Chapter 10:

Brycen Man Vs. The Riolu Kid

Location: Virbank City

Yesterday, I was hoping that I would be boarding the boat to Castelia City first thing. But no. I had to see that stupid film first. Well, not stupid per say. You know what I meant.

Suddenly, Hugh ran by me. "What's up?" I yelled.

Hugh didn't even stop, so I chased him. There was only one thing that could make him that desperate.

I followed Hugh to the dock where Roxie was with her father. There were three more figures though, and they were…

"Team Plasma!" I yelled. "What trouble are you up to now?"

"Great," one of them said. "I was told about this brat. Listen kid, stay out of our way if you know what's good for ya!"

"No!" Hugh said. "You stole my Sister's Purrloin!" He looked at me. "Rosa, let's team up. I take down one and you take down the other. Sound like a plan?"

"Yeah!" I said, realizing this was my first time battling a Plasma Grunt. I was shaking a little. "Your days are numbered Plasma!"

"Okay Servine, go!" I shouted.

"Patrat, I choose you!" replied the Grunt. "Use Bide!" Patrat stood its ground.

"Leaf Tornado!" I yelled as Servine span around and fired leaves at Patrat. It was all or nothing; if I didn't take down Patrat the next turn, then it would have took enough damage to beat Servine with a Bide. "Use another Leaf Tornado!" Servine did just that, and it knocked out Patrat.

"PLLAAAASSSMAAA!" the Grunt shouted.

"Our first Plasma victory Servine!" I shouted as we high-fived.

"I took down the other one," Cheren said as his Pidove finished off the other Patrat. "What pushovers."

"No one calls Team Plasma pushovers and gets away with it!" the Grunt I beat said. "Plasma will prevail!" With that, the two Grunts blasted off on jetpacks. This left one more Grunt.

"He has a stolen Pokémon!" Roxie said.

"No, I don't!" the Grunt said, running off. Not cowardly or anything.

"He's heading towards Route 20!" Hugh said. "Let's give chase!"

Location: Route 20

We followed the Grunt to just outside the city.

"You're not going anywhere!" said Roxie. "Whirlipede, Rollout!" She sent out Whirlipede who rolled at high speed into the Grunt. He fell over.

"End of the line!" I said. "Give back the Pokémon!"

"In your dreams," the Grunt shouted. "You'll have to battle for it!"

Rosa Vs. Plasma Grunt M

"Purrloin, go!" shouted the Grunt as he sent out his Purrloin.

"You got this Rosa!" Hugh yelled. "Just them owning a Purrloin makes me so angry."

"Growlithe, go!" I yelled. "Ember!" Growlithe fired a flame at Purrloin, doing half damage. Purrloin was also burned.

"Use Scratch!" Purrloin swiped Growlithe across the face for not a lot. Purrloin continued to feel the burn.

"Another Ember!" I shouted as Growlithe fried the rest of Purrloin's HP.

"PLLLLAAAASSSMAAA!" shouted the Grunt.

"That Pokémon, give it back!" Hugh shouted. "Or answer to my Pignite."

"Okay, fine!" the Grunt shouted. He handed me a Pokéball. "Have the stupid Pokémon, but this is not getting away with things Scott-free. Plasma will prevail." With that, he ran off.

Location: Virbank City

"All's well that ends well eh?" Roxie said.

Roxie's Father came running over. "Thank goodness it's safe. This Pokémon just so happens to be the Riolu that I will use in my gateway to stardom!"

"Daddy!" Roxie yelled. "Please do not follow this! Play your role as the ferry man between Virbank and Castelia. Please." Roxie looked at Hugh. "As for you, I will continue to play my role. After we've seen this apparent hit, I challenge you for the Toxic Badge at my Gym."

Hugh smiled. "You got it. But first, to the Pokéstar Studios!"

Location: Pokéstar Studios

"Amazing!" Hugh said. "An actual movie set! So, where we viewing it?"

I pointed to the Movie Theatre with the Riolu Kid poster on it. "That's where. I really hope I'm wrong. I'm not wishing for the movie to be bad."

When we walked in, we were greeted by a man in a green jumpsuit with a blonde afro. He was with an elderly bald man in a purple tuxedo.

"This is Stu Deeoh," Roxie's father said. He is the owner of the Pokéstar Studios. And this is Scout, his second-hand man."

"Wonderful!" Stu yelled. "At least, I hope. Pleaze be good."

I remembered what went down. "Mr. Deeoh," I said. "Team Plasma stole this, and I retrieved it. It's the Riolu used in this film."

Stu took it of me calmly. He sent out Riolu. "Yes, it looks fine. Impressive Rosa, very impressive. Sorry I can't be more impressed, but the premiere starts in five minutes."

Roxie's Father went over to the stand. "Popcorn on the house!" he said, buying the biggest tub possible. (Considering that it was Movie Theatre popcorn, I dreaded to think about how much it cost).

We all sat down in the seats. I was at least hoping that Roxie's Father had a VIP ticket, being this apparent big shot actor. But instead, we got regular seats. I think Hugh had the unfortunate luck of sitting behind someone with a large hairdo.

"Shh, it's starting," Roxie's Father said excitedly. "Here we go!"

The Pokéstar logo appeared on the screen, then the movie started.

The Evil Brycen Man has taken control of the theme park in Nimbasa City.

"No one can stop me!" shouted Brycen Man.

"Yes, someone can!" shouted Roxie's Father, coming out in a costume that was at least five sizes too small for him. He was also altering his voice to make it sound like a teenager; it didn't work. "I am the Riolu Kid! Brycen Man, you are going down!"

"Oh really?" Brycen Man said.

"I… I'm scared!" Roxie's Father said.

He got out a Pokéball. "I choose Riolu!" That's exactly what he did.

"Pawniard, go!" Brycen Man replied, sending out the Dark Type.

"Okay Riolu, Ice Punch!" Riolu's hand went cold, then it punched Pawniard. It wasn't effective.

"Use Aerial Ace!" Pawniard came back with a dive into Riolu; it was down.

"Bwahahaha! Now, the Unova region will be mine!"

"That was it?" I asked after the credits finished. It seemed I shared that opinion with the audience. "That… that kinda sucked."

"Oh," Roxie's Father said. "I guess you're right."

"Daddy!" Roxie said. "I appreciate you trying to expand your interests, but that doesn't mean you should abandon the big help that you are for Virbank and Castelia! Please, continue being a Sailor."

He nodded. "Okay. My days of stardom was never meant to be."

"Well, better luck next time," Stu said. He looked at me.

"What? You're telling me to…"

Stu nodded. "Why not? You saved Riolu, it's the least we could do!"

"It'll be fun!" Hugh said. "They could even show it tonight! After I win my next Badge, we'll all watch it."

I was quivering. "O-okay. I hope I don't stink."

"Hey," Stu said. "Anything will be better than whatever that was."

Roxie strummed her guitar. "Okay Hugh. To the Gym! Good luck- sorry. I mean, break a leg Rosa!"

Stu Deeoh took me over to the set.

"Thank you, Rosa," he said. "You helped get our main star back. This is the least we can do for you. But you don't have to do it if you feel uncomfortable."

"Uncomfortable?" I said. "No, I'm excited. I've just never done this before."

"We'll show vu the ropes!" Scout said. "Come on, to the set!"

The two took me to a large green screen room where Brycen was waiting in costume.

"Well, that last one was a disaster," he said.

"No need to worry!" I told him. "You have a new Riolu Kid right here! I know Riolu Kid is a boy in the comics, but you can take some creative liberties, can't you?"

Brycen nodded. "Of course. Anything to get that last filming out of our memory. Is there anything we could do?"

"Who am I going up against?" I asked. "The first cut, Riolu Kid had no idea what was going on. So it's best I know what happens."

"Gladly!" Brycen said, sending out Pawniard and a Vullaby. I scanned them with my Pokédex.

Ignoring their injuries, groups attack by sinking the blades that cover their bodies into prey.

"Okay, I've got their Types. Let's try this again!"

Rosa Vs. Brycen

"Riolu, go!" I shouted.

"Go Pawniard!" replied Brycen. "You can never defeat me!"

"Yes, I can, because," I said, striking a pose. "I am the Riolu Kid! Riolu, Force Palm!" Riolu ran up to Pawniard and shifted its hand hard. Pawniard was knocked out in one.

"Pawniard, no!" Brycen shouted.

"Yeah!" I yelled. "Let's do this!"

"Vullaby, go!" Brycen Man shouted. He sent out the Flying Type.

"Ready Riolu?" the Riolu Kid asked. "We will never give up! We defeated Team Plasma; Brycen Man is no match for us! Use Ice Punch!" Riolu punched Vullaby with a frozen hand, knocking it out.

"Noooo!" Brycen Man shouted. "Curse you Riolu Kid! This isn't over yet!"

"I'm sorry, I have failed you," Brycen Man said to a shadowy figure.

"Don't worry, I will have your Battleship ready soon. But do not fail me again!"

"I assure you, Riolu Kid is going down."

The Movie Theatre cheered.

"Well done Rosa!" Hugh said.

"Amazing!" Stu said.

"So many amazing reviews!" Stu said. "Thank you, Rosa. You've helped a ton."

"Hey," Roxie's father said to Roxie. "I'm sorry about all that."

"It's fine!" she said. "You had fun in the end, but everyone has their calling. I have a calling to be a Gym Leader and a rockstar, these two have their callings as Pokémon Trainers and you have your calling as a ferry! But that doesn't mean you shouldn't expand your horizons. Maybe take up a sport!"

"Please do come again!" Stu said. "Maybe we might just have another role for you. All of you."

Roxie's Father put up his hand. "I could be an extra!"

We all laughed.

Location: Virbank City

"Thanks for everything," I told everyone as me and Hugh boarded the boat for Castelia City.

"It's okay," Roxie said. "Thank you for steering Daddy in the right path, and both of you for giving me an unforgettable battle. You'll stop Team Plasma, I know it!"

"I hope we do," Hugh said.

We sat down as the boat's engine started whirring in the water.

"Bye!" everyone yelled as they got smaller and smaller, whilst the skyscrapers of Castelia City got bigger and bigger…

Location: Castelia City

"We're here!" I shouted as I leapt off the boat and onto the pier. "Come on Hugh, let's go find a room at the Pokémon Center. Being an actor was exhausting."

Hugh got off the boat a bit wobbly. He wasn't much of a sea travel person. As we docked, something big caught our eyes. It was a large ship. Like, a really old wooden ship.

"That's odd," Hugh said. "Not everyday you see a ship like this. Wait… could it be?"

"I don't know. The one I saw was flying. We should leave it alone. Officer Jenny can't be seen so it might not be suspicious."

Just then, I heard a rumbling noise. "Something wrong with the boat?" Hugh asked.

"Nope," I replied. "I think all that acting has made me a bit hungry! Hey, we are in Unova's melting pot! Let's treat ourselves!"

"Good idea!" said Hugh.

I had fun as an actor, and I will certainly go back to Virbank at some point. But now I'm now in Castelia City, the biggest settlement in the Unova region and a place where Hilbert himself once took on a Gym Leader. Will I find clues? And maybe that is the same ship. I don't know. But tomorrow, I'm having a browse around Castelia!
