Stage: Peach's Castle
Fighters: Mario, Kirby
Rules: SUDDEN DEATH
Mario and Kirby looked at each other, and both felt nervous after hearing these words. However, Kirby quickly realized that the plumber was lost, and now that they were alone he could finally give him the answers he needed.
Kirby pulled some things out of his…body? They were a small whiteboard and a marker. There, he sloppily drew what was happening; both of them were in a condition where any of the two could be knocked out with a single hit. How was this possible? The creator of the "game" had filled their damage meters up to 300%. Mario could feel fatigued, which further proved Kirby's point. Then he came to the conclusion that the more exhausted a fighter was, the more damage they possessed and the higher the possibility of knocking them out.
Mario then said, "Uhhh…can you understand-a what I'm-a saying?" Kirby nodded affirmatively in response. The plumber continued asking questions. "Where are-a you from-a?", he said. Kirby drew a watered-down version of his home, Dream Land. Mario was perplexed. If Kirby was from another place entirely different to his, why was he here?
"What-a happened to your home-a?" Mario's question was to certainly clear things up, right?
Kirby then began to tear up, drawing amidst sad Poyos. Apparently, the creator (illustrated as a hand by the pink ball) had taken away Dream Land, in a literal sense. Not only that, but many other worlds were taken away too, presumably Link's and Pikachu's too.
They were going to face a world eater?
The red-and-blue plumber just couldn't believe it. He was terrified by the thought of having to face such a monster. To Kirby it was just another Tuesday, but it surely wasn't a lucky one. He was frustrated by the fact that this time, he couldn't do anything to save himself or his friends. Maybe it was payback for his ancient eldritch divinity destroying antics, yet it felt too harsh. Kirby then put away his things and let out a final Poyo, as if to say "I'm sorry". He then Smash Kicked Mario upwards and saw him fall through the sky until he left a small glitter, signal of the explosion. The voice then said,
"GAME!"

Mario was defeated, unable to move. It was like he was some sort of still figure. The voice came back, as if to mock him. "Well, 1-UP Boy, looks like you were beat up and down, haha!" Mario just grunted at that statement. "Why so angry? You do know that I can give you another chance, right?" Mario, still angry, shouted, "What if I don't want to fight-a?!" The voice answered, with all the sincerity that it could put in itself:
"Well, I guess it's goodbye to your world, and everyone you love, forever. Including yourself, of course. I bet that Kirby told you a few things. You know, about who I am, why are you here, and maybe what your objective was— Oh, hold on. Maybe he didn't. I didn't tell him yet after all."
The plumber opened up his ears, listening closer than he ever did before.
"To be fair, I, the creator of this "game" was ordered to destroy all of your worlds and leave nothing behind; but then I thought, "What if I made you fight each other in an attempt to reach me and stop the destruction instead? Oh, how fun it would be! The sparks flying, the violence flowing in the environment! Truly something magnificent for me to presence." That's how this "game" came to be: in other words, you're my amusement."
Mario clenched his teeth, feeling all the more useless. The voice continued speaking.
"I decided that I'd leave your Fire powers on for this event, if you wanna continue, of course. Well? Salvation or destruction, which one do you choose, Mario Mario?"
Mario's choice was obvious.
"CONTINUE? Alright then, looks like that's how it goes. I'd be baffled if you chose "no", but you are the Hero Of The Mushroom Kingdom after all. Oh? Looks like Mr. Kirby wants to help you. Fine, then. You both shall go separate ways, but I'll make darn sure you meet in the end. And by you, I mean ALL of you. All the 12 contenders shall be my final feast! If you do make it there, of course."
Mario could feel like he was being transported somewhere else. But he also felt ready to face whatever was thrown under his belt. After all, he promised himself to help his fellow brawlers. There was no way he could leave them behind.
"Go forth, Mario! Smash and climb up to the victory and the truth! I'll be waiting in the great fray, for you and your…
…Smash Brothers.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey guys, it is I, BlackTorii18. To whoever has read this far, thank you for reading. It means a lot to me. My original plan was to condense Chapters 1-4 into two chapters, but I thought that it would be more fun to read and suspenseful if I cut it at certain parts. Plus, it wouldn't be so text-filled that way. This is only the first arc, so expect better things to happen later. If you want to, like and follow this story to know whenever a new chapter gets uploaded, and comment too. I'll gladly accept any constructive feedback which can help me grow as a writer. Next up is the Classic Mode Mario vs. Link fight, and I'll make sure that it's shorter and less cut than this beginning arc. That's all. Take care, stay safe, and love yourselves and your family. BlackTorii18 out.
