I stood next to the door, suddenly feeling my forehead dew with cold sweat.
"I'm going to regret this." I whispered, trying to step back only for Bucky to wrap an arm around me, pinning me to his side.
"Oh, it's not going to be that bad, Button. Come on, humor me, please?" He asked, giving me the puppy dog face.
I scoffed, "You fucking suck…" I groaned, pushing past him and walking towards the front desk.
"Hello, welcome to St. Theresa's Urgent Care. What's your reason for visiting?" The nurse asked politely.
"Yes, I was away on a business trip… I had something that didn't agree with me, and I have been throwing up ever since." I replied.
She nodded, typing away what I was saying before pulling out a small tablet and handing it to me. "I'll need your ID or driver's license, and insurance card. Fill out this questionnaire, and sign. Bring it back once you're done and the doctor will see you then." She instructed.
I sighed nodding as I made my way to an empty seat in the back of the room.
Bucky followed me, sitting down next to me as I began to fill out all of my information, and the questionnaire.
"What's this?" He asked, raising a brow.
"I'm filling out the paperwork.". I murmured, clicking away.
"What happened to using good old paper?" He asked, scrunching up his nose.
"Technology has advanced… this is easier than having to file it away." I said, as I got to the one question that made my blood run cold.
Bucky didn't notice. "What happens when the system goes down?" He asked.
I shook my head before slipping out my cell phone and pulling up the calendar, and began calculating.
My period was about a week and a half before I got home from England. I slept with Bucky on the first weekend of the month and it is now… Okay, there is no reason to panic.
I had to be wrong. Bucky will confirm.
"Bucky…do you remember the date that we— *clears throat*— by any chance?" I asked, shakingly.
"Almost a month ago?" He replied, confused.
I sighed, shaking. "Thanks. Nevermind then…" I whispered.
There was no way. I was wrong.
"Why? What's wrong, Bunny?" He asked me.
"I, ugh, I need to go to the bathroom… I'll be back. Watch my stuff, please, ." I said as I got up and rushed to the bathroom.
I could feel myself begin to panic as I locked the door behind me.
With shaking hands I went to the sink to splash my face with cold water as I tried to calm down.
The cold water calmed me, but only slightly, before I dried it and went back out.
Bucky was looking at the information when I walked back out, frowning.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I asked, smiling as he looked up.
"Oh, I was just trying to help you fill this out… I don't think I did much, only answered a few questions on the family history, and a few others." He replied, handing it back to me.
"Thank you." I whispered, smiling as I realized he only answered the family history section, along with the drugs, drinking and dietary questions.
"I only answered the things I know…" He softly said, leaning close to see.
I nodded as I went back to the place I was in. Typing in the date of my last menstrual, before moving onto the next portion of questions.
When I finished everything. I checked the section that Bucky had done to find he had done it correctly.
My mother passed away shortly after I moved back home from ovarian cancer. My father died of a heart attack a few weeks later due to complications.
My family didn't have a history of anything beside breast and ovarian cancer on my mother's side.
Making me a possible carrier. Or having the possibility of having either later in life.
Once I finished, I stood up and returned the tablet before heading back to my seat, leaning my head back on the wall, before closing my eyes.
"Can I ask you a question…?" I heard Bucky say.
"Go ahead…" I whispered, with my eyes closed.
"Did you mean every word you told me that night?" He asked me.
I sighed, opening my eyes, before turning to look him in the eye. "Of course, I did. Otherwise I wouldn't have slept with you, dummy." I replied, smiling.
"I'm sorry, Bunny." He said after a moment.
"It's alright, James… Don't worry, we can be friends if that's what you want. I won't push you for more. I've been there already. I don't want to get hurt by opening myself only to find that you've decided you don't want anything…" I replied.
He stared at me before nodding in response.
"Ariana Barton?" A nurse called from a doorway.
I stood up, slipping my phone into my bag before grabbing it and making my way towards the nurse.
"I'll wait right here for you, Bunny." Bucky called after me.
I turned, giving him a nod before I followed the nurse through the door, and down a wide hall, before walking into the room she led me to.
