Chapter IV
SpaceGodzilla Crash Site, Tibet, China
Godzilla lumbered down the side of the crater. He followed his senses to this area to confront Atlas, and make sure he knew his place.
What he saw was dazzling. The crystals were growing to create a massive fortress of solid crystals, and in the middle of it was his brother.
But he was different. His dorsal spines had crystallized, and his tail ended in a crystallic trident. His head was decorated with a pulsing crystalline crest, and two massive crystals were mounted on his shoulders.
Whatever he was looking at now, it was not the same Atlas he fought all those years ago.
Godzilla growled to call to him. Atlas turned and smiled evilly, growling to say that he was looking forward to this day. Godzilla sneered and said that Atlas had one chance; accept the status quo, or be soundly defeated. Atlas just chirruped and said that he wouldn't be going down so easily now.
Krystalak and Obsidius appeared at Atlas' sides, ready to fight with their new Alpha, but he told them to stay back. He would fight Godzilla alone this time.
Atlas' confidence annoyed Godzilla, and he charged at his half-brother, his spines glowing a brilliant blue. Atlas did the same, flying at him with the same speed and energy.
The battle began.
Godzilla got the first hit off, throwing a right hook at Atlas, who tanked it the best he could. Atlas retaliated with a knee to Godzilla's stomach, causing him to screech in pain. However, Godzilla wasn't so easily dissuaded.
He spun around quickly and bashed Atlas in the face with his tail. With his opponent distracted, Godzilla tried to attack him with his Atomic Breath, but Atlas' body was protected by an energy shield that deflected the energy in the attack. Enraged, Godzilla took another step forward and grabbed Atlas by the shoulders, and tried another blast. Atlas' neck snapped to the side and Godzilla's Breath ended up hitting the crystal fortress.
In that moment, Godzilla saw the crystals absorb the energy like a sponge. He knew, then and there, that he had to use his body to destroy the crystals.
Then, the energy was redirected to Atlas, who absorbed it and became stronger.
With a mighty blow, Atlas threw Godzilla off of him. However, Godzilla was still as strong as Atlas, and did not fall to the ground. Instead, he roared and charged Atlas again.
Godzilla was still taller than Atlas, but Atlas had an edge with his stockier build. Using his powerful shoulder muscles, Atlas began to push Godzilla across the ground. Godzilla was shocked by this, but was undeterred as his jaws latched onto Atlas' shoulder.
Atlas screamed and tried to pull Godzilla off, but the King's grip held true and refused to let go. He could taste the coppery blood pouring into his mouth.
Atlas finally directed his energy into the wound and struck Godzilla with powerful electricity. Godzilla finally let go, but the moment he was face-to-face with Atlas again, he threw a punch into his brother's face.
The crystalline crest hurt his knuckles, but he could feel it crack under his skin. Sensing this, Atlas screeched and spun around to smack Godzilla with his tail.
Godzilla caught the tail in his teeth and began to pull. He felt the tendons snapping and the muscles tearing as he pulled on Atlas' tail. Atlas screamed yet again and pulled on his tail to try and free it, but this move only worsened his injuries. Instead, Atlas turned and grabbed Godzilla's head to try and pry him off, but the King's grip held true.
Angry beyond belief, Atlas' spines turned red and went up his back until a bolt of red electricity connected with Godzilla's brow.
Godzilla screeched in pain and let go of Atlas' tail. The two Titans had finally become exhausted.
Atlas growled to tell Godzilla that he was willing to call this fight a draw. Godzilla accepted, but he promised that he would return to fight again.
Monarch Base of Operations, Monster Island
"That was brutal," Stanton noted.
"Why did they stop?" Ox asked.
"They're exhausted," Jon answered, his face slightly red from all the serum he had consumed. "They need to recuperate."
"Looks like SpaceGodzilla won't have a problem in that regard," Stanton said. "You see the energy bolts that zapped into his crystals?"
"His crystals absorb energy and convert it into an energy that he can consume," Ox hypothesized. "I'm curious, though. What is the energy that he spat at Godzilla?"
"Looks like electricity," Marcus stated, "but it's red. Why is it red?"
"May not actually be electricity. Electricity is the flow of electrons. Maybe SpaceGodzilla uses the flow of positrons, or 'positricity.'"
"That requires a lot of energy," Stanton said. "More energy than Ghidorah was capable of."
"They need help. This new Godzilla will be dangerous to both our species' survival if he isn't killed."
"How can we help? We don't have any Titan-killing machines."
"We don't need to kill anyone. We just need to destroy the crystals."
"Our mining equipment can help with that."
"And in the event of a Titan attack, it can defend itself quite well."
"Then it's settled. We go to the surface at dawn with M.O.G.U.E.R.A."
