Around three-thirty, Elizabeth, Nathan, and Allie made it to the train station. Nathan called Lee from the phone there, and then he came back to Allie and Elizabeth. "Lee will be here in twenty minutes." He announced.

"Wonderful." Elizabeth smiled up at him. "Thank you for inviting me. This has been so much fun."

"Any time." Nathan smiled too.

"I don't want it to end."

"It doesn't have to. When we get back, why don't we go for a horseback ride?"

"I have to get back to Little Jack." Elizabeth paused, thinking. "But Rosemary did say they wanted to have him until tonight." A big smile lit up her face. "It'll be perfect. I love it!"

"Then that's what we'll do." Nathan nodded.

Just then, Lee walked around the corner. "Hey guys. Did you have fun?"

"We did." Nathan said.

"The car is just outside. Follow me." Lee led the way through the doors and out to the car. Nathan got in the front with him, and Elizabeth and Allie in the back. "So, what do you have planned for the rest of the day?" He asked as they drove along.

"Elizabeth and I are going to go riding."

"Sounds like fun. Allie, do you want to come home with me? You can eat supper at our house."

"Sure, that'd be fun!" Allie agreed excitedly.

"Are you sure it's not a problem?" Nathan said.

"Not at all. Rosemary and I would love to have her, and then she won't be bored." Lee assured him. When they got back to the line of rowhouses, they all went inside Lee and Rosemary's. It was just about quarter after four. Elizabeth said a quick hello to Little Jack, then she and Nathan left to go riding. As soon as the door closed behind them, Rosemary and Allie turned to each other excitedly.

"Okay, we have a lot to do!" Rosemary exclaimed. "How long do you think they'll go riding for?"

"Uncle Nathan said he wanted to go riding for about an hour, then they would go to the spot where we chose for the picnic." Allie spoke up.

"Alright, so in about thirty minutes, we should leave to set up the picnic stuff and drop you and Jack off there." Rosemary paced back and forth, thinking hard. "Then, when they go for a walk, we'll pick you and Jack up. As the sun is setting, we'll go to the dock to light the candles. Does that sound right? Am I forgetting anything?"

"That sounds good to me." Lee nodded.

Rosemary smiled as she thought of all that was going to happen. "Alright. Allie, do you want to help me make some food?"

"Absolutely." Allie nodded.

"Perfect."

Meanwhile, Elizabeth had changed her clothes and she and Nathan were galloping along the meadow. A little while later, they switched to a gentle canter and rode along, talking.

"Let's go, let's go!" Rosemary urged Lee. "Vivian, Jack, hop in the car. Allie, you right behind me?" Finally, they were all in and Lee drove, heading towards the forest. They made it to the picnic spot and laid down the basket. Then, just as they saw Nathan and Elizabeth come up, Lee, Rosemary, and Vivian hurried away.

"Well, look at this," Nathan said as they drew close to the picnic spot.

"Wow." Elizabeth sighed and smiled. "It's beautiful. Who did all this?" She got off her horse and spotted Allie and Jack. "What are you two doing here?"

"Mr. and Mrs. Coulter dropped us off." Allie replied.

"And I suppose they're the ones who did all this too." Elizabeth guessed with a knowing smile.

Allie just nodded. "Let's eat!" She urged.

"All right." Nathan and Elizabeth laughed together. They enjoyed a wonderful meal, all four of them, talking and just enjoying time all together. A little while later, they heard and saw Lee's car pull up.

"I guess that's our cue to go." Allie smiled and stood up. "Come on Jack." She extended her hand to the little boy, who took it. "See you two later." She smirked at both of them.

"Do you want to stay here for a while?" Nathan asked as the car drove away.

"Sure." Elizabeth responded.

"And then maybe after that, we can close it out with a walk?"

"I like the sound of that. It's so nice and cool underneath the trees." Elizabeth admitted, leaning her head on Nathan's shoulder. "Thank you for everything today. It's been so wonderful."

"It's my pleasure. I enjoy all the time I get to spend with you." Nathan gently kissed her forehead.

They stayed there, quietly talking, for a while as the sun began to slip lower in the sky and the summer heat faded. "Shall we go for our walk now?" Nathan suggested.

"Absolutely." Elizabeth nodded. She sat up straight. "Thank you," she added as Nathan extended his hand to her. "What about all this stuff?"

"Lee and Rosemary assured me that they'd take care of it."

"Alright. Let's go then." They both walked to their horses, then walked along in the forest.

Meanwhile, Lee, Rosemary, Vivian, Allie, and Jack were driving towards the dock. They all got out, except Rosemary, and then Lee began to light the candles on the dock. "Be careful around the candles!" She called to the kids, who were playing close to the dock. The sun was just beginning to set and it made a beautiful background to the pond.

"Alright." Lee stepped back to admire his work. "The candles are lit." He gathered the kids and they all went back to the car to talk to Rosemary. "Sweetheart, I'll go and get the stuff from the forest, and you can stay here with the kids. Does that sound alright?"

"Yes." Rosemary grunted as she tried to get down from the car. "We'll walk to the other side of the pond. Just hurry back. I don't want you to miss this."

"I'll try." He promised, then drove off.

"Come on kids, let's go to the other side of the pond," Rosemary said. She took Vivian's hand and Little Jack immediately grabbed Allie's. They walked around to the other side, where they would be able to see at least the silhouettes of Nathan and Elizabeth.

The two mentioned were walking along, talking quietly together and Nathan was leading them towards the dock. As they stepped out into the meadow, Elizabeth saw the lights. "What's over there?" She asked.

"Shall we go and see?"

"Sure. But we shouldn't stay too long, I don't want Rosemary to keep Jack all night."

"We can stay as long as you want." Nathan assured her.

As they drew close to the dock, Elizabeth's mouth dropped. The candles and banners created a beautiful backdrop to the stunning sunset. "What is this?" She asked quietly. "It's beautiful…" She turned to Nathan, who was behind her. "Did you have something to do with it?" He smiled and shrugged. She stood in the middle and spun around. "Nathan, it's…" her voice trailed off as she stopped in front of him.

He was kneeling down on the wood, a big smile on his face. He reached out and held her hand. "Elizabeth," he began slowly. "I love you. I know I don't often say what I'm thinking, but I love you and I always have. I promise to cherish you and protect you, and I know that I want to spend the rest of my life right here – with you, growing old together. Will you marry me?"

Elizabeth couldn't speak, she just nodded. He slipped the ring onto her finger and then stood up and kissed her. The shouts of Allie and Little Jack drew them apart, but Elizabeth still held onto his arm. Allie gave her a big hug, and Nathan picked up Little Jack. "This is our family." He whispered.

As Elizabeth scanned the other side of the pond, she saw two familiar figures walking towards them, Lee and Rosemary. "Congratulations!" Rosemary burst out right away, giving Elizabeth a huge hug.

"Thank you for everything!" Elizabeth hugged her friend tight, then went back and stood next to Nathan. "You made it all that much better."

"It was my pleasure." Rosemary smiled and tried to wipe away a conspicuous tear. "Pregnant emotions," she chuckled.

"I understand." Elizabeth nodded.

Lee gently squeezed Rosemary's arm. He knew, as well as she did, that it wasn't pregnant emotions. She was so happy for her best friend. "Well, we'd better get going and let you enjoy the rest of your evening." Lee began.

"Of course!" Rosemary jumped back to reality. "Do you want us to take Little Jack?"

"No, we'll take him. Thank you for having him all day, Rosemary."

"It was my pleasure." Rosemary gave Elizabeth one more hug and then, with her hand on Lee's arm, her other hand held Vivian's, they turned and walked back to the car.

"What are you thinking about, sweetheart?" Lee asked later that night after Vivian was asleep.

Rosemary groaned as she shifted to try to get comfortable, then she smiled. "I'm just thinking about Nathan and Elizabeth. Did you see how happy she looked? She was glowing!"

"She was."

"I'm so happy for her. She's been through so much and to see her this happy with Nathan…" Rosemary sighed. "Well, it just makes me so happy too."

"I know, sweetheart." Lee gently pulled her closer. "It makes me happy too."

Rosemary didn't say anything, just leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed. She knew that she was right where she wanted to be, with her wonderful husband, a beautiful child sleeping upstairs, and another one growing inside of her. "I'm happy for me too." She said softly.

"Oh really?" Lee looked over at her and smiled softly.

"Yes. I have you, and Vivian, and this little one. I don't need anything else."

"I love you, Rosemary. You know that, right?" Lee gently kissed her forehead.

"I do. And I love you too."

Sometime later that night, Rosemary sat up. Her back pain had gotten worse, and she felt strange. She sat there, in the dark, listening to Lee's soft breathing beside her, and a giant cramp shot through her lower belly. "Lee," she hit his shoulder.

"What?" He mumbled sleepily.

"I think I'm in labor."

"You're in what?" He sat up straight, now awake.

"I'm in labor. You need to go get Carson, Abigail, and Elizabeth."

"Alright. I'll go right away." He slipped into his clothes, then came back to her.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?"

"Yes. Just get Elizabeth here as fast as you can." She gritted her teeth through another contraction.

"Okay." He kissed her forehead, and then quietly dashed down the stairs. He pounded on Elizabeth's rowhouse door.

She appeared, still half-asleep. "Lee? What's going on?"

"It's Rosemary. She's in labor."

"Alright, I'll be right there."

"Okay. I'm going to go get Carson…and Abigail." Lee swiftly turned and walked back to his car. He got in and drove towards town, trying to ward off the tiredness that came so close to him. He just hoped Rosemary would be okay.
