Chapter 35:
Zinzolin Attacks
Location: Lacunosa Town Pokémon Center
"Rosa!" Hugh shouted. "You have to get up!"
I honestly didn't want to. "Don't these guys have a curfew? Can't I use this opportunity to sleep in?"
"You've slept through it," Hugh said. "Hurry. We have a Team Plasma situation."
Location: Lacunosa Town
I put on my clothes and went outside. Waiting for me was…
Zinzolin and a Grunt.
"Well well Rosa of Aspertia City. We meet again."
"What do you want?" I said. "To cause trouble I bet!"
"Well, if that's what you want. I am doing research on this place. Lacunosa Town. How fascinating of a settlement. Everyone lives in such fear of the monster that lives in the Giant Chasm that, even long after they built walls to keep it out, they still follow this tradition. And there is a good reason for that; the Legendary Kyurem is not to be messed with."
I almost went for Hilbert's Journal, but remembering what happened last time, I resisted the urge. But even then, I don't remember Hilbert encountering Kyurem on his journey.
"That Pokémon is a new one on me," I said. "Who or what is Kyurem and what are your intentions with it!"
"Maybe I've said too much. Okay, that's enough. Have at you!"
Hugh teamed up with me, and we started the battle.
Rosa and Hugh Vs. Zinzolin and Plasma Grunt M
"I choose Serperior!" I shouted.
"Go Emboar!" Hugh yelled as we sent out our partner Pokémon.
Cryogonal (フリージオ)
197
Ice Type
Crystallizing Pokémon
3'07" (1.1 m)
326.3 lbs (148 kg)
They are composed of ice crystals. They capture prey with chains of ice, freezing prey at -148֯F (64.4֯C).
Cryogonal has no known evolutions.
"Golbat, get em!" shouted the Grunt. Serperior was at a massive disadvantage, but I knew I needed to do what I could.
"Okay Serperior, Leaf Blade!" Serperior's tail turned green, and it swiped at Cryogonal. Cryogonal has very poor defense, so it almost went down.
"Ice Beam Cryogonal!" Cryogonal shot a frozen beam at Serperior. It did a lot of damage.
"Golbat, Acrobatics!" Golbat jumped about everywhere and kicked Serperior in the face. That was the final blow.
"No!" I shouted. "You did great. Sorry Serperior."
"Emboar, Heat Crash!" Emboar covered itself in fire and landed on Golbat. It also almost knocked it out.
"Vibrava, go!" I sent out my Pokémon which was very weak to Ice Type moves, but that was the plan. "Night Slash!" Vibrava extended a claw that swiped Cryogonal in the face. It fainted.
"No!" Zinzolin shouted. "Urgh. You stupid kids."
"Golbat, Acrobatics!" Golbat twisted and turned into Emboar. It was a Critical Hit. Emboar was holding on.
"Use Flamethrower!" Emboar spat fire at Golbat, taking it down.
"Nice!" I told Hugh as we hi-fived.
"We're not done!" Zinzolin shouted. "I choose Sneasel!" He sent out a black Pokémon with sharp-white claws and red feathers on its head.
Sneasel (ニューラ)
252
Dark/Ice Type
Sharp Claw Pokémon
2'11" (0.9 m)
61.7 lbs (28 kg)
A smart and sneaky Pokémon, it makes its opponents flinch by suddenly showing the claws hidden in its paws.
"Garbodor, stink things up!" The other Grunt sent out Trubbish' smelly evolution.
Garbodor (サヅトダス)
106
Poison Type
Trash Heap Pokémon
6'03" (1.9 m)
236.6 lbs (107.3 kg)
Consuming garbage makes new kinds of poison gases and liquids inside their bodies.
Trubbish -Lv 36- Garbodor
"Yuck. And I thought Castelia Sewers smelled bad," I said. "No offense Garbodor but please take a shower."
"Okay Sneasel, use Slash!" Sneasel went over to Vibrava and slashed it in the face, revealing it to be Zoroark. "What? That again?"
"Yes!" I said. "And no, we are not stopping the battle this time, not when we're winning! Night Slash on Garbodor!" Zoroark went over to Garbodor and slashed it with its red claws.
"Garbodor, Sludge Bomb on Emboar!" Garbodor fired a poisonous blob at Emboar, finishing it.
"No!" Hugh yelled. "You've really ticked me off. Simipour, go!" He sent out his Water Type.
"Sneasel, Punishment!" Sneasel ran over to Simipour and attacked it brutally.
"Come back with Brick Break Simipour!" Simipour chopped Sneasel on the head, taking it down.
"Now Zoroark! Night Slash!" Zoroark slashed at Garbodor, ending the battle.
"PLAAAASSSMAAA!" shouted the Grunt.
"That pressure I felt from you just now… what was it?" Zinzolin said.
"You're just like that Trainer from 2 years ago. Urgh."
Suddenly, the Shadow Triad appeared. "Master Zinzolin. You are needed in Opelucid City."
"No!" Hugh said. "You're not going anywhere!"
Zinzolin made his getaway as Hugh followed.
"What am I going to do with him?" I thought.
Suddenly, Nurse Joy came out of the Pokémon Center. "I heard a big ruckus out here. What's going on?"
"Nurse Joy," I said. "I have some things to ask, about Kyurem."
Nurse Joy gulped. "Ah, okay. But we don't usually discuss that out here. Come inside, I'll tell you all about it."
Location: Lacunosa Town Pokémon Center
After Nurse Joy healed my Pokémon, she got out a book. On it was a giant Pokémon with large wings. I couldn't make out the colours; the book was faded.
"Mind if I read?" I asked.
"Go ahead," Nurse joy replied.
Many years ago, a meteorite crashed into the Unova region. This created what is now known at the Giant Chasm. Right next to it was the settlement of Lacunosa Town, the most carefree city in Unova, perhaps the world. No one expected something like this, but they had every right to be scared.
One night, a Child who was out late collecting wood for the fast-approaching Winter didn't return. Lacunosa Town was in panic, and every resident went into the forest to look for him. To their surprise, the forest where the child was collecting wood was completely frozen over, made even more odd because it was the middle of autumn.
Everyone tried their hardest, but the Child was nowhere to be found in the woods. But things got stranger because, the next day, all the snow had melted.
The next night, a Woman was walking home late at night after her wedding, and she disappeared. The town went into panic again, and another search was conducted. But to do that, they had to trudge through yet another layer of snow. However, she also couldn't be found.
The distraught mother of the child and widower of the wife started suspecting that it might have something to do with the meteor. So, accompanied by the Mother's Husband, they set off for Giant Chasm. They made their way to the crater where, sure enough, something was waiting for them. It was cold and terrifying.
The Husband said that it was too dangerous but, overcome with the grudge, the Widower and Mother charged in whilst the Husband ran away. As he did this, a blizzard started whipping up, but he miraculously escaped. The others did not.
Returning at sunset, the new widower told everyone of the giant monster which he named "Kyurem." He told everyone that they needed to go to bed before a certain time. He also made a deal with the Mayor that they build a giant wall to keep Kyurem out. And so it began. People followed the curfew rules; even the most rebellious of children were too scared to break them. The wall was built, but everything was not right. Having lost the two joys in his life, the new widower fell into a depression. He started getting angry and upset, which led to him getting very sick.
As he lay down on his bed, he gave one final request.
"Do not stop this curfew. Many people of future generations need to be safe. Kyurem is a terrifying power not to be messed with. Only if Kyurem were to go away would the people of Lacunosa truly be safe."
Those were his final words.
"What a horrifying Pokémon," I said. "I can see why people still follow this tradition. And I'm afraid that it's horrifying reign of terror may be utilized."
"And that's not the last of it," Nurse Joy said. "We believe that it might get stronger…"
I'm scared that Zinzolin might take advantage of Kyurem. If it's as bad as the book described it, then the Unova region is in real danger…
