The Perfect Family Chapter 8: An eventful day, a fairy tail fanfic

Today is the day that I'm officially in my second trimester. Meaning that I've finally hit the three-month mark. This means my clothes unfortunately are starting to get tight. I'm not showing a bunch though. Everything has been good though. The baby has been good, work has been great, my social life has been great. Things are going so great that... I decided I'm going to tell Luke today after work. I wanted to wait until after the first trimester ended just in case of a miscarriage but this pregnancy has been smooth sailing. Unlike Lucas when I was pregnant with him they claimed I was at a high chance of miscarriage so I was scared for this one.

these past couple of weeks Natsu has been driving us around as he claims "we can't trust these cab drivers with precious cargo" after seeing an accident with a cab driver on the news. So it's been interesting seeing him every morning. "Good morning Natsu!" Luke says as he gets into the back of the vehicle. "Good Morning little Man. Excited for school," I scoff softly as I get into the passenger seat. "Rough morning?" Natsu says as he looks at me. I nod as I rub my head. "I don't want to go to school," Lucas screams. Though things overall have been amazing. Lucas still is a kid so we have rough mornings. "Woah. What's wrong with school Luke ?" Natsu says as he begins to drive. "The teachers are always getting me in trouble." He says. "No, you get in fights with other kids for reasons you won't tell me. And get mad when the teachers call me. Lying is wrong," I say softly as I turn to look at him. He turns his eyes away from mine.

"Another fight happened yesterday?" I nod yes. "This one was bad too. Biting, kicking, punching, hair-pulling was involved to students, teachers, and everyone," I say as I sigh. "Well, why did you get in a fight, Luke ?" Natsu asked. "You wouldn't understand," Luke as says as he crosses his arms. "Because you aren't telling me. You can get suspended. You know what that means. You can get kicked out of school," I say softly. "good." I swear I almost lost my cool. I take a deep breath, "I can't no more Lucas." I say as I rubbed my forehead. I'm furious . But I can't lash out because this isn't my baby. I know something is bothering him but he won't speak out about it. I just don't know how to get him to speak.

"Well, Luke. I'm sure whatever you're fighting for it's for a good reason and as your Nakama, I support it," I turn over and look at Natsu. For a split second, I thought about strangling him. What is he doing? I shoot Natsu a glare and he avoids eye contact with me. "What's a Nakama?" Luke asks. "A family. Where we have each other's back and trust each other with anything. Nakama." Luke puts his hand on his chin and thinks for a second, "Mm yes! I like it Nakama. A family huh..." he gets quite suddenly. We pull up to his school and Luke jumps out of the car, "Bye mommy and Natsu. I'll see you later. Thank you !" He says as he runs to school. "Uh what the hell..." I mutter. The shift in attitude left me frozen. Natsu chuckles as he waves back and he begins driving to work with me.

I smile and giggle, "Thank you Natsu for whatever that was," I say he shrugs. "You raised a good little man. So I'm sure him fighting it's for a good reason. Just give him time," Natsu says pausing for a second. "Speaking of time happy 3 months," he says as he places a hand on my stomach rubbing it gently. I smile softly, "yeah baby's getting big hm?" I say as I look down at my stomach. "I think it's time to tell Lucas no? And go a little more public with the news" I say softly. By this time we had got to work and we were in the car just speaking. "What do you mean by go public?" He asks as he turns to look at me. "Well, I know you were just waiting on me to give you the ok. To tell family and friends. And this is it. You can speak freely about it," I say softly. "That is if you want to...But I mean- "of course. I have been wanting to tell everyone I have a mini-me since the day I found out you were carrying my child."

"Also...I was wondering if we can tell him together Lucy. If that's ok. I don't want to overstep my boundaries but uh.." He pauses. I smile softly, "that's sweet I don't see a problem with that. Lucas likes you. There's this book I have been saving. I would like to use the book to announce it before bedtime? So." "I'll be there of course." The rest of the the car ride goes by rather quietly until we got to work

Because today was not one of those busy meeting-filled days, the day flew by. Thank the Lord for that, since I was feeling a little under the weather at the time. I'm not sure if it was the anticipation of informing Lucus or just typical pregnancy symptoms, but I pushed through. I made sure to keep Natsu in the dark about this since you know how he is. The weirdest thing happened, however: I received a call from the lobby below, informing me that Natsu had a guest.

Since I am Natsu's assistant, I handle most of his business before it reaches him. This is to ensure that he isn't squandering his time on unproductive activities. "What is this person's name?" I inquire of the receptionist. "Zeref...Zeref Dragneel," says the person on the other side of the line . I thank the individual as I open a file with all the names of people I could let in automatically, and he was at the top of the list. As I hang up I say, "OK, send him up." Because the offices are slightly interwoven by linking doors, I leave mine directly entering Natsu's.

"Hey, Natsu. Sorry for bothering you..." When I start talking, he glances up at me and gives me his famous grin. "Luce, you're never a bother. I'm overdue for a break from devising marketing strategies. "What is going on?" he inquires. "Well, you actually have a guest by the name of Zeref," I say quietly, and as soon as I mentioned that name, a tremendous sigh came out of his mouth, leaving me puzzled,"Oh I'm sorry...was I meant to not let this guy in?" He was at the very top of the priority list." I mutter something faintly. Maybe I should've informed him first.

"No, Luce, it's alright; anyone with the last name Dragneel is immediately admitted to my office. It's simply that my elder brother is a pain in my ass" The office door opens unexpectedly, showing a young man with dark black hair and piercing black eyes. He was engulfed by an aura that was the polar opposite of Natsu's. He was warm and kind while this guy was a stand-off one. "Isn't your assistant supposed to meet your visitor at the elevator and guide them to you? There is no reason I should've walked here on my own. You are fired" he says as he points at me. Immediately my face scrunches up in shock "huh" I say turning my head to look at Natsu. Natsu sighs as he shakes his head.

"You are not fired Luce" he says causing me to sigh a breath of relief. Zeref groans, "disgraceful...anyway, I am here to have a talk with you Natsu about important family business. So I would rather us be alone," he says clearing his throat aggressively. A small frown appears on natsu's lips as he turns to face me, "Luce do you mind steppingOut?" he asks. I nod quickly leaving his office heading to mine.

The next couple of hours is filled with arguing inside of Natsu's office. However, when you're directly next to the room, it's a bit more difficult. As much as I did not want to interrupt it was two hours passed my closing time and I had to go pick up Luke. So I gathered all my courage walking to the door. Before I open the door, I knock, which quiets the roars I cautiously open the door, peeking out to see the two Dragneels staring at me, causing a swarm of nerves to go down my spine.

"Hey Luce, what's the matter?" Natsu questions. " I just have to go. I am late late to pick up Luke.I did not mean to interrupt your...discussion." Natsu looks down at his watch then back up at his brother. "We are done here"Natsu says grabbing his coat.he walks towards me his hand resting on my lower back leading me to the exit. "Natsu don't turn your back on me. I was not done speaking to you-" well I'm done listening.You have to stop trying to control mylife, the business, and who I associate with. It's not your place.'' "I am just trying make sure you don't bring disgrace to the Dragneel name. And you won't listen all because you want to get some pussy. grow the hell up" My back stiffens as I hear the words leave his mouth. "Don't speak about her like that again ever in your life. Show her some damn respect. I want you out My office.You can find your own way out."

The walk to the car was a quiet one.until we get inside of the car Natsu finally decides to speak, "I am sorry Luce. My brother is such an asshole. And now you're late to pick up Lucas," he says obviously frustrated. "Don't worry about it Natsu. It's fine. You seem tired Natsu...If you want I can call a taxi and you can just head home. I'll pick up Luke on my own," I say softly. His poor face looked drained out from his argument as he waited for the car to warm up. he leaned back in his seat he turned his head and flashes me a tired smile, "Honestly the only thing that can bring me a smile right now is probably you and Luke...So that's the last thing I would want," he says causing a smile to beam on my face.

"I hope you didn't end up hearing too much of our argument. He always has something to say about how I run the business. All I want is for my family to get along... I'm sure people think I'm wealthy... I have all I could possibly desire, but..." He takes a breath and sighs. "I understand, Natsu," I say as I grab his hand in mine and rub it softly. More than he could ever comprehend, I understood where he was coming from.

"It's just that family members are expected to support one another... He explains, "Not make me second guess myself." "Hey, look at me," I say softly, gently touching his chin and bringing our gazes together. His obsidian eyes weren't as bright as they normally were; this time, they appeared beaten down, most likely as a result of his brother's words. "Every day, I see what you do at work, how hard you work, and how smart you are. There's no reason to question yourself; you're truly wonderful."

My hand, which is holding his chin, is gently rubbed by his hand. As he looks at me, he simply says, "Thanks Luce, I needed that." It felt as though our eyes were glued to each other and we couldn't take our gaze away from each other. A sensation stronger than the butterflies in my stomach on the night of the bar arose, enveloping me in a state of...I'm not sure what to name this emotion. This is the first time I've felt like this since high school. I suddenly notice him leaning in, and the terrifying part is that I wanted him to kiss me. I craved his touch. My hand on his face draws him in closer to me. But My phone rang just as our lips were about to touch, jolting both of us out of our reverie. The opportunity has passed...

As I lean back and pick up my phone to answer it, I giggle awkwardly. Lucas's daycare called to tell me that due to the late time, they'd let Aquarius pick him up. She was never going to let me hear the end of this, I sighed. "That was for Luke ?" he asks as I hang up. "Y-Yeah. We gotta go pick him up at his grandmas house," I say sighing. "Your mother ?" I shrug, "No but yes. My mom past when young so this woman was my only mother figure. She's a bit of a handful," I say as Natsu begins to drive as I gave him the address.

When we get to Aquarius's house I call her to come down and bring the baby. I don't go up because I know If I do she will yell at me. But im hoping since Natsu is with me she won't be harsh. She comes down with Luke in hand and open the back door allowing him to sit down. I'm literally shaking in my seat as she walks up to the window and I roll it down slowly. "Adult talk time Lucas," She says prompting him to place his hands over his ears. I looked at her as I bite my lip gently sulking in my chair. "Lucy get your act together," her voice very sharp causing shivers to flow through my body.

"You are too damn grown, you're 21 years old with a kid so you can't be outside acting like you're a teenager with no responsibility. That's what you signed up for when you decided you wanted to be a good mother for Lucas. I'm disappointed in you," She says causing me to frown. It was like if I was a child again receiving a scold. "Sorry...It won't happen again Aquarius," I mumble. "And you! You pink haired idiot if you're gonna be around Lucy you better be acting right. Don't be causing her to become irresponsible," She yells at Natsu to causing me to drown in embarrassment.

"Yes ma'am" he says nodding. "Now hurry up and go home. It's past his bed time..." She yells as she walks away from us. I turn my head smiling at my baby hinting that he can open his ears now. "Sorry about being late today Baby..." I say softly as I grab his hand from the back. "I thought you forgot about me Mommy," he says as he sighs. "But I'm glad you're here! And with Natsu too. That means I can have play time with him," he says excitedly. "Yup bud. You're right...We're gonna have so much fun..."

When we get home I set Lucas in the bath and let him play with his toys a bit in the shower per his request. While me and Natsu sat on the couch. He's currently watching the basketball game while I sit next to him holding the small children's book called 'BIG BROTHER' in my hand. "Lucy you should give me a massage," Natsu whines. I giggle, "As if I'd ever. You should give me one hmp," I say scoffing jokingly. "Next time I will. Promise. But me first...Cmon Luce!" He complains causing me to roll my eyes. "Fine I will. After we put Luke to bed. I'll give you a massage," I say. "You're lying.." he says sucking his teeth jokingly. " maybe maybe not," I shrug giggling.

As Lucus gets out the shower i get him dress and place him to bed. "Hey bud we got this cool new book for us to read to you," Natsu says holding up the small book. "Yay! Come on hurry up and lay with me mommy and Natsu!" He says causing me to giggle. We all lay together and I begin reading the book to Lucas. You can tell by his face he was a little confused on why we were reading a book about all the stuff big brother's do. Until we got to the last page, "Now you may be wondering why you have to know all this stuff. But things are changing and may get a little bit tough... We just want you to know that mommy and D-..." I pause biting my lips...I hope he doesn't feel a type of way about me saying that.. "And Daddy will always love you. But not just you someone new too," Natsu finishes off for me causing me to look at him with a small smile. "The family of three will now be just a wee bit bigger...As there is a baby in mommy's tum," I say reading the last sentence. Lucas exchanges glances with both of us. "Are you serious? Mommy, there's a baby in your tummy?" He yells with glee. "Yes, there is, baby. My love, you're going to be the most fantastic big brother," I say.

"Is it a boy or girl?" He asks smiling. "We don't know yet bud. But when we do we will let you know!" Natsu says chuckling. "This is so great Natsu! Now we are gonna have one more person to play with right? Finally won't be alone" Lucas says as he smiles brightly. "That's right bud. Us three are gonna have a bunch of fun," Natsu said. "Anyway love. It's time for bed. We can talk about the baby more in the morning," I say as I kiss him on his forehead sliding of the bed. "Goodnight Buddy," Natsu says as he rubs his hair following me out the room.

As soon as Natsu closes the door I let out a deep sigh of relief as a judge weight was lifted off my chest. "Hey you ok?" Natsu asks his hand gently rested on my back. "No.." I mumble as I turn to face him. I softly place my head on his chest. I don't know why but I began to cry. Natsu gently pulls me in holding me in his arms. There was an overwhelming feeling throughout my body. "Thank you for being quiet I really didn't want to answer any questions about why I was crying. Because I don't even know myself," I say as I look up at him. "Well sometimes you'll just need a shoulder to cry on. And I'll happily be that person," Natsu says as he wipes the tears off my face. I smile at him as giggle his soft finger tips tickling his face. "So girl how about that massage hm?" He says causing me to laugh harder rolling my eyes. "Fine..."Sorry for not uploading in a while.
