The day finally arrived. Max was nervous of going on stage tonight while he peeked behind the curtain to see people, including most of his friends, filling up the auditorium up to see T-Rax in his musical debut, but he had no choice and he prayed that Ludwig's trap to capture the Phantom would work. Then the auditorium lights went down and the overture to the music started. Then Max went on stage to be greeted by thunderous applause before he even started his first song.

Then, set in a completely black background with only light shining around him, Max started singing about his character's terrible past – about losing his mother, having a loving yet struggling father to provide for himself and his son, being bullied at school and failing at everything he tried to do. As he paused for applause, Max wondered if the Phantom used his life story as the inspiration for not just this song but for the whole musical.

Then as the dark background turned into a dark forest, Max sung the next song, which was about his character feeling lonely in this world and wondering what his purpose was. Then came the third song where his character hears the female lead for the first time ever about where to find happiest and inner peace within himself. This song was the first one where Max's character didn't sing, but he did have to look like he was following that voice.

Then the fourth song arrived and this was when Max's character meets the female character for the first time. Though she was wearing a hooded robe over her, he could tell by her voice that it was the Phantom playing that role. She sang about her being from another world and will help him find his purpose in his life and telling him to join her back to her world.

The fifth song was the first duet of the characters Max and the Phantom were playing while they were standing in a rainbow beam light in a dark background. The beam was meant to be the beam for the characters to enter the female character's world. While they were doing their duet, Max discovered that his right arm was cuffed to the Phantom's left arm. Then the Phantom tried to walk off stage with Max. This part wasn't part of the musical. Then Max realized that the Phantom didn't create this musical for art or money, but to capture him. As he tried to resist going with the Phantom, he hoped the plan of his friends would work soon. He couldn't see either Ludwig, his dad or Roxanne backstage, but he hoped his best efforts to slow the Phantom down would work.

"Give it up, T-Rax," the Phantom warned. "I know what you and your friends are trying to do, but it won't work. There's nothing you can say or do that will –"

"Oh, shut up!" Max snapped and yanked the mask off the Phantom. He didn't realize what he did until he saw the mask in his hands and everyone in the auditorium were screaming their heads off. He would have apologized but the only reason he didn't was because the last time he tried it made no difference. He couldn't even try to look away from the Phantom's glaring face because she wouldn't let him.

"You've really done it now, T-Rax." The hippo said that so quietly because she was that angry.

"All right, you!"

The Phantom and Max turned to see the audience with Peg leading among them.

"You've caused enough damage already! Now, let Max go!"

The Phantom just laughed. "Or what? You're going to try that trick your friend Professor Von Drake is setting up?" She revealed something in her hand.

Max recognized it. "Did you steal that from him?"

"No," the Phantom replied. "I made another copy. Let's see if this works, shall we?" She pressed the red button on her device.

Then everyone saw Ludwig crash onto the stage and then a metal cage appear out of nowhere and around him.

The Phantom smiled smugly. "Just as I thought." Then, without even turning around, she grabbed something in her hand. It was a fishing hook. "This is, what I heard, is called 'the perfect cast'." Then she pulled the fishing line.

After a few crashes and bangs, everyone saw Goofy crash land on the stage.

"Dad!" Max cried. "Are you okay?"

"Well, if he is," the Phantom said, "he won't be for much longer."

"What do you mean?" Max asked.

"I hope you've said goodbye to everyone you love here," the Phantom said, as she continued to drag Max away.

All of Max's family and friends rushed to grab the Phantom and rescue him, but flames roaring up behind the Phantom stopped them.

When the flames finally stopped, everyone ran and couldn't see either Max or the Phantom. They didn't leave any trace.

"I'll check for any trap doors," Clarry said, as he looked on the stage.

"Someone, check backstage!" Clarabelle ordered.

"Someone, check the walls in the auditorium!" Peg ordered.

"Oh, I wouldn't waste your time looking for something when that's not even there at all."

Everyone looked around to find the Phantom as they heard her speak, but they were unsuccessful.

"I hate to break up the fun, but it's time to close my musical with a bang. Good night, all of you."

Everyone wondered what she meant. Then they felt some rumbling below their feet and heard some cracking. Everyone looked up to see not just the chandelier falling down this time, but parts of the ceilings as well.

"The whole building's collapsing!" Clarry cried.

"Clear the building!" Peg yelled.

Everyone ran to the doors, dodging the ceiling parts that fell, but they were completely locked. Goofy tried to break one door down with an axe, but the only whack he did sent him flying away to the other side.

"It's metal behind that door!" he told everyone.

They had a look and saw that he was right – behind that wooden door was a metal block.

"All of the other doors must have metal blocks behind them!" Clarry cried. "This must be all of the Phantom's work. And years in the making as well, by the looks of it."

Then the walls started to rumble.

"Everyone, get into the middle!" Clarabelle ordered.

Everyone got in the middle, but they were still not clear from the falling walls on all sides. All they could do was huddle each one and scream as they awaited their fate.

All Max could do was stand while still being wrapped up in rope in the boat the Phantom rowed in the underground river and hear the screams from his family and friends.

Then the roof above them rumbled a bit with small debris falling and then the screams finally stopped. Max glared at the Phantom.

"Don't look at me like that, T-Rax," she said. "I wouldn't have done this if you hadn't disobeyed my orders. Their deaths are not on me. They are on you."

That shook Max to the core. As the Phantom continued to row the boat, he just felt guilty for all the lives that were now unfairly gone.
