Chapter 28:

Plane Good Battle

Location: Mistralton City

"Woo! Big day today everyone!" I had everyone out of their Pokéballs to tell them this. "Our 6th Gym Badge. It's quite a biggie; we're getting closer and closer to the Pokémon League!"

Growlithe in general was getting particularly yappy. In fact, it breathed fire in my face. "Now that wasn't very nice. Wait, do that again!"

"What?" Hugh said. "You're joking."

Growlithe did it again. It spat fire in my face. "Growlithe learned Flamethrower!"

"Yes, but you didn't need to use yourself as a crash test dummy. I'll be waiting for you by Skyla's plane; she promised she'll fly us to Lentimas Town today if you win."

"Then the Jet Badge will be mine today!" I replied.

Location: Mistralton City Gym

I was a bit concerned about going into this Gym because of the bad experience Hilbert had. But thankfully, they had got rid of the cannons and replaced it with something less dangerous. Not a lot less, but there was a slight less chance of dying.

"Yo, champ in the making!" said Clyde. "Welcome to the Mistralton City Gym, where our Gym Leader, Skyla, uses Flying Types! Electric Types and Rock Types make the best work, but be wary when using Grass and Bug Types. Ground Types? Don't even think about using those moves; they won't touch them!"

The Gym puzzle this time involved some platforms and some giant fans. Every so often, the fans would turn on and blow you away. To prevent this from happening, you have to hide behind some walls. That's just what I did. When the fans started blowing, I took cover. I could tell the fans were going to blow because there were small fans that started blowing before the big fans could.

I came across my first Trainer, a Pilot. (Don't worry, the fans are turned off during Trainer battles).

"My Pokémon will blow you away!"

Rosa Vs. Pilot Flynn

"Okay Trapinch, go!" I shouted.

"You're up Swoobat!" Flynn replied. "Use Air Slash!" Swoobat sliced the air and sent a wave that hit Trapinch.

"Come back with Rock Slide!" Trapinch made rocks fall from the ceiling. Swoobat was down to at least 1/3 health.

"Another Air Slash!" Swoobat sent another wave through the air. Trapinch was barely hanging on.

"Another Rock Slide!" Trapinch made more rocks tumble. Down went Swoobat.

"Well, YOU were the one that ended up blowing me away!"

Immediately after the battle ended, I had to take cover from the blowing fans. I did just in time.

That's how it pretty much went; duck from fans and battle some Pilots. I'll just write down one more experience with a battle.

"This battle is about to take off!"

Rosa Vs. Pilot Elron

"I choose Growlithe!" I yelled.

"Archen, go!" Elron replied, sending out the Fossil Pokémon.

Rock/Flying Type

First Bird Pokémon

It was revived from an ancient Fossil. Not able to fly, it lived in treetops and hopped from one branch to another.

Revived from a Plume Fossil.

"Great timing, not. Growlithe, Flamethrower!" Growlithe fired fire at Archen. It wasn't very effective.

"Archen, Dragon Breath!" Archen breathed a green fire-like substance at Growlithe. When it hit, Growlithe was paralysed.

"That's enough," I said as I recalled Growlithe. "Okay Azumarill, go!" I shouted.

"Acrobatics!" Archen flipped and somersaulted over to Azumarill. It kicked it upon impact. "Now Crunch!" Archen then chomped down on Azumarill's foot.

"Aqua Tail!" Azumarill's tail turned blue. It then whacked Archen with it, knocking it out.

"Good one Archen. Okay Unfezant, let's land this!" Out came his Unfezant, this one being male. "Air Slash!" Unfezant fired a streak through the air that hit it. Azumarill was down.

"Good job Azumarill. Next up, Trapinch!" I shouted.

"What's that gonna do? This is a Flying Type Gym! Wait, it knows Rock Slide. Never mind."

"It knows Night Slash to!" I shouted, as Trapinch's front legs turned black. It swiped Unfezant for a Critical Hit.

"Air Slash!" Unfezant fired an air slice at Trapinch and it hit, revealing it to be Zoroark.

"Now Foul Play!" Zoroark took Unfezant's right wing and chopped it. Unfezant was down.

"A not so smooth landing from me."

So yeah, I beat a few more Trainers and then got to Skyla. Her clothing was a bit… well she didn't have that much clothing on for flying, let's put that straight. She had her belly uncovered and very short shorts.

"Welcome to the Mistralton Gym Rosa," Skyla said. "I heard from a previous challenger that you have the Journal that belonged to Hilbert himself, and I will be happy to help you find him. But before that, let's get this battle into the sky! My name is Skyla, and I will be your opponent!"

Rosa Vs. Gym Leader Skyla

"Okay Swoobat, let's get this match into the sky!" shouted Skyla, sending out the blue Pokémon.

"I choose Minccino!" I replied, as I sent out my Normal Type.

"Acrobatics!" Swoobat darted around all over the place, before attacked Minccino. Well, it wasn't Minccino. It was Zoroark!

"Gotcha! Now use Night Slash!" Zoroark's claws turned red as it swiped Swoobat across the face. It did about half damage to it.

"Use another Acrobatics!" Swoobat darted about the place again and hit Zoroark, who was now hanging on for dear life.

"Another Night Slash!" Zoroark swiped Swoobat again, but it didn't quite knock it out.

"Now Assurance!" Swoobat charged into Zoroark, knocking it out.

"No!" I yelled. "Okay then, my next Pokémon. Go Minccino!" I shouted, as my cute Normal Type entered.

"Swoobat, Acrobatics!" Swoobat darted and somersaulted across the room and attacked Minccino for lots of damage.

"Tail Slap!" Minccino slapped Swoobat across the face five times, knocking it out.

"You're a strong Trainer. But can Minccino make a dent to my Skarmory?" Skyla sent out a grey Pokémon with red wings. Its armour shone in the ceiling lights.

Steel/Flying Type

Armor Bird Pokémon

Its heavy-looking iron body is actually thin and light, so it can fly at speeds of over 180 mph.

Skarmory has no known evolutions.

"Okay Minccino, Wake-Up Slap!" Minccino slapped Skarmory in the face. But Skarmory's high Defense meant that it didn't do a ton.

"Spikes!" Skarmory sent sharp spikes all over the field.

"Minccino, this isn't working. Return. Okay Growlithe, go!" I sent out Growlithe who, upon entry, landed on the spikes. It did damage to it. Clever Skyla; she knew I was going to switch in. Thankfully, Growlithe took a not very effective Steel Wing. "Now use Aerial Ace!" Skarmory dove into Growlithe. Growlithe could take maybe one more hit.

"Growlithe, Flamethrower!" Growlithe fired flames at Skarmory for Super Effective damage. It did a lot to it and, the kicker, Skarmory was burned!

"Use Aerial Ace!" Skarmory dove into Growlithe again. Due to the attack cut, Growlithe survived!

"Now use Reversal!" Growlithe coloured itself blue and lunged into Skarmory, taking it out.

"Well, it seems we're coming into land. Go Swanna!" Skyla sent out her beautiful-white Pokémon.

Despite their elegant appearance, they can flap their wings strongly and fly for thousands of miles.

Ducklett -Lv 35- Swanna

"Okay Swanna, Bubblebeam!" Swanna fired a jet of bubbles at Growlithe. It was down.

"Growlithe!" I yelled. "That does it. Trapinch, go!" I shouted. Trapinch came out and landed on the spikes.

"Bubble Beam again!" Swanna fired bubbles at Trapinch which did a lot of damage.

"Rock Slide!" A Rock Slide was just what was needed to do a lot of damage to Swanna.

"One more Bubble Beam!" One more round of bubbles and Trapinch was finished.

"This one's tough. Okay Servine, finish it!" I shouted. "Leaf Blade!" Servine's tail went green, and it sliced at Swanna. It was a Critical Hit and Swanna went down.

"Congratulations! You have landed this battle in your favour! To commemorate your victory, I present to you, the Jet Badge!" Skyla handed me the blue Badge, which I put in the Badge Case. "I also present you with TM62, which contains Sky Drop. This has a Pokémon lift the opposition into the sky and then drop them down. The opposition can't move whilst this is happening. Pokémon Traded up to Lv. 70 will obey you. Finally, meet me at the plane in an hour so you can heal at the Pokémon Center and grab supplies. We're flying to Lentimas Town!

Location: Mistralton City

"I'm ready!" I said as I got to Skyla with the plane.

"That's great!" she said. "Now remember. This isn't a commercial airline like Delcatty Airlines or Unova Air. This is a personal jet of mine, so it might get a bit uncomfortable."

"WAIT FOR ME!" Running up behind us was Bianca. "Sorry. I shouldn't have waited till the last minute. I forgot how hard Chargestone Cave is to get through."

"Bianca!" I said. "You're coming to?"

"Uh huh!" she said. "Come on! Times a wasting!"

Me, Hugh and Bianca got in the back, and we all strapped in.

"Chocks away!" Skyla shouted through some speakers as some pilots pulled away the wooden chocks from the wheels. (I would question why she would need them, but chocks away is just such a fun thing to comment that I'll let it slide).

As the plane went into the sky, I took out Hilbert's Journal.

"Put that away for once!" Bianca laughed. "Look! The Unova region from above!"

I looked out the window. We could see Twist Mountain, Celestial Tower and more. "Wow. Look how far we've come," I said.

Location: Lentimas Town

The plane landed on a runway that wasn't as well kept as Mistralton's, and it was clear why. Unlike Mistralton City, Lentimas Town was dusty, had many rundown buildings and a mountain, that being Reversal Mountain, just next to it.

After we landed, Skyla opened the door. "Welcome to Lentimas Town!" she said.

"Ah, Senorita Skyla!" one of the locals said. "Welcome back."

"Welcome Miguel," Skyla said taking off her headset. "Patch this up please; I'm heading back to Mistralton City tomorrow."

"Will do!" he said. "Ah, I see you've brought guests."

I figured I would do the introducing. "My name is Rosa. These are my friends, Hugh and Bianca."

"Ah, a nice young lady," Miguel said, eyeing Bianca. "Tell me, want to go out?"

"I… have a boyfriend," Bianca replied.

"What?!" I said. "You never-"

"Show us to the Pokémon Center!" Bianca said.

"All right then. Vamanos, let's go!"

Finally have my 6th Badge, finally in Lentimas Town and… Bianca didn't tell me she's going out with someone. I'm determined to find out who.
