Chapter 31:

Tunnel Vision

Location: (Still) Reversal Mountain

"Don't let the caving get you down Rosa!" Bianca sung. She leaned to me, hoping that I would join in.

"I don't want the caving to get me down. I want to get down out of the cave. And I don't think that's happening anytime soon; we're lost."

"Or are we?" Bianca asked. "Look!" She pointed to an entrance to another room.

"That must be the way out!" I said.

"No!" Bianca said. "I was pointing to that one!" She pointed to another entrance at the end of a corridor.

"Oh, come on! Fine." I said. But I had to listen to her. I got out some Max Repels and sprayed some around us. "But I'm not dealing with an influx of Spoink and Woobat."

We got to the end of the corridor which led us to, surprise surprise, a dead end.

"This isn't the way out," I said. "And there's no Heatran here either."

Bianca looked at me. "Oops. Hey look, Trainers!"

I saw two Pokémon Rangers looking at us. Not menacingly, but we were in their eyeline.

"Bianca," I said. "We should challenge them to a tag battle!"

"Really?" Bianca said. "I'm… not sure. Should we?"

"Why not?" the female Ranger said. "Don't be shy!"

"You're on!" I shouted.

Rosa and Bianca Vs. Pokémon Rangers Eliza and Lewis

"Krokorok, go!" shouted Eliza.

"You're up Watchog!" Lewis replied.

"I choose Serperior!" I shouted.

"You're up Musharna!" Bianca yelled.

"Crunch!" Both of them shouted. Krokorok and Watchog both chomped down on Musharna. Musharna was almost down in one.

"Leaf Blade Serperior!" Serperior swiped at Krokorok with its glowing-green tail. It was a Critical Hit and took it down.

"Musharna, Psychic!" Musharna fired psychic energy at Watchog. It didn't quite knock it out though.

"Okay. I choose Arcanine!" Lewis replied. He sent out a bigger Growlithe essentially.

*Arcanine isn't a Legendary Pokémon in the traditional sense.

"Use Leaf Blade!" I shouted. Serperior tried to attack Watchog, but it missed.

"Arcanine, Fire Fang!" Arcanine's fangs caught fire. It then chomped down on Serperior for Super Effective damage. To make matters worse, it inflicted a burn.

"Watchog, Crunch!" Watchog jumped over to Musharna and bit it, knocking it out.

"Musharna!" Bianca shouted. "You did your best." Bianca got out another Pokéball. "Okay Mienfoo, go!" She sent out a Fighting Type.

It takes pride in the speed at which it can use its moves. What it loses in power, it makes up for in quantity.

"Use Fake Out on Arcanine!" Mienfoo clapped in front of Arcanine's face, forcing a flinch. It couldn't attack Serperior.

"Now Leaf Blade!" I shouted. Serperior swiped Watchog, knocking it out.

"Oh no. Okay Camerupt, go!" Lewis sent out a large orange Pokémon with blue rings on either side. It had two humps that looked like volcanoes.

The volcanoes on its back have a major eruption every 10 years – or whenever it becomes really angry.

Numel – Lv 33 – Camerupt

"Mienfoo, Acrobatics!" Mienfoo cartwheeled over to Camerupt and kicked it.

"Use Leaf Blade!" I shouted as Serperior sliced Camerupt. The burn prevented a lot of potential damage though.

"Camerupt, Lava Plume!" Camerupt sent out a flurry of lava that hit everyone, including Serperior for the final hit.

"Serperior!" I shouted. "You did good. Okay Trapinch, I choose you!" Out came my Ground Type.

"Arcanine, ExtremeSpeed!" Arcanine quickly dashed into Trapinch. Trapinch went back a few steps.

"Mienfoo, Acrobatics again!" Mienfoo tossed and turned over to Camerupt and kicked it in the face. It was a Critical Hit! Camerupt was down.

"Now Trapinch, Dig!" Trapinch dug a hole underground. It then went inside.

"Arcanine, Thunder Fang!" Arcanine's fangs started sparking. Then, it bit down on Mienfoo. Mienfoo was paralysed and couldn't move.

"It's up to you!" Bianca said.

"DO IT!" I yelled at Trapinch. It came above ground and hit Arcanine big time. It was down.

"Well, you found and beat us!" they both said.

"That felt great!" Bianca said. "Just like the good old days! Hey, look!"

She pointed to Trapinch, or should I say, not really Trapinch; it was starting to evolve! When the glowing died down, it was yellow and slim with green wings.

"Let's take the other exit," I told Bianca.

Location: Undella Town

"We're finally out!" I shouted. "And at the beach to!" The sun was shining, people were playing and the opening ceremony for… something was going on. "So… what is that?"

"It's the Marine Tube!" Bianca said. "It's a megaproject that connects Undella Town to Humilau City, which also has a Gym! It should be up and running after you've beaten Drayden. I should warn you, he's strong."

"Hey!" Hugh shouted. "Thought you'd never arrive!"

I decided to take it easy for the rest of the day.

I've finally arrived at Undella Town with a new evolution! It'll be a long way to Opelucid, but am I making good progress?
