I lean back into Jade's comforting arms while we wait for Beck to come back. The soft melons on her chest are like snugly cushions, and I can't help but feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to feel them up close like this. "Jade? What court case is he talking about? What sort of evidence are you gathering?"

Jade let out a long sigh before turning me around to look into my eyes. "I didn't want have to tell you so soon because of your current condition. You're already dealing with too much right now. But since you asked, I'll give you a brief overview of the things we're trying to fight for. But first, you must promise me you won't freak out or do anything stupid. We can't afford to give them any more ammunition. "

Fight for? That sounds serious. I nod at her, entwining my finger with hers. "I promise, I won't. Just tell me. It may even trigger some memories for all we know."

"A lot of these information is forced out of Trina, your sister, with my scissors. Essentially, because of your inabilities to take care of yourself due to 'mental illness', you have been put under the guardianship and conservatorship of your parents. All the money from the little successes you had when you were still signed with Neutronium are now considered theirs to manage. We're trying to get these terminated, so we need to gather evidence that you can make sound decisions and take care of yourself, as well as proof that you were abused in their care. We also need to find out the initial conditions of your so-called illness that made these rulings possible. That was the main thing I needed to ask from you. But with you losing your memories and all, it doesn't bode well for us. This is why we need to get you home as soon as possible, to help you remember everything again."

"You mentioned I have a sister? Where's she now? Also here?"

Jade shakes her head. "No. To get financial support from your parents to continue school at Hollywood Arts and college funds, she stood against you as a witness that you were unable to take care of yourself, granting your parents power over you. But she was smart enough to disappear after high school. I would have stabbed her straight in her heart otherwise."

Ok, this entire situation sounds pretty complicated. I'll need to think of ways to recall as much as I can, though I'm not sure how yet. "So, I had this dream the other day. We were all on a bus together, but I need to get some names to some faces I saw. I think you can help me with that? Who is the curly haired boy with glasses and a puppet? And there's one girl with bright red hair…"

Jade takes out her phone, tapping a few buttons and scrolling through the screen. She finally stops, bringing the lit screen to my face. "This is a picture of all of us on our graduation day, which sadly doesn't have you in it. That's Beck, who you already met. This is Cat, the little redhead, and Robbie is the curly haired one with his arms around her shoulder. This is me, with purple hair extensions, and the guy beside me is André, your best friend."

The picture of five smiling people in graduation gowns I'm looking at matches the people who appeared in that bus dream. "What about a slightly tanned girl with horribly tall heels I have no idea how she walks in?"

"That's your older sister, Trina. She had already graduated when this was taken, so she's not here."

"Oh ok. So how is everybody all doing now?"

"Well, the last I knew, Cat and Robbie are in Broadway. Cat is doing very well as a live performer on the musicals, and Robbie followed her there, becoming responsible for backstage stuff. He also has his own comedy podcast on Peartunes. The both of them got into a relationship during college, and it's only a matter of time before Robbie pops the question. As for André, he got signed to Quincy Records right out of high school, and has released three albums so far, one of which has reached triple platinum status. Beck has been dating Alyssa Vaughn ever since we broke up, and has landed a few small movie roles while in college. He is going to direct his own soon with sponsorship from his future father-in-law."

Jade has a faraway look in her eyes. She had talked about everyone else except for herself. Is she hiding something? "What about you, Jade? How have you been?"

She turns to look at me, unexpected fury written all over her face. "What about me? What do you think? I haven't been able to write a single word for a script or story ever since you were gone. I tried college, but I just couldn't concentrate. I had been working two jobs, waitressing and bar-tendering to save up as much money as I could, all while chasing leads and following trail after trail to find you, running all over the country. How do you think I have been, Vega?"

A pang of intense guilt seized my chest, and I could feel salty drops leaking from my eyelids. I… screwed Jade. The person who probably cares the most about me in this entire world. "I'm sorry I brought you so much pain, Jade. You should have just forgotten about me and moved on. With your talents, you would have been just as successful as the rest of our friends, if not more so. It's because of me you couldn't do what you want in life."

Jade uses the pads of her finger to wipe my tears away, while hers begin dripping freely. She lowers her tone to a whisper. "No. I'm sorry, Tori. I should not have taken it out on you. The only thing I regret so far is not being able to protect you. Besides, if I could forget you, I would already have done so. The truth is, I can't. And I know you can't let me go either, because if you could, you would not be in this predicament today."
