Kim's pov:

After dealing with another of Dr. Drakkin's so-called evil plans for world domination, I had to rush back home for dinner. Danny has been getting used to things in Middleton and with my family. Dad takes Danny with him often to the Space Center, those two would spend hours talking about new projects that the Space Center developed. Even Jim and Tim love Danny and his ghost powers. I also think Monique has a huge crush on Danny, I keep seeing her fazing out when Danny walks into Club Banana with me.

Just as I got home, Danny was in his ghost form fighting three vulture ghosts right outside the house. This was too weird even for me. I saw that Danny had chased them out but one of them dropped something. I grabbed it but it turned out to be a piece of a picture and it was of my dad. Danny turned back to his human form as he landed beside me. "What did those birdbrains want with your dad?" Danny asked.

"No clue. But something tells me that those buzzards are just pawns." I stated.

We walked inside only to find Jim and Tim running out of the kitchen. I tried asking them what was wrong but I figured out what it was. Dad brought home experimental astronaut food and that meant the whole family are the test subjects. Good thing mom made a backup dinner for us in case, somehow I think she knew about dad's idea of dinner.

Let's just say the astronaut food ended up making Tim and Jim bolt from the dinner table after one bite. Mom waited till dad was gone then brought out the hidden dinner she made. She then told us that the whole family is going to Wisconsin for the weekend. Her friend Vlad is hosting their college reunion and we are invited. Mom even said that I could invite Ron to come with us.

By the next day, we were all packed up and ready to go to Wisconsin. Ron seemed to be more excited due to the fact we're gonna be spending the next in a mansion. Appertaining Vlad had made arrangements for us to ride in his jet to get us to Wisconsin faster. This guy was good. I asked Wade if he might have any clue where Vlad lives. Wade found him, Vlad lives in a huge castle which is also where the reunion is.

We finally landed in Wisconsin, the jet landed just right outside the castle. We got off only to be greeted by Vlad himself. Of course, mom introduced the whole family and even Danny. Although I think Vlad seemed more interested in Danny than the rest of the family. We walked inside only to find that the mansion was decorated with green and gold colors and tons of football team pictures.

"Um, what's with the green and gold? And the football team?" Ron asked.

"Ron? Football jerseys, helmets, cheese heads. He's a packers fanatic." Danny answered.

I don't know that much about football but something tells me that Vlad might. I made sure that the tweebs don't touch anything but I spoke too soon. Turns out we weren't the only ones that got the invite early. The doors opened and Danny looked pale as a ghost, it was his family. Just great, the last thing we need is the crazy ghost hunters.

Danny's face with still white then he just grabbed his bags and ran towards the guest rooms. My best guess is that he doesn't want his parents to know that he's here. Ron turned to me then to another girl who looked just like me. He thought I was cloned by my aunt but I told him that was my other cousin, Jazmine. Wow, we do look alike. Jazz seemed to be completely harmless but I'm still keeping my guard up just in case.

I could tell that both mom and Aunt Maddie weren't happy to see each other. The two sent daggers to each other nonstop to the point where it looked like they would attack each other. Ron and I just left to check on Danny, after seeing his parents again he might still be in shock. We found Danny in one of the guest rooms, he was using his ghost powers to stay hidden. "Danny, you can come out now," I called out.

Danny reappeared from his hiding spot, he still looked shocked to see his parents. I promised him that both Ron and I will make sure that his parents don't see him. With that, Ron and I headed to our room for a good night's sleep.

Danny's pov:

I tried to fall back asleep but my ghost sense woke me up. Great just what I need, a working vacation. I turned into my ghost form and snuck out of my room. I found the three ghost vultures from before, they were floating around looking for Uncle Jim. I don't know what these buzzards hold against my uncle. However, once they saw me, they just screamed and disappeared. "Ok, not the reaction I was going for," I stated.

Just then, someone blasted me from behind and I went flying into the wall. I looked up to see another ghost with blue skin, black hair in the shape of horns, red eyes, fangs, and wearing all-white clothes with a cape. The ghost just stared at me with hatred. I bet this ghost was the one that hired those vultures. I charged straight at him but he grabbed my hand and threw me to the ground. Ok, this guy was stronger than the other ghosts I've faced.

I tried to fire an ectoblast but he just deflected it back with a shield, I couldn't even do that yet. He then started to duplicate himself into four ghosts, I haven't unlocked that power yet. "How are you doing that?!" I asked.

"Years of practice child. Years that you won't be around to find out." The ghost said with a wicked grin.

All four ghost charged up their blasts and fired at the same time. I got hit hard and ended up crashing into another room. I tried to stand and fight with what little strength I had left but it was no use. My vision became blurry and all I saw was pitch black.

Vlad's pov:

It was bad enough I had to deal with Jack and Maddie for the reunion but now I have to deal with ghosts sneaking into my home. Kim let me know about the ghost vultures that were after her dad. However, she didn't mention a ghost child roaming the halls. The child looked like he was twelve years old. I didn't want to hurt him but he did try to attack me. I used my powers to defend myself but tried not to hurt him, he is just a child.

I managed to knock the boy out cold but I saw rings form around his body and he was back to being human. He's a halfa just like me but what made things worse was that the ghost boy is Daniel. Those two idiots that I had called once friends had rebuilt the ghost portal again. I thought I was the only one. But now, Daniel has become a victim of Jack's buffoonery. He's far too young to be a half especially when he hasn't had any training or the abilities that I have required the past twenty years.

I grabbed Daniel from the ground and carried him in my arms back to his room. I stayed in my ghost form just until I reached the guest room Daniel was in. I transformed back to my human form with Daniel still asleep in my arms. I placed him on the bed and pulled the covers up to his chin. I turned to leave but I then heard Daniel scream and toss around in his sleep. He woke up with a little sweat dripping from his forehead.

I had to lie to Daniel about how I got here mostly because I didn't want him to know that I'm the ghost that knocked him out. I stepped out of the shadows and walked over to him. "You alright? I heard you screaming." I quickly lied.

Daniel just stayed silent trying to catch his breath. I slowly sat beside him as he looked at me like a curious kitten. He looked like a little kid with that expression and I felt my protective instincts kick in. I wrapped my arms around Danny and held him close towards my chest. I rubbed his back with my hands as I whispered sweet things to calm him down. Soon after, I felt Daniel place his arms around my neck. He started to cry a little as I ran my fingers through his thick wild hair.

The poor child has been through so much that no child should have gone through. Soon I felt Daniel limp a little in my arms and let out a soft snore. I didn't want to leave him all alone with another nightmare. So instead of leaving him in the guest room, I took him to my bedroom. I don't know why but for the first time in my life, I finally feel normal around Daniel. I pulled him off me gently and tucked him in my bed.

I heard footsteps coming this way, I turned into my ghost form and headed towards the sound. It was just Ann, I quickly turned back to my human form. We made sure that neither Jack nor Maddie were around before I pulled out the adoption papers for Daniel. We planned this the day Daniel went with Ann and her family. I pulled a few strings to get the adoption papers to have Danny as my son. Plus with all the evidence Kim's friend sent me, Jack and Maddie will lose custody over Danny.

"Everything ready?" Ann whispered.

"Got everything signed for Daniel's custody as my son. Although you should have told me he's half ghost." I stated.

"Danny made each of us swear to secrecy that we would not tell anyone. The last place he needs to be is in a lab being ripped apart molecule by molecule." Ann explained.

My heart tightened a little at the whole ripping him apart. I knew Jack and Maddie were obsessed with ghosts but I never thought that their obsession would have their son be terrified of them. Ann went back to her room while I went to check on Danny. I found him still asleep with most of the blanket wrapped around his thin body. I walked over and slowly removed a bit of the blanket so he wouldn't overheat.

I felt Daniel's hand grip my hand, I turned to see him still asleep but he gripped my hand tighter. He didn't want to be alone as well, he even moaned like a toddler as he snuggled up close to me. I move a few of his bangs from his eyes and I saw his smile a little in his sleep. "I promise Little Badger. I won't let anyone hurt you." I whispered before falling asleep.

Danny's pov:

The next night was the reunion party, I spent the whole day avoiding my parents and even helping Mr. Masters set the party. I felt so embarrassed from last night when I found myself in the same bed as him. Normally my parents would just force me to deal with my nightmares. But with Mr. Masters, I felt safe and loved. For someone who lives alone, the man seemed to be good with kids.

Kim made sure that Jim and Tim wouldn't try to destroy the mansion by sticking them in the screening room with my sister. Knowing Jazz, she wouldn't be anywhere near our parents tonight. I made sure to stay with Kim and Ron the whole time just to distance myself from my parents. Kim left me with Ron while she figured out what those ghosts wanted with her dad. Ron just ran to the snack table with Rufus for chow. I just stayed at one of the empty tables far away from the crowd. The highlight of the night was watching Ron try to pogo dance with the others. "Now I'm mortified," I muttered.

I was bored out of my mind, I almost wish I had gone with Kim. It wasn't until Mr. Masters came over to me with a plate of food. "Thought you would be hungry. Your friend has nearly gone through half the table." Mr. Masters stated.

I didn't want to be rude so I just took the plate and started eating. There was something about Mr. Masters that just made me feel safe around him. I could see from the corner of my eye that my parents were giving off glares right at us. I looked around to spot Kim but she wasn't in the room. 'That was odd, maybe she forgot something in the guest room.' I thought. I told Mr. Masters that I was gonna go get some air and left the ballroom.

I checked Kim's room but she wasn't there, all I could find was the communicator laying on the ground. My ghost sense went off and I transformed into my ghost form. Suddenly two pairs of ghostly tentacles grabbed me by the arms and held me in the air. I struggled to break free but had no luck. Suddenly someone blasted the ghosts off me and out of the shadows was Kim. I'm just glad she was ok but she wasn't only. Skulker was standing behind her along with a mad scientist with blue skin.

I looked at Kim and saw that she was in one of Skulker's traps which meant that this was a trap. I tried to free Kim but Skulker had a trap waiting for me. He tossed a strange cube in front of me and it started to trap me. I tried to phase out of it but I was still trapped. Kim was tossed right beside me as Drakken started to ramble on about his plan. Wow, this guy makes my parents look like geniuses.

Skulker just rolled his eyes and shocked both me and Kim until we passed out. We both woke up and found ourselves in a lab. Kim was chained up by the wrists while I was strapped to a table with ghost chains wrapped around me. I turned to see Skulker with a glowing blade right at my throat. I felt panic rise in my chest as I closed my eyes and wait for Skulker to kill me. I heard Kim screaming my name then suddenly Ron burst into the lab.

"Drats! I forgot about that sidekick!" Drakken complained.

"And this sidekick is not alone. Yo Plasmuis! I found the crazies that snuck into your lab!" Ron cried out.

Kim and I just shared a confused look, who was Plasmuis? Suddenly, the same ghost from last night appeared right beside Ron. He looked livid when he saw me strapped to a table ready to be skinned alive. Plasmuis charged straight Skulker and blasted him right into a ghost portal. Plasmuis broke me out of the ghost chains as Ron freed Kim from the chains and she turned into a raging bull. I have never seen Kim so angry before, she gave Drakken a good beat down.

Before I could watch any longer, Plasmuis grabbed me by the waist and placed us both out of the lab. I tried to struggle out of Plasmuis's held but he just held me tighter. We ended up in the guest room I was staying in. He finally let me go, I was about to bolt for the door but Plasmuis grabbed me by the wrist and put me on the bed. I was about to blast him but my powers gave out and I was back to normal.

I saw rings forms around Plasmuis and he was back to being human but it turned out that Plasmuis was Vlad. I almost passed out seeing Vlad as half-ghost. He assured me that Kim was just fine, she's done this before. I felt Vlad pull me close to him and he hugged me tightly. He started to whisper in my ear that I was safe and no one was gonna hurt me. Vlad was acting more like a father than my real father.

He's gentle, easy to talk to, makes me feel safe, and he even made sure that I wasn't hurt by Skulker and Drakken. But most importantly, he didn't see me as a freak and he isn't freaked out by my ghost form. I saw flashes of police sirens from outside my window, my guess is that Kim took down Drakken. Vlad then puts his hands on my face and told me that he had some news just for me. "I was saving it for my speech at the reunion but I think this would be a better moment," Vlad stated.

He then pulled out some papers from his pocket and handed them to me. I opened them up and they looked a lot like adoption papers. I looked closer and saw that my name was on top. "After Ann took you with her to Middleton, I saw how your parents treated you. So I pulled a few strings to get the papers to adopt you as my son. Ann and I even got a court order against your parents. Wade even send off the footage of your parents and previous school life abusing you."

"But why would you want me? I'm nothing special. Just another failed mistake that has no future." I stated as tears dripped down my face.

Vlad saw my tears and quickly wiped them away. "Danny, you are not a mistake. You are a wonderful, brilliant kid. Anyone would be lucky to have you. You have great friends and family that love you. I know I'm not perfect but I want to give you a better life. I know what it's like to normal one moment and have it turned upside down the next. I promise you, I will do everything in my power to make you feel safe."

I want to say yes but I don't want to leave Middleton and Kim. Vlad let me know that he would be willing to move to Middleton for me. I finally agreed to let Vlad adopt me, he looked ecstatic when I said yes. I felt Vlad pick me up like a little kid and he tucked me in. He said that it was late and I should get some rest. Vlad gave me a kiss on my forehead and ran his hand through my hair to help me fall asleep. It worked, I found myself giving into the gentle touch and fell asleep.
