Chapter 8 Slumbering Ago

Having faced Sasha's band of thugs, Juinchi slowly took deep breaths as he turned to Hakune and friends. The rest of the gang who are still standing began to cower in fear hoping that the fearless orange head fighter doesn't turn his way towards them to finish the job. None of Juinchi's friends were harmed however Miyuki took the deepest blow emotionally. The way Sasha not so long ago out right wanted to watch her, and the others suffer, she went so far to bring half of the red hawk members to try their hands on them, all just for spite. This brought a whole new meaning of betrayal coming from her former friend, but Miyuki tried her best not to feel doleful in front of her actual friends, who seemingly felt the same way.

For a while Juinchi notices the amount of gloominess shown from everyone due to the scuffle. Not only that but seeing that one of their own turned on them had really soured their mood. Just before everyone is about to head their separate ways Juinchi openly addresses everyone about his idea he thought of at the last minute. "Hey guys, can you all spare me some time to listen in on my request?" Juinchi's call for attention have brought all of his companions to turn the other way and listen in on his thought.

"Juinchi what's up?" Kyto crosses his arms. Miyuki also chimes in. "What's up on your mind Juinchi?" "Guys how about spending a night at my apartment? Me and Hakune have recently moved out our apartment rooms to a more suitable one with more living space." Juinchi asked.

"You mean a sleep over? Hmm never thought of that, sounds fun. Kinda think of it, it reminds us of being together during that time before..." Kyto reminiscing on those memories when he, Juinchi, and Miyuki used to be roommates back then. Added to the fact that the three of them barely got time to spend together like old times. "Oh, now I'm excited, it will be like old times!" Miyuki's gloomy expression has switched back to her cheerful self again due to her fond memories being with the two boys.

Yukino unfortunately decided to decline the offer as she has some things to take care of. "Sorry Tatagashi San, maybe next time."Juinchi nodded understandingly while he ruffles Yukino's head. "It's quite alright kiddo just don't get yourself into any trouble now." That one action made Yukino pout and angrily blushes while she turned around. "Would you stop that?! And I'm not a kid dang it!...But yeah I'll try to be on my best behavior." Yukino then slowly changes her expression to a grateful toothy smile.

"Juinchi….what is all this about?" Hakune stares at her orange haired boyfriend searching for answers for this idea of his. "That's kind of you to offer them to have a sleep over but do we have enough room for three more guests? We only have two bedrooms in our new apartment..." The confused demoness tries to figure out why Juinchi would offer such a request.

"I'll make it work don't worry Hakune, I believe this is something that is worth trying out, you know experiencing new things and getting to know these three in person?" Juinchi ensures Hakune that this request is worth a try especially for her. However, a certain someone has already caught on to Juinchi's plan as the orange head notices Emy's snickering. "Ohhhhh...I get it now...hehehe.. Juinchi you sly dog you!" Emy proceeds to approach Juinchi dangerously close and budges his shoulder with her elbow playfully while winking at him thus causing Kyto to manifest a huge amount of killing intent towards his fellow cook. "O-ouch! What was that for Hizugashi San?"

Before he could say anything, he sees Kyto's murderous death glare which made the orange head scared and panicked. "Sorry Juinchi but I can read people like a book." She winks and laughs some more. "It's obvious to me that you're allowing us to stay for the night at your place so that Hakune can feel less lonely and more acquainted with us, correct?" She budges him once again giving off the biggest smile she could as the playful Emy twirls around the two couples.

Feeling defeated Juinchi nods sulking as his cheeks became darkened like ripped cherries and his shoulders sag down like weighted sandbags. This in turn have brought everyone to laugh at Juinchi's misfortune. It has always been this way since Juinchi is basically the class clown of the group, a laughingstock, and someone to make fun of when times are at its lowest. He'll always be the guy to brighten up the mood when necessary.

Adding insult to injury Hakune secretly places a subtle, gentle, and sweet kiss on his cheeks. Then the laughs turned to cuteness overload as a certain pop idol watch on and lets out her inner fan-girl persona. Much to Juinchi's creeped outlook. Juinchi's reaction to Hakune's sudden clutches was all too noticeable towards his friends. The blushing chromatic turns away mumbling and pouting at such an embarrassed state leaving Miyuki to enact the same fan-girl persona taking in the cuteness of the two couples.

"Ohh my…. they are soooo cute!" She places both her hands on her cheeks and twirls at such a sight. "H-hehehe there she goes again." Yukino points out while facepalming. For both Miyuki and Emy they love cute things and couplings. Before all this debacle goes out of track. Juinchi goes straight back on topic about the sleep over. "A-Anyways let's gets some stuff, we can go to everyone's house to get their essentials for the sleep over. "We can go together." Yukino sadly smiles and nods knowing she could not go. "Well, I hope you guys have fun." As Yukino turned directly at Juinchi who she seems to be giving him a mournful smile as if she felt the need to make things up for Juinchi. "I'm truly sorry for I put you through those years…" And with that she turned and went straight back to her homestead.

Kyto and Hakune felt awfully confused from such a strange interaction between Yukino and Juinchi. "What was that about?" With that question coming from Kyto Juinchi decided not to answer. "Don't worry about it. For now, we should really get going." That was pretty evasive especially coming from Juinchi as Hakune too could see through Juinchi's deceitful avoidance. Hakune urgently checks up on that. "Is there something between you and Yukino Juinchi?" And once again the orange head simply doesn't speak about it.

Kyto raises an eyebrow and just stick to it not wanting to pry his friend's past. It was clear he doesn't want to talk about it. "That was strange." Hakune watches as her boyfriend seemingly just evaded anything related between him and Yukino. She then went and asked both Emy and Miyuki. "Girls do you know anything between the two?" Unfortunately, they both know nothing of their history, they were already moved out back when Emy and Miyuki started to build up their careers. They did have a track record of Juinchi being silent and socially inactive after the first 3 years during their college days. No phone calls, no e-mails, heck not even chatting in person, the only time when he ever did come by is when they cross paths with him.

This made Hakune quite uneasy to think her boyfriend could still have someone in his life he used to love. "Do you think…" Hakune hesitantly tried to ask a very worrisome question until she was cut off by Emy who firmly stated her defense for Juinchi. "No way, he's not the type of person to do that when he finds someone who he truly cares for and loves. He would hate himself if he ever does consider the thought of cheating." Miyuki smiled. "It's clear he loves you Fujiko San, like Emy said once he finds someone, he loves he'll be with you until the day he dies. That's his oath." Suddenly the group has been called out by Juinchi whose already 50 feet away from them yelling the top of his lungs. "OI! ARE YOU ALL JUST GONNA STAND THERE?! COME ON GUYS!"

Soon enough Miyuki, Hakune, Kyto, and Emi finally catches up to Juinchi who purposely walked nearly at pace of a tortoise. For now, all of their worries and doubts about the orange head are left at the back seat since they needed to concentrate on getting their stuff for the sleep over. Emy and Kyto are the first to get their things from their house. Kyto brought only his two pairs of casuals and outdoor attires in his pack while Emy on the other hand brought a huge bag full of probably five sets of clothing. "Juinchi please be a dear and help with my things." Emy casually requested almost without any regard.

"Whoa are you sure you need that much clothes Emy?" The twitchy eyed orange head asked. She sticks her tongue out while giving a smile. "Well, you said at least two nights so of course I need this many. Besides you, Hakune, Kyto, and Miyuki are also going out to have some fun right?" Having forgot he did mention that it would be super boring and awkward if they only spent the two days stuck in a pretty small and compact living quarters. Juinchi facepalmed at his own forgetfulness. "Oh yeah...you got a point there."

After everyone is packed and ready the gang have used a train for easy travel. As soon as they arrived to Sugurai Apartment Juinchi then help each of his friends to get their packed belongings up to the new two bedroom living quarters. Hakune helps out by going to the office and notifying Tomiya San about having guests coming to sleep over at their home. The orange head opens the door letting the girls in first.

"You're such a gentleman." Emy winked at Juinchi while Kyto angrily shoves his fiancé forward to not cause more troublesome antics on his co-worker/friend. As they all went in, Kyto lazily goes straight towards the living room couch plopping on it without a care as he let out a big sigh making himself comfy after that long commute travel. Miyuki had already used the restroom to do her and changing to her usual night wear casuals. Emy had also shared the restroom to do the exact same thing. Hakune is at the kitchen making snacks for their guests while Juinchi sets up rooms to look cleaner and more organized without any noticeable clutters on the desk tables. And because his strength increased exponentially, he has no issues of moving heavy furniture to different locations in the guest bedroom and master bedroom.

"Let's see...where shall I put this one at?" He uses his remarkable strength to lift up a queen size bed and sets in at the right corner of the room so that it will give Kyto and Emy more space to walk around. After when that's done, he proceeded to go through the farthest part of the hall where the next bedroom is. The only thing he had to do in there is change the old sheets and pillows with clean ones, this room will be for Miyuki to sleep in. After that, his last stop is at the living room. The only thing he needed to do is readjust the couch further back away from the coffee table and change it into a futon bed, while adding a soft cushion mat on top of the mattress and cover it with a nice fluffy blanket. This is where Juinchi and Hakune would sleep.

Meanwhile Hakune in her cute, frilled apron is currently making snacks, she seems to be stirring up some batter in a bowl using a manual eggbeater. After that, she placed the battered goop into an icing bag and proceeded to squeeze them out cautiously as the goop forms into a circular cookie shape on the metallic tray. When that is done, she added a good portion of caramelized icing on top of the cookies while adding sugar sprinkles. Once there are plenty on the tray, she sets it in the oven and turns up the heat to 330 degrees so that the cookies and to make sure the sweets don't burn easily Hakune set a timer up to 10 minutes.

Finally, the girls are now looking pretty clean and ready for the first night. Hakune took the opportunity to get herself ready as well as she used the appropriate time to wear her pajamas. Miyuki and Emy had already taken a seat on stools by the kitchen island counter waiting for what they'll have for dinner. But for now, they begin to gossip some topics that are not for the young mind to listen in. In fact, Emy is a huge vanilla romance visual novel addict. Whenever a new visual novel game got announced she would immediately buy the copy as soon as it's released. This in turn made Hakune question Emy's unusual behavior for trying to flirt with her Juinchi multiple times, must have been one of those scenes in the game causing her to act out. "Must have loved making her Gusai San on edge and slightly jealous." Hakune thought as she places her palm on her forehead and shook her head disapprovingly.

Miyuki nervously laughs "Oh don't worry it's one of her pet peeves of hers. She would always have me watch some scenes that uhhh seems quite interesting." Then Miyuki sighed while contemplating whether she would talk about her time with her those three months ago. Then Emy continues. "Haha there was this time where Yukino actually got you from behind and surprised you with a good sneak attack." Hakune raises an eyebrow and tilt her head. "Sneak attack." And on queue.

Emy somehow got behind Miyuki and started to place her hands underneath Miyuki's one shoulder sleeveless t-shirt while groping her breasts. "Kyaaaa not again Emy!" Miyuki whimpers while turning her head to stare at her with great annoyance and plea. "Stoooppp, not in someone's home!" The brightly red super model begged as she tried to break herself free from Emy's clutches. Hakune just stood there blankly just completely lost at what she just saw. The two boys didn't even bother to look since they are used to such a lewd behavior Emy committed to her female companions.

Suddenly an alarm starts to ring out from the kitchen. "Oh! The snacks I got to check it now! Hold on girls I'll be right back!" Hakune got up to check the baked cookies and to her relief they are not nearly burned out, there are some noticeable darker parts on the top but luckily none of them were burned to a crisp. "Ahh good they're perfectly baked." After taking the tray out from the oven Hakune took out 5 plastic cups and fully pour them with milk for the cookies. Next Hakune used a shareable plate to put the cookies on and have the sweets set on the island table. With that she calls everyone out that dessert is ready.

Juinchi, Kyto, Miyuki, and Emy took their seats getting ready for some deliciously sweat treats. "We're here!" Everyone said simultaneously. But then Kyto grumbled while seeing what he'll have for dessert. "Oh milk? And...cookies…" Suddenly Kyto had been given a cold stare from his girl who does not appreciate the way Kyto acts in someone's home and for the hard work she did to create such delightful morsels "Show Hakune some appreciation Kyto! After all she worked hard making these cookies!" Kyto sweat drops and nods frantically while he sighs. "Okay Okay, I'm sorry jeez Emy I won't complain anymore!"

As for her boyfriend, Juinchi analyzed the culinary skills Hakune used to make them and to his pleasure he nods gave off a giant grin with pride. "I can already tell the smell of them; they even look scrumptious. I can already tell these are done with so much love. Nicely done Hakune." The blushing demoness bashfully recollects her focus as she turns towards her lover with a hint of embarrassment but still appreciates his compliment. "I-Idiot not in front of everyone! But thank you...I was able to do it with your cooking guidance."

Before things heat up between the two. Juinchi and especially Kyto turned to an unnecessary question coming from the pop idol. "So, uh when is it time for dinner?" Emy nonchalantly asked while both boys gave her deadpan looks with visible tick marks on their heads. Kyto being the first to replied. "How can you be still hungry, dear?! We just had a big meal back at that Korean BBQ joint!" The annoyed swordsman face palmed while Emy scoffs and stick her tongue out. "Chill, I was kidding baby. Lighten the load, would you?" The neko hat wearing idol sassed while taking the first cookie and munches on it.

And so, the cookies gradually disappear with each person taking one except for Juinchi who's told to not take one based on Hakune's request. "Hakune is this payback for the critique I've given you?" Hakune shook her head while having her hands behind her back clearly holding something. "I actually wanted to give you this, a special treat specifically for you Juinchi." And so, she presented said special something for Juinchi. To his shock the cookie has a top shape closely resembling his hair style with orange icing with nicely placed green sugar icing from the center. "Hakune...did you actually?!…"

"Oh, wow that looks like you Juinchi!" Miyuki pointed out for the stumped orange head while she applauds Hakune's culinary artistry. "My goodness that looks so good! I can tell you put in the work for that big cookie!" No kidding! Holy Molly that looks exactly like Juinchi but much cuter since it's more like a chibi version of him! Hehehe" Emy teased while she gave her typical wolf eyebrow raise towards the already blushing Juinchi.

The already clouded Juinchi just couldn't catch a break from all of this as he nervously laughs and accepts the cookie. "T-Thank you Hakune…" Then he turned to Emy with clear annoyance. "I really hate you Emy Chan…" After that heartwarming moment with the two for their friends to see, the clock has hit 12:00 A.M. Kyto, Emy, Miyuki, Juinchi and Hakune have already settled into their designated rooms to sleep in. Things seem to be alright until the sleeping Juinchi started to move around and sweating. Something has been building up inside his psyche, something ominous.

The distressed orange head can't seem to understand what was going on in his subconscious, it was as if his dreams are starting to crack to pieces. There was nothing but silence, but then there are some noticeable laughs slowly and gradually getting louder and louder. "Whose there?! Show yourself damn it!" A confused Juinchi looked around in fear and ire. To his shock the voice sounded more like his own but just a low distorted tone that matches the echo of this dream world Juinchi's floating on. "Heh...hehh...heh well done, I do hope you keep the princess safe. Sadly, from where I'm standing, I do believe you'll end up hurting her seeing how foolish you are trying to negotiate that Raizen simpleton." A dark spherical orb emerges through the dream world. Suddenly forming into a shape similar to Juinchi's overall physique.

The appalled look Juinchi made is all too clear for the unknown being. "So, to think that you of all people, the princess actually chose you? How disgraceful...I'd much rather watch you fail than sully my hands to serve under you." That got under Juinchi's nerves as he fought back. "I don't know who the hell you are or why you try to look like me but if you dare try to threaten Hakune you leave me no choice but to end you with my own hands!" Juinchi warned as his eyebrows furrowed the moment this apparition said something that honestly scares him to the core.

"Ohhh temper much...well then...I might as well see for myself if you can handle the powers given to you by my priestess. If you fail, then all the death and destruction will be all your fault." The shadowy figure slowly walks away into the darkness, seemingly back to where he came from. But then something horrific happened. Flashes, so many flashes that appeared within Juinchi's mind, these blinding lights began to change into translucent flares and behind each flares showed what looked like a monstrous bulking creature holding what looked like a small toddler version of Juinchi. And to his absolute horror he sees himself trying to fight the very monster off but utterly fails from another flare. The next showed the absolute worst as he saw his own parents being killed by that same monster in such a brutal way. This was too much for the distressed orange head as he pleaded the images to go away. Just when he thought it was all over, one final message struck him hard. One that he could not escape from, the words said by a very familiar voice he knew of. "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT JUINCHI! ALL OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT!" It ends with Juinchi gasping right out of his sleep which ultimately woke Hakune up.

"J-Juinchi! W-whats wrong...!" The scared and worried Demoness took a look at her visibly frightened boyfriend. That dream, who is he? How does he even know THAT traumatic nightmare he had? And what exactly does he mean by the power he holds would destroy? For now, the Juinchi turned to Hakune as he places Hakune down so she can go back to sleep. "Sorry about that, it's just a nightmare, please rest Hakune." Though worried she nodded and took her boyfriend down on her level ready to sleep together. "Safe sleeping dear." Hakune teased as she closes her eyes and went back to sleep. The orange head smiled but went back to thinking of that nightmarish memory. "...Not today..." Juinchi said as he passes out beside his beloved girlfriend.

Kyto's History:

Kyto is an orphan who had lost both his parents due to an unfortunate event that led him to live on his own at the age of 15, he doesn't have anything to strive for due to his privileged lifestyle when his parent's practically took care of him the whole 15 years of his life until their deaths occurred. He believes that their deaths were all on him for relying too much on their support thus hating his bratty persona shunning it so he can learn to become independent. However, with the money he has left over after selling whatever valuable possessions his parents have under his inheritance he could not maintain on his own. When he is close to being broke, he met with Emy. The pair of them met at the same college and became close friends, after learning each other's pasts the both of them sooner became a couple thus motivating one another to achieve their career. Emy being halfway done with her majors began to think of taking theater and music in order for her to reach her dream to become a pop star singer. Kyto again still doesn't know exactly what to do or what he can strive for since he never thought of what he wanted to be. That is until his girlfriend Emy found out his amazing cooking skills as she sees him cook on a daily basis with delicious foods especially ramen. After taking notice of his cooking skills Emy persuade Kyto to take a cooking program to further perfect his understanding in food management and cooking rules.

The first half of the year Kyto has done an extraordinary job of keeping up with the chef instructors from the program and perfecting some of the cooking techniques that most of the other students struggle to understand. Things have gotten good for Kyto until Emy needed to travel to different countries to audition her singing performance to get a feel of the real deal. Thus, leaving Kyto paying the whole rent from their small apartment. Kyto once again couldn't keep the rent going thus leaving him to move out of the area. During that time is when he met both Juinchi and Miyuki living in the same apartment, Sugurai. Kyto became the new roommate as he finally finishes his program and start building a business with the support of his now best friend Juinchi. In order to start a business Kyto needed to find a building to lease so he can take ownership of the place. Are around Hayashita he found a run-down building complex between the bus center and Frenches-ca Thrift Store, this is the opportunity for Kyto needed so he called in the agency responsible for the lease of the broken building, paid the rent full using whatever money he has left. Once renovation is complete Kyto had already hired Juinchi as his head cook thus teaching him all he knew from his experience in food to him. For a couple of months Kyto's new restaurant Ishin Ramen Shop became a huge hit. This have led him to become debt free and finally getting the life he was looking for.

Powers/Abilities:

Kyto being a human doesn't stand a chance against a demon's power especially for a Demi. However, after being left orphaned Kyto have concentrated the majority of his time 1/3 of, it to harness himself to become a powerful individual capable of defending himself against the powers of any demon. He pushes his body and mind to his absolute limit in order to accomplish his prominent state of being. He learned to toughen his body to take on attacks from demons and creatures above them. Kyto would go out of his way to climb impossibly dangerous mountains with extreme low temperatures, rationing his food to discipline his endurance, and learn fighting styles that best suit his comfort and control. He prefers sword play to overpower his opponents with a weapon to gain an advantage and since he is human, he is allowed to carry a weapon in case a demon tries to attack using their powers. As Kyto continues to push himself he eventually attains his ultimate state of human limits as he calls it "Spiritua."

Swordsmanship:

Kyto primarily fights using his sword, he learned two basic sword techniques Kenjutsu and Iaijutsu with efficient use.

Heighten Senses:

Due to his mental and physical hardening Kyto is able to sense, hear, touch, and taste, three times better than any normal human. This allows him to perform better in combat predicting an enemy next move.

Spiritua Enhancement:

Spiritua called by Kyto is the ultimate state of human growth that allows Kyto to further develop superhuman abilities giving him extra strength, durability, speed, and awareness. This state of power can be seen by Blue Aura illuminating around him.

Weakness:

Prone To Loud Noises: Due to the heighten senses Kyto developed he is still affected by the use of it, if exploited an enemy can momentarily stun him by using high frequency-based attacks.

Rashness: Though capable of taking on powerful demons, Kyto is still rash during combat. He would put himself in the line of fire from his enemies and leaving himself wide open if he chose to rely too much on brute force than thinking of other possibilities.

Relationship:

Juinchi: Both he and Juinchi are like brothers, helping one another without question. The two share similar ideologies when it comes with life. He and Juinchi work at the same restaurant and once share the same apartment. Kyto would do whatever it takes it back Juinchi up if he ever needed anything.

Miyuki: Once roommates, Kyto and Miyuki share a love, hate relationship. Simply put siblings who would bicker over something that isn't important. Kyto would usually tease Miyuki for fun as Miyuki would be annoyed and show him off with attitude. However, the two still care for each other as close friends.

Emy: He and Emy are very close, the two of them love one another on equal terms. Kyto would always think of Emy whenever she goes off and kept his promise to stay by her side even if she is far away doing what she loves. Once Emy came back from her trips she would immediately call for Kyto to make up for loss times.

Hakune: Though wry of Hakune's presence of being a demoness, he isn't sure to trust her given the story he was told by her. Though suspicious Kyto would ultimately tolerate her due to Juinchi's fondness over her.
