Here is part 2 of chapter 3. also happy veterans day if you're in the united states.(original written by professor ass spiders. Rio made by 20th Century fox/Fox animation)

Instinct took over Tiago as he flew away from the corpse.

But due to Tiago's injury on the wing and his vow to only fly when he finds it necessary.

Exhaustion forced him to the ground.

He was nowhere near the door.

The corpse was limping towards him.

He ran as fast as his exhausted body could let him.

No matter how fast he ran, the body seemed to always catch up with him.

He got to the door. He banged and screamed for help.

The corpse was getting closer to him.

He kept banging at the door despite the pain on his talons.

"Tiago."

He turned around looking at the corpse.

"Please don't hurt me." he pleaded to his mother's corpse. If she was here to punish him for failing to stop his family from flying around the jungle then he deserved it. He failed everyone. He failed Bia. He failed Carla. He failed his parents.

"I'm not here to hurt you."

"What?" Tiago was confused. He was not being punished.

"I just want to talk to you."

Tiago probably should be listening to his instincts telling him not to talk to His mother but it's been days since he last heard her voice. Besides the scream she gave off when she was unexpectedly tackled to the ground was still in his head.

Tiago and Jewel were currently near a stream of water the fake jungle has.

Despite calming down, Tiago isn't comfortable being around her.

Jewel had blood everywhere. Her right wing was ripped in half. Nerves and veins swinging around with the remaining bones being it's only support. Her lower mandible was missing pieces, not too big to where he could see her tongue but enough to know the difference.

Chucks of her neck were missing, exposing the windpipe, larynx and various veins and tendons. Metallic red painted the neck wound. It was a gruesome sight.

Does this mean that Bia and his mother are going to die? Is this their way of saying goodbye as they depart to Ara's kingdom?

"A-ar-are yo-you dying." tears instantly formed as he couldn't apologize to Bia for everything he did to her. Now, he can't say sorry to his mother.

"No. they're still alive." she said

"Then how are you here if you're alive?"

"Think of me as a ghost of Christmas." Before her children were born. Jewel and Blu went to Minnesota along with Linda and Tulio. During their stay, Blu wrote on paper on what movie to watch and it was the Christmas carol. She didn't want to watch the Christmas carol. She out-right hated it but she couldn't say no to Blu. She still didn't like the movie but still put on a smile for him.

How she wishes this didn't happen to them.

"What do you mean by that?"

Was she saying she's a phantom or did Laerta hear his request for them to wake up?

"I'm your mother but Rafael wasn't there to save us. This is what we would have looked like if We've died."

"We?" Tiago was confused at first. What did she mean by we? Then it hit him.

The mutilated corpse of Bia he saw in the hallway.

"I'm not the only one here and some of us won't forgive you."

"Who?" Tiago was hoping it wasn't his father or Bia. He deserved the hate if it came from Carla. He stood there while she was being killed in a sadistic way. If the harpy saw him and still crushed her. He couldn't forgive himself.

Tears were forming.

"Tiago, are you ok?" Jewel asked concerned. Yes, she's dead and can't hug him but Tiago is still his son.

"I stood there" Jewel was afraid this would happen, the guilt of watching someone you love being killed in front when you think you could've saved them.

She knew the pain when she saw her mother trapped in a hollow. It took blu's comforting words to realize if she tried to save her mother. She would have died too.

"Tiago, there was nothing you could do."

"I could have done something." Tiago should have run up to the harpy and tried to scratch at his talons.

More tears fell down.

"Instead, I just watched."

Jewel walked closer to her son.

"They were predators, Tiago. There was nothing you could have done without putting yourself in danger." Jewel knew this wouldn't convince him. It would take time for him to heal from this.

Worst part is that she can't hug him without him passing through her body.

Tiago was still sobbing from the guilt.

Jewel however, knew what to do to fix it at least for a short amount of time.

"Tiago, I can't stay here. So, please listen to me. There was nothing you could have done to stop them."

Tiago stopped crying.

"Go to room 411."

as she said those words, she was ascending to Ara's kingdom.

Tiago stood there in shock as she passed through the roof of the fake jungle.

If his mother doesn't make it, then he can at least honor her last wish.

Tiago always went to the room his family was in. Hoping that by some miracle his family would wake up.

Maybe that miracle would happen

Bia had been running for what she felt eternally.

Whatever was chasing her didn't make no sound, even it's steps were silenced and somehow, it managed to silence everything that alerts it's presence.

That wasn't the worst part. She was missing her left wing. She literally can't fly away from the predator, so she ran. And kept running for possibly days.

No clear destination in your head.

So here she is exhausted. She hadn't slept for days, the last time she did sleep, the monster found her and gave her a bloody gash in her head.

It still hadn't stopped bleeding.

She lost sight on one of her eyes from the blood on her head. But she can't give up, she's so close to her family's house.

Her hopes were crushed as she got to the nest.

The monster was there.

And it saw her.

She had to run.

The monster walked towards her. It always did that. Does it do it to taunt her or just to toy with her. She'll never know.

She lost it by hiding in multiple bushes.

But the monster already won. She can't run forever and it destroyed the only thing she felt was safe.

She can't save herself. She'll die either by that thing or other predators. She was going to step out and accept her fate when she saw her father.

Her mangled, decaying father. His chest was scrunched up. His face was missing muscles, showing only bone and had multiple large lacerations. His right wing was completely gone but it was still spewing blood. One of his legs was dislocated and missing talons.

She doesn't remember what happened to her family. If her father was like this, does it mean she was the only survivor.

Her father pointed his only wing to where she was originally going. She saw a light near the broken home she called her home. She doesn't believe in ghosts but right now, she was desperate for this nightmare to end.

She had a plan. Hopefully, this would work.

The monster was still there but it was avoiding the light.

She can't hurt it but she can distract it.

Before she got to the nest. She picked up some rocks.

She threw some of the rock's to a bush.

The monster ran towards the bush. This was a bad thing, if she gets spotted. The monster probably won't hesitate to kill her.

She ran to another bush and threw another rock. She's keeping some in case she needs it.

She repeated this til she got near the light. She decided to risk it.

She ran towards the light.

The monster heard her.

A monstrous roar erupted.

She turned around and she got pinned.

Without thinking, She threw the sharpest rocks she had towards the monster's eyes.

the monster talons let go of Bia as the rock destroyed its eyes. blood fell down on Bia as she saw she hit both of the monster's eyes, it seemed the rock didn't just damaged the eye, it seemed to completely destroyed it, so it couldn't see.

Eye for a eye.

Taking advantage, she ran towards the light.

This time she got towards the light.

The monster opened what she assumed was its mouth but as soon as the mouth got close, it erupted in flames.

If she hadn't been chased by this thing, she probably would've felt sorry for it.

Memories were flooding back, reading with her dad, singing with Carla and spending time with Tiago.

Finally, Bia woke up.

Well, I should probably tell everyone who read the original why the ghosts are different in this book. in my head, I like to think the ghosts in the original story were real and were trying to comfort Tiago considering well, he was the sole survivor but due to the massive guilt of him running away, he hallucinated the hateful words. basically, ghosts were real but Tiago's guilt made them seem like they hated him instead of what they were actually saying. have fun with the extra sadness.
