Stage: Hyrule Castle
Current Fighters: Mario, Link
Rules: 2 Lives Classic Mode
"If I don't win, at least I tried!"
Mario was flaring with determination at that moment. He was going to let Link know that he would find a solution, no matter what. However, the noise of the tornado approaching alerted him and he climbed up to the platform tower with a "wahoo". Mario expected Link to do the same, but the green man was standing frozen in place, spacing out. Mario began shouting: "Link-a, the tornado! Link-a! LINK-A WATCH OUT, IT'S IN FRONT OF YOU! LISTEN TO ME!"
Link then turned his head up to Mario, and began talking. "Mario, would you mind if I help—"
The tornado came, sweeping everything in its path. Vulnerable things that could get caught in it are: unused items, innocent animals, and distracted Hylian swordsmen. The latter type managed to succumb to the tornado's destructive force and went flying away before exploding in a sparkly mess.
"GAME!"
"Congratulations, 1-UP Boy! You won! Your points will be now given. Let's see… Time Remaining: 2:15, Damage, Items, including that bonus by knocking out Link with the tornado… Boy, you got a whopping 36,000 points on your first match! That's something unexpected of a newcomer!" Mario jumped in the air, greatly satisfied by this statement. "I am number one! Yahoo! I wonder how's Kirby doing-a right now."
"KIRBY
VERSUS
LINK!"
Stage: Hyrule Castle
Fighters: Kirby, Link
Rules: 2 Lives Classic Mode
The pinkball came crashing in his star and stretched a bit. Out of the column of light, Link descended. Master Hand declared the rules, and Kirby listened closely. Deep down though, he didn't care. To him, rules would prove ultimately useless in the end, because no matter what, he was going to win. For his friends, for his food, and for Dream Land.
"Ready, GO!"
Kirby began his offensive by dashing straight to Link with a kick. He then successfully evaded the blows that Link kept giving with his sword, counterattacking at the correct moment. At one moment, Link used his shield, but Kirby broke it with a Smash Attack. He then continued to lightly slap his opponent just to provoke him. An angered Link answered by throwing a bomb at Kirby, which the latter inhaled and swallowed. Kirby had the capacity to inhale things with his vacuum-like mouth, and could either swallow them or spit them out at stars. Should've it had swallowed a super-powered opponent, he could copy their abilities thanks to his complex system, one of a kind in the world. At the remembrance of this. Kirby thought.
Weren't his opponents of the fray all super-powerful people, in one way or another? That meant he could gain their abilities after swallowing them… Even if he couldn't, it was worth a try, right?
Kirby opened his mouth and began inhaling to his heart's content. Link could sense his body being pulled into the void that was Kirby's stomach, slowly faster and faster. He panicked and tried to get out of the vacuuming mouth's grip, but it was too late. Kirby inhaled the Hero Of Time, and then swallowed him up.
It worked. Over Kirby's head, Link's had magically appeared. The real Link came out from besides Kirby, as clean as ever. Kirby then figured that his enemies wouldn't disappear as soon as he swallowed them. As happy as he may have felt for that, now wasn't exactly the time to stand around thinking. He tried to use the power that he discovered, only to find out he could use Link's Boomerang, and nothing else. An angered Kirby flew above Link, and using a secret ability that he had stored he turned into a huge stone and flattened him. After that, the elf look-a-like was sent flying far, far away, until he became a distant star in the sky.
"GAME!"
A silent "Poyo" could be heard. Rather than a happy sendoff, it was quite a cold one. Kirby felt like he didn't need to get attached to any of his fellow fighters, not even Mario. After all, what were they? All of them were cold figurines, including himself. Over and over he had lost and had been outmatched, but he couldn't just give up now. This would have been his last attempt; had he lost, he wouldn't have continued due to his lack on points. These darned points were the continue fee, and he had continuously been losing them thanks to these fighters. Kirby wasn't a creature of vengeance; in fact, he barely embraced and actually despised the concept of vengeance after all. But now, this was a quest for revenge. He couldn't make friends anymore, he thought.
To him, it was to knock out…or to be knocked out.
Kirby was then awarded his points by the mysterious voice: "So, you've got exactly… WOW. Kirby, you beautiful puffball, you got a total of 46,000 points on your first match! I hope 1-UP Boy isn't too angry about this. Anyway, off to a good start, it seems! Keep it up, and you'll be able to save your comfy home world in no time. Oh, and please shake that frown off your face. It hurts to see you so angry at me."
Kirby wasn't obeying. He was still angry at the voice. Mario looked at him with a frown too, as he was "slightly" envious of the pink spherical being. The voice tried to calm them down. "Come on boys, now is not the time to become enemies, am I right? Uhh, let's move on to the next fight! I'll transport you each to your places. Now, get ready!"
Mario was quite enthusiastic about this fighting tournament. Even if he had a mission he needed to complete, he was having fun meeting new people and having a twist to what he called an "8-bit shaped life". Maybe the real purpose of this tournament was not as sinister as it seemed to be. Maybe things would be fun at the end of the day and all this stress would be shaken off. Maybe there wasn't anything to worry about at all!
"MARIO
VERSUS
TEAM YOSHI!"
After he heard that, a chilling sensation went up his spine. He wasn't allowed to have fun.
