Sometime later, I heard giggling from somewhere in the room.
"Shh…you'll wake up the Berenstain Bears…" Becky said, laughing quietly.
"Nah, they've been asleep since they got back from the doctor's appointment sometime before noon. Came in here and started watching a movie. They've been asleep since that first movie." Sam muttered back, loudly.
I moved back, only to feel Bucky's arms tighten his hold on me. "No... stay..." He mumbled.
"Awww… look she's getting a little bump." Becky cooed
"Bump, my ass." I groaned, as I felt Bucky begin to chuckle.
"Oh shit! How the hell do you keep hearing us?" Sam asked.
"You two have loud ass mouths and I'm a light sleeper..." I groaned, as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
Bucky continued to chuckle as I groaned, and slowly tried to sit up and turn to look at him frowning.
"How long have you been up?" I asked him.
"Twenty minutes. I just didn't feel like getting up." He replied, as he moved one of his arms to the back of his head. "I felt too comfortable…" He groaned.
"So, you heard what I said then?" Becky asked, pulling a nervous face and taking a step back.
"Yes, I did, you little shit. And if what I heard is actually correct and true, and that causes our parents to come after me for this, you're not only gonna get your ass kicked, I'll let Arianna do it herself." Bucky said, lifting his head to look at her, with a challenging expression.
I frowned, looking between them as Bucky sat up, pulling me to his side, as he did.
I sighed, turning to look at Bucky, looking at his eyes before biting my lip.
"Bine, ce se întâmplă Bucky?" I asked him in Romanian, crossing my arms over my chest, wincing at the soreness. (Alright, what's going on Bucky?)
He turned sharply towards me, before licking his lips, a smirk appearing on his lips as he looked at me.
"Le-a spus părinților mei despre noi. Acum, ei cred că ne căsătorim." He replied, coolly. (She told my parents about us. Now, they think we're getting married.)
"Oh right. I forgot that they both speak Romanian." Becky muttered, backing away.
I almost laughed, before realizing what he had told me. "Rebecca Julia Barnes…" I groaned out as I moved to get up, only for Bucky to tighten his hold on me slightly.
"I didn't mean to! I swear! My mom was grilling me about something and it sort of just slipped out!" She cried out, hiding behind Sam just as Steve walked in.
Bucky sighed, before looking at me, "I'll call them later and get this straightened out, don't worry about it." He said, reassuringly, rubbing small circles on my side.
"No, I'll call your mom…" I said as I got up, and walked past everyone to the kitchen where I left my bag.
I quickly pulled out my phone, sliding my finger across the screen, before going to my contacts and finding the correct one before sliding my finger across the screen again as I slowly made my way up the stairs.
"Hello?"
"Mrs. Barnes, hi. It's Arianna." I softly said as I walked into my room.
"Arie, oh my goodness, I was just thinking about you! How have you been, dear?" She asked, happily. "Don't think I didn't notice you calling me, 'Mrs.Barnes', I already told you it's Winnie." She added lightly, chastising me.
"Right. I forgot about that. I've been a little under the weather, but I'm doing much better now. How have you and the family been?" I asked, as I sat down on the bed, leaning back onto my arm, and swinging my legs in the air over the edge.
"Oh, sweetheart, we've been great. Just great. So, Becky tells me that you and my boy have finally decided to take your relationship to the next level. Is it true, sweetheart?" She asked, excitedly.
"Well, yes, it is. But we only just started dating two months ago." I replied as Bucky walked in, and made his way to sit in the armchair in the corner of the room with a concerned look on his face.
"Wait, so you two aren't engaged?" She asked, disappointed.
I bit my lip, trying not to laugh at how disappointed she sounded.
Bucky stared at me anxiously.
"Hang on, Bucky just walked in. He wants to speak to you." I said, shoving the phone towards him.
He narrowed his eyes at me, before lifting the phone to his ear. 'What the hell?' he mouthed.
"H-Hey mom." He answered, as he reached over and squeezed my knee a little hard as I groaned and laid back with sigh.
"No, she's spending Thanksgiving with her brother and his wife's family this year." He explained with an eye roll.
"She'll be there the next day." He sighed, "Yes, I'm picking her up myself." He groaned with another eye roll.
"What?!" I gasped, frowning in confusion.
"Shut the hell up..." He whispered to me, before turning his attention back to the phone call as I continued to gap at him.
"Yes, well, Rebecca is full of shit. Bet she didn't tell you she and Steve have been playing hide the zucchini for the past two years, did she? How convenient of her to forget that bit of information..." He replied, causing me to laugh at his unamused expression.
"Oh? Exactly, see? No, don't call Aunt Gladys, she's a major gossip! Mother, we're not engaged. We've only been going out for two months. Oh, for crying out loud! Stop with the dramatics... Mom, you are not going to die if we don't give you another grandchild by the end of the year..." He groaned.
He shook his head at me, smirking before sighing.
"No." He said, groaning again. "Look, I have a work call to make, so I'll call you later myself." He said, looking done at his wrist.
"Yes. I—I love you too, ma. See— see you next week." He promised as he hung up and tossed the phone to me
"Don't say it. I don't want to hear it." He said, shaking his head at me.
