Chapter IX
Yellow Crystal Landing Site, Bangkok, Thailand
The two creatures charged at each other in rage. Rokmutul attempted to ram his thick skull into Anguirus', but the Earth Dragon turned around and slammed his powerful tail club into Rokmutul's head. The six-legged beast screamed as he was sent into a nearby building. He had been fighting with his distant cousin for a long time now, and he was getting tired faster than Anguirus was.
He needed to recharge.
He moved as fast as he could for the giant yellow crystal that had grown out of the ground in the center of Bangkok. He had to make physical contact with it to recharge himself, and Anguirus knew this. The Earth Dragon curled into a ball and rolled as fast as he could to outpace his opponent.
And he did, landing right in front of Rokmutul and stopping him in his tracks. As the six-legged crocodilian slowed to a stop, he saw something next to the crystal.
A machine, huge and birdlike, using its drilling arms to power through the crystal. Each hole was then filled with explosive charges.
Rokmutul knew what it was doing, and roared as it tried to fight past Anguirus, who overpowered the weak Titan and threw him into a building.
M.O.G.U.E.R.A. then turned its head to see the battle going on behind it, and finished the last holes with deadly explosives. With the crystal rigged to blow, the mining machine turned and went to aid Anguirus.
Wuhan, China
Rhedosaurus lumbered through the small city of Wuhan, intent on seeing who the new Alpha was. As he walked, military vehicles unleashed their useless fury at him, trying and failing to kill the giant lizard.
Suddenly, the beast stopped. It turned to see what was holding it in place, and saw a familiar creature.
Battra Tauro had shed her larval exoskeleton and traded it in for her nymphal appearance. Her wings were insufficiently sized for flight, but their shape was perfect for aquatic locomotion. Her elongated labium was clasping Rhedosaurus' tail harshly.
A screech drew the reptile's attention to the front, where Mothra Leo in his own nymphal form was using his wings to charge at his opponent. At the last moment, he leaped into the air and grabbed Rhedosaurus by the snout with his legs.
The Titan roared in anger and tried to pry Leo off, but an energy blast seared his arm and caused him even more pain. Above, Carol Danvers used her energy to keep Rhedosaurus from getting his claws on her charge.
Mothra Leo flashed his wings to blind his opponent, and the close proximity caused the reptile to scream in pain and bring his claws to his face. Thankfully, Leo got off in time for Rhedosaurus to claw himself in the face, causing even more screaming and spilling green blood on the pavement below.
Carol smiled and pressed the attack, burning Rhedosaurus' skin harshly. With the reptile blinded and in serious pain, Battra leaped and drove her bladed legs into his body, piercing several vital organs and spilling even more blood.
In the throes of death, Rhedosaurus unleashed one more loud scream, before falling dead on the road.
Tibetan Plateau, China
Godzilla laid next to Panchen and the slowly healing Dalai. He had been exhausted by his battle with Atlas, too exhausted for even his anger to fuel him.
Godzilla remembered when he was young, and Atlas was still a child. Atlas was energetic and very playful, wanting to be just like Godzilla one day. However, Ishara growled at her son and led him away, where she would brainwash him into thinking that he was the true Alpha, not Godzilla. The action angered Godzilla to no end, and his own family agreed.
Once, Godzilla and Atlas were brothers. Now, they were rivals.
A screeching roar from Monster Island caught his attention. It was Zilla, and he had been injured in a battle with Atlas. Godzilla roared back, asking if Minya was OK.
He was taken by SpaceGodzilla.
Monarch Base of Operations, Monster Island
"Ugh, that was a whopper," Rick groaned as he stood up from his hiding spot.
"Is everyone OK?" Mark asked, helping Ken and Madison stand up.
"I think so. Misi?" Ox asked.
"I'm OK," she replied.
"Something's wrong," Rogers noted. "Where's the little guy?"
Everyone looked outside the broken window and saw what he meant. Zilla was laying on the ground, wounded and screaming, while Minya was nowhere to be seen.
"Guys, Jon's gone," Marcus said as he saw the human-sized hole in the wall.
