Monaco:
Three weeks Later:
"Well, the deal is done. Took a lot longer than I thought it would, but we got it!" Tony said, smiling as he threw his arm around my shoulder, as we made our way out of the place.
I wrinkled my nose at the smell of his cologne before nodding.
"How are you feeling, by the way? I heard you got some food poisoning the other night and have been feeling sick since..." He asked me as all three of us made our way out of the building.
"Oh. Fine but I think I may have developed a case of hyperosmia…" I groaned.
"That bad, huh?" He asked as we made our way into the car to head to the hotel.
I nodded, groaning as I lowered the window.
"So, have you spoken to Barnes lately?" He asked me, casually.
"Not since I poured the iced coffee over his head three weeks ago." I replied, frostily.
He nodded, biting his cheek, "Why did you do that?" He asked, amused.
"He made a dickheaded comment. My head was already hurting because of the meeting we had had that morning, not to mention Spencer made it worse when he butted into our conversation and... I slapped Spencer, and threw my coffee at Barnes." I said, wincing.
"Oh yeah, Gibson, so I should probably mention that he got caught plowing the floor manager, he and the manager got fired for the no fraternization clause." Tony said, as he looked up from his phone.
"Wait, he slept with Barry?" I asked, scrunching my nose.
"Yeah, apparently he swings both ways. Who would have thought? On another note. The house, which was in your name, is now yours again. To do as you wish, kid." He replied.
I nodded, looking away, before getting an idea. "Can you please sell it and whatever is left in there for me?" I asked.
He looked up, scrunching his nose for a moment before nodding. "Sure. I'll get right on that." He said.
"Great." I sighed, closing my eyes and leaning my head onto the seat.
"Are you sure about that though, Tiny? You loved that brownstone. It took you years to be able to find it, and another just to get it… it was your first real accomplishment as an adult..." Tony pointed out.
"I did, but I can't go back to live there. Especially knowing that Spencer may have taken about anyone in there and done who knows what… I need to start over…" I replied looking out the window.
Pepper nodded in understanding, "I'll help with that…" She added.
"Thanks, Pep." I whispered.
"Anytime, babe. You already know, I've got your back." She said, as grabbed my hand.
"Thank you. For everything. Honestly I think being here was exactly what I needed. So, what's next on the schedule?" I asked.
"Well, we have all earned some very much needed time off, especially you. I can't thank you enough for coming with Pepper and me and helping us with all of this. So, we'll be taking off the next two weeks." He said, smiling
"Why do I feel like you're about to say something I won't like?" I asked, lifting my head.
"Because I wasn't finished…." He replied, with a 'duh' expression on his face. "Then we'll be coming back for another two weeks to finish with all of the proceedings. Does that sound good to you?" He asked.
"Do I have a choice?" I asked, with a groan as the car pulled to a stop.
"Nope. We need you here in case there is a problem. You're the best at what you do. There's no doubt about it, and you know I only work with the best." He said.
"Tony, just because I happen to be good with technology, and I am a good practicing lawyer, doesn't mean I am the best out there." I muttered as we made our way to our respective rooms.
"Oh, you are. Trust me. Who happened to find the loophole in the contract Vista Corp was trying to sneak in? I had two other lawyers, who happen to be considered good at their jobs, to do the same as you and that loophole flew over their heads." Tony pointed out.
"They would have found it eventually…" I countered.
"Yes, but I would have been out six to eight million by then. Instead we have gained that and more, and that's all thanks to you, Miss. Barton, and for that you'll be getting a gracious bonus, by the way." He said.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll be ready to go in an hour." I threw over my shoulder as I walked into my room.
"We'll be ready." Pepper called as she walked into theirs.
"Good." I murmured, as I shut the door behind myself.
Tony had all of our things sent to be dry cleaned two days before, so everything was nice and folded in my bag already. In reality I just wanted to be alone.
My head was hurting from the olfactory sensory overload.
My sense of smell had grown delicate, and was beginning to affect me.
Suddenly I couldn't stomach eating sushi or going anywhere near sushi restaurants. The thought of raw anything made my stomach churn.
Other things were beginning to affect me well. I suspected it was jet lag, at first, but it's been more than two weeks and my exhaustion still hasn't gone away.
Which made me wonder what it could possibly be that has me like this...
After confining in Pepper, she made me promise to go to the doctor as soon as I got a chance once we got back home.
For now, I decided to put all thoughts on the back burner, and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
I showered quickly, before changing into a pair of mint green pants before slipping on my black cardigan, and a pair of black ankle boots.
After finishing getting ready, I folded and slid my clothes into the gallon zip up bag before dropping it into my luggage bag along with my shoes.
Just as I finished checking around the room when I heard a knock at my door.
I ignored it, making sure that everything including my passport, and charger were in my bag, before zipping up both bags before finally heading to open the door.
Tony and Pepper stood there, with their bags waiting.
"Did you fall in the shower, shortstack?" He asked, teasingly.
"No, you asshole, I was doing a onceover of my room to check that I wasn't leaving anything behind." I replied, with an eye roll.
"Alright come on, shorty. It's time to go home." He said as he grabbed my bag and Pepper's.
"Is he supposed to—?" I began to ask before Pepper snorted and shook her head at me.
"Why is he doing that then?" I asked, confused.
"I don't know. Let him though. It's better for us this way." She said as she pulled me along.
