Marina admitted seeing Terry's near fluid movements made with clear intention too.
"Think she's trying to copy you?" Blaze snickered which made her pout at him, "They do say imitation is a form of flattery after all."
Marina however scoffed feeling offended at her husband's words, "Hmph, well I find it more of an insult if she's trying to steal my style…."
Meanwhile Ace lay down on the ground still rather dazed after being hit head on by Terry, as he slowly started to come to he groaned in pain while on his back struggling to kick himself back up, as Terry strided closer and closer to him with each passing second! Rex widened his eyes and his heart raced non stop, "Ace! Quick! Get up before Terry gets hold of you!" He cried out desperately for his partner to respond.
Ursula chuckled snobbishly believing it was all for naught, "Hee hee hee! We have you now!" She giggled sinisterly as Terry made it to where he was and turned around, opening his massive jaws widely and ready to snap shut on Ace's unprotected stomach!
As everyone widened their eyes and gasped, others looking away in fear, Rex cried out desperately, "ACE!" Hearing the blond boy's voice in time, the carnotaurus awoke in time to see Terry about to make a meal of him! Thankfully he responded with a well place kick to the rex's chin making him stumble back for a brief moment!
"Tch!" Ursula clicked her tongue in annoyance before yelling out, "Terry! Don't let him get away with that!" She cheered as the tyrannosaurus' eyes turned feral and he roared out in rage as he charged at Ace, who managed to kick himself back up in time and side step the tyrant's giant jaws with his long legs just in time as they snap shut!
"Alright!" Rex cheered to Ursula's annoyance and everyone's relief, "Now counter attack!" he quickly ordered as Terry swiped out with his massive tail, Ace was able to leap over it in time and landing gracefully with the agility of a large cat before turning quickly around and swiping his own tail out at Terry's face! The strike was direct and made contact, knocking the rex off balance! "Alright!" Rex pumped up his arm as the others cheered at his successful hit! Unfortunately it wasn't anything to celebrate as the moment didn't last long. Terry quickly absorbed the blow and regained his balance and then glaring back at Ace enraged for his insolence! Letting out a roar in anger it shocked Rex as he stepped back in alarm!
"AH!"
Ursula grinned before covering her mouth to hold in her laughter, "Hee hee, are you trying to tickle me? Because if not then you'll have to be way better than that!" She taunted him as Terry lunged at Ace once more, who managed to dodge in time once again, making the old lady scowl with annoyance.
"Phew….That was close…." Rex wiped some sweat from his brow but he couldn't afford to rest on his laurels yet as he and Ace looked ahead to see their opponents still had them cornered.
At the side stands the D Team watched on with worry, "I never thought I'd feel worried about a battle with that old lady…." Zoe sweated nervously seeing how badly Rex and Ace were getting cornered.
Max gritted his teeth angrily with annoyance, "Yeah, Rex shouldn't be struggling this badly at all…." He grunted, after all their battles with the Alpha Gang there's just no way they could be losing this badly, just what was going on here?
Cera narrowed her eyes, "Ace is falling behind, and he's already at a disadvantage in size and strength…." She mused putting a finger to her chin in thought, "But winning isn't always about brawn, not if you use strategy….." And knowing Rex he was quick on his feet even in the most pressuring of times, always calmly assessing the situation and not giving into worry so she was quite confident in him still.
"Yeah…." Max nodded agreeing with her, "I'm sure Rex and Ace trump Ursula and Terry in speed and smarts." He added with a confident smile while pumping up his arm.
Zoe nodded, "Let's hope they'll be enough for him to score a win." she said with concern as his loved ones all looked on hoping for the best.
Meanwhile, Rex as Cera predicted calmly assessed the situation despite being cornered as he hardened himself, "Ace, I think we may have taken this battle a little too lightly, maybe it's time we took this for real now." He told the carno, who responded with a nod in agreement, seeing it may be time they tried a different approach and change tactics. Terry roared out impatient and annoyed with their games as he stomped towards them, with only one thing on his mind, grabbing his opponent in his jaws and ending it there and then! Rex and Ace both knew if that were to happen it'd be the end of them, no way could they let that happen!
"Get out of the way!" He yelled as Ace darted out of Terry's path as he smashed through some nearby rocks before groaning in annoyance and having to shake his head clear of the dust around him. This gave Rex an opening he could exploit, "Now strike!" He then called out to Ace who roared out lowered his head and charged in like a battering ram to Terry's leg! Striking him at the knee it made the red tyrannosaurus roar out in pain as he was unsteadied by the blow to one of his weak points! The t-rex roared and tried to crush him underfoot but Ace leapt backwards avoiding the foot in time!
"Ace manages to avoid attack after attack while dealing in damage himself!" The MC called out, as each close shave and near miss had everyone jump, made their heart skip a beat or lean forward unblinkingly as they couldn't take their eyes off even for a second! "Though getting up close like that, even with much better agility that's still an all or nothing strategy! One mistake and it could be game over!"
Ursula gritted her teeth in annoyance just as much as Terry was, "You're trying my patience…." Her eyes twitched slightly but she still managed to hold herself together.
Rex noticed this though as tempting as it was to rile up Ursula and get her to make a mistake, it would be equally as dangerous if he were to cross the line which would be easy regarding her, so he rather not risk playing with fire for the time being. Seeing Terry trying to reposition himself, Ace narrowed his eyes as he zeroed in on his target as Rex called out, "Go in Ace! Go for the legs!" Ace roared as he darted in, surprising Terry and making the audience gasped as he got in so close he snapped at Terry's ankle and tugged in, his teeth raking at the giant's foot scales angering the tyrant!
He retaliated by trying to bring the hammer down with his head, only for Ace to flank him as he slammed his head on the ground, with the carnotaurus capitalising on it by swinging his tail out and landing a direct strike at Terry's ankles which made him more angered and in pain as he felt his joints being weakened! This continued on for a little while with strike and retreat, with each reflex by Terry easily anticipated and then moving in to strike the opposite leg, or even doing some mock charged to bait Terry to attack before he went in for the foot, ankle, knee or thigh in turn!
"Huh? Why is Rex targeting Terry's legs?" Max wondered scratching his head curiously.
"Yeah, what could he be planning!" Zoe mused just as curious, in a battle normally one would target the head or whatever vulnerable spot they could see, the legs wouldn't really be at the top of said list in their book though.
Cera however could see where he was going with this as she quickly widened her eyes, "I see! I get it now!" She gasped patting her fist into an open palm which made her friends look to her in surprise.
"You do Cera?"
She nodded back at Max, "Mhmm, as strong as Terry is, his strength comes from his powerful legs." She explained before looking back at the battle, "If Rex is able to weaken them enough, Terry won't be able to support himself nor move as efficiently."
Max and Zoe both widened their eyes in surprise before smiling back at Rex, "AH! So that's his game plan!"
"That's Rex for you!" They felt more reassured in Rex's chances now, given he was always calm and collected, not to mention planning well to see in the long term too.
At the battle Rex had managed to keep pressuring Terry by baiting him to attack and then striking his weak points or vulnerable areas, despite the T-Rex's immense stamina and strength even he had his weaknesses and limitations too, with his stamina drained with every failed attack and his legs being struck repeatedly in multiple spots consecutively. Rex smirked seeing his plan coming together, "That's it, if we can keep this up, no way will Terry be able to get us anytime soon." He thought to himself as Ace too was focused on the very same thing as he evaded another of Terry's bites, "Plus we'll agitate and exhaust him, make him waste energy that's when we'll make our move!" He smirked believing Ursula hadn't caught onto his plan yet and it was only a matter of time now.
Unfortunately his optimism was short lived as Ursula facepalmed, "Sigh honestly…."
Rex blinked his eyes in surprise, "Huh?"
She then scowled at him with offence which caught him off guard, "Why is it you're trying to waste my time with these amateurish moves?" It was then she smirked rather sinisterly, "Could you be trying to draw out this match and stall me? Hmm?"
"Err…well…." Rex scratched the back of his head unable to respond to her, he didn't expect that she would be onto him already or even realise it, a fact which caught everyone by surprise!
"It wasn't that hard you know, though I don't blame you for resorting to such a cheap predictable tactic," She said, "But then again it's only so long your dino can keep up this charade compared to mine." Looking to Terry, she spoke to him, "Terry, hold back for now and don't let him bait you into wasting your energy chasing after him." Terry was annoyed having to follow careful instructions, for it went against his very own code to restrain his own violent nature, then again he wasn't getting anywhere with the battle the way things were right now, so with a begrudging snort he obeyed and held back, thus rendering Rex's entire strategy now useless!
Rex gritted his teeth in annoyance as Ace returned to his side, panting with exhaustion himself after all the dashing he did. Seeing that Ursula and Terry weren't going to be baited that easily anymore, they were getting stronger and smarter, not the greatest combination to face, "Urgh this isn't working, we're gonna need another approach Ace…." He grunted before reaching into his pocket to pick out a certain move card he was saving as his secret weapon, narrowing his eyes at it as he felt some mild hesitation in using it not just because it was powerful but he didn't want to be underhanded, "Shall we?" Thinking it over he then decided against it and shook his head, "No, not yet, I'll save this for later."
"If you have time to stare into space then surely you'll have time to actually fight!" Ursula then yelled interrupting his thoughts.
"Tch!" He clicked his tongue in frustration, looking forward to giving her a taste of her own medicine. He was real tempted to use it now, till he realised something, "Wait a sec….Terry's a large carnivorous dinosaur just like…." He recalled back to the time at the Great Wall of China back when they battled carcharodontosaurus. He then brightened up realising it, "Yeah, maybe that can work here too!" He cheered up before narrowing his eyes with Ace crouching down readying for just the right moment as he was, "Just have to wait for the right moment and get her to attack us….." It was risky but no doubt worth it, "Ace! Get in and kick out now!" He yelled commanding Ace to dash in head on, surprising Terry at how fast he came up close to him, before doing a backwards somersault and kicking out from under his jaw and causing him to stagger back and groan!
"Grr! Alright, you've had your fun but it's time I had mine!" Ursula growled angrily as she slashed her move! "Volcano burst!" Terry flashed red and roared as he gathered fire in his jaws and was ready to let it loose!
"This could be it! A fire move at last! Should it land it'll deal big time damage to Ace!" The MC called out which began stirring up worry and anticipation for everyone watching!
"Rex!"
"Watch out!"
"AH!"
"I can't watch!" His family, friends and fans all cried out as Terry spun his head around and prepared to fire it through the ground at Ace!
Back at his village, Kaze narrowed eyes seeing what may be a fire dinosaur's strongest weapon but at the same time…..its greatest vulnerability. He could see it clear as day, and soon smirked as he saw it was then that Rex seized his chance, "Now Ace!" He called out spurring his carnotaurus to get ready as he roared outing acknowledgement! "Cyclone!" Ace summoned forth a tornado from the sky which enshrouded him as he charged forth! Mustering all the strength he had before Terry could fire, he launched himself at the tyrannosaurus' throat causing him to stumble back and choke on his fire as hie groaned in pain before collapsing to the ground to everyone's surprise!
"What!?" Ursula widened her eyes in alarm.
"WHOA! Look at that!" Zoe was amazed by Rex's impeccable timing and skilful strike right when Terry least expected it and when it most hurts!
"It's like back in China!" Max called out in realisation.
Cera winced at the sight of it, "Oooh….that's gotta hurt real bad…." she said, while impressed with Rex's strategy she was equally feeling sorry for Terry, choking on one's own fire wouldn't be a very fun experience at all.
Everyone widened their eyes at Ace's unexpected and skilful counter attack, "Incredible precision and split second timing! Striking the opponent right when they were about to make their move, when the window of opportunity was on the verge of closing too! Rex has demonstrated skill that rivals even that of Kaze!" The MC then announced, as Kaze back home in his village as he watched on his dinoshot he smirked with satisfaction at Rex's move, a feat worthy of a ninja as the young boy was showing signs of both maturity and skill.
As Terry groaned in pain while lying down on the ground, Ursula squealed in shock before glaring at Rex, "Hey that hurt! What do you think you're doing you little brat!?"
"I'm trying to win that's what!" Rex retorted, "By playing smart to be more precise from now on." He thought to himself calmly as Ace roared out feeling triumphant, if this went like how it did in China they could have this battle in the bag soon enough.
Unfortunately for them, that was mere wishful thinking, "Tch! I see what you're up to, but it'll take a lot more than that to take me and Terry out!" Ursula growled in anger, as Terry opened up his eyes enraged beyond belief as he stomped his foot on the ground stood up again and let out a thunderous roar which shook the land around them!
"WHA!?" Rex and his friends couldn't believe their eyes.
"He withstood that!?"
"No way….." To be choked on fire and right in the weak point had to deal critical damage but to handle it well was beyond her
Lunensis too-He knew about dino weaknesses too both elemental and physical but to see a dino recover well from a physical weak spot like that was something he never expected
"Oh my darling Ursula! I think I'm falling in love with you all over again!"
"I'm starting feel sorry for Master Rex now…." Not just for battle but fickle hearted support
"Mhmm…." Patrick both nodded in agreement with the Android feeling just as bad for the young boy. His foster father's faith was even more fickle than a woman's heart.
Rex sweated nevoursly now with Ace stepping back with caution while Terry took a step forward with rage, throwing caution to the wind and desiring nothing else but to sink his teeth into Ace's hide and rip him to pieces! "I have to admit that was a rather clever move you made." Ursula then breathed calmly but maintaining a hard grumpy scowl, "Sneaky and underhanded, but clever." She thought, still she pulled off way worse underhanded stunts before so who was she to judge others? It was then she grinned with confidence and a hint of sadism behind it, "In fact how about we return you the favour for that attack just now!" Terry growled in agreement as they both nodded at one another.
He rushed towards Ace roaring fiercely at him, which the carnotaurus assumed to be an intimidation, but instead he held his ground anticipating another bite like before and one he was prepared to dodge. To his surprise, Terry mustered all the energy in his legs and launched himself over the carnotaurus instead!
"AH!" Rex gasped in surprise as he and Ace were stunned speechlessly as Terry landed right behind Ace, they never imagined a massive carnivore like him being capable of such agility, unaware they left themselves wide open.
Ursula smirked seizing the chance she was given as she slashed a move, "Now! Neck crusher!"
"Ace no! Run!" Rex's warning came too late as Terry turned around and flipped the smaller carnivore into the air before he could run, before spinning around and using his tail to swat the helpless carno into the lake at the waterfall!
SPLASH!
"ACE!"
"No!" The D Team cried out for him, as he sank beneath the water and everyone else looked on in shock and disbelief.
"This is bad….." Spike tensed gritting his teeth seeing Rex's chances were diminishing quickly.
"Oh dear….." Cretacia recalled seeing Ace was exhausted and drenched last time when she found him, so it was safe to assume he almost drowned before being saved….and after hearing from Rex about Ace's hydrophobia, this was a worse case scenario for him and his partner….
At the Hospital Room the Alpha Gang looked on stunned by what they just saw, both by Ursula's quick thinking as well as what may be her going too far…."Man, that's just low…." Ed gulped understandingly seeing he could relate to how Ace felt given he didn't know how to swim himself.
"Normally I enjoy taking the underhanded route….but this time I just can't seem to enjoy it…." Zander sweated feeling immense guilt deep inside him welling up.
Everyone watched on with worry seeing Ace hadn't resurfaced yet, "D…Do you think Ace is still afraid of water?" Zoe asked Cera with worry, her red haired friend tightened her grip on her knees and stared hard and waited with anticipation.
"I don't know…..I hope not…." She gulped, remembering back at the cruise ship before how he managed to conquer his fear of water….but since then he hadn't been exposed to water in such huge amounts like this so she wasn't sure if he was completely over his fear yet. All they could do now was hope for the best…..
Ace still showed no signs of surfacing as the bubbles beneath the surface began to slow down, everyone was holding their breath and at the edge of their seats, some of them even dreading the worst had happened….
The MC was about to make a call, when suddenly leaping out of the water and back onto the field was Ace! He emerged deeply soaked but still standing strong and unfazed as he let out a powerful roar to the masses to show them all he was alright, filling the crowds with mixed feelings of relief, joy and excitement to see he was back in the game! And best of all to Rex he wasn't showing any signs of fear or worry anymore! Rex widened his eyes realising that, "AH! Ace!" He gasped seeing his partner appear from the water but also unbothered by the fact he was cold and wet! It filled him with joy and motivation to see his partner not only fine but having overcome his past trauma altogether at last!
"He's alright!"
"Yes!" His friends and family cheered happily for his wellbeing.
"So he's gotten over his fear of water…." Cera smiled happy to see the growth and how far Ace had come along with Rex, they truly were like reflections of each other one way or another, "Good for him."
Rex who smiled with immense relief that his partner is no longer scared or going to run away from his fears anymore but will now on face them head on. After that he shot a furious glare towards Ursula, "That was a dirty move old lady! I should have known you'd try pulling a stunt like that!" He yelled.
"Yeah! You tell her Rex!" Max and Zoe both cheered him on and punching out too. Many others cheered for Rex encouraging him for fighting back while others booed Ursula with disdain, wanting her out of the arena.
As tempting as it was for Cera to join in and support her friends and everyone else…she didn't want to jump to any conclusions, while she was usually suspicious of the A Team pulling such devious tricks, she didn't sense any bad intent during that attack which deeply puzzled her since normally she could real the situation very clearly like an open book but this time she couldn't get anything, much like looking through a frosted window where it seemed like something happened but it could also be something different too. For the time being she chose to remain neutral and just keep a careful watch, if Ursula did try something for real she'd see it.
In response to the harsh criticisms she received, Ursula merely closed her eyes and scoffed, "Hmph, I wasn't trying to, it was just a coincidence your dinosaur fell in that direction I assure you." She huffed narrowing her eyes towards Rex, "Not that I expect you to believe me or not." She said in an uncaring tone, since knew her own feelings clearly and that was good enough for her. Though a part of her felt regret at not being able to change their opinions of her and her attempt only soured things more so between them.
"Tch! We'll get you back for that!" Rex clicked his tongue vowing to not let Ursula get away with it, "In fact…." Eying the lake behind them, he smirked seeing an opportunity. He hesitated a little at first but decided to trust his instincts and in Ace, as he called out, "Ace, get into the water! I've got an idea!" Ace growled in surprise at his words.
Everyone including Ursula, couldn't believe their ears at what they just heard, "Huh!?"
"Get INTO the water!?"
"What could he be planning!?" They couldn't understand why Rex would force Ace back into the water after working so hard just to get out in the first place. Others thought he was either crazy or just lost his mind.
As Ace looked into his eyes and they met it was as though they communicated with one another via thought. Nodding at his partner, Ace roared as he made a leap into the pool once more as Ursula and Terry did nothing but observed to see what they were planning.
"Heh, this should be good." Craig grinned interested in seeing where this would go.
"I sure hope he knows what he's doing…." Zoe gulped nervously while Max tensed and sweated in anticipation. Cera on the other hand had suspicions that Rex was coming up with something so she narrowed her eyes and watched to see where it would go.
It was there that Rex saw his plan come together as he slashed his move, "Go! Biting wind!" Ace blew out a small whirlwind before him which sucked up the water from the lake into a mini hurricane, before slashing out with his tail at it sending waves of wind and water towards Terry! They came in so fast the tyrannosaurus couldn't react in time as he got slashed by the water wind blades which made him roar in pain as they even sent him flying back through some rocks to Ursula's alarm!
"WAAAH!?" She screamed in terror while everyone gasped in amazement!
"Incredible! Rex and Ace have created a water and wind fusion move using their environmental surroundings! What a stunning development!" The MC called out with energy in every fibre of his being.
"Hehehe, this should open up new tactics and strategies to use…." Raina recorded quickly seeing a new array of strategies to use in the future.
"Such beauty….." Marina gasped in amazement as she never thought of a fusion move being made with the environment itself like that being possible.
"WOW!" The Alpha kids cheered at spectacle.
"My my! How unexpected!" Jonathan gasped with his logic circuits baffled.
"Amazing…." Dr Ancient though was more reserved as he folded his arms and smiled with approval, "You never cease to amaze us my son…." He always knew his boy was destined for greatness the day he was born in the dinosaur era, but to really build such a greta connection with them and take them along with humans to such heights that they never thought possible while courageously braving danger and overcoming impossible challenges time and again….nothing could make him prouder, a sentiment shared by Dr Owen and Cretacia as they looked on to see how much further their son and his friends will go from here on out.
Terry meanwhile, though shaken by the unexpected attack, opened his eyes in anger and kicked himself back up in defiance, vowing to avenge himself for this humiliation. No way was he about to let that pipsqueak scavenger trump his place on the food chain as he roared out ferociously his way! "What a bad bad boy! That's no way to treat a lady!" Ursula yelled out angrily at Rex for disrespecting her and for what he did to her partner.
"You're no lady Ursula! An old one maybe!" Rex retorted.
"Oooh! Get wrecked lady!"
"You tell her Rex!" The audience cried out approving of Rex's sick burn of Ursula, which was ironic given she was a user of fire. Many jeers and snickers followed after that and even made his friends and family giggle or laugh at his good choice of comedy….in fact even the Alpha family back home found it hard to not laugh at his joke despite supporting Ursula in a way….
The only who was unamused by Rex's joke, was Ursula herself as she gritted her teeth and began to turn red with rage, "Grrr," She growled clenching her hand into a fist as a vein bulged from it and several tic marks appeared across her forehead. She had tried her best but even with her newfound self restraint she still had her limits and she was already reaching hers'! She felt like a nuclear power station achieving critical levels and was about to explode at any second with just the slightest touch to trigger meltdown! "I've been trying to be patient all this while, but you're being very rude and disrespectful right now!" She hissed under her breath before pointing out at Rex declaring war! "It seems I'll have to teach you some manners and put you in your place!" Terry roared fiercely as his rage and hers' synchronised together, which suit everyone on edge as families huddled together or others braced themselves with protective head gear, others even attempting a beeline for the exit!
Despite that, Rex held fast with Ace as they courageously stood firm together too, "You can try old lady but like always you'll gonna fail!" Rex declared himself as Ace roared standing by his side against Terry! "Let's go! Sonic Blast!" Ace shrieked as he gathered up win in his jaws and fired out a spiralling tornado towards his opponents!
Ursula gritted her teeth and stomped her foot on the ground, "Alright, it seems I'll really have to put my foot down here!" Still maintaining self control of herself, as she slashed, "Magma blaster!" Terry stomped his foot on the ground and blasted a powerful stream of fire from his jaws which collided with the tornado! The attacks remained at a stalemate initially with cinders being blown in the wind, till the winds whipped up the flames even more, strengthening them till they began to overpower Ace's blast!
"WAH!" Rex and Ace were taken aback by this.
"Rex! Run!" Ancient called out to his son.
"I can't watch!" Cretacia covered her eyes while everyone else tensed up seeing the attack close in!
"Hold me Ed!"
"I'm here for you Zander!" The dimwitted duo hugged one another back at the emergency room as their family watched on with worry on what will happen now!
Back on the battlefield, Ace stared in fear, frozen in place despite the immense magma stream fired at him while also becoming fearful of the raw power Terry possessed. Rex gritted his teeth tensely feeling overwhelmed just as his partner was! He then shook his head clear and cried out in the nick of time, "Get out of there Ace!" His words managed to snap Ace out of it and at the last crucial moment he darted out of magma blaster's path in time as it seared a blazing path all the way to the waterfall where it made contact causing huge levels of steam to rise up as the waterfall collapsed down from the explosion and the heat made the water dry up completely! Rex clicked his tongue knowing that if they hadn't evaded in time Ace would have been buried underneath all that rubble by now.
"Phew…."
"That was too close….."
Up above Cretacia placed a hand to her chest as she swallowed down and let out a deep sigh of relief, "Rex and Ace really have to stop doing that, it's giving me a heart attack…." She breathed uneasily as Ancient patted her gently on the back while the others looked one tensely, seeing that Playtime was now over and it's here where Rex needed to be on his toes the most.
"A miraculous escape for Ace! Had it been a second slower we could have seen an early and easy victory for Ursula and Terry!" The MC called out.
"She's good…." Cera whistled admittedly, she never expected to see this kind of pure fighting spirit from the old lady in the slightest, not once had she believed her expectations of the Alpha Gang to be surpassed in such a way.
"Tch! He can't get too close nor attack effectively from a distance, I never thought Ursula would have him on the ropes this badly…." Craig grunted feeling the pressure that Rex was no doubt feeling right now.
"She's countering every move he makes, she's really limiting his options out there." Raina mused putting a finger to her chin, "Hope Rex is gonna have to find new ones then."
The intense back and forth was having the audience on the edge of their seats once again, but this time with a feeling of immense interest of how it would turn out, as well as inspiration too. As though the danger and hostility they felt from Ursula and the disdain they had towards her was dissipating, making them feel inspired and wanting the battle to continue as they watched on.
Meanwhile, Ursula smirked seeing Rex both cornered and tired, their wind is being sapped from their sails while she and Terry were just getting warmed up.
"Urgh…." He grunted feeling the pressure coming to him, but he refused to quit as Ace stomped his foot on the ground and growled defiantly. Feeling his partner's spirit picking up, "Okay, let's kick this duel into high gear Ace!" Rex called out as he slashed another move, "Mayfly!" Ace stomped his foot on the ground and roared, gathering up wind and building up speed before rushing towards Terry and vanishing in a blur! The tyrannosaurus looked around frantically hoping to pick up where Ace was as the wind gathered around him, which no doubt meant Ace's attack was going to come in real soon!
Ursula however remained unfazed, an instead saw an opportunity to counter attack, "Oh really? Let's see if we can't do something about that." Taking out a fire move she kissed it before slashing, "Here's a little friend called Heat eruption!" Terry roared flashing red as he summoned forth meteors from the sky that began to crash around the battlefield, some of which were heading right in Ace's attack path, forcing Rex to make him pull out, "Dodge it!" He yelled as Ace evaded the meteor in time, as they continued to crash behind, in front or around him, and despite the explosions Ace managed to evade them all quite well.
"Alright!" Rex pumped up his arm seeing the meteor shower had stopped, and now they could focus on Terry himself! Unfortunately, while they were so focused on their surroundings they failed to account for their opponent, who suddenly lunged at them from out of nowhere, his mighty jaws clamping down around Ace's head and stopping him in his tracks!
CHOMP!
"NO!" Rex gasped in alarm at an attack neither he nor Ace saw coming, everyone else too was taken aback by this as they were solely focused on Rex evading the meteors at first like he was…..Till they realised all along those attacks all along weren't to hit Ace but to not only trip up his movement and drive him into a trap instead! The meteor explosions were all directed in a specific pattern which drove Ace right into Terry's strike zone which were where they weren't going to hit given he was the one using the attack himself! They had been too focused on the threats from above he hadn't accounted for the one already in front of him! "I can't believe I didn't realise it sooner!" Rex gritted his teeth in frustration much to Ursula's amusement.
"Hahahah! You fell for it, maybe now you'll see not to underestimate or look down on me." Ursula laughed rather snobbishly at Rex's predicament as he clenched his hand tightly in discomfort!
"Urgh! No…."
"That's just sneaky!" Max growled angrily with Zoe covering her mouth in worry for her friends.
"And yet….clever too….." Cera added after that, even she didn't see that coming.
"Now there's nowhere for you to run, now that we've got you no way we'll ever let go!" Ursula boasted as Terry began to tighten his grip on the smaller predator, who roared an pain as he couldn't pull out nor push forward, for he was held in a way with his movements almost fully restrained making it nearly impossible for him to reverse his situation!
Hearing Ace roar and scream in pain as Terry's teeth sunk deeper into his skin and the pressure building up, Rex tensed up and sweated anxiously, "Ace! You have to break loose or Terry will finish you off!" He cried out desperately to his partner, who began to kick at or scratch Terry's jaw with his foot claws despite still in a vice lock! While ineffective at first, eventually the foot claws managed to deliver a few successful slashes to Terry's cheek and under his jaw, drawing some blood and delivering a couple of slashes, which made the tyranno wince with pain and annoyance!
Ursula gritted her teeth angrily at Rex's resistance, it was like a cornered rat who refused to give up without one last fight, which was so annoying, "Urgh, you want to go that badly. You got your wish!" She yelled out, with Terry following suit as he swung Ace around and threw him against some huge boulders, smashing him through them as he collapsed near the edge of the forest of the battlefield!
"NO! Ace!" Rex cried out seeing he was really hurt now, as he ran to his side.
"AH!" Everyone gasped with worry to see Ace now lying on the ground helplessly, groaning in pain as Terry stomped towards him and then being pinned down underfoot on the neck by the giant carnivore who roared feeling triumphant!
"Ace! Are you okay?" Rex asked with concern. All he got was a low groan, and he felt the ground rumble beneath him as he turned to see their opponents approaching them menacingly!
Ursula then scoffed with an expression mixed with boredom and disappointment, believing her victory obvious at this point and seeing no reason to waste anymore time toying with him, "Hmph, if I drag this out any longer and kept toying with you when you're all helpless, I'd make myself look more like the villain to everyone here again….which is something I don't plan on repeating." She said while also trying to maintain a more humble manner, "Plus this is a tournament after all and as I said it's nothing personal, it's just how things are here, one of us has to lose. And I don't plan on that being me." She said with a light smile deciding to get to the point, though it was fun while it lasted at least and she had no regrets, "So I'll show you mercy and finish you off nice and easy." She then grinned sadistically as Rex gritted his teeth in frustration.
Driven into a corner and with Ace on the ropes now, "Urgh….I'm out of options, there's only way out now….." He thought to himself as he eyed the move card ion his hand, he had saved for situation like this, and now was an emergency more than anything…and yet he still had second thoughts…."I don't know if I should….but…." Hearing Ace groan in pain and at Terry's mercy, Rex finally made his mind clear, "No! Ace needs me and this is the only move that can help him now!" He told himself as he no longer had any doubts, plus in reality sometimes it doesn't pay to be fair….As he reached for the card and prepared to slash it, as Ursula chuckled snobbishly to herself as she prepared for her endgame!
"Hahaha! Bow before my indescribable beauty!" She laughed with pride as Terry grabbed Ace in his jaws and was prepared to crush him in his jaws!
"NO!"
"Rex!"
"This can't be it!"
His loved ones all cried out worrying for him…..just as a bright light shone out from the field right when Rex slashed his move card in time.
Hi everyone sorry it's been so long work's been hectic but here I decided I didn't want to keep you all waiting too long so decided to break this chapter in half, stay tuned for the outcome of this duel!
What move do you think Rex has decided to use? Wait and see. As shown here development from Ace how he no longer fears water but also uses it to his advantage.

Something I like to consider is the reason the dinosaurs may be able to heal or withstand what may be fatal injuries due to the energy from the stones when they were carded or summoned. Because when you see move animations and the battles they fought no way could they do such things in real life right?

Surprised you well? Glad it got you guessing though the next one to come should be obvious but don't expect it to be easy. Still how did you find this match? The outcome surprised you too?
Wonder what ideas you got inspired with and these are something I hope can happen in the real world too.
I don't think Rex has anything to prove but Ursula has redeemed herself….to an extent, being vain and prideful is who she is after all and old habits die real hard. Still she has changed don't worry.

It's always a funny trope to have Zander have all money related matters piled on him, wonder where he gets the cash for it. The final burn is a DS move.
As I said this chapter will bring much development for the Alpha Gang indeed.
