Chapter 55:
Bred to be Wild
Location: Route 3
With Nacrene City behind me, I wandered down Route 3. The only way wild Pokémon could be encountered was by veering off the beaten path.
Today I just wanted to get to Striaton City, so I walked along the dirty footpath. The nature in this part of Unova was similar to Route 23 in many ways. Clean air, clear water and just a relaxing atmosphere.
Anyway, I came across two Cheerleaders.
"We'll cheer for each other!"
"Go bestie!"

"Flygon, Serperior! Go!" I shouted.
"Pachirisu, go!" shouted May, sending out a white-fluffy Pokémon with some blue on its tail.

A pair may be seen rubbing their cheek pouches together in an effort to share stored electricity.
Pachirisu has no known evolutions.
"Emolga, go!" Mal shouted.
"Okay Serperior, Leaf Blade!" Serperior swiped Pachirisu across the face.
"Emolga, Acrobatics!" Emolga tossed and turned, before kicking Serperior.
"Now Pachirisu, Super Fang!" Pachirisu jumped forward and bit down on Flygon, taking away half of its health.
"Earth Power Flygon!" Flygon sent a shockwave through the ground that hit Pachirisu, knocking it out. "Now use Dragon Tail Serperior!" Serperior whacked Emolga with its tail.
"Acrobatics again!" Emolga flipped and turned, attack Serperior.
"Flygon, Hyper Beam!" Flygon fired a massive beam at Emolga, winning me the match.
"Well, we lost together."
After some walking, I reached the Daycare Centre. Yes, this was a Daycare for children and Pokémon. People can leave two Pokémon here and, under the correct circumstances, produce an Egg. It brought me back to my childhood, not that I had ever been to Striaton Daycare.
"Excuse me," I asked the Teacher. I knew her name, it was Autumn. It was Hilbert's old Teacher.
Autumn looked up to me. "Oh, my goodness, it's the Champion! Kids, we have a special guest today!"
All the children got off the playground equipment and came around me in awe.
"It's the Champion! What is she doing here?"
"Oh no, I didn't sign any forms for this."
"Hi!" I said. "This… wasn't planned but I thought I'd stop by on my way to Striaton City."
Autumn smiled. "Great to hear that! Oh, and thanks for saving the Unova region! You're a selfless young lady!"
Touched, I blushed a bit. "So, what's going on here?"
"Well," she said. "We have some people picking up some Pokémon today. But their a bit wild. Would you like to come and see?"
Autumn took me to the Garden where many Pokémon were playing. Among them however were two pink Pokémon. One was round and had a spiral on its head.

Its body has a faintly sweet scent and it bouncy and soft. If it bounces even once, it cannot stop.

The other was in the shape of a star.

According to local rumors, Cleffa are often seen in places where shooting stars have fallen.

"The Trainers who left the Pokémon here to breed forgot to come for the Eggs, and they hatched into them whilst they were away. I had to do it myself. If a Pokémon doesn't hatch, it would die."
"Wait," I said. "Maybe there is a reason for not turning up. I'm not saying you're completely wrong, but maybe the Trainer didn't mean to."
"If I'm right though… it makes me sick! What am I to do? Train them myself? I can't do that!"
"Excuse me!" We heard some voices from the reception area.
"SO!" Autumn shouted at the Cheerleaders I met beforehand. "Leaving you're Pokémon to breed by themselves then not picking up the Egg?"
"That's not it!" May said. "We were so busy with stuff that we forgot!"
"We're part of Nacrene High's Cheering Squad! We left them there so that we can focus on this but got so caught up, we forgot!"
"Hmm," Autumn said. "Okay. I'll let you off this once." She gave them two Pokéballs each. "Here is your Igglybuff, Wigglytuff, Cleffa and Clefable. But DON'T let it happen again."
The two Cheerleaders gulped. "We won't." With that, they left.
"That was a bit harsh," I said.
"Sorry. It's not easy dealing with kids. Weather that be human children or new-born Pokémon."
"It's fine. Okay, I'm gonna head to Striaton!"
Location: Striaton City
"Finally here!" I said. "The place where Hilbert got his first Badge!"
The flats stood tall around me, but the main thing that caught my attention was the Gym. I mean restaurant, oh whatever.
I'm making good progress! And tomorrow, hopefully I WILL get a battle!
