This is a flashback chapter and quite short. Enjoy ^^
Flashback begins
„All the shit we had to go through just for this?" an injured Cyndaquil said while pointing at a fossile.
"We could bring this Pokémon back to life. Imagine how famous we will be Sean" said an injured Totodile.
"This will take years Toti and we don't even have the tools to do it. Anyway, lets walk home. It's dark and it's raining" said Sean who grabbed his bag and his partners arm and went into the forest.
"Do you know the way back home?" asked Toti. Sean just nodded and pulled out a small map. "Its not far from he- did you hear that?"
A rustle can be heard from the distance as suddenly an Absol jumped out.
Sean and Toti backed away a bit and noticed that their eyes weren't red, they were pitch black. Suddenly the Absol attacked Sean and clawed him right across the face. As Sean fell down and whipped his blood covered face he saw the Absol charging at him with the intend to stab him with their Horn. Before Sean could react his partner pushed him away and..
Sean got up slowly. "Why did you… n-no"
Sean watched in horror, as the horn pierced through his Partner. While the Absol scraped his Partner off the horn, he hid behind a bush and watched, as the Absol walked away.
As the air was clear, he then ran up to his partner
"TOTI"
He holds him and started to cry
"Don't…cry…" Toti said, as he handed Sean his tattered Bandana
"I-I still can save you" said Sean, as he covered the Hole on his partners body with his Bandana
"Save…yourself…."
"DON'T DIE ON ME"
But it was to late. As he listened to his last breaths, Sean held him close and cried.
After a while, Sean got up, put the Banadana of his Partner on and sighed.
"All that…"
Flashback ends
"FOR A STUPID FOSSILE" said Sean in tears as he put a bandage on Jennifer's leg
"I-I am sorry for your loss…"
"It's ok..you didn't knew"
As Sean got up, he grabbed his bag again. "I'll be back". He then went out but didn't notice that Jennifer quietly followed him. As Sean reached a small cliff, Jennifer hid behind a rock and wondered what he is doing there. Then she heard Sean speak.
"Hello Partner"
Jennifer peaked from the Rock and sees Sean talking in front a makeshift grave with a picture, a few flowers and a little plush
"My first recue was a success. It was an Eevee named Jennifer. She was injured and I healed her up. I tolled her the Story and…I had to come here"
Sean started to wipe some tears from his eyes
"She's cute…and I wish you could see her right now…"
Jennifer blushed a bit but kept listening
"The Pokémon who attacked her and her friend had the same black eyes as the Absol. Ill find out why they act so strange…and avenge your death"
Jennifer then walked up and sat next to Sean, as they both looked at the grave.
"That's him?"
"Yeah. He was an amazing guy. Helpful and nice. Cared about everyone"
As he hugged the bandana, he looked at Jennifer and smiled a bit.
"You know…there was one treasure he always wanted…and I wanted to tell him that I know where it is but…you know"
Jennifer nodded. "So, a treasure hunt?"
"The last one…for my friend…"
"Where is it located?"
"In the Quicksand Desert"
"Then let's go"
Sean looked a bit surprised "Wait you'll come with me?"
"You need a Partner, don't you?"
Sean looked down and sighed "Theres a reason i go solo. I dont want to lose another partner again. Especially someone like Toti."
Jennifer walked up to Sean and gave him a hug.
"I understand, but the desert is dangerous, adventures are more fun with someone else and you saw me fight off the Magby so I can watch my back pretty well" she said with a small giggle.
As Sean hugged her back, he sighed and then nodded "Just be close to me ok?"
Jennifer agreed as they both made their way to the Quicksand Desert
