There was a bit of confusion about the kids' names so I'll clear that up now. The names are first and middle names. For an example, Michael (Mike) has the middle name Adam. Thanks for the reviews! :)
Just a reminder that the Bonanza characters do not belong to me, I'm just using them for the sake of the story.
Anyways, enjoy!
...
Since it was rare for her to have this much time to herself, Melanie decided to work on hemming one of Aviana's dresses. She was a very well known dress maker in her town, and often sold her handmade dresses to people in the town. She'd go talk to Michael later, after she'd calmed down a bit. 'If I go talk to him now, it'll just turn into a yelling match.'
Melanie's silence was short lived, as ten minutes later, Michael came marching down the stairs.
"Mike, I never said you could come back downstairs," Melanie said very calmly. "Please go back up to your room until I say you can come back down."
"COME ON! I'VE ALREADY BEEN UP THERE FOR FORTY FIVE MINUTES!"
"And evidently, that wasn't enough if you still haven't stopped behaving like that. Yelling at me will only make your punishment longer. Go back upstairs. Now."
"AGHHHHHHHH!" Michael screamed as he ran back upstairs to his room. This time, he didn't care how upset his mom would get. Once he was inside his room, he slammed it closed as hard as he possibly could.
In the Cartwright household, this was an ultimate form of disrespect. Not only was he causing a huge noise, but Michael had been warned several times to not slam the doors. His parents often hinted that it was disrespectful to not only them, but also to the house.
Michael regretted slamming the door as soon as he heard the noise, before the even realized that a piece of the door frame had splintered off due to the force. The next thing he heard were angry footsteps coming up the stairs, and he knew he'd messed up big time.
"MICHAEL! ADAM! CARTWRIGHT!" Melanie used his full name, getting louder with each syllable, as she marched up the stairs.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Michael squeaked, propping himself against the door. "It was an accident! I promise I won't do it again!"
At this point, Melanie was at Michael's door. She tried to open it, but soon realized that he was blocking it from opening. She decided to try to be calm with him, as fighting with him would only make things harder.
"Michael, you need to open that door right now."
"No!" Mitchel cried.
Michael, you need to open your door. If it's not open within a minute, you will be in even deeper trouble."
With that, Melanie left her son's door, and went into hers. She hated what she was about to do, but at this point, she felt it was more than warranted. She walked to her dresser and opened the top drawer. From there, she grabbed her wooden hairbrush.
When Melanie got back to her son's bedroom, his door was open a crack. She smiled, knowing her son had finally listened to what she said. Now, it was time for the hard part.
