Chapter 3: Meetings and Sparring
A/N: I know I haven't done this for this story yet but real quick I wanna give a shoutout to someone special. I have a friend betaing this for me and he is doing a really amazing job. He asks me about it everyday and doesn't stop giving me suggestions for what to do. Once Naruto was dressed for the meeting in formal robes he left out his front door. He was met by members of Konoha Anbu ready to escort him to the meeting. He felt like royalty right then the weight of his upcoming position sinking in. He kind of was royalty now being next in line to rule Uzugakure.
He recognized one of the Anbu to be unmistakably Shisui. He was dressed in standard Anbu gear. A shirtless black armored shirt whit slim and mobile armored pants. He wore the mask of a raven. On his shoulder impressively was the mark of an Anbu captain. He smiled at him and he nodded back with a thumbs up. He was led to a large conference room that was heavily guarded. On the inside he saw a lot of people he didn't know though he knew the type having sat in on meetings like this in Uzu before.
There was the Hokage of course, next to him was his grandfather, then to the left of Hiruzen was what was obviously the shinobi council made up of the major clan heads, one of whom largely resembled Shisui so he must be the Uchiha and one who was just like Kiba with the same tattoos so she must be the Inuzuka.
After the shinobi came the obvious civilian council decked out in finery and jewels; most were fat and reeked of perfume. Naruto took a seat next to his grandfather observing the looks being given to them by the civilians. They seemed hostile towards them and Naruto had an idea as to why.
"Thank you for joining us Naruto. My apprenticed Hokage in training unfortunately is out on a mission right now otherwise I think you would have gotten along well. He is a prodigy in the sealing arts much like yourself. Hopefully you shall get the chance soon to meet," Hiruzen greeted.
Naruto inclined his head in acknowledgment. The meeting proceeded onwards of internal matters for a while Naruto and his grandfather listening intently to the dribble until the real topic of today's meeting came up.
"So how goes the war effort Hiruzen," the Uchiha leader, Fugaku inquired. "Not well, unfortunately. We have taken hits from all sides and the only ally we have right now is Suna though their aid comes slowly being so far away," Hiruzen informed.
The civilians all stared at the Uzumakis intently. "Please Lord Uzukage. Won't you help us? If this proceeds the way it has been then Konoha could fall," they pleaded at him, still looking hateful for the neutrality of Uzu so far.
"My mind so far has not changed," Uzukage started, to which everyone's faces fell. "However, soon the decision shall not be up to me. As soon as we return to Uzugakure I shall be stepping down as the Uzukage and my grandson, Naruto, here shall be taking my place. Thus it will be his decision on whether or not we shall act," he pronounced.
They all turned to Naruto who nodded in his understanding. They looked hopeful for a good decision. Naruto stood and began to speak. "Before coming here I knew little about our allies, the Leaf having never been here or even met someone personally from here. Since we arrived I have had our Anbu scouting out and reporting to me the state of your village and the strength of your shinobi and I have to say I am impressed.
I have spent my own time personally with one Shisui Uchiha as well and I am also impressed. Though before I make my decision about whether or not Uzu shall aid you I require one more thing," Naruto informed them all.
"And what may that be Naruto?" Hiruzen asked, intrigued. Of course he knew about the spying but figured it was worth letting it slide to acquire their aid the Uzumaki being legendary in battle.
"I would like to have a spar with Shisui here. I am a very adept sensory ninja, in fact besides my grandfather here, I am the best sensor in all of the clan. I can sense great power from Shisui and I would like to test that for myself. If you impress me further I'll help you all and it would be my honor. I have no doubt you can you're quite talented I can tell," Naruto said with wink aimed at Shisui.
"I accept," Shisui said from behind Fugaku. "For the village I swear I'll impress you Naruto. But don't say I didn't warn ya when I kick your butt," Shisui said.
"Then it is settled. Let's go and get this settled right now," Naruto beckoned. He took off his robes and revealed his shinobi battle suit underneath. It was bright orange and slim fitting showing off his muscles that covered him.
They walked together with an audience of the council members to a nearby training ground. When they arrived they walked to opposite ends of the field and turned to face each other. "Now Shisui I do not want you to go easy on me, got it? I want to see what one of the most skilled fighters in the Leaf has to offer. I promise you won't harm me," Naruto smiled cockily at him.
Shisui removed his mask and stored it in a seal on his wrist and then got into his battle stance. "Well if you insist but don't say I didn't warn ya beforehand," Shisui agreed. Naruto nodded his ascent then got into his ready stance.
Shisui was surprised since he had never seen a stance like it before. To the untrained eye it would look like he was just standing there relaxed but Shisui's eyes were very trained. He could see every single muscle ready to move at a moments notice ready to react to whatever he needed.
He activated his sharingan and readied himself for the attack he felt coming. In an instant Naruto was gone from where he stood and in Shisui's personal space. He had his arm thrown back for a punch that Shisui ducked underneath going for an uppercut, his sharingan picking up on everything he did. Shisui was impressed at the speed that Naruto was displaying. He had no doubts without his sharingan he wouldn't be following it right now.
They exchange several blows up close and personal and then that's when Shisui noticed something alarming to him. His sharingan wasn't able to copy what Naruto was doing. This shocked him since it was supposed to be able to copy any style it saw and translate it for the user's use.
He disengaged from the fight gaining distance and decided to question him on this. "Interesting, how is my sharingan unable to copy your style?" Shisui asked confused. "Simple. The Uzumaki style is unpredictable. It is not rigid and formal like most others. It is wild and all over the place. It is about reacting to and playing against your enemies. It has been feared as such for generations," Naruto stated proudly.
Shisui nodded his acceptance of this answer. "So are we done playing? Is it time to get serious yet?" Naruto asked. "What do you mean Naruto?" Shisui feigned ignorance. "I mean you show me your special eyes and I shall show you mine," Naruto smirked.
"What do you mean by that Naruto?" Shisui asked. "If you use your Mangekyo that I can sense hiding in your eyes then I shall reveal my ultimate ability. Sage mode," Naruto revealed. The crowd watching gasped that ones as young as them had the power of two fabled techniques.
"Sage mode?! You can use Sage Mode?! Well if that's the case then I don't really have a choice do I?" Shisui agreed. He closed his eyes and Naruto could feel the rush of chakra he sent to them. When they opened instead of the normal red with three tomoes his eyes were now red with four point pinwheels for each pupil.
"Impressive. Now it is my turn I believe," Naruto praised. He closed his eyes then felt the natural energy of the world flow into him. The power burned like ice and fire mixed together and he mixed it perfectly with his own chakra in a way that only two others had ever achieved.
The change was only slightly noticeable. Around his eyes red marks appeared like eyeliner, his nails grew ever so slightly to claws and his whiskers stood out a little more. His pupils became slits and his irises turned blood red.
"Behold the power of a Fox Sage. I have trained for several years with the Kitsune clan to achieve this. All thanks goes to my master Kurama in the matter," Naruto proclaimed.
From here the battle really began for the two. They sped at each other fast enough that only the two Kages present were capable of following their movements. They traded blows for several moments, both of them having much more power behind each blow causing sonic booms each time they clashed.
They broke apart and that's when Shisui knew he needed to go for it. He formed the hand signs then called out his jutsu's name. "Susnaoo!" Shisui roared. All around him green chakra exploded enveloping him in it. It grew in size until it stood 100 feet tall, it had a samurai looking helmet on and padding that resembled a samurai as well. It's left hand was normal and it's right hand was that of a drill looking object.
Naruto laughed in delight. "Yes! This is what I wanted from you!" Naruto yelled in joy. Shisui thought he would have the upper hand with this ultimate technique of the Mangekyo and he would be right against anyone else.
Naruto ran through the summoning jutsu hand signs and then slammed his hangs down on the ground. There was a humongous burst of smoke and when it cleared they all spotted Naruto atop the back of a giant fox. The fox was burnt red with orange thrown in around the eyes and ears. It had two tails swinging behind it hinting at its strength.
When it spoke it was identified as undeniably female. "Hello Lord Naruto. Fighting an Uchiha I see and a powerful one at that judging by the level of Susanoo being displayed here," the fox spoke aloud.
"Indeed Lady Shura. Ready to use our special move?" Naruto asked with a grin. "It is about time we used that in more than just light sparing," Shura grinned.
Out of Naruto's back sprouted immense golden chakra chains that begin to wrap all around Shura completely encasing her. It moved and writhed till it all fell into position in the form of armor wrapping her whole body in the impenetrable chains.
Shisui watched this happen in fascination, having never seen anything like this before. He could feel the power radiating off of them with his senses. This would be a tough fight indeed.
The two giants ran at each other and began their physical match anew both parties eager to defeat the other. They met in the middle of the field and traded blow after blow. Shisui's arm would scrape off the armor and Shura's armored claws had little ability to puncture the chakra construction.
They kept trading hits for several minutes before they both backed off. They nodded at each other and agreed to one final attack to decide the battle. The two giants left and there was Naruto and Shisui facing each other on the ground for the final attack.
Shisui ran through hand signs and blew a giant fireball at Naruto and Naruto ran through hangsigns countering it with a water dragon. The two attacks collided and canceled each other out. The spar had ended in a draw.
They went to sit on the bench with the crowd coming up to cheer them on. Naruto noticed that when Shisui stopped to take a drink from his water bottle and lifted his arm for a sip his unkempt armpit hair was mostly clinging to his skin from how much he was sweating clearly he was putting actual effort into the fight. "You're amazing Naruto," Shisui praised. "Right back at ya. I haven't tried that hard in a long time," Naruto smiled. "Me either. I had a lot of fun today with you ya know. I know you have a nice room in the mansion and all but if you wanted some company you could maybe come back to my place for the night," Shisui offered with a smile blushing a little.
"That actually sounds like a really good idea. Although we have to leave later tomorrow. But you could come keep me company in my room? The bed is big enough for two," Naruto suggested, also blushing. "Alright I will," Shisui beamed in happiness.
The crowd arrived around them and they were soon praised for their immense power. Even the Kages were blown away by the fight shown. Naruto was asked if he had reached a decision about helping Konoha in the war yet.
Naruto stood up and proclaimed, "Yes I have indeed reached my decision. Uzugakure shall come to the aid of Konohagakure in this war at last. Once me and my grandfather return home we shall send our troops into battle with you. You have my word as the next Uzukage."
The crowd cheered on his proclamation, his grandfather nodding in approval to him and Shisui beaming in joy. Naruto only hoped that he hadn't made a mistake in joining. Perhaps Shisui would help him affirm that decision while they spent time together tonight. Tonight indeed…
