The day had finally arrived. Chilly Phil's TV concert had finally arrived. If he was being very honest, Max felt too tired to do any dancing tonight. He had a very busy week cleaning up the whole stadium not just for tonight, but for the concerts, comedy live shows and other events that happened all week. That was busy enough without having to attend Miss Clarabelle's dance rehearsals and still getting bullied by the backup dancers and having to stand up for himself and Clarry and then practicing the songs he was given in his janitor's cupboard from the Angel of Music every night in his small apartment for the last week. He felt that he could do with a vacation and he would take one at once if he had enough money for it. But he knew the show must go on or rather he knew that was what Miss Clarabelle would say to him if he said to her that he was just too tired to do it. Then he told himself that not everyone is lucky to have an opportunity to be trained by the world's greatest dance teacher and to dance with an international pop star like Chilly Phil.

"I can see you've been working very hard, T-Rax."

That female voice spoke to Max while he was changing into his dancing outfit in the changing rooms. Like all the other dancers, he had to wear a shirt, jacket, pants and boots which were all green with colourful patches, except the boots which were all black. He looked around the room and he couldn't find anyone else beside himself. He was on his own because he had to finish cleaning the toilets before he could finally change into his dancing outfit.

"Don't worry. All of your hard work will pay off tonight if you keep it up."

"Who are you?" Max called. "Are you the Angel of Music? Hello?"

He got no reply. Then he thought maybe he could hear her, but she couldn't hear him. Or maybe she was ignoring him on purpose.

"Max?"

Max's mind stopped racing about this Angel of Music when he saw Clarry at the door.

"What are you still doing in here?" the young cow asked.

"Coming, Clarry." As he stepped forward, Max tripped over because he didn't tie his shoelaces. Once he did, he ran to join his friend.

"Were you speaking to the Angel of Music?" Clarry asked.

"Yeah, as a matter of fact," Max replied. "For the first time since she gave me those songs."

As they ran to join the other dancers, he wondered why this Angel of Music or whoever she was gave him these songs for him to practice playing electric guitar and sing them. He hadn't done it since the talent shows and the school play and musical productions in high school and hadn't kept it up with it since. Maybe she heard him when he was singing to the songs he listened to on his Walkman and then downloaded onto his iPod, which he got when it came out last year, while he cleaned the whole stadium , but he wouldn't bet a cent on it.

Max and Clarry ran past Goofy, who told them to break a leg. They both thanked him as they ran past him and joined the other dancers and Miss Clarabelle at the off-left wings. They waited for Clarabelle's instructions to go on stage. After the announcer finished the countdown and the auditorium lights went off and the stage lights came on and the rock music started to play, she gave the signal. Off they went.

"Break a leg!" Clarabelle cried.

Max and the dancers went on the stage and did their warmup dancing before the star of the concert Chilly Phil arrived. He was still as tall, handsome and stylist in his famous rainbow outfit since his big break seven years ago and he still had the moves. Then the show began when he started to dance and sing with the backup dancers.

Everyone was exhausted at the end of the first act, but more importantly they felt good about themselves, especially Max. It felt like it was yesterday, not seven years ago, when he and his dad was dancing with Powerline. He felt he hadn't lost his dancing skills.

"The time has come," the spooky female voice said to him when he was in the bathroom.

"Tell me who you are!" Max demanded. "And tell me why you are doing this!"

"You'll see," the voice said. "Now, get your electric guitar ready and don't forget to do those songs in the order I wrote."

"But what's the point of all of this?"

When he got no answer, Max went to grab his electric guitar out of his locker in the male changing rooms. As he did that, he started to think about that Angel of Music again. What with her spooky voice and nowhere to see her, he thought of her less of an angel and more of a phantom. Then he thought of the songs she wanted him to do and the electric guitar she gave him. That made him think to call her the Phantom of Rock n Roll.

When it was time for Max and the other dancers to go back on stage for the second act, they did their warmup dancing while they and the audience waited for Chilly Phil to come back on stage. He never did and everyone learned why when one of the stadium's managers Horace Horsecollar ran on the stage and to the microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he said to the audience. "I regret to announce that Chilly Phil is not very well and cannot continue to perform. We are all very sorry for having to cancel the concert very early. Please leave the building in a calm and quiet way. Thank you."

But, of course, the audience was very angry about the concert having to end early and they did a lot of booing and loud complaining as they turned to leave the auditorium.

Max wondered if this was his moment this Phantom was talking about. He ran to the microphone, started to play his electric guitar and started to sing The Ships That Have Sailed, the first song on the list the Phantom gave him.

As he continued the song, he saw that the audience were no longer leaving the auditorium but not getting back into their seats either because they were dancing with him. He noticed that they were dancing livelier and happier than they did during Chilly Phil's first act. When it came to his guitar solo, he looked to see that the backup dancers were still with him and dancing to the song. Then he noticed that even the musicians and the TV crew that were here for Chilly Phil was still here and for him.

When he finished the song, Max was greeted by thunderous applause. In fact, according to his hearing, he didn't think the audience applauded this loud and long for Chilly Phil's first act.

"Thank you," he said, as he bowed to the audience. "Thank you very much."
