"3..2…1…GO!"

Link,Kirby and Pikachu all jumped out at Mario. Needless to say, Mario was still confused as all hell, but screw it. He would still try to fight, even if it was a small bit. Thank goodness he was practicing his martial arts for his next adventure. Martial arts he most probably wouldn't use, except for this one time. He thanked his quick reflexes that warned him of the incoming stab from Link. He counterattacked with a quick combo: short punch, long punch and kick. It seems it was very effective. Link kept trying to stab him with his sword, but he should've noticed the other fighters too. He instantly regretted not doing so after he felt a shock at his back.

"Pikachu!" shouted the culprit,as if to admit all the blame that could be given to him. Pikachu then head butted Mario to a pulp, only for Link to finish him off with a shot of…something. He didn't know what that flying piece of wood was,at least not yet. Mario went flying away, only for his body to explode in pieces.

He was dead—or so he thought.

He was standing on a hovering platform, as if he had been given a second chance. Mario was thankful to whoever resurrected him, and quickly got back on track, landing with an aerial attack directly to Link's face. The swordsman was doing his best to make him part of his next BBQ, but Mario kept dodging with backward and forward rolls any attack that came forth to damage him. Then, Link also tried a jumping attack.

Big mistake. The plumber responded with a special move, jumping up and punching Link into the sky and above while making these coin sounds in his head. Mario dubbed this original move the "Mario Super Jump Punch", but it didn't necessarily mean that he was the only one who could use it; his brother Luigi was also becoming a master of the technique and he was probably practicing it at this very moment, even if he was slightly afraid of being hurt. Mario couldn't be any prouder of his slightly younger brother.

"Maybe it's time to fully bring out the specialties", Link thought to himself as he was falling. He landed in the middle of Mario and Kirby, who was heading for the opponent that he had just remembered was there. The Hero Of Hyrule felt great pride on using his signature Spin Attack to send both of them flying, despite the fact that they quickly recovered in the air. Mario then tried to do the same with his arms— a technique which proved effective. Neither Link nor Kirby could recover this time. Mario watched terrified as they flew away and blew up just like him; the sight of them on the floating platforms brought him great relief.

Mario then put two and two together in his head, and came to realize a few things. Maybe there was a certain distance the fighters couldn't go beyond; like a border they weren't allowed to trespass. If that was the case, then there would be some sort of bomb which would blow up whenever they crossed said limit. However, they would respawn every single time this happened, in one of these floating platforms that allowed them some time to recover. The point of this "fighting game" was to knock (or smash) the opponent(s) away to the border, and whenever they exploded it would count as a point to the winner. "Whoever made this-a strange game must-a be a despicable mind", he thought.

He wasn't far off the truth though.

Mario quickly went back to fighting, and decided to stop picking on Link, only to find the bizarre sight of Kirby inhaling Pikachu's entire body only to spit it out, making Pikachu fall (though the latter was saved by the moving stone slob). The two fighters crossed eyes, quickly running at each other. Mario was then knocked back a bit thanks to Kirby's dash attack, and he did likewise to his opponent. Kirby made a combo him by punching him twice, then a whole lot. It was strong, but not strong enough to knock him away of the screen. At least not by now. Mario was not happy with this, and pulled out something out of his pocket; a Fire Flower, which he then ate. With the power of the fire inside of him, he felt stronger than ever, and after watching Pikachu come running at them, angry that he had been shoved aside, he responded to the mouse's will with all of his strength put in one attack.

Charging fire in his hand, he made a quick explosion when the rodent came closer. It wasn't strong enough to kill him on the spot, but it sure had the strength to send it flying. And it worked out perfectly. It was another point for the plumber, but for him, it was something more.

Mario had finally made it.

He had made his first…Smash Attack.
