KAGEYAMA
TWO WEEKS LATER
The closer we got to Saturday the more anxious I became. Hinata has been supportive of me. In case my parents ask certain questions, he wanted to know what school I was going to, what my major is. Stuff school mates talk about. I'm wearing some slacks and a button down shirt knowing my father would prefer this. Hinata followed my lead being dressed up as well. He pulls up to the curb as my dad hates for anyone to park in the driveway.
"Tobio, it's going to be okay," says Hinata grabbing my hand. I glance down realizing my hand was trembling. I take a deep breath.
"Okay," I say softly. "Ready." Hinata nods his head unlocking the car door. We get out with him clicking on the alarm. I pull out my keys to let myself into the house. Soon as we are inside, I can see mom had someone redecorate the house. She hates for the house to look outdated as she says. She gets the whole house done once a year. Only the kitchen tends to say the same.
"Wow…" mutters Hinata gazing around at what he can see from the entrance.
"It's a lot of house for no damn reason," I say lowly. "My parents should be in the living room." I guide Hinata down the hall towards the main room. I can see him out of the corner of my eye taking in the expensive artwork and mirrors my mom has in the hall. I head into the main room seeing my mom sipping wine and my dad is companied with a glass of whiskey.
"Tobio!" exclaims mom standing up. She walks over to me in a cocktail dress hugging me. She kisses my cheek before focusing on Hinata. "Hello."
"This is my roommate Shoyo Hinata," I say.
"Nice to meet you," says Hinata taking my mom hand shaking it. "You look lovely this evening." My mom smirks loving the compliment.
"Charming," she replies. "Thank you for coming this evening. School has really kept Tobio busy. Honey mentioned something of you two being busy this evening."
"We are never too busy for you," replies Hinata. "Just let us know and we can always make time for you." Don't say that Hinata. I hate coming home. I hate being home.
"Sounds like we should be reaching out to you," replies mom before chuckling. "Would you like a tour of our home?"
"Yes, please," says Hinata. I hold in a groan as my dad stands up.
"I'm sure she will tell you the story," he replies. Mom loves bragging about this damn house. I mean she brags in general but still.
"We had this house built just for us!" she exclaims. "Let's start at the front!" I see they hired a cook for this evening as we pass the kitchen. Not surprising. We get to the front and mom begins to explain her theme for the next couple of months. I know she will change it when wintertime comes. We do a tour of the downstairs before going up stairs. I can tell Hinata is overwhelmed by my parents' home. Seeing their massive bedroom he looked uncomfortable.
"Lastly is Tobio room," says my father opening the door. Hinata seems to be holding in his excitement as he steps into my old room. It is as I left it.
"Organized as always," states Hinata glancing around.
"He wanted to use blue as his main color," says mom. "I refused. Blue doesn't fit with the remaining décor." My room is white with shades of black and beige. I really wish she would have let me use blue. Blue and white look great together in my opinion.
"Metals," says Hinata walking over to my desk.
"Oh yeah," says dad. "He played volleyball in high school. Got some metals for winning his games."
"We won the championship," I correct trying to hide my immediate irritation. Always downplaying my volleyball skills.
"Sure," drones dad. "Lucky for us he has his focus where it should be."
"Our Tobio is going to be just as successful as his father," replies mom. "Let's head back downstairs as dinner should almost be ready."
"Tobio, can I have a word with you," states dad.
"Yes," I reply. Hinata shifts his eyes towards me. I give a small nod I will be okay. Hinata leaves the room with my mom closing the door.
"What the fuck was that?" he demands.
"What was what?" I inquire. He sighs in frustration.
"I will revisit that," he replies. He reaches into his back pocket pulling out an envelope. "Care to tell me what this is?" I stare at it with my heart beginning to slam inside my chest. It's from the university. I don't say anything. My father back hands me so hard I fall to the floor. "What is this nonsense about you dropping out?" I'm trying to catch my breath as pain begins to extend my body.
"I-I didn't," I mumble. "I'm only taking the semester off."
"You are to be in school right now!" he snaps towering over me. "There is no reason for your ass to have dropped out."
"I-It's summer," I mumble scared to look up. I know this reason is not good enough. It is the only thing that comes to mind. My father hits me again as I knew he would.
"Excuses!" he barks. I'm trying so hard to not cry right now. It will make him madder. "Get your ass up. Now you will enlist into classes for the rest of summer." They only have one group of classes. I already missed them.
"I can't….." He slaps me before I can even explain. This time I break down. Why does he do this to me? I have always done everything to make him and mom happy.
"Stop that fucking crying!" he screams. "I am paying for you to get a good education. You are lucky. Most kids have to fucking beg their parents for money." I don't want anything from him. I never asked for this. "Clean yourself up and get downstairs. You better act right in front of our company." My dad leaves the room and I begin to sob harder trying to keep it together. I wipe my face taking deep breaths as I rise to my feet. Many times volleyball is the only thing that saved me. I can't stand my life outside of it. I slowly walk over to the mirror above my tall dresser.
"Oh my god…." I mumble before crying softly. My cheek is starting to swell and will probably bruise. How am I going to explain this to Hinata? Once again, I am wiping away tears, but my eyes won't stop watering. I hear my door open causing me to flitch before looking at the door.
"Tobio…" whispers Hinata peering into my room. I thought it was my dad coming back. So glad I was wrong. I have never been so glad to see him.
"Shoyo," I say in surprise. I know my parents wouldn't let him come to my room. He must have said something to get away from them.
"T-tobio…." He cries lowly running over to me. He reaches his hand up towards my face but doesn't touch me. His hand hovers for a moment. "Babe…..what happened…"
"My father found out…" I whisper. "He found out I dropped out of school. It was only for this semester I swear!" Hinata is inspecting my face touching my chin moving my head slightly. Just that alone hurts my neck.
"Regardless of you dropping out of classes this was not warranted," he states. Hinata grabs tissues off my dresser wiping my face softly. "Tobio, this is bad. I don't know if your face will be healed in time for practice. Kuroo and Bokuto will be worried. I'm worried…"
"It's okay," I reply. I have to be strong. I know Hinata will support me no matter what but still. "I have some make up to cover it up."
"Make up?" questions Hinata. "Are you kidding me?"
"Let's go before my parents come looking for us," I reply heading out of my room. I don't wait for him because I don't want to give him the opportunity to continue this conversation. I head downstairs taking a deep breath before walking into the family room. I see the chef sitting the meal out on the table.
"Starting off with some meso soup," says mom. "A chopped salad with shrimp dressing." She sounds so excited as if she has never had this before.
"Sounds delicious mom," I reply sitting down. Hinata walks into the room sitting down beside me.
"Hinata," says dad. "What are you going to school for?"
"I'm going to school to be a teacher," he replies.
"A teacher?" asks mom. "There isn't any how do I say it. Is there any money in that field?" I worry about how Hinata is going to respond to this.
"It's about the same salary as a counselor," he replies. "My main concern is to help young adults in need. Some teens have a hard time learning. I want to be able to help them learn in any way I can." Mom nods in approval.
"Tobio is going to school to be a doctor," she replies proudly. Hinata looks down at his plate knowing I have no interest in being a doctor. I want to go to school for building computer databases. I like the details of that work. I can get lost in it for hours. It challenges me just enough.
"I'm sure he will make a great doctor," states Hinata. He begins to eat his soup. My mom begins to chat about how she is looking forward to vacationing this year in Italy. Dad made it clear I won't be coming because I will be in classes. My cheek is swollen by the time we get to the main course. Hinata looks so uncomfortable with each passing minute. "Kageyama, did you need something for your cheek?"
"He's fine," states my father sternly.
"I'm okay Hinata," I reply. "Thank you for asking." I hear my mom phone chime as well as fathers. Mom ignores hers while dad picks his up.
"Honey, we have a guest," she says.
"You know I have money in the stocks," he replies. "I need to ensure nothing is going wrong."
"Stocks," says Hinata. "Sounds like that could be challenging."
"It can be," he replies scrolling his phone. My dad sits his phone down. We manage to make it through the rest of dinner without anything else happening. I am glad to see my mom is happy with my visit, but I am more than ready to go.
"Thanks for dinner mom," I say feeling more than full after dessert.
"You should visit more often," states mom. "You can show Hinata the guest quarters so you can get ready for a good night's rest."
"Night's rest?" I question as Hinata looks confused as I feel.
"Remember how you said you would be staying the night," says my father standing up. I never fucking said that! "I think it's great you young men aren't trying to drive back so late." I don't even know what to say. I try to keep from shaking.
"Mr. Kageyama," says Hinata. "We couldn't trouble you all this evening."
"Nonsense," says dad. "I'm going to fix myself another glass. Do as your mother tell you." I stand up slowly.
"We don't have any clothes on us," I reply. What the fuck are we going to tell coach! We have curfew. We are suppose to be back at the training facility. I can't tell my parents that…..
"I'm sure Hinata can fit something of yours," says mom before following my dad in the kitchen. I begin to slowly walk towards the stairs. I can either piss off my dad or my coach. I sigh because both sounded so unpleasant.
"Kageyama," says Hinata lowly. I shake my head trying not to let the stress get to me.
"Let's get you settled," I reply heading up the stairs quickly. I can hear Hinata behind me trying to keep up.
"Kageyama!" he exclaims. "Slow down!" I walk pass my room taking Hinata into the guest quarters. It's a nice room. I wouldn't mind staying here if I was a guest of some nice people.
"I guess I can grab you some clothes to sleep in," I state glancing around the room. Mom changed the décor in this room as well. She went with gold, white and beige. So darn bright in here now. I liked the bronze, dark orange, and brown that was in here before.
"Tobio," says Hinata grabbing my hand. I panic looking at the door seeing he closed it. "T-tobio….." His voice is shaking as his hand tightens on me. I lean down kissing his lips softly.
"Shoyo….." I mutter against his lips. I have been sleeping by his side for many nights now. I almost don't know how to do so without him. Hinata touches my cheek that is not swollen.
"I don't want to stay here," he whispers. "I….I don't like what I'm seeing." I sigh. It was only a matter of time before he found out. I preferred never.
"It's why I didn't want to come home," I admit lowly. "My parents never supported me or my goals." I take a deep breath. "Sometimes I feel like a pawn. Like I am just here to make them look better to their rich friends." Hinata kisses me softly. I can't help it as I wrap my arms around his waist pressing him into my body. "I love you Shoyo….." He groans into my mouth. He pulls away shaking.
"I love you too Tobio," he whispers before letting go of my hand and cheek running both hands over his face. "It's just one night. We can do this. I will text Bokuto and tell him we won't be returning tonight. I won't give him the details but only what he needs to know." I nod my head. "Let's go to your room and pick out something for me to wear tonight." He walks towards the door beginning to smile. "Maybe something you wore in high school." My mouth drops open just picturing him in my high school uniform or even my old school gym clothes.
"Mm…." I hum grabbing my dick that has begun to throb. Hinata chuckles with the light returning to his eyes.
"Stop that….." he mutters glancing over his shoulder. "You're making me horny." I begin to chuckle as Hinata walks out of the guest room. I quickly follow behind him shoving my hands in my pocket.
"Did you enjoy dinner?" I ask him.
"I did," he replies. "I never seen a family with a chef."
"I bet," I reply. "My mom can cook but sometimes she will have a chef prepare dinner such as tonight." We walk into my room.
"My mom would love a break," he replies stopping in the center of my room. "She does all the cooking. Leftovers are the only days she got a break." I walk to my chest of draws looking for my old gym clothes.
"My dad strongly dislikes leftovers," I reply. "He likes fresh meals every day."
"I guess I can see why your mom has a chef helping out," chuckles Hinata. I laugh because he is so right. I grab my old gym uniform handing it to him.
"They are clean," I reply.
"I doubt you would shove dirty clothes in your draw Tobio," he says with amusement.
"You would be correct," I say trying not to get lost in my emotions. I want to have sex with him. Right now. I can't risk that. My dad doesn't believe in locked in doors. Even if I was in the bathroom. "You can go ahead and shower. I will be doing the same."
"Okay," he says softly. "Are your parents expecting us to stay for breakfast?"
"Fuck, I hope not," I hiss. Hinata walks over kissing my non swollen cheek.
"It's okay babe," he says. "You got this. You are stronger than you think you are." I nod my head. "Take a shower and I know you feel better afterwards." Maybe. I feel like having sex right now would really make me feel better. Hinata walks out of my room passing by my mom. She has a glass of wine in her hand. Fuck…..
"Tobio, what is going on?" she inquiries. I try not to panic. Let me feel her out. I don't want to jump to conclusions.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Why did you drop out of school this summer?" she inquiries. "Your father didn't tell me until tonight." Whew.
"I just needed a little break," I lie. Mom sips from her glass.
"We are paying for you to stay in a dorm," she replies. "This was so you could get as much done as possible and now you are confirming you are doing nothing." I wouldn't consider the Olympics nothing.
"I'm sorry," I apologize.
"I don't have a problem with you wanting a break," she replies. "You know how your father is. How could you not tell him?" Is she kidding me? She knows what a monster dad can be.
"I didn't feel comfortable doing that," I admit.
"I understand that, but you need to be a man Tobio," she replies. Be a man? He is my father. An abusive father. I don't know how to be man to someone who never listens to what I have to say. He retaliates in the worst way.
"Okay mom," I reply causing her to smile. I already know I won't be saying shit to my father unless I have to.
"You seem rather close to Hinata," she points out.
"He's my roommate," I reply. "We live together." I pull out some sleeping clothes for myself. Mom sips her wine.
"Good point," she replies. "It's very noticeable."
"I do have other friends," I reply. "I just don't see them as often."
"Not sure why since you don't have any studies," she points out.
"I don't but they do," I reply. Mom giggles.
"I forgot about that," she replies. "You know I never did the college thing." Clearly. You married dad for his money getting pregnant with me as soon as you could. "When will you be heading out tomorrow?"
"Soon as we wake," I reply. "We have to get back to campus because Hinata has a project to work on. It is not something he could work on here."
"I certainly don't want to affect his grades," says mom swaying a little. "I could cook breakfast in the morning." And here we go.
"Thanks mom but we don't have time," I reply. "We are losing this evening by staying the night. Hinata was going to pull an all nightery, but you know…."
"Oh," she says. "I see." She gives me a hug kissing my healthy cheek. "I will let you get ready for bed. Just come and grab me before you leave."
"Okay," I reply. My mom leaves out of my room closing the door. I release a deep breath. I get in the shower not believing I'm having to stay the night. At least we don't have to stay for breakfast. The shower didn't relax me at all. The bruise is appearing on my face. This one looks like it going to leave a big mark. Damnit. I climb into bed not feeling comfortable despite this being in my own bed. I hear my phone ding making me smile. I grab my phone seeing Hinata text me.
Shoyo: I love you
Tobio: I love you too
God I can't wait until I'm in his arms again. I manage to drift off to sleep after a while. I blame the emotional exhaustion of today. I awake seeing that it is 4 in the morning. I stumble into the bathroom deciding to use it while I am awake. I wonder if Hinata is sleeping okay. I open my room door seeing how dark it is in. The dim hall lights are doing nothing to help. I walk down the hall towards our guest room. I stop outside realizing I hear more than one voice inside the room.
Author's Note: Sorry for the wait! Lost a team member, busy season at my job, holidays, and I am preparing to move. So much going on!
