Chapter 47:

Kyurem's True Power

Location: Plasma Frigate

I woke up in a jail cell. It took me a minute to remember the events of what I found out was yesterday when I saw the date on my Xtransceiver.

"Hugh?!" I shouted. "Where are you?"

"Here!" Hugh shouted in the jail cell next to me. "And Colress is in the next one."

"Good going," I shouted at Colress, even if I wasn't making eye contact. "Thanks to you the Unova region is in danger!"

"Leave him alone!" Hugh said. "He's clearly guilty about what he's done. I'm mad to, but if Colress made this mess, he can help us fix it. Is there some way?"

Colress stayed silent.

"Great help," I said. "Okay, we need to get out of here. How do we do that though?" I felt over the jail cell beams; they were electrified. "Don't worry. If it's electricity, then Flygon can handle i-"

My Pokémon were gone. Team Plasma would never look over a big detail like that.

"Mine are gone to," Hugh said. "Urgh. What was I thinking? Going on this journey? And it all amounted to nothing anyway, since Liepard can't even remember my own face. Rosa, I'm sorry I dragged you into this. Chances are when Kyurem freezes Unova, we'll be the first ones to go. Thank you for being a good friend to me."

I leaned up against the cell door and sighed. I put my hands into my face and started sobbing. After about half a minute of that though, I got up. "No, we are not giving up now. I learned about not giving up recently."

"So, what's the plan?" Hugh asked. "Wait for someone to unlock the doors?"

Suddenly, the laser beams went down. It took us by surprise.

"Hey!" bellowed a voice.

"It's Rood!" I said as the Sage came with our Pokéballs.

"These are yours," he said, giving my Pokémon to me. He then went over to Hugh. "These are yours, and I may or may not have sneakily got Liepard to…"

Hugh smiled. "Thanks, Gorm. Never thought I'd be thanking a member of Team Plasma." He looked at Liepard's Pokéball. "It's me, you will remember."

Gorm then looked over at Colress. "As for you, you better help us. It's only fair."

Colress got up and closed his cell door. "No. I've caused enough trouble already."

"It wasn't all you!" I said. "Come on, you're on our side now!" Gorm got out Colress' Pokéballs. "We have no time! If we don't hurry, Unova will become a tundra!"

Colress gulped. "Okay, but I must warn you. Kyurem is an incredibly dangerous Pokémon and, if Ghetsis' plan is going the way he intended it to, it's about to get even worse."

Rood nodded. "Okay. I've sent the Grunts to Lacunosa Town, Humilau City and Undella Town to start evacuation in the worst case scenario, and I'll join them. Don't worry, I'll know when, or if, you've defeated Kyurem."

Meloetta appeared at that moment to. "Okay gang, let's head out!"

Location: Inner Cave

Me, Hugh and Colress rushed into the northern most cave to find Ghetsis just standing there.

"It ends here!" Hugh shouted. "Stop it this instant! The power will be too much to control!"

"You don't know anything!" Ghetsis shouted. "My attempt to take control of Unova failed, so I might as well destroy it and start from scratch! Okay Kyurem, come forth!"

A blizzard appeared from all around us, and Kyurem appeared. It gave out a deafening roar.

"What are we going to do?" Hugh asked me.

"There is one thing we can try. Meloetta, try calming it down."

Meloetta appeared and tried singing. It had a calming effect on all of us. However, Kyurem seemed unaffected. Ghetsis also seemed to be immune.

"Like that will work. Kyurem, Dragon Pulse!" Kyurem fired energy at Meloetta, and it flew back. I caught it.

"Meloetta!" I shouted. "I think it was too early. It seems that we need to do some of the dirty work."

"Well," Ghetsis told me. "Too bad the three of you will be finished before you have time to stop me."

"Oh no," Colress said. "He's going to do it."

"Do what?!" I shouted as the cave started getting even colder, which was surprisingly possible.

"Kyurem," Ghetsis said. "Glaciate!"

Kyurem made multiple big icicles, and they started swirling around us.

"We're trapped!" I said. "Hugh, this has been a fun time. But I'm afraid that this might be the end."

The icicles span faster and faster as we embraced for impact. "I'm sorry sister," Hugh said. "I failed…"

"RESHIRAM, FUSION FLARE!"

Milliseconds before the ice hit, a ball of fire descending from down upon us, melting the ice instantly.

"What happened?" Colress asked.

"Look up!" I shouted.

"I don't believe it," Hugh said.

"Is that…"

Reshiram (レシラム)

295

Dragon/Fire Type

Vast White Pokémon

10'06" (3.2 m)

727.5 lbs (330 kg)

This Legendary Pokémon can scorch the world with fire. It helps those who want to build a world of truth.

Legendary Pokémon

"N!" I shouted. N dismounted as we hugged. "Thank you for making it."

"I'm sorry," Hugh said. "Do you know each other."

"We're… acquaintances," I replied as I looked at Colress. He wasn't excited; in fact he seemed more concerned than ever.

"Rosa!" Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion and Keldeo appeared as well. Keldeo looked a bit different. Its horn was bigger and blue.

"Just in time! Nice new look Keldeo!"

"Yeah!" it said. "I learned a move called Secret Sword, which allows me to turn into my Resolute Form! I'm stronger now!"

Celebrations needed to come later, however. "Ghetsis, do you really think you can take us all down? Me, Hugh, Colress, Meloetta, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo and your own stepson who, in case you haven't figured it out already, has the Legendary Reshiram on his side?"

N walked up to Ghetsis. "How could you do this father? I can't allow humans to let Pokémon suffer! I like Unova, it's a place that showed me that humans and Pokémon can live in harmony with one another. But your heart is too full of hate that you can never see that."

Ghetsis didn't say a word. His son, who had been missing for two years, was right in front of him. He didn't feel happy to see him again, not that N was exactly happy to see Ghetsis again so that didn't exactly surprise me. He wasn't intimidated by the appearance of Reshiram.

"You saved me the work of searching…" Ghetsis said. He got out a special device.

"No!" Colress shouted. "The DNA Splicers!"

"Enough!" Terrakion shouted. "Rock Slide!" Terrakion made rocks fall from the ceiling, but Kyurem blasted them out the way with icy power.

"Enough is enough," Ghetsis shouted. "Your efforts at interruptions are futile."

N held up the DNA Splicers, and it started radiating energy. To our horror, we saw Reshiram getting sucked in.

"Reshiram, return!" But the Pokéball didn't work.

"The worst is here," Colress said.

Reshiram had turned back into the White Stone. Kyurem, using the power of the splicers, absorbed the stone. Then, in a pillar of fire, revealed a forrifying Frankenstein abomination of both Pokémon. Grey and white, in a mixture of beautiful and terrifying.

"White… Kyurem," Colress said as heat flared off of it. "I never thought it would be real."

My mind was trying to comprehend what was happening. "As if Kyurem wasn't bad enough," I said.

"So," Hugh asked. "What's the plan?"

I looked over to the Swords of Justice. "History repeats itself; you need to help your friends from the destruction of humans. Save the Pokémon of the Giant Chasm. Meloetta, go with them and keep things calm."

"We will," Cobalion said. Virizion picked up the injured Meloetta and put it on its back.

"We'll be back as soon as we can," Virizion said as they all ran off.

"What about you?" Hugh asked.

I looked at the horrifying mishmash of Legends before me. "I'll challenge White Kyurem. If we are going to have any hope of separating it, then I need to beat it."

"Well look at this!" Ghetsis shouted. "You want to stop me? What can a kid like you do?"

"I… can do a lot," I said. I felt my Pokéballs trembling. "But I can do even more with my Pokémon with me!"

"That's… impossible!" Ghetsis said, slamming his cane. "Pokéball's can't show emotion!"

"Yes, they can," N said. "Rosa. I sense that your Pokémon are ready to give it all they've got. For both their friends, and for the Unova region. Do you feel up to this though?"

I nodded. "They got me this far, and we can go even further!"

White Kyurem roared again. It was time.

Rosa Vs. White Kyurem

"Okay Arcanine, you try first!" Out came my Fire Type. "Outrage!" Arcanine got angry and started attack White Kyurem for a lot of damage. Kyurem came back with Dragon Pulse. It was a Critical Hit. What's worse is that another Outrage missed. This gave White Kyurem and opportunity to end Arcanine with another Dragon Pulse.

"Serperior, go!" Aware of the Type disadvantage, I just needed to use it. "Slam!" Serperior slammed its tail down onto White Kyurem. Suddenly, it started charging fire.

"Careful!" Colress shouted. "It's getting ready to use its Ice Burn attack!"

"Slam it again!" Serperior slammed down on White Kyurem once more. However, the Ice Burn was charged. It shot a frost-covered large flame at Serperior, finishing immediately.

"This isn't good. Flygon, go!" I shouted. "Dragon Tail!" Flygon hit White Kyurem with its glowing blue tail. Kyurem got another Ice Burn charged up though. Flygon used another Dragon Tail, but then succumbed to the move next go.

"Hang in there Rosa!" Hugh shouted.

"Cinccino, you're up next!" I shouted. "Rock Blast attack!" Cinccino fired five rocks at White Kyurem who was getting weaker. Then White Kyurem came back with Fusion Flare. Cinccino was badly hurt. "Another Rock Blast!" Cinccino fired more rocks at White Kyurem, before it was taken out by a Dragon Pulse. "Azumarill, go!" I was getting desperate, but I was also winning. White Kyurem came back with another Dragon Pulse. "Okay Azumarill, Hydro Pump!" Azumarill fired a large jet of water at White Kyurem, finishing it off.

"Great one!" Hugh said. "Okay Ghetsis, give up!"

Colress ran over to the fainted Pokémon. "There must be some way to separate these two. No, there is a way."

Ghetsis clenched his hand on his cane so hard that the metal bent. "You… ARRRGHH! MY PLAN! IT'S RUINED!"

"Not that he wasn't before, but Ghetsis has gone completely mad!" Hugh shouted. "Are you sure you can take him on?"

I looked over at Hugh optimistically. "I got this. Well, not at the mo."

"Hold on," Hugh said, healing my team. "I know the situation is tense already, but the fate of the Unova region is resting upon your soldiers. I can do it if you want."

"Don't worry," I said. "I've got this I hope."

I stood opposite Ghetsis. "You… RUINED MEEEE!"""

Rosa Vs. Ghetsis

"Take her down Cofagrigus!" Ghetsis shouted.

Cofagrigus (デスカーン)

168.7 lbs (76.5 kg)

Grave robbers who mistake them for real coffins and get too close end up trapped inside their bodies.

Yamask -Lv 34- Cofagrigus

"Go Serperior!" I shouted. "Night Slash!" I shouted as Serperior slashed Cofagrigus across the face for a Super Effective hit.

"Toxic!" Cofagrigus shot purple ooze at Serperior, badly poisoning it. It was revealed to be Zoroark in the process. "Now Protect!" Cofagrigus made a shield around itself.

"Torment!" However, the Torment was blocked. "Night Slash again!" Zoroark slashed at Cofagrigus again, this one being a Critical hit.

"Shadow Ball!" Cofagrigus fired a black ball at Zoroark, but it didn't do that much.

"Another Night Slash!" Zoroark slashed at Cofagrigus once more. The Critical Hit finished it off.

"GO TOXICROAK!" Ghetsis shouted.

Toxicroak (ドクロッグ)

291

Poison/Fighting Type

Toxic Mouth Pokémon

4'03" (1.3 m)

97.9 lbs (44.4 kg)

The croaking that Toxicroak produces before a battle is for churning the poison it has stored in its poison sac.

Croagunk -Lv 37- Toxicroak

"Use Torment!" I shouted as Zoroark started shouting at Toxicroak.

"Brick Break attack!" Toxicroak chopped Zoroark on the head, landing a Super Effective attack. Thankfully, thanks to Torment, it couldn't use it next time. Not that it mattered too much; the poison had almost finished Zoroark.

"Night Slash!" Zoroark slashed at Toxicroak, but it didn't do much.

"Poison Jab!" Toxicroak jabbed Zoroark with its poisonous hand. After that, Zoroark fainted from the poison.

"Good job," I assured Zoroark. "Okay Flygon, go!" Ground Type moves would be the go-to against Toxicroak. "Earth Power!"

"Sucker Punch!" Toxicroak got a hit in quickly before Flygon. Flygon then made the ground crack in front of it, and Toxicroak took a lot of damage. "Great! Now another Earth Power!" Flygon made the ground crack again, and Toxicroak fainted.

"Eelektross, go!" Ghetsis yelled. I knew that Levitate blocked Earth Power, so I switched out.

"Serperior, go!" I replied back. "Use Leaf Blade!" Serperior slashed at Eelektross.

"Flamethrower!" Eelektross blew fire at Serperior. It was Super Effective.

"Giga Drain!" Serperior sapped health from Eelektross.

"Acrobatics!" Eelektross flipped and turned about before attacking Serperior. Giga Drain had allowed it to survive.

"Leaf Blade again!" Serperior sliced at Eelektross again and knocked it out.

"You brat. Drapion! Go!" Out came another Poison Type.

"Thanks, Serperior. Flygon, go!" Out came my Ground Type again.

"Ice Fang!" Drapion's jaws went cold and it bit Flygon. A Super Effective hit, Flygon was down.

"Good job Flygon. Okay Arcanine, go!" Out came my Fire Type. "Flamethrower!" Arcanine spat flames at Drapion. When it hit, Drapion was burned!

"Cross Poison!" Drapion slashed at Arcanine in an X formation, but thankfully nothing was fatal.

"Flamethrower again!" Arcanine shot more fire at Drapion, finishing it.

"How am I being beaten?! Seismitoad, go!"

Seismitoad (ガマゲロゲ)

230

Water/Ground Type

Vibration Pokémon

136.7 lbs (62 kg)

By putting power into its bumps, it creates vibrations and increases the power of its punches.

Tympole -Lv 25- Palpitoad -Lv 36- Seismitoad

Didn't want Arcanine facing that. "Cinccino, go!" It was the fluffy friend vs. the slimy foe. "Bullet Seed!" Cinccino shot five rounds of seeds at Seismitoad.

"Drain Punch!" Seismitoad punched Cinccino in the face and restored some of its HP.

"Bullet Seed again!" Cinccino fired more seeds at Seismitoad. But it was just refusing to go down.

"Drain Punch!" Seismitoad punched Cinccino again, this time landing a Critical Hit. Cinccino was finished.

"This isn't over! Serperior, go!" Out came the Pokémon that was best suited to the job. "Giga Drain!" Serperior sapped some health away from Seismitoad. But Seismitoad had a plan.

"Sludge Wave!" Seismitoad created a wave of ooze that crashed down onto Serperior, leaving it barely hanging.

"Giga Drain again!" Serperior drained away the rest of Seismitoad's HP.

"You… now you've done it! HYDREIGON GO!" I was fearing this Pokémon. The three-headed menace entered the scene.

Hydreigon (サザンドラ)

275

Dark/Dragon Type

Brutal Pokémon

5'11" (1.8 m)

352.7 lbs (160 kg)

Its responds to movement by attacking. This scary, three-headed Pokémon devours everything in its path.

Deino -Lv 50- Zweilous -Lv 64- Hydreigon

"Stay vigilant," I told Serperior. "Slam!" Serperior slammed down on Hydreigon.

"Dragon Rush!" Hydreigon surrounded itself in blue energy and rammed into Serperior.

"Azumarill, I you're next!" Certainly, Pokémon on either end of the cute scale here.

"Use Crunch!" Hydreigon chomped down on Azumarill, and its Defense fell.

"Superpower!" Azumarill got buff and attacked Hydreigon for lots of damage.

"Dragon Rush!" Hydreigon surrounded itself in blue energy again and charged into Azumarill. It was done.

"Last chance," I said to myself. "Arcanine, go!" Out came my final hope. "Outrage!" Arcanine got angry and attacked Hydreigon. It was finished.

"Could it be? My plans for domination have once again failed?!"

"NO NO NO!" Ghetsis shouted. "NO! YOU ARE ALL FOOLS! I'M PERFECT! I'M THE PERFECT RULER OF THIS WORLD! I LOST TO SOME UNKNOWN TRAINER NO ONCE, BUT TWICE?!"

Rood arrived with the Grunts, as well as the Swords of Justice. "I think the only thing you'll be ruling in the jail cell," he said.

Ghetsis, now sweating, pointed to N. "I CAN'T ACCEPT THIS! THIS ISN'T POSSIBLE! YOU CAN'T TALK TO POKÉMON! YOU'RE MENTAL! AND NO SON OF MINE!"

"I never was," N said, a tear rolling down his cheek.

"That's enough," Rood said as more of his Grunts appeared. They came and took Ghetsis away.

"NO! NO! PLASMA WILL PREVAIL!"

"Everyone," Colress said. "Kyurem will be just fine. Thanks to the efforts of everyone here."

"Gee, thanks!" I said, a tad embarrassed.

N was looking outside. "On that day two years ago, Hilbert and Alder taught me something. By accepting different ideas, this world creates a different chemical reaction… So, I met many different Trainers and Pokémon. By being with humans, Pokémon can work towards new horizons. That's what Reshiram taught me; the truth. For Pokémon, and me."

I smiled. "Thanks for turning up."

"Ah, which reminds me," said N. He reached into his bag and pulled out…

"Hilbert's Journal?!" I shouted. "No, I can't accept this. I missed my chance."

"Who's to say that was the only one?" N said.

I turned to the back of the page. "I… don't believe it. He wants to battle me after I become Champion?"

"Seems that way!" N said. "You deserve it, and you can return it to him then! After all, Serperior told me that you chose Snivy to counter Hilbert's Water Type partner Samurott. With that, you should head to the Pokémon League!"

I looked at Serperior's Pokéball. "You're right. I should. Thank you again everyone who helped."

"If I may," Colress asked. "Meloetta, how would you like to come with me? I would like to research your song to help bring out the potential in Pokémon?"

Meloetta danced around gleefully, and I was down for it. "Go get em, Meloetta!"

"Well," Hugh said. "Now that that's done, shall we head off to the League?"

I nodded. We watched N get on Reshiram and fly out of the cave.

Location: Route 23

"It's just over there!" Hugh said. He pointed to a large cliff in the distance. At the top of it was the Pokémon League. "At the end of Route 23 is Victory Road. And after that, our destiny."

Team Plasma has been defeated, Hugh has fulfilled his goal, and I have a date with destiny. All of a sudden, everything seems to be looking up to us.
