Max had been stuck in chains on the sun deck since the voyage started. That was all he could do, but he didn't really care about it. He didn't even care about where he was now or where he was going to or what the Phantom was going to do to him later. He didn't care about any of those things because he still felt guilty for being responsible for the deaths of his family and his friends.
Then he heard something coming behind him. He slowly turned his head to see the Phantom approaching him.
"How do you like the voyage so far, T-Rax?" the hippo asked.
All he could do was glare at her. He was too angry to even make a single noise, even an angry grunt.
"I can't tell you how to feel, but frankly I don't care at all," the Phantom said. "All I care about is your legendary career that awaits for you, whether you want it or not. All I hope about your feelings is that they will not interfere with it. I chose you to do this because I see something in you that I never saw, still don't or ever will see in anyone else, not even the biggest stars in rock history. You'd better not disappoint me, T-Rax, because if you do, I will make you wish that I didn't have to get rid of you when it's late. Understand? Good." Then the Phantom just walked away, with Nutsy walking behind her.
It had been five minutes since the Phantom left and Max had done nothing except to remain silent and imagine the horrors that menacing hippo had in store for him. Then Max heard more footsteps approaching him. He turned around to see a hooded figure approach him. He assumed this was the Phantom coming to torment him more. Then one hand from that figure covered up his lips. Then the other hand took the hood off and then it moved to her own lips.
Trying very hard to keep quiet, Max was so overjoyed to see that Roxanne had survived that terrible disaster and was unharmed. He was delighted to see the other figure who was none other than Michaela herself and had a set of keys. He wanted to ask if all the others had survived the stadium collasping and how they did it, but he remained silent as they tried to find which key would free him.
After trying many keys, they only had one left. Everyone prayed as Michaela fitted it into the padlock and it fitted this time. Feeling pleased about it, she started to turn the key. Then she stopped when she, Max and Roxanne heard applause coming from behind them. They turned to see it was coming from the Phantom. She was applauding in a mockingly tone. Her AI robots were standing behind her.
"Bravo, ladies," the hippo said. "Such spirited actions. That and surviving the stadium destruction. You guys are very good."
"Look, Phantom," Michaela said, as she approached the Phantom.
"What happened to 'ma'am', Michaela?" the hippo demanded as she approached her.
"That ship sailed away for good when you kidnapped Max and tried to kill us and all of our friends! And don't say it was purely business and nothing personal because nothing could be further wrong!"
"I'd be careful with what you're saying if I were you," warned the Phantom.
"And we're not leaving without him!" Michaela continued.
"Even if that means staying with him? Very well." The Phantom snapped her fingers.
Then Max, Roxanne and Michaela noticed that her AI robots weren't behind her any longer. Then they learned that they were behind them when loose wires were wrapped around them. Then they were brought to their mother.
"What must we do to get a little bit of compassion out of you?" Michaela asked.
"Why should I?" The Phantom demanded. "Why should I when THE WORLD SHOWED NO COMPASSION TO ME! NOT EVEN FROM MY OWN MOTHER! She was the only family I ever had in my life and she never ever once gave me a single hug or a kiss! The only thing she gave in my life is desertion and left me to fend for myself! With no education, no money, no friends and no future!" Then she sighed. "But I'll tell you what. We'll play a game. To start off, I want Roxanne to approach me."
"What is the name of this game?" Michaela asked.
"What type of game is it?" Max asked.
"What are the rules?" Roxanne asked.
"What is the prize of this game?" Screwy asked. All he got were hard stares from the other robots.
"You'll all learn while playing," the Phantom said. "Now, come on, Roxanne. The first step of this game is that you approach me."
After Botty released her, Roxanne sighed as she nervously approached the Phantom.
"The quicker you play and win this game, Roxanne," the hippo said, "the quicker you can leave with T-Rax and Michaela. You have my word."
Roxanne continued to approach the Phantom. Then she didn't feel the surface of deck beneath under her feet anymore and she started to fall into a hole.
"ROXANNE!" Max cried.
He would have run to help her if only he wasn't in chains and guarded by Screwy and Michaela couldn't help her because Nutsy held her down and tied her up with wires.
Everyone saw that the giant hole Roxanne had fallen into wasn't the jacuzzi because that was only fifteen metres away. The hole she had fallen in was the width of a jacuzzi but deep as a wishing well. As if that wasn't stressful enough for her, her hands and her feet got manacled to the wooden wall around her. Then she felt her shoes and shorts getting very wet. She saw that the hole was filling up with water.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, PHANTOM?" Max demanded. "LET HER GO!"
"I'm afraid I can't do that, T-Rax," the Phantom said, approaching him. "No one can do that except only one person. And that person is you. You can save her by serving me and becoming my husband."
Max gave her a 'what?' look, as she grabbed the keys and used them to release him from the chains. She grabbed his arm as she pulled him up.
"But if you refuse me, you'll only send your dear friend to her death and regret it forever while you become merely my slave. This is the choice. This is the point of no return!" She threw him away as she released him.
