Wengie had just arrived to Pewter City. She headed over to the Pokémon Center to take a short rest. Nurse Joy greeted the trainer in her usual professional fashion. Wengie handed over Machop's pokéball to be examined. Nurse Joy ran the standard tests to see if Machop was in perfect health. And to no surprise, Machop was in fit condition. Wengie thanked Nurse Joy for her help and was about to leave the center.
Nurse Joy stopped the trainer as she was about to leave. Nurse Joy pulled out her tablet and showed Wengie the video the young trainer uploaded. Wengie was slightly embarrassed to see the video she uploaded. Nurse Joy went to wish the young trainer the best of luck. Nurse Joy even went as far as to say she was rooting for the young lady to win. Wengie was confused by this at first, but shrugged it off and started to head over to the gym.
Wengie did a little research before she went into the gym. The leader is Flint, a rock type expert. He is not as well known for his strength as he is for focusing on his defense. Machop has the type advantage, but a gym leader knows how to use a weakness into their strength. Wengie was ready to face her challenge as she entered through the door. To her surprise, a younger boy had greeted her instead of Flint.
The young man, Forrest, introduced himself. Wengie asked where the gym leader had gone too and when would he be back. Forrest informed the challenger that the gym leader is at an Indigo League conference at the moment and would not be back until next month. Wengie was disappointed at hearing the news given to her. Forrest then mentioned that he could accept the challenge in the gym leaders place. Wengie was skeptical at this as the boy was much younger than her. Forrest then informed the challenger that he is a qualified substitute gym leader in the event that the gym leader is not present. Wengie then felt at ease and went to challenge the gym.
Forrest asked how many badges the trainer had, and Wengie stated that this was her first gym battle ever. Forrest then decided that the battle should be a one on one. Wengie asked for an ante rule to be in place, as she pulled out her recording device. Forrest had a puzzled expression on his face. Which eventually warped into utter confusion when Wengie put on her outfit.
"Uh, hey. Do you have somewhere I can place this to record our battle?" Wengie asked.
"Uh sure. How about in that corner over there?" Forrest answered, but still wanted to know what was going on.
"Perfect. Ok so I hit record and…action!" Wengie started. "Hello my viewers. I, Wengie the Wonderful Wedgier, am about to challenge this gym leader to an official battle. Now Forrest, I challenge you to a battle. But I want an ante in place. Something simple, like say the loser gets a wedgie." Wengie teased.
"No way. I am not letting you get any chance to give me wedgie!" Forrest protested.
"But if you win, I would be getting the wedgie instead." Wengie reminded.
"Well, uh, I guess if the wager works both ways then I may accept." Forrest blushed.
"Ok then. Let our battle commence!" Wengie called out.
Since Forrest is the gym leader, he had to send out his Pokémon first. He considered his opponent only had a starter Pokémon from the professor and maybe some forest Pokémon too. So he went with his safe choice of Geodude. Wengie was satisfied with this choice and sent out her Machop. Forrest got nervous for a second but regained his confidence to make the first strike. Geodude went for Rollout. Wengie ordered Machop to block the attack, but Geodude proved to be stronger than anticipated. Wengie asked Machop to go for Karate Chop next. Machop rushed over to the rock type Pokémon and went for the striking blow. Geodude was still using Rollout, but this time managed to knock Machop off of his feet.
Wengie knew that the next attack would decide the winner. She was not about to lose her first gym battle. She then thought of a plan that might work out for her. Geodude started to go for its third rollout attempt. Wengie had made Machop wait for the right moment to counter. Geodude was getting close; and at the last second, she ordered Machop to use Seismic Toss. Machop managed to grab a hold of Geodude's arms and stop the attack. Machop hurled the rock Pokémon into the air. Geodude crash landed on its back, knocking it out of the battle. Thus Machop was the winner and Wengie had won their bet.
Forrest tried to persuade Wengie to reconsider their arrangement. Wengie then thought of an interesting compromise. She mentioned that she had video evidence of the battle that took place and had won fair and honest. She threatened to show the League that she was mistreated and have the gym shut down. She never was going to do that, but Forrest did not know that. All he could think of was how his father would be upset if the gym were shut down because of him. Forrest prepared himself for the humiliation and turned around.
"Oh no!" Wengie shook her head.
"What?" Forrest asked.
"Now I don't want to wedgie you. You could not keep your end of the deal until I threatened your gym. Doesn't seem worth it anymore." Wengie sighed.
"So I am not getting a wedgie then?" Forrest tried to hide his gladness.
"I never said all of that now. You are getting a wedgie, just not from me." Wengie clarified.
"I am so lost." Forrest scratched his head.
"I want your Geodude to give you the wedgie instead." Wengie crossed her arms.
Forrest was about to protest the idea, until he remembered what Wengie had on him. So he had decided to face his humiliation and demise. After Geodude was healed, it got into position for what its trainer wanted it to do.
"Well, it looks like this gym leader is the first of many to feel my wrath. Maybe next time you will actual try and win. To my viewers out there, this young boy thought he could beat me without even using his Pokémon's full strength. So I think it should be fitting that he knows what his Pokémon's strength is. Geodude; give this young lad the hardest wedgie you can." Wengie commanded.
"Geo?" Geodude hesitated.
"It's ok Geodude, just do it." Forrest reassured.
With that, Geodude hoisted Forrest up by his briefs. Forrest could almost taste the fabric he was wearing. Wengie was just sitting back recording what she could without dying from laughter. After Geodude bounced Forrest up and down for about several minutes, Wengie had plenty of enough footage to upload. Wengie had commented on how that was more than enough for Geodude to do and stopped recording. Wengie was starting to feel a little sorry for the kid as he started to tear up.
Forrest quickly got himself together and gave Wengie the Boulder Badge as proof of her victory. Wengie was amazed at how Forrest got over the humiliation so quickly. Wengie then proceeded to take off her persona disguise and went to apologize for going to rough on the boy. Forrest brushed it off as mere hazing and said that there was nothing to be sorry for. Wengie then proceeded to ask if it was alright to post the battle and the wedgie on her page, and Forrest did not object to the idea.
"Thank you. Again sorry for going to extreme on you." Wengie stated.
"Eh, it's no big deal. You won and I lost." Forrest shrugged.
"You are not at all upset about this?" Wengie asked.
"No, I was just acting as if it was bothering me…for the camera." Forrest pointed out.
"Oh? Well if it is any consolation, you nearly had me if that Seismic Toss did not work. And it would be me on the receiving end instead. Maybe next time we can battle and see without the video." Wengie chuckled.
"Won't promise it will end the same." Forrest stated as the shook hands.
Wengie was getting ready to leave and head out for her next destination. Forrest was relieved that Wengie did not see through his phony act on not being humiliated. The two of them just kept on going their separate ways as if they knew they would see each other again. Wengie went back to the Pokémon Center to get some rest for the night. She started playing around with the video she had recorded from her gym battle. Only now, she wished her classmate would have joined her to help her figure out how to edit the video.
Just then, a guy started to walk up to her. He looked at the video and was intrigued at what he was viewing. He introduced himself as Cameron Agraffer. Cameron mentioned how he knows how to edit videos; especially action scenes, such as Pokémon battles. Wengie felt a little skeptical at first, but thought the worst was that she does not release the video. Within an hour or so, Cameron showed Wengie what he has edited and Wengie was beyond impressed. She was interested in having him edit future videos, but could not afford to hire a professional editor. She thanked Cameron and started to head to sleep. The next morning, she saw Cameron sitting in the lobby.
"Hey, good morning." Wengie greeted.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Cameron started some small talk
"I slept ok I guess. I just wanted to say that you did an excellent job editing my video." Wengie complimented.
"Well thank you. Glad I could help out." Cameron stated.
"I am sure you have so many projects that keep you busy and whatnot." Wengie said sheepishly.
"Well not really. At the moment, I don't have any work lined up right now. Pewter City is sort of a dead spot for film making, so I don't have any plans right now." Cameron said.
"Oh, well then, if you are not too busy, would you like to travel with me and help me edit my videos?" Wengie asked, and Cameron accepted the offer.
The two of them started to head out of Pewter City and started to head off to their next destination. Wengie looked up where the next closest gym was and it was located in Cerulean City. Cameron looked at the map and saw a short cut through MT. Moon. The two of them started off on to their next location. While on route, Cameron started to ask a few questions.
Simple things, such as where her hometown is and why she wanted to go on a journey. She told him about her village and why she wanted to leave her village. As far as becoming a trainer, she did not have an exact reason to do so. Most of her class had become trainers early on, yet she barely saw them so it was not peer pressure. She guessed it had something to do with doing something different. When Cameron asked her about her video ideas, she had a chipper tone to her.
Wengie just wanted to have fun and saw how tough the battles are and can assume that they will get harder from here. The idea of the videos was to just have fun with battling besides taking them so serious. Cameron had a slight understanding and was interested on how long her enthusiasm would play out. The two of them had reached the entrance to MT. Moon. Both of them took one step into the cave and could barely see. Cameron took out a flash light and guided the way for the time being. They both knew that this was going to be tricky to get out of this cave.
Authors note: Thank you all for reading this. I did not intend on creating Cameron. The idea just popped into my head as I was writing this. Unfortunately, I can only see him as plot filler for now. But, last minute characters are always fun the mess with every now and then, so we will see what happens from her. I hope you guys are looking forward to the next chapter, and I hope you readers have a wonderful day
