Wengie found the library the next day. She started to browse through all different genres' they had to offer. She even found an encyclopedia on the Pokémon found in the region. She noticed that there was a digital disc inside and asked one of the workers what the disc was for. It was an upgrade to the pokedex that could give more detailed advice on Pokémon than the standard model. Wengie was excited about this and decided to purchase the entire book.
After she had bought the book, she immediately upgraded her pokedex with the disc. She started to wander around town to see what it had to offer. Besides the library, there was not much to do in town. Wengie started to head north of town just to look around. She started to see an entrance to a cave. Wengie also heard a faint sound coming from the cave. A small creature started to walk out. Wengie could not identify the creature, but saw it was injured. She picked it up and rushed to the Pokémon Center.
Nurse Joy saw the bruises on the Pokémon and went right to treating it. Wengie asked what kind of Pokémon it was, and Nurse Joy explained. The Pokémon Wengie brought in was the baby form of a Kangaskhan. It is rare to see one without its parent and they are not native to the area either. Nurse Joy explained that there was a storm awhile ago and that might have carried the Pokémon over through strong winds. Nurse Joy went back to treating the Pokémon, so Wengie headed back to the lobby.
It has been a while since Wengie checked her page and her fan base; so might as well check it now. She has received several positive comments on how she handled the Surge situation. While she also saw comments on how she should have posted her defeat wedgie too. She has gotten quite used to the balance of good and bad supporters so the negative ones do not mean as much to her as before since there was nothing else to do in town, Wengie thought of a way to make things interesting for the moment. She got into her persona outfit and started to go live.
"Hello to all of my fans. I am here in Lavender Town just kicking back. I was just thinking that it would be great to see all of you in person and would like to do a Q&A with you guys. No video segment or anything. Just get to know you guys a little more and such. I will be here for a while, so let's say in 4 days the Q&A will begin near the Pokémon Center. I hope to see you guys there." Wengie stopped the live recording after about an hour to see if people will come or if they would not be able to.
Nurse Joy heard the girl with her announcement. She offered a helping hand in the set up. Wengie was grateful for the assistance. They had set up a small stage on the roof so Wengie had some privacy. Nurse Joy had a megaphone on standby so people were able to communicate with her. They even made a sign so the fans knew where to go. Everything was basically set for Wengie to put on a live performance. This was causing her slight anxiety thinking about it. But then again, this was a show from Wengie the Wedgier, not Wengie Melvin; so this was going to be alright for now.
After the set up was done, Nurse Joy went back to check on the baby Kangaskhan. Wengie also went to check up on the baby Pokémon. All of its injuries were fully healed, but the little creature would barely make a sound. Nurse Joy figured that it could have something to do with it missing its mother. Wengie asked where the storm it could have been separated from was at. The nurse explained that Kangaskhan can only be found it an exclusive area right in Fuchsia City. Wengie debated on taking the creature back to its home. But she did feel sorry for the creature.
Several days have passed, and Wengie was looking forward to her first meet and greet event. She still had the baby Kangaskhan on her mind; but she was going to think about that after her event. Nurse Joy had set up a stand for visitors to wait by incase they came early. To Wengie's surprise, there were already several people waiting to see her. Wengie did not want to waste any more time. She headed into the secret path Nurse Joy showed her and got into her costume. She reappeared at the top of the building to greet her fans.
"Hello my Wedgettes. It is nice to meet all of you. Nurse Joy was nice enough to help us make this possible, so everyone say thank you." Wengie started off, as her fans did as they were instructed. "Ok then, who would like to start? Remember, only one question per person so everyone has a chance."
"What made you want to do this?" Someone asked.
"I just wanted to have some fun with Pokémon training, so this just seemed to blend in itself." Wengie answered.
"What inspired you to do what it is you do?"
"I originally saw someone who did the Hokey Slowpoke if they lose. So I put my own spin on things." Wengie stated.
"What is your team looking like and are there other penalties for losing?" Someone asked.
"That is two questions. But I will allow it for now as it kind of goes together. Here are my Pokémon!" Wengie sent out her team. "Machoke is my first Pokémon I started with. He can give the most powerful punches and the meanest wedgies too. Cubone here loves to swing her club, making her the best butt kicker ever; literally. And last but not least, Drowzee here has the power to make you do whatever I want through Hypnosis. But don't you worry, I would not make you do anything illegal, just embarrass you in front of my camera." Wengie taunted.
"Ok then, how about a battle then?" A voice called out.
"Who dares challenge me?" Wengie confronted.
"It's Slowpokey!" A few fans cheered out
"Seems as though you stole my style. Only fair I try and take it back." Slowpokey stated.
"And how do you propose we do that?" Wengie instigated.
"A three on three battle. If I win, you have to do the Hokey Slowpoke. If I lose, then whatever your idea of an ante is I will do." Slowpokey argued.
"Sounds like a deal to me. But let's add something; say, loser has to do their punishment live?" Wengie added and Slowpokey agreed.
The crowd swarmed around the two as they went to send out their first Pokémon. Slowpokey sent out his Slowpoke, while Wengie sent out Cubone. Slowpoke started off with Yawn while Cubone went for Head Butt. Wengie did not have much time as Cubone was starting to feel tired. She went for Bone Club attack and managed to defeat the Slowpoke. Cubone however passed out sleeping shortly after. Slowpokey sent out his Slowbro next. Wengie was prepared for Slowbro to attack, but was shocked to hear what was coming.
Slowbro used a move called Trick Room. Wengie never heard of this move so she was curious as to what it does. Cubone started to wake up, and Wengie went right for the attack. She ordered for a Thunder Punch and Cubone started to run. The problem was that Cubone was moving at an extremely low speed that it looked like she was walking. Slowbro on the other hand had seemed to be faster than before. Slowbro went for a Water Pulse attack and landed the super effective move. Thus, making Cubone unable to battle any further.
Wengie sent out her Machoke next. She was going to need as much power as she could to defeat this opponent. Slowbro was still moving at an increased speed. However, Machoke was moving at that speed too. The surrounding area started to warp. This meant that effects of trick room would be up. Slowpokey just smiled at this as Wengie started to worry. Slowbro went for Thunder Wave and landed its mark. Slowpokey mentioned how speed was his style battling and that there was always to manipulate speed.
Machoke's eyes started to glow white. Slowpokey asked what was going on and this time Wengie was the one smiling. She informed Slowpokey that Machoke has the ability Guts, which powers up Machoke's physical moves when in a status condition; such as paralysis. Wengie went for the move Return. Machoke's arm started to glow a bright pink and swung at Slowbro. Slowpokey was now down to his final Pokémon. He sent out his Slowking. Slowking looked as if it was no prepared for battle, but was instead ready to give a lecture.
Machoke was running as fast as he could to land a Karate Chop on Slowking. Slowking wave a finger in the air and a purple aura surround them both. Machoke no longer had glowing white eyes as they went back to normal. Wengie knew what she was in for when Slowpokey commanded for a Skill Swap attack. Machoke lost its new found strength and was taken down by Water Pulse. Now both sides only had one Pokémon each.
Wengie sent out Drowzee as her final Pokémon. The two of them have never really battled side by side before. So Wengie was nervous for this match. Drowzee sensed the tension and nodded back to Wengie that they will be fine. Wengie gained back her confidence and went straight for the attack. Both Pokémon went for their Confusion attack. They seemed evenly matched, but Slowking did not seem fazed by the collision of moves. It was as if that Slowking was just sizing up Drowzee to see how strong it was.
Slowking went for a barrage of Water Pulse's, so Wengie used Teleport to avoid all of them. Drowzee went behind Slowking to land Hypnosis to put Slowking to sleep. The move worked and Wengie gloated that now she had the upper hand like he did with Slowpoke and Cubone. Drowzee went to go for Dream Eater. Drowzee entered Slowking's dream and was shocked to see what it had seen. Drowzee was petrified from the attack and was unable to make another attack. Slowking woke up shortly after and went right for Water Pulse. Drowzee was knocked out of the battle, so Slowpokey was declared the winner.
"That sure was a fun battle. Maybe we can have a rematch someday?" Slowpokey stated.
"Maybe. A deal is a deal; so how do I do the Hokey Slowpoke?" Wengie honored her word.
"First, let's have Nurse Joy heal our Pokémon." Slowpokey said, as they healed their Pokémon. "I do have to say, you are a tough challenger." He complimented.
"Thank you. But I still lost. I was sure that Dream Eater would have worked." Wengie stated.
"Almost. My Slowking knows how to control its dreams so it used reverse fear when your Drowzee entered the dream." Slowpokey stated.
"I guess that makes sense. How did you manage to control something like that?" Wengie asked, as Slowpokey explained it was from special training from the Saffron City gym.
Wengie was intrigued at the idea of special training by a gym leader. The two of them were about to exit the Pokémon center when Slowpokey sent out his Slowbro. He ordered a last minute Trick Room to slow down Wengie. They had exit the building that was staring at Wengie who was still moving slowly. Slowpokey explained that Wengie was stuck inside Trick Room and would have to do the Hokey Slowpoke just like this.
Wengie tried her best to do it as fast as she could; but the harder she tried, the slower she got. The people around her were laughing hysterically. Wengie got her thoughts together and remembered how Trick Room worked. So she tried to go slower which in turn made her go at a faster pace. After a while, Slowpokey stopped the Trick Room and Wengie fulfilled her end of the deal. Slowpokey headed off to other areas while telling the crowd that she did not steal any style from him and just wanted to have a little fun. Wengie joked to him about an idea that they should work together next time instead of against each other. Slowpokey laughed and said anything is possible for the future as he left.
Wengie finished her meet and greet with the fans. They were excited to see her battle and were looking forward to future events. After the crowd disappeared, Wengie went back into the Pokémon Center and changed back into her regular clothes. Wengie went to check on the baby Pokémon. The creature still would not make a sound. So Wengie decided to talk to it for a little bit.
Wengie started talking about meeting her fans and how she wanted to keep on pushing to do better. She even described her fight to the Pokémon. While also stating that she did not see her loss as a loss. Instead she would always find a new strength in trying harder. The Pokémon was barely listening, but still had an idea on what the human was saying. Wengie mentioned how the Pokémon might be lost and does not know where to go to get back home. Wengie also added that she is going to that area anyway and would be happy to take it along to reunite with its parent. At that statement, the little Pokémon turned around with a smile. Now they were all on their way to their next destination together.
